My Mother wore Youth Dew for years. She is gone now and II miss her terribly so I keep a bottle of Youth Dew on my vanity and spray it on my wrists to bring back cherished memories of her.
I used to LOVE Clinique Aromatic Elixir; it was basically my signature scent. But alas, it has lost "something". They have slightly changed the formula, and it's lost its "magic" note for sure. It's been around 10 -12 years since it began smelling different 😢. Has anyone else not noticed changes in their favourite perfume?
Not Michael here. Chanel #5 doesn’t smell the same. The whale component has been banned. I was going to purchase some but I didn’t know what was wrong and had to investigate . Also I watch a cute channel of a man that purchases storage lockers. He has run across some old perfumes once in a blue moon. Gotta be in the right place at the right time.
I really don’t care what others think. If I like it I wear it my two go to’s are Chanel 5 and Muguet! Old fashioned. I don’t care. At 70 I don’t give a damn. Why should I. Modern perfume smells like randy spraying cats! Gross!!!
My very first boyfriend bought me a bottle of Chanel’s #5. It has a connection to sentimental memories for me as he was killed in a car accident in his 20’s. It is a sweet memory of him.
@@glorialush9598 It’s a real ‘thing’ with perfume isn’t it? The way a fragrance can instantly conjure up a lost lover or family member, or a time and place in our past. Charlie is bittersweet for me. A strange mixture of laughter and tears, no matter how many years later. I’m happy to know that Chanel 5 has memories for you too.
My first boyfriend at 17, who became my husband 4 years later...bought me Chanel No 5 ( the pure perfume in the tiny bottle!) It was the first expensive perfume I'd ever had & whilst I've tried others over the years,I always come back to it. It is the memories it brings back isn't it!
I'm a man. I know all these from women who wore them in my youth. I think they all smell great. I am familiar with all and love them all. Youth-Dew smells exotic to me. Apart from Chanel No. 5, I still remember who wore which one. As a person who's always loved fragrances, I've always been interested in their stories and how what smells good and is marketed in one year or decade can drastically change in one or two decades. Naturally, the girls who are 25 won't generally go for something that came out when their mother or grandmother was young. They're going to opt for the newest Chanel Chance or Valentino Born In Roma. One of my good friends wore Coco Mademoiselle in the 2000s. She's now 45. Her daughter thinks it smells like an old woman. It was so modern and youthful when it came out. Case in point; wear what you want!
I still wear Chanel no5. I use the body cream on my wrist as it is very strong, but softer than the spray. I use it sparingly, but it lasts. It is one of the first fragrances my husband (who doesn’t appreciate fragrance) liked. As OP said, go figure.
My mother’s favorite perfume was Chanel No. 5. Since she passed away in 2022, I still keep her 1/2 empty bottle of Chanel No. 5 next to her picture on my bureau. And speaking of my mom, didn’t all of us wear what our mother’s wore? I know I did. Fragrances like Nina Ricci’s L’air Du Temps or Estée Lauder’s White Linen. I recently bought a bottle of White Linen because of the memories it evokes. I still love it.
Modern Chanel No. 5 does not smell the same as it did in the 50s and 60s. It's just not the same. They changed the formula and it lost the animalic edge.
I feel that a person's body chemistry has a lot to do with the way perfumes or Parfums smell on the individual. In some cases, the same scent can smell differently from one person to the next. 😊
Very much I am lucky to be able to wear a lot of perfumes. I love Channel number 5, I am wearing Angel right now, and I get so many compliments. I wore for years and a girl I worked with got it because she loved how it smelled, but it smelled really bad on her. So she gave it to me.
Agree. My favorite for years was Cool Water. A friend mentioned how much she loved my perfume and when I told her which one it was, she went out and bought it. But it smelled completely different on her and she was so disappointed.
Agree. Channel No5 smells like cats piss on me, my husband told me not to wear it. Yet on other people it smells really lovely. Love the original Clinique Aromatics not the elixir, always get compliments when I wear it, suits my skin chemistry and yes it has a lot of staying power. Mothers favourite was Youth Dew, it was her signature perfume, because of that I would never wear it. My Grandmothers was Yardley Old English Lavender. All the perfumes I do like, when I research they all tend to have Sandalwood as their base.
Revlon's Charlie is an old, old fragrance which conjures up such happy times for me. It's now sold in the cheapest of outlets for next to no money and people mostly say they can't understand how anyone would still wear such an outdated and CHEAP perfume. And yet they don't recognise the scent when I'm wearing it and always say I smell gorgeous and ask what it is. But faces change dramatically and with embarrassment when I tell them. Do I care? Nope!
