I love being able to watch these at least on youtube. Was working at camp in 2012 and 2016 so I wasn't able to watch the olympics those summers (Well, very little if at all). I remember how back in 1996 they were commenting on Shannon Miller and Dominique Dawes' ages (19) and how "old" they seemed, and then you get these three. Simone 19, and the Aly and Aliya in their 20s and think how time has changed. Simone didn't make the cut for the 2012 games age wise, but she OBVIOUSLY still had it in 2016 (and last I heard, even after taking some time off after the 2016 games, is STILL amazing) Times have changed. I recently saw Chellsie Memmel is also trying to make a comeback...12 years later. Proof that age is NOT everything. Laughable that 19 was considered "old' in 1996.
@Grumpychiken22 Too right! For the longest time they’d only posted the 15-minute wrapup of the winners, but I enjoy seeing others in the top 24... Stay safe, and I’m hoping to see the Games in 2021!

She Went in on carlotta ferlito, Saying That her Uneven Bars routine was „nothing spectacular“ which is true 😂😂😂 I‘ll have These commentators over Tim & Elfie any day tho 😂
Nah she placed correctly. People like to ignore that she's the weakest vaulter of the entire AA final. And that even though she doesn't have bobbles on beam or steps on floor, that her form is subpar to put it lightly. Maybe it has to do with her slight figure, but her knees and feet never seem right and I'm sure she gets a lot of deductions for that and for lack of power/amplitude - something you probably can't see on film but the judges can see.
Aliya botched her beam set and Shang still couldn't beat her. That proves the third best gymnast in the final was really Aliya (in reality Aliya was the 5-6th best AA'er in Rio, behind the Americans, but that's irrelevant). -- Like Andrew said, Shang's judging was fair. She wasn't able to fix her knees. Though I really wanted her to take AA bronze after being sick. Her Rio performance reminds me of Yao Jinnan's in London. Full of talent, just unlucky with illness/injury. ):
Don´t forget that her 3 1/2 twist was underrotated and her 3 twist was low, and even though she stuck perfectly both the punch fronts after that, the judges aren´t fooled easily by these covers.
I can’t wait to see Simone biles and other USA 🇺🇸 women American teammates at the floor exercise and other gymnastics 🤸♀️ events at the 2024 summer Olympic Games in Paris France 🇫🇷
Honestly, people really shouldn’t be speculating over who deserved the bronze unless they are familiar with all the deductions available, and therefore, are qualified to judge. I’m so tired of everyone trying to say this or that was overscored without even stating the deductions.
Hey, u just seemed like someone who actually KNOWS a lot about this sport, so, I'm asking YOU! Sorry thinks off-topic tho- I admittedly don't know a lot about gymnastics; I enjoy watching and have started watching more &more the past few years! Which of the 4 apparatus is the most physically TAXING& probably requires the most, I guess your say the most endurance or stamina?? Obviously, I wouldn't say vault, it's over in just a few seconds- thru definitely seem like the bars (according to announcers??) Take a ton of strength & stamina... especially if they fall or have an error and have to re do parts. I would THINK the floor XR would be by far the most exhausting.... but then I could also see how even BEAM might be the most tiring because it's be so MENTALLY exhausting & that can in turn become equally as exhausting physically?! Ahhh!!! So, what would YOU say is the most tiring apparatus...?? (Again, sorry this is so random! I just tried to find someone in the comments who seemed to know their stuff! Lol)
Halfway through the competition, I can't help but wonder how significant Aliya's lead over Simone would've been had she not had that injury. She would've given a much stronger competition for the silver and might've sneaked it as well. But all hopes for Tokyo. Just perform and she'll easily outnumber Khorkina's Olympic tally.
You mean the ACL injury? I guess Aliya might have gotten a couple more tenths on Simone if not for the ACL ending her Amanars back in 2011. But to Aliya's credit, what she did in the first two rotations was about as perfect as she could have been, which is why she temporarily had the lead.
If she hadn’t torn her ACL in 2010, she most likely would have won in 2012. She was constantly injured in the 2013-16 quad, she fought her way back and if she hadn’t been injured she most probably would have gotten silver.
Imagine Aliya doesn't have a fall in beam, and doing Amanar in London 2012. Wow wow wow. Best Russian Team ever, Aliya, Vika, Ksenia, Grishina, Paseka (without messy amanar and cheng). Good old days
Achmad Choirul Huda She probably would have won gold as she was more consistent on beam before her injury. Also she could’ve won gold on vault with Maroneys fall. What an amazing Russian team it would’ve been.
unpopular opinion: aliya mustafina actually deserved her bronze medal due to her beautiful and artistic floor routine, solid yurchenko double on vault, and amazing bar routine. with that being said shang only performed a subpar full on vault and some of her twists on floor were under rotated, leading to some slight overscoring for her on that event. I agree w the fact that her beam was great, and her bars were good but in my personal opinion it was not enough to overtake aliya and i agreed w the judges opinion:)) im open to discussion though!

