Seeing how often you have been there and how famous you have made this dam - I reckon the guys that run this place should build an elevator for you. Or have they already? 😁
Just to be a nerd: The height ascertained (by using the equations of motion) are not suitable for things like gigantic exercise balls. (As the equations being used are only good if the objects fall at same velocity in free-fall. You can't use those equations for determining motion of a feather.) Case & point: Scott was given a score of 4.9m on his big yellow exercise ball, and it didn't come anywhere CLOSE to that. And, on top of that, you can't use the damn dam (lol) as a makeshift coordinate system because it's curving away from camera. Okay, I exercised the demmmo....nerd.
Yeh we realised it would be imperfect but in order to get on the spot comparisons it was our best play. If it was for the Olympics it prob wouldn’t fly tho haha. Also, the yellow ball was over 1m in diameter so if you pause at it’s highest you’ll see it’s actually prob pretty close to a 5m bounce.
Let’s see if anyone gets this reference: “For the last time, we did not order a giant trampoline” “Well, buddy. You should have said that before I installed it”
Very wise to realize the ground was what caused the bowling ball to break the net off the trampoline! Would like to see that again with the trampoline off the ground a little bit.
Not really that far in advance, this was filmed on may 23rd, their first dam video came out on June 11. Would have been June 4 if they didn't get the playbutton when they did. Considering they would have only gone for a few days and filmed a few eps, releasing them weekly, overall it's not that far ahead.

@@andrewwolverton839 sadly never heard of that professor! I just got done using the Magnus force in my computational physics course final project so it's still fresh on the mind lol!
They've actually done this and it actually does normally survive. 😅 I think it's because it can only go down so far before it hits the ground and normally the ground is soft enough to not break the fibers of the trampoline like that..

I especially love those captions telling how the calculations were done too, honestly learned a decent amount from them. :P
Congrats on 12 million+ subscribers, and keep the great content coming! We can tell that you really enjoy doing these videos together. Shout out too to editor Jack - top notch!
Just wanted to mention that their calculation of height isn't very accurate for the really light items. Their formula assumes no air resistance which will increase the calculated height for items like the first bouncy ball which "floats" a bit more.
They may have decided air resistance was a null factor given it was nearly uniform for every bounce (on the inside of the dam) Also, air resistance is based on surface area not weight
The formula they're using is complete garbage... The acceleration of bowling vall vs. an exercise ball for example are completely different, therefore the time they spend in the air for the same bounce height is completely different. So yeah, not an accurate way of measuring the bounce height at all.
When he said "meterage", I immediately thought to myself: "What would the imperial version be?". Well, guess what - it's "footage". Nice footage, guys!
Yet another great video by the How Ridiculous "team". We all know who the "stars" are and we all know you have a great support crew. I love the sounds some of those objects made as they fell. Thanks and keep the vids coming.
Great content. I love it! Just be careful throwing things over the edge. Especially heavy things. Don’t want you guys losing your balance and falling over with those anvils.
As always, amazing slowies. I kind of wonder now which height is the optimal bouncing drop height for some of these items. If the tire was dropped from say 1/2 that distance, would the downward force not override the mechanics of the rubber?
An objects maximum speed during free fall is the terminal velocity, and the faster an elastic object travels when it impacts the ground, the more it compresses and the faster the restitution of the object acts to decompress it. Maximising the compression of the elastic object during impact is crucial as you would like this elastic decompression to push the object upwards as hard as possible, for as much energy as possible to be stored in the elastic medium in the form of potential energy. It is difficult for such an ideal situation to occur as some of the kinetic energy gets transformed into heat as impact occurs, and some of must be used to overcome air resistance as the object gets forced upward be the elastic recoil force.
Wouldn’t matter. Even half the height of this dam would be more than about for the tire to reach terminal velocity- so same result. Drop a bowling ball from 1,000 feet or 10,000 feet, it will still reach the same speed
Idk if it's the accents, great charisma, awesome brotherhood or the entertaining stunts and content but y'all always give me a laugh and something to take my mind off all the shitty things....1up m8

Okay I chuckled a bit lol

Didn’t think I’d have so much fun watching this video. Well done lad’s
Do you guys ever get the itch to throw yourselves off? Like a burning desire?
I can't believe I never noticed the
rock-climbing path winding it's way up the dam face before! What a cool place to practice rock-climbing!
I think there’s a hotel inside the wall too
Literally the best content, you guys really know how to brighten up a lads day!
I LOVE their energy and how happy they are over throwing balls 💕💕
Syy
You guys have way too much fun doing this stuff. LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Glad to see you're doing more dropping stuff videos, those were always my favorite
Great work guys keep it up!!!!
Just the dam itself is so terrifing
I swear they must have used the sound of a dropping bowling ball for some of the spells in harry potter 15:24
These mans literally made it their job to drop things from high places. I love it.
The 2nd time you dropped a bulling ball it sounded like a military jet engine
2:44 andrew garfield spiderman moment
Legit laughed out loud 🤣
My jaw dropped like three times this episode. Amazing results!
But did it bounce?
Fantastic love this ❤️
Guys! MAKE THAT PLANE FROM YOUR TOWER VIDS TO GLIDE OFF THE 165M DAM!!
Yet another great video by the How Ridiculous "team". We all know who the "stars" are and we all know you have a great support crew. I love the sounds some of those objects made as they fell. Thanks and keep the vids coming.
These videos are damn amazing ! You should do more from other iconic high places! That would be epic 😎
Let's all play a game of report the bot ^
I see a pun...
4:04 backrooms tire
Always a blast watching these guys. Keep it up!
Every time I watch this, Michael’s comment “it’s a bit inclement isn’t it” gets me every single time! Good work as always HR Team!
Great content. I love it! Just be careful throwing things over the edge. Especially heavy things. Don’t want you guys losing your balance and falling over with those anvils.
There’s a fence you silly Sausage
There's a fence you funny Franklin
1:08 isn’t it like the quadratic formula or something with palabras
I think it's the second equation of motion(under gravity)
H=ut+1/2gt²
where u=0(initial velocity)
And g=9.8m/sec²(acceleration due to gravity)
🥸😂
simple things such as throwing things from a height are some of the most entertaining activities in the world.
That was amazing! Love watching you guys throw stuff over a dam! Lots of fun! 🥰😁❤️

@@toziassmitt air drag would counteract the force of gravity eventually, exactly.
I can’t imagine how crazy these guys get when something interesting actually happens.
Absolutely love these video’s! 🤩
Idk if it's the accents, great charisma, awesome brotherhood or the entertaining stunts and content but y'all always give me a laugh and something to take my mind off all the shitty things....1up m8
"Jemima! That was a YUGE explosion!" 🤣 I'm using "Jemima" as my expletive of surprise, consternation, or amazement from now on.
I love your videos and thank you for doing all of this for us. :)
Fantastic love this ❤️
9:52 wtf🤣
This whole channel is just throw stuff off a bridge, and I absolutely love it
3:00 yeah Science!