I loved Charlie, until my sister gave it to me for Christmas. I had the stomach flu, which we all found out after I took one sniff of the perfume & threw up. Can't stand it to this day. 😂
Which one is the original Charlie, there seems to be a few now, Blue, silver, gold, I used to wear Charlie when I was a teenager I would love to get some for old times sake and memories ❤
I'm 59 yrs old and absolutely love Chanel no 5, also wear Chanel No 19 and Coco Chanel. I love Red Door as well and wear it! I am a fan of Jil Sanders no 4 which has been discontinued . I wear what I like and am not influenced by other's peoples opinions.
I am 77 years old. I’ve worn Chanel no.5 since I was 16. Today’s version, or, should I say the versions of it over the last 35 years (they’ve reformulated the recipe several times), is a mere shadow of its original fragrance. I imagine once ambergris (whale vomit) couldn’t be sourced anymore and fragrances started being synthesized, it ultimately changed the most alluring of perfumes to a shell of itself. Sad. Really disappointing.
@@noniousxltruffles7454the original No19 was glorious and lasted on the skin. A lot of years passed I rebought a bottle and was I disappointed. ! It smells completely different and lasts 10 minutes on me . 😢
I love Happy by Clinique. Once when .my Air Force son flew home for Christmas he wanted to buy me a gift. He couldn't remember the name of the cologne and went to the cologne counter at a department store. He went through there until the clerk sprayed the right one. Some smells from your childhood never fade, they stay in your memories forever. department
I stepped into Chanel 5. I wear it like armor when I want to be taken seriously and not ignored. It is my favorite fragrance for feeling powerful and not caring what others think. Really, it is genius.
I love it, but how do u dilute it? I like my scent light enough so u have to hug me to detect the scent. I've been meaning to add some, maybe one part per 10, to some distilled water. Maybe I should add one drop to wash load n hope the rinse cycle knocks it down a bit. What are some suggestion? One tiny spray and I have to air out my apartment...SOOO strong.
And, to be fair, No. 5 smells different on every person (esp. men!). If it happens to suit you, wear it as you are one of the special ones. I was given a large bottle of No. 19 but I hate it! It has simply sat unused for years.
I love Chanel no 5 on others. My daughter bought me a bottle as a gift but I had to return it because it smelled like talcum powder on me, very disappointed.
The top notes are pretty aggressive with the aldehydes but it dries down to a soft powdery finish. Same with Red Door, I liked it on other women forgetting to take into consideration that it was end of day for them and bought it, I hated the top notes so much I could not bear to wait it out, washed it off and gave the bottle away. Patchouli on my skin smells like moldy black pepper.
Anyone remember a sudden popular Giorgio , it was the sudden rage in the 80’s. I was visiting Rodeo Drive as a tourist , and smelt it up and down the street.
My mother in law wore it. I still have a bottle that she gave me in 1990. I finally opened it - it doesn’t smell right. But the box and bottle make me smile.
This is quite funny back when Angel came out I was in an elevator and this lady walked in and all of a sudden I can't explain what happened to me, but when my nose hit her fragrance my heart was beating so fast and I got so excited as if it hit all my neurons in my brain..Yet I'm quite shy, but I just couldn't help myself and I said to her oh my God that perfume smells soooo good and I asked the name and she said Angel! Of course I went and purchased it..Still to this day when I smell it on someone it still hits all my neurons!!😍 I love it...
I love it too , however I don’t buy or wear it anymore . Some years ago I wore it to work and received compliments galore except from the office manager. This extremely immature 40 something at the time decided it was gross and gave her headaches. She didn’t speak to me, she’d stomp past me with her arms folded , would chat and laugh with others and completely ignore me. I found out from another coworker that she was going around bad mouthing me for wearing it and making her sick . She never approached me with her concern, just continued to act like a 5 year old. 🙄🙄😣
Me too, I always get compliments whenever I wear it from both males and females. I absolutely love smelling it on someone else as well. This one guy at my work would lose his mind whenever he was around me when I was wearing it. It was so funny, he was in a relationship but he said that it drove him crazy. We always had a good laugh about it. 👼
When Angel first came out, someone promoting it sprayed it on me and I couldn’t wait to get rid of it. It absolutely stinks on my skin. Years later my new hairdresser was wearing it and even though I recognised it immediately I had to admit that it smelled good on her. She still uses it, she is obsessed with it. So, I would always say that it’s the perfume I hate the most but I get why some people like it
I am 79 years old, just started using youth dew and I love it. But I wish they still made Intimate it was beautiful. I have had most perfumes through my life but all time favourite will always be INTIMATE. X
Smelling Red Door is pure nostalgia for me. Smelling it takes me right back to a certain place and time. My mom wore it in 1990, and it will always be the scent I attach to her. It is a beautiful scent.
