- Sauces such as oyster sauce are usually just store bought from the local Oriental grocery. If you take a close look at the ingredients often you will find very little or no oysters in the making of the sauce!
Today, I drove allllllll the way to the Sydney Fish Markets to buy Oysters and go allllllll the way home just to make my own Oyster sauce. Hope you enjoy my vlog + tutorial ft my baby (the car)!!!
Ingredients to make Oyster sauce:
6 x Sydney rock oysters
4 x Dried oysters
5 x Dried shitake mushroom
1TBS x Dark soy sauce (Lee Kum Kee)
4TBS x Premium Light soy sauce (Lee Kum Kee)
1/2TBS x MSG
1TBS x Sugar
2 slices x Fresh ginger
1 tsp x Oil
2.5 cup x Water
1-2TBS x Potato starch to thicken
Instructions to make Oyster sauce:
1. Finely chop the Sydney rock oysters
2. Cook oysters low for 10mins with 1/2 cup of water
3. Drain the mixture through a fine sieve into the saucepan. Discard the pieces in the sieve.
4. Add the reserved oyster liquid into a new saucepan with the remaining ingredients except for the potato starch and bring to a boil. (adding oil will give the sauce a glossier and more appealing look)
5. Reduce heat, gently simmering for 10-15 minutes.
6. slowly add and stir the slurry made using potato start until completely dissolved.
7. Remove the saucepan from the heat, let cool completely.
8. Allow to cool to room temperature and pour into a new bottle.
9. Use immediately or store in refrigerator until ready to use.

Would like to see more videos like this!!! While the shorts u made are also awesome. These longer videos/vlogs show more about your life as an experience chef.
Excellent job chef. You are doing great.
Your channel is so good! Please keep the videos coming 👍
amazing !! never thought we could actually make oyster sauce!
Like tomato sauce, normally we wouldn’t make it but it’s useful to understand how to make a key ingredient in a lot of Chinese cooking
It’s easy. Add oyster and msg. Done
Nice oysters, nice food and nice car too! 👍
You have changed my life with this if only I had a fish market

Amazing vid
Best video and made it look easy hahaha
Yum! 👍👍👍
Such an under rated channel
Wow so nice good !!!
Thanks man. I gotta try this. And good that you're in Sydney too! The store bought stuff has this more "transparent" appearance compared to yours. Could there be a different type of thickening agent that can be used to achieve this effect?
Great video bro..
adequately! :);) Hats off!
nice sauseeeeeeeee
u are the best cook i am hear under 12 sec
You didn’t even watch it! Hahaha I appreciate the love
Awesome
I love oyster sauce it works almost everything in food
nah, doesn't work with fruitcake
This is sorta like those specialist sauces because of the particular ingredient (Sydney Rock Oysters. Like Taiwanese Black Bean Soy Sauce has a special type of Black Bean. The only way to know how good is to have it yourself
Well done I instructionals with a great personality. Cooking is my passion and hobby so I've learned so much from this channel. Thank you!
Until I become a millionaire I'll have to stick to Lee Kum Kee Premium oyster sauce. Where I live, to buy what you did would be well over $150.
Nice Z bro
Nice ride
Nice Z bro!
Amazing Bro. Any chance to do sesame oil?
Any chance of a video of your semi outdoor kitchen? Curious about how much (or little) ventilation you're able to safely get away with. I have two of those burners on an outdoor setting but wondering how much of an enclosed environment I can operate them in.
Well oil beef hooked, that's hw ya make it 😂😂👌👌👍👍
yo amazing videos and edits-
hello dsl , australia seafood market is actually a food court too - it has really nice fresh chinese ? service there then. the oysters fresh - wonder if there is fried oyster with tartare sauce there too. elle for pearls
I never knew oyster sauce was made from oysters! I always assumed some people just ate it with oysters. This was very educational
you probably don't think Girl Scout Cookies are made from girl scouts 😆😅
The cheap version of oyster sauce does contain little to none oysters (
So you're one of the idiots that doesn't ask questions and assume? I guess the Earth is flat in your world.
@@jamescollier3 I honestly thought girl scout cookies were just bought in bulk for cheap and sold for 3 or 4 dollars more
when tf have you eaten oysters with oyster sauce
Nice vid love from india 🇮🇳🇮🇳
♥️
YESSIRRRRR
How are u so good at cooking 😌!!
This guy is from Sydney?? How did I not pick up he was in Australia lol I thought he was another American cook…where does this guy work I want to try his food!

You da man
Where can I purchase a wok burner like that here in USA? Or can I order it from over seas?
Looks amazing. Was that over $20 in ingredients ?
Dude is a Sydneysider 😃
I once put oyster sauce on a hot dog because I confused it with barbecue sauce.
that’s a bad day
More video please!!
I’m new to your channel. I’ve been watching a few of your videos and I LOVE them. I can’t wait to make more of the dishes you make. I did have a question, what is yum yum and 621? I’m guessing yum yum is MSG? Or maybe that’s the 621. Thank you!
Im also wondering some videos he usez 621 and yum yum as well so i presume yumyum in that case is salt or sugar but he never reveal it ... maybe thats the every cooks secret weapon ... 😅
@@GrAsSMoPer haha! Maybe, but his technique and cooking is elite. I’ve learned so much from him.
I was thinking man he can’t use this on a stir fry and you knock up some Gai Lan at the end. Nice. How was it?
i would be so happy if you make thai fried rice
好了❤️
So saucy
This is awesome wonder if there a reason for potato over corn starch 🤔
hi friend. i think potato starch is normally used to make sauce shinier and stringier than corn starch. that's why people use potato starch to make sauces such as gravy, pie mix.
@@tringuyen-ie6pw awesome thanks you!
OZZIE OZZIE OZZIE
Looks like DK (Drift King) in FF Tokyo Drift. 😁
Curious, did the cooked oysters have any more flavour after you finished frying em? 😂
Sick vid 🔥
Now we serve
30 min drive from Lawson to Pyrmont in the DSL hotrod
Sweet car
are those oyster sauce in supermarkets also made from real oysters? wonder how much is the difference in taste between homemade and off the shelves.
What wok burner are you using?
Nice purse 👜 😝
That’s a lobster glizzy if I’ve ever seen one
That lobster roll look different than I thought.
OMG that 350Z 😱
what did you get the dried oysters for?
I thought you live in California but you are in Sydney Australia i see
What is Yum Yum and where can I buy it or is it MSG
Bride seats in the z33!!!
Have you written a cook book?
I swear to god you look a lot like that Tokyo Drift Person 😳
Sorry, stupid question, but what is 6, 2, 1? It has been bugging me so much....
:)
Nice satchel
We use ours for cooking I’m not a big fan of it just put on my food lol
I use oyster sauce on my fried rice.
I just need to know what is the 6to1 powder
It's also called as MSG and it's used as a flavour enhancer
Didn't know you are Sydney boy.
4:32 the recipe actually begins here
Approved for 30k.
Uncle Roger should see this
the most important question is… where is your restaurant located? i want to go there and eat
Lawson Bowling Club in the Blue Mountains
where do you live bro? sg?