I hope Alexander Raismen become a coach or commentator. She is such a wonderful gymnast and so gracious, kind and considerate. I know her parents must be proud to raise a lady like her. God bless her. Simone is just wonderful in every way. I know God is blessing her. I hope she continues to receive God’s blessings.
Thank you! Aly Raisman is my favorite athlete, this was her day! Great job, Aly, Simone, Alyia (Vanessa, Downey, Eli Black, And really, everyone!)
Areezaj Evol mine too.
Mine too! She (Aly) said it was sort of like winning gold to her, knowing how no one could beat Simone, and I understand that! I love her so much! 🥰🇺🇸

I just noticed how Aliya supported Seda all throughout this AA - especially in UB. What a helpful Queen 👑
She made a great leader for her team that year indeed. Her experience was crucial.
A las niñitas asiáticas siempre les dieron muy bajas calificaciones, una de ellas hizo una rutina excelente en la barra y le dieron muy poco puntaje! 😢
It says alot about Simone and Aly that after a mere 1 minute of celebration, they immediately go over to congratulate Aliya and hug the other competitors. You don't see that often, at least not a decade ago.
Honestly watching the Tokyo AA was amazing to see everyone being so happy for eachother!
Love các bạn Simone👍👏👏👏💕💕💕😍😍😍🌹🌹🌹

AA Olympics Tokyo #2 (🥈)
SO grateful to have this upload....but an ad (I know, they have to pay the bills) every four minutes in a two-hour video is beyond ridiculous. The commentators are so much more helpful to the lay person than the American ones!
Aly came in with one goal, to get that medal she didn't get in 2012, and she slayed it.
I think Simon Biles and Aly Raisman are the best gymnasts in the world! I don’t know why I cry everytime I see Aly and Simone preform. I want to be like them and they make everything look so easy.
God I'm still gutted for Shang Chunsong. I love Mustafina and she deserved the bronze, but to come 4th in the 2015 Worlds AA and then the Olympic AA is rough

She is just TOO thin! I don't know HOW she can have enough muscle mass to be physically be strong enough to do these things- and all back to back!? Her head is almost the widest/biggest part of her entire body!!! Those little toothpick legs- I'm always scared they're just gonna snap right in half when she lands!! Poor Shang. She was 4th in AA at Worlds in 2015 as well. 😢

Keep forgetting that this was Simone’s 1st Olympics...love how they supported each other... hated when the female announcer stated that body remark about Ally .... days of the skinny gymnastic athletes are over except for some ladies ... they are just tiny ...but pack a lot !
Why do you think it's a remark about her body? Aly doesn't have very good form on most of her skills.
I missed that what did she say?
Amelia A She mentioned Alys leg strength from conditioning. Nothing about her body was mentioned. Besides Alys form is awful on every apparatus.
It was about her body/looks "not as aesthetically pleasing as some of the others but she is sturdy"

After an ACL injury that has ended the careers of most other elite athletes… that’s what’s most impressive.
Seeing Rebeca here and seeing who and what she has become in the world of Artistic Gymnastic today is warming.

I love Simone smile she adorable you can’t help but love her!
Shang deserved much more; I'm still gutted about her results.
Reegy Reegs samw :/
Nah she placed correctly. People like to ignore that she's the weakest vaulter of the entire AA final. And that even though she doesn't have bobbles on beam or steps on floor, that her form is subpar to put it lightly. Maybe it has to do with her slight figure, but her knees and feet never seem right and I'm sure she gets a lot of deductions for that and for lack of power/amplitude - something you probably can't see on film but the judges can see.
Weight lifting

Lol)
I love gymnastics thanks for making the show

@@e2theeyepie Yes I meant the ACL injury. And what you've said is true, I just keep getting amazed by her every time I watch her.
I LOVE SIMONE BILES SOOOO MUCH SHE IS THE BEST I am soo excited I have gymnastics today
unpopular opinion: aliya mustafina actually deserved her bronze medal due to her beautiful and artistic floor routine, solid yurchenko double on vault, and amazing bar routine. with that being said shang only performed a subpar full on vault and some of her twists on floor were under rotated, leading to some slight overscoring for her on that event. I agree w the fact that her beam was great, and her bars were good but in my personal opinion it was not enough to overtake aliya and i agreed w the judges opinion:)) im open to discussion though!
I'm with you. I've always thought that Mustafina deserve that bronze medal.