So many people today are losing…or have lost…any sense of elegance…yes, some of these fragrances are not particularly good…almost smell “drugstore”…but, many, like Chanel, are truly timeless…and elegant! ( No, Chanel is not an old lady fragrance…it’s a sophisticated fragrance…sadly, many women just don’t get it!)
I have both Chanel No 5 and Youth Dew and also Opium, and I always get complimented on all three of those. I find them sopisticated and elegant, and will continue to wear them because they are me...
NAILED Youth Dew!!! OMG!! I haaaate it!! 40 years ago I worked in a jewelry store and old ladies would come in reeking of it. I would go into a sneezing fit, eyes watering, coughing... no other perfume ever did that to me!! OMG!!!!!!
Heaven Scent. H.S/college boyfriend gave it to me & that's all I wore till it was discontinued. Got tons of compliments on it from men & women of all ages!! Miss it SO MUC😭
Angel has been my Signature scent since 1996…I’m 73 & ppl STILL stop me to ask what it is… Many men also. ‼️ & they’re so sweet saying that they are not ‘hitting on me’ 😂 I Suggest they purchase it for their girl/Mom/Aunts 😍
That's my fear, exactly. In fact, dryer sheets are so strong, I can sometimes smell other ppl's dryer sheet stench that dryer sheet odor, I gave up wearing any scents. on my own clothing. I've been so assaulted by
I absolutely hate Chanel no.5 ,I do not know why it is so famous.I also can not stand over powering fragrances like Red Door,Poison,or Halston which use to be famous at one time. All those fragrances gave me a migraine and/or an Asthma attacks, people need to be considerate to those around them in the work place or close in the car with people especially if you know they are prone to migraines or asthma.I.literally had tell my friend the scent made me ill,and she made sure if she knew she was going to be around me which I appreciated.
ah... the marinated types. They do not realize that they become scent-blind when applying their perfume and will drench themselves so they can smell it. Usually, you will get knocked over by them within 20 feet of their "scent-field". I detested going to the grocery store when Axe was popular with young men. They bathed in the soap, shampoo, deodorant and cologne. It was like accidently walking into a wall of Raid for me. I still go into the grocery store and come across a marinated shopper, usually women. My throat closes up around commercial perfumes. Something in them the last 40 years is toxic for me. I make my own using essential oils in a jojoba oil base, using a couple of dabs at most. The only one who smells it is my husband. He is the only one allowed to get that close to my neck. laughing...
It’s way too heavy. You spray it on and you could choke on the thickness of that smell. Sorry, I’ve never liked that stuff and never understood why it was so popular other than the brand.
Love this perfume and have a few versions of it. Some lighter, but my favourite is classic no.5. Well I like Givenchy 'Amarige',so to me this perfume is just right 😊
In my teen years I wore Youth Dew and after I married I wore Chanel #5. I have a half bottle on my dressing table now. It has been there forever because my husband bought it for me and he has been gone for 8 years. I am 77 and don’t wear perfume anymore. It is just a beautiful little remembrance.
Why have you stopped wearing perfume just because you are 77 years old? I have 10 years on you and I use perfume every day after my shower..........even if I'm not leaving the house.
Ooops...My No 1 perfume is Chanel No5 and has been from I was a young Uni student, and I'm now 51. It makes me happy, I feel feminine when I wear it and thankfully my partner loves No5 on me and it's usually he who buys it for me. Oooops again, I love red door
If it's a guy who said it, tell him whatever he wears is only worn by gay men. If it's a woman, tell her her perfume always makes you think of strippers.
Thank you thank you thank you! I'm so grateful to read that somebody is this considerate. Fragrances make me so sick that I get dizzy in my head makes a clicking noise. When my neighbors use dryer sheets I can't go outside and enjoy my own yard. Again thank you for being considerate.
I always hated Poison, which was really popular in the 80s with girls who were trying to be edgy but no matter who wore it, there was an ingredient in it that had that sickening sweet smell of decaying flesh. That name was perfect for it.
Poison reeked! What an obnoxious scent. It used to take over any elevator the user entered and hand in the air after they exited. Makes me gag a little just thinking about it.
I don't think any mother ever wore Evening in Paris! I remember Christmas shopping as a kid at T.G.&Y. I always wanted to buy some for my mother, but my dad wouldn't let me.😂
@@Hard_Car_Life Kids could buy Evening in Paris and Blue Waltz in the five and dime store as gift for mother's. Tweed was popular too and smelled cheap and awful
It’s 2024 and my favorite perfume is still Opium. I’ve been wearing it since 1982 when I was 18. I just love that heady, spicy scent. I’ve been told it smells amazing on me. 🥰
A woman came into the store and I asked her what was the name of the perfume she was wearing. It was Angel so I went and bought it. I wore it my drs appointment and he liked it and went and bought it for his wife. Love it!
Lots of comments about Angel, unfortunately I honestly can't recall the scent 🤔🤔 Can you tell me who it was made by?? I believe there's a Angel that's sold at Victoria' Secrets is this the same one everyone is talking about on here??
Red Door is one of my favorite fragrances, along with Wings, Lauren, Eternity, and CK1. I’m 63 and have been using Red Door for years and always get compliments. I wear what I like, no matter the trends.
Me too! Only scent I have worn for decades and I am often asked what I’m wearing that smells so good. I’ve tried others but always return to Red Door. Love it.
I definitely love Eternity use to wear it in the 80's alot CK One is so lovely & clean scent I also like Light Blue by Dolce & Gabanne very mild & crisp scent
I have been in love with vintage scents since I was a teenager. Chanel No. 5 is still my signature. I also have Youth Dew, Shalimar, Chantilly, Anais Anais and several others on my counter. I always get compliments when I wear them. I say wear what you like - the popular, trendy or "modern" stuff is not always best. In my opinion "dated" has never been a bad thing.
Darling, you've been looking at my dressing table! The only one I've not sampled is Chantilly, so perhaps I'll give it a try. Got my first bottle of #5 in 1977 when I was 17 and have never been without it since then. In fact, I've enough left to see me to the grave as there's un-opened bottles rucked away! I only discovered Anis-Anis about ten years ago and I fell in love with it. I must have three bottles and as for Youth Dew.....ah, heaven! I won a bottle in about 1980 in a Christmas raffle and have never looked back. Have you tried Youth Dew 'Nude'? Not nice. Bought it to give it a try and think my sister took it off my hands eventually. Don't waste a penny on that! 'Dated' isn't too bad a thing to be. I'm like that with really good quality clothes. As my mother always said, "Buy cheap. You buy twice." Quality always lasts. Happy Christmas, when it comes. You might just get some #5!
@@MissJensk1 LOL -- I get that. But the truth is I have worn them both and still do. It depends on the outfit, the occasion, the mood -- all that stuff.
My mother wore Chanel No. 5 for many decades. My Dad got her a bottle each at Christmas. So, it's a childhood memory of mine and I like the smell. Some perfumes come with memories that are important and that makes them timeless. I don't wear it though. It was my mother's scent. I do love Angel.
Same for me! My mom wore it too, and my dad gave her a new bottle each Christmas. Like you, I won't wear it , because it was her scent. Scent memories run deep! 💜
This make me go down memory lane. From the 1980s I remember Änais Änais by Cacharel, Le Rive Gauche by YSL, Loulou by Cacharel, Opium by YSL and Colour de Benetton ❤
Red Door is my everyday Perfume and often get compliments on how good I smell. Chanel No.5 is my most favourite and wear it on special occasions as well as Estée Lauder’s White Linen. I couldn’t care if they’re considered old fashioned because they’re deliciously sophisticated in my opinion ❤
I just picked up a bottle of Red Door to wear around the house...it was so cheap and I can spray liberally and enjoy a nice fragrance without using my more expensive ones...I like the scent
I started wearing Exclamation in my 20’s. I am now in my 60’s. I would get complimented all the time when I wore it. I would still wear it now but I am retired and don’t go out much. My mom wore Opium. It was so strong to me.
I recalled working with one of my colleague at a classy canto pub where we wore Cheongsam as uniform. She wore red door with red lip stick and it had a very classy Shanghai night club vibe. Very oriental. Love the overall feel. I love No.5 by the way. Unique scent.
White Shoulders is another example of how body chemistries differ. A friend wears it, and she smells heavenly, so I tried it. When my husband came home he asked me if the toilet was broken because of what he smelled. It was the perfume on me!
When I was in high school in the mid 70's all the girls wore Tabu. All the popular girls mostly wore it. I liked it a lot until a girl dropped and broke the bottle in the girl's locker room. It was so overpowering between the heat and steam in the locker room it made me sick. Can't go near it to this day or smell it without reminding me of a girls' locker room.
@@F_U23the clear bottle with the curved red cap is the original stunning formulation. Now it's slightly different but still recognisable .I really like it. I've got 2 bottles of it
@@christinegilbert5082 Yes the old one was just wonderful. Then they changed the bottle I noticed that the composition of the perfume must have changed too, something was different. It was still nice but not this "WOW" anymore.
When I was 17 I lied and said I was 18, I became the fragrance girl at Macys in NYC, this brings back many memories and flashbacks of fragrances.this was in the 80’s. Anyone remember Yendi?
I was not fond of Youth Dew but I loved an Estee Lauder fragrance called Cinnabar. I also loved the original Opium. They were both warm and spicy scents that were very sensual. There is nothing quite like them anymore. Angel is a favorite of mine and I recently purchased a bottle. It's definitely not the same as when first wore it in the 90's.
My favorite is Ysatis by Givenchy, which I wear every day. I had a patient who worked the perfume counter at Neiman Marcus & this is a lovely fragrance. I also wear Joy, by Jean Patou, which I have received from a secondary market from my daughter. These are old perfumes from the '60's to the '80's & I realize I'm of the "Older Demographics" as you state. But to hell with what you recommend, one should wear what one LIKES!
Four of the five induce horrific migraine in me, yet I love the fifth (Chanel No 5). I find those who wear Angel/Aromatics in particular seem to become nose-blind to them and reapply constantly, worsening the effect for others. Just goes to show how different we all are.
Yep, that really does happen. Ppl can have horrible reactions to strong scents. That's what happened to me, but not because i wanted it to😢. Now, if my mother arrives wearing Coco Mademoiselle, I send her right into the shower. Also, before I developed this reaction, at nursing school (first day) the professor whispered to me while we were waiting for the other students, and said 'to take care of your patients...you should NEVER wear perfume"...I was crushed! Half my vanity at that point was covered with perfumes....now i can only tolerate like three (Pure Grace is one). Be well!
Each perfume may smell good on its own, but in a department store with all the smells co-mingling is another store. I used to get sick and get headaches just passing through.
Scent, any distinctive scent, is associated with powerful memories, both good and bad. i.e.: My first job (at 16) was in a grocery store. It ended badly. That distinctive smell that seems to be present in any food store, for a very long time, when I'd go in to shop, as soon as I caught a whiff it caused those negative thoughts and feelings to flood back. It literally took decades for me to not automatically go there in my head anymore. Especially because I needed to eat! 😅
Me too, to the point of my anxiety going through the roof and wanting to throw up. It's astounding the power scent can have in connection to bad memories 😢
Out of all of our senses, smell is the most tied to our memories. I still remember mom's Tabu, my sweet honesty, and Irish Spring and Coast soaps. Nothing puts us back in the past more than smell.
Yes, always wear red door, and some friends have bought it, but said it doesn’t smell the same on them. It’s all down to your own chemistry and what suits you👍🤗
I am 70 years old my favorite is angel! Through the years I have loved and wore Estee, Red Door, Chanel. My mother wore Chantilly powder. She passed 20 years ago I kept her box of powder. Occasionally I open it and after all these years it still smells very much the same. Sweet memories ❤
I hate Youth Dew. My mother used to take a bath using a Youth Dew bath oil. She would never clean the tub afterwards and when I wanted to take a bath, I had to scrub out the tub and the Youth Dew aroma was quite strong. I associate the scent of Youth Dew with the act of scrubbing out a bathtub.
My mother passed many years ago. I would love to "clean" a bathtub with the residual of her bath oil. I have never complained about anything she did, laughed about a lot of things, but not complain. I hope you mother is still with you.
I hate Youth Dew as well. My mother in law, I love her by the way, but it smells like pee on her. White Diamonds is another one that smells like pee on a friend of mine, but she loves it.
I have the worn L'air du temps since 1970. I am 72 and still love it. I love floral scents. Just started with Henry Rose brand. Love Sheeps Clothing, just doesn't last long.
L’air du temps was the only scent I wore for 40years. My late husband bought it for me after he smelled it on a flight attendant. I loved the powdery floral scent and always got compliments on it. The formulation changed in the 90’s and it no longer smelled as good on me so I stoped wearing it. I have read that this has happened to many older fragrances because some of the ingredients have been banned.
😮 Red Door ? I absolutely love it , it's the only perfume I've worn for 30 odd years when I discovered it , infact my son just bought me the set of perfume with body wash and body creme for Xmas lol
Your body chemistry absolutely can ruin a fragrance. I know my step mother can't wear Red Door (she says it makes her smell like boiled pig!) but she loves the fragrance on other people. It just doesn't work for her.
Every year for Christmas my Dad bought me Chanel #5. It smelled like BO on me, I always said thank you and after he left, I would hand it to my sister who loved it. After he died, she told me that she told him every Christmas that I loved Chanel #5 knowing I would give it to her. LOL
I love the older great perfumes such as Joy, "the costliest perfume in the world". I remember when First came out the first perfume of Van Cleef and Arpels, a very dressy scent. My mother used to wear Paco Rabanne, and Arpege by Lanvin, a great scent. I was once at the dentist and as he's leaning over me he said "what are you wearing", I looked at him kinda crooked and he said "your perfume". It was Ombre Rose. He said he was going to buy it for his wife. I tend to like sweet. I still wear all of these except Paco. You can find them if you hunt. Except for maybe Guerlain's Voile de Nuit? Don't think I spelled that right. Anyway the bottle had a rosebud as the stopper. Oh and of course there's Lair du Temp. Use to collect all of those beautiful bottles with Laluque crystal stoppers. Great times way back when. RUclips needs an index on perfume names. Ha
I have worn Red Door for over 20 years and I get loads of compliments, people ask me what I’m wearing, they tell me I smell lovely. I don’t get that when I wear more expensive perfumes. I love Red Door
Same. Strangers would ask what I was wearing and where to get it. It was my favorite all time cologne. Unfortunately I developed an allergy to it so can no longer wear it. Teri Woolum LeFevers.
Many scents that used animal products in the past no longer smell as they once did. I am glad for the enlightened animal rights, but selfishly miss the way many scents smelled with them. Opium, Chanel No.5 , etc. no longer smell as they once did - not even close.
I received it as a gift and was so disappointed that they changed the formula. Way back in the 60’s my SIL wore it and I loved it. I wore it for years.
Yes ..I had the old formulation of opium. Then much later I bought one and I was surprised at the change. It's recognisable but not as deep and rich as it once was. It's now also more linear
🔆🔆🔆Chanel No. 5 is tops. There is no other scent that smells as beautiful on me…hands down. But I do not wear it everyday. It is for special evenings out…I use it sparingly. It is seductive on me…and works with my body chemistry! I love it. Gladys🇨🇦Toronto🇨🇦Canada🇨🇦
I wear Estée Lauder perfume and have since the 60 s when I was in high school. When one guy I dated and had not see for several years, ran into me at a restaurant, and giving me a hug, he said oh you are wearing the same perfume! AND a few years ago, when I walked into a room there was a girl who would say outloud, --- is here! Most loved the smell.
I adore No 5, I grew up with Chanel perfumes & my favourites were no 5, no 19 & the original Coco. I still use Coco mademoiselle & no 5 as perfume , body lotions, mists & deoderants. They are staples in my bathroom & everybody knows to gift me those is a safe choice. They layer beautifully. I constantly receive compliments & people regularly ask what am I wearing. Perfume will change on each of us and in the way we wear it. My Mother still has a bottle of Youth Dew on her dresser. She rarely wears it but likes to keep it as it is connected to so many memories for her. I am a fragrance fanatic & I try a lot of Niche fragrances from all over mostly Europe & the middle East, but I still love to fall back on the claasically beautiful Chanel scents.
@@frostflower5555 Yes it was gorgeous , they were all much more beautiful in the original formulations, I feel like im wearing watered down versions of the same fragrances today. I loved Cinnibar by Cacharel , and even that has changed.
Angel is my favourite since I was 18 and daily I get asked what I’m wearing 🤔 I don’t intend to change for trends it suits me I love it and that’s what matters
I bought Angel early on, when I first realized that I love perfumes. I wanted to own it for its iconic status and because I heard it was the perfume that kicked off the big gourmand trend. And of course I can't help but think the bottle is beautiful. But it was a big dissapointment for me. I can't understand in what way it is gourmand. Or I can, but it has no cozy feel to me. To me it is cold and inedible. But I'm still glad I own it. It's distinct and with character.
I'm in the camp of wearing what YOU love. I STILL wear Chanel No. 5 which was also my mother's favorite. And Estee Lauder's White Linen. So tired of other people dictating what others should or shouldn't wear. Life is too short to care what others think.
Elixir, Red Door and Chanel #5 were all my favorites. Can’t wear any perfume now. They all make me sick to even be around perfumes now. 😢. Don’t know why, though?
I discovered Bal à Versailles back in the 90s when it had already been out for 30 years. I love the thick, syrupy fragrance with the heavy amber, musky, vanilla base notes, the vetiver, lilac, sandalwood middle notes and the powerful and uplifting jasmine, bergamot and rose topped off with lemon and orange. There are many other notes in this perfume, but these are the ones that absolutely make me feel like everything is okay. I hardly ever wear perfume, because of the potency and pervasiveness of the ones I love, and many places now ask that you not wear heavy scents because of allergies. But I keep them around to open the bottles and immerse myself in their mood-transforming scents. Others I love are Chanel No. 5 and Opium.
Funny, those were both my mother’s favorites. I, myself am 80 years old, so she has been gone a long time. Good memories, whenever I smell one of those.
My dear mother who passed away 6 months ago wore Red Door for years. She used to tell me how many lovely compliments she received while wearing it. Bless her.
I’m still wearing Youth Dew and still loving it. I’ve been wearing it my whole life because I’ve had people say “wow you smell good!”. Don’t get that with anything else.
Hi Susan, U touched my heart. For me it is Chanel # 5. My dad gave her a bottle when they were first married and each year for Christmas. I keep it in my rotation and use it to be close to mum. I too miss her terribly..have a great day!
I’m 65 and was introduced to Jessica McClintock original (white lace cap) in 1992 and I’ve never looked back or forward. This light but very distinct perfume has all my senses get excited for! It was SO lovely then as it is today. My young granddaughters love hugging me. My daughter in law told me once, she would know me blindfolded in a crowd! She said no matter the years gone by, I have always smelled the same no matter the decades gone! I love that! Most importantly, I still feel fresh, beautiful and elegant wearing it. Till death do us part!! 💕💕
Yes. I have that too and I'm not overly into floral. It's so fresh! They are foremost a bridal wear company if I'm not mistaken & that perfume is so apt for a bride.
I hate the smell of Georgio for women. It's revolting. I also dislike Mitsuko. My favs are Jicky, White shoulders, and opium. Thanks for the review video, it was educational.
Youth Dew always reminded me of my aunt. It brings back memories of her driving up in her yellow Ford Torino from either getting her hair done or coming in from work. She smoked and she always smelled of Youth Dew and cigarette smoke when she hugged me. This was probably late 70’s. She’s long since passed on but I still think of her when I smell Youth Dew.
Everything smelled incredible on my mother, she had that kind of body chemistry. As for me, after 70 years, I've found only 3 that people tell me are delicious on me.
It's not mentioned, and it's not expensive it was popular in the seventies, and I still love it now - "Je Revien" by Worth. A sweet perfume, it's not cloying. Top notes include orange with lilac and hyacinth middle notes, and base notes include vetiver, things I didn't know until I looked it up. It was launched in 1932. Later, it was a popular gift from soldiers to their girlfriends. Apparently, vetiver applied to the skin relieves stress!
I LOVE Je Reviens! I have for almost 50 years! There are 2 new bottles sitting on my dresser now and I'm never without it. It's such a warm, feminine, sweet smelling fragrance that is not cloying and long lasting. ❤
@TheRapnep It is - and though we both wear it, I think we would still be unique, as so many go for modern fragrances, especially younger ones. Je Reviens also comes in the smaller, round blue vintage bottle with a gold top.. These contain pure perfume. I've seen 15ml for around £18 then anything up to about £26. Some are £50 for 30ml. Others may be half full as they are from the actual era, true vintage. There are one or two other different vintage attractive bottles and also miniatures. Nice souvenirs of a different time and place - romantic Paris - yes, I went straight down the rabbit hole with this! But they would certainly look good on a dresser!
Long comment and, beautifully scented story...My late older Sister loved Chanel #5, I mean she LOVED it, it made her smell soft and fluffy like sun-kissed cotton after a summer rain and it usually stayed on her skin until she washed it off, I chose it out of her collection just to remember her but none of us could wear it (She had 3 daughter's, and I have 3) On me, it made me smell like I was dipped in honey before going for a jog so I put it into candle's or vaporizers when I miss her. My youngest girl now in her 30's happened to be born on her Aunty Roses's Birthday but was 5 when Aunty went to rest. (Leukemia) We all love our perfume...I had 4 sisters and am or always was the biggest collector giving them ones I didn't care for on me,. We enjoyed exploring how we each reacted to different scents, and loved looking for knock offs before it was a thing. Now our girls seem to be continuing to use that as a source of bonding. When we gather, they let me blindfold pick something for each of them and just wait to see how they react. It was really something when it was as if Sister Rose was in the room. My nieces felt like their mommy was home, it was really touching to witness them hugging their youngest Cousin. My baby who just turned 30, rarely wears make up or messes with her long hair or natural hair color because she has to wear it back & in a hard hat and spend many nights in her trucks sleeper cab with her farthead Pitbull...but wow, she majestically rocks Chanel #5!!!! as a long lasting deodorant. She is CONSTANTLY being complimented by all ages and huge range of professions esp. Gen Z? Not one person, young or old has even come close to guessing what she is wearing almost daily (everyone is naming deodorant spray's or body wash instead of Parfum) Meanwhile she is this 4'8 110lb, self employed Professional tiny but No BS Pilot Car Boss who knows how to take control during rush hour traffic & shut down bridges to triage & safely mobilize over-height giant wide loads with material used to build steel bridges and pipelines. Not our average Chanel gal lol
Many years ago, I discovered nobody was really wearing Youth Dew. It is very strong so you can’t put very much on. Well, it was very popular when I was a teenager in the early 70s. Flash forward in my middle age. I decided to buy some. I started wearing it on special occasions I’m a redhead so some perfumes just don’t work on a redhead. Well I got so many random compliments from people. What are you wearing? And I had to laugh it had gotten to the point where people had quit wearing it and so it was like a new perfume again.. I don’t wear a lot of perfume, but on a rare special occasion I do. I’ve owned various different perfumes in my life. One of my favorites is Flower by Kenzo. One old school perfume that I still have a small bottle of is Joy. I remember at one time it was considered one of the most expensive perfumes you could buy .
I’ve just bought a bottle of Clinique’s Aromatics, I really like it, and the smell does last a long time. I find lots of perfumes don’t last and I can’t smell them on myself, but I can with the Aromatics. One perfume I hate is Paris, but that’s because my old boss used to wear it all the time and I hated her too! 😬
Ugh. I was at the grocery store when a horrifyingly strong, acrid smell perfume hit me and I immediately got a migraine. I asked the woman what she was wearing and she absolutely beamed, thanked me, and said it was Red Door. Proud of the job I did NOT letting her know that her perfume smelled like it would dissolve the paint off the walls!
Maybe her body odor had something to do with it? I tested expensive parfume on me before and one was real bad. First it was fine and after 30 minutes I smelled like ammonia. My friend had tried it to, and on her is was fine. 🤔
@@pippavombr5856 It was the perfume - I always recognized it when I smelled it. Haven't for years but I'll never forget! Grateful that it seems to have faded from popularity. I used to encounter it quite a lot in Los Angeles some... 30 years ago? 40? LOOOONG time ago. ...I'm getting old. :: shuffles off, muttering pitifully to self ::
Imo, the older we get the older the sent we like. Not because our taste has drastically changed, but that we indulge in our past nostalgias more and more. It gives a sense of “home” and tends to makes us feel comfortable by also giving us the sense of being “safe.” I’m 42, and I’ve worn the same perfume since 16. I wear other body sprays and lotions, but I always keep a small bottle of my perfume with me just in case. My whole family associates me with my perfume because that’s really all they’ve ever smelled from me. It lingers a little bit after I leave, and I remember my mom’s did that as well. I have a bottle of hers and smelling it is so comforting when I’m missing her.
My mom wore shalimar since ww2 which my father would by for her every Christmas. The both have passed so when I’m in Macys I always go by the cosmetics department and get a fragrance stick to bring back memories of them.
I do have to tell you my mother was a wearerof Shalamar and after she passed, I worked for a chiropractor and we were talking about perfumes. I talked about how my mother loves Shalamar and a whole beautiful bottle of Shalamar showed up on my desk.
I wonder if she had an allergic reaction to something in the perfume cause to me it’s such a soft smell. It’s not like a lot of the perfumes nowadays are so strong. Yeah I still have a bottle of someone gave me I’ve done that. I’ll pick up. Take a sniff of it and always smell my mama❤
I love Chanel#5. My father brought a bottle back from France at the end of WW2. She let me use it one time for a school dance. I felt so grown up! I could never afford my own perfume, but my daughter gave me a bottle over 20 years ago. It is almost empty, and I'm quite sad about that.
My Mother wore Youth Dew for years. She is gone now and II miss her terribly so I keep a bottle of Youth Dew on my vanity and spray it on my wrists to bring back cherished memories of her.
It's my fave of those spicy classics like Opium, Cinnabar, Ciara, Obsession, etc.
I get that, my Mother always wore Rive Gauche, I don;t wear it but I love the smell.
Anything Estée Lauder! Ugh. So heavy.
I wear what I enjoy wearing. I care not if everyone else is wearing it.
Personally me neither.. most of those I do not like though. One of my most unique Frags I love is Ormonde Jayne woman
Me too
I really don’t care what others think. If I like it I wear it my two go to’s are Chanel 5 and Muguet! Old fashioned. I don’t care. At 70 I don’t give a damn. Why should I. Modern perfume smells like randy spraying cats! Gross!!!
Absolutely.
Me too
My very first boyfriend bought me a bottle of Chanel’s #5. It has a connection to sentimental memories for me as he was killed in a car accident in his 20’s. It is a sweet memory of him.
❤
My late husband bought me Chanel No 5 for Valentine's Day in 1970. I have it for the happy memories.
My first boyfriend bought me Chanel no5. At the time I was going through my hippie phase and was wearing patchouli oil. He hated that stuff.
I think perfumes can smell different on each individual. What I hate on me, I will love on someone else.
exactly, Charlie stinks on me, but I love the smell!
Our body camistry plays a big part. I use to work at the fragrance counter at the Bay
They do I so agree with you
I still LOVE Angel but haven’t really worn perfume lately…….I love the Ambre oil scents
Youth Dew and Beautiful make me sick🤮
I wasn't interested in Chanel No 5 for years, then tried it one day and fell in love. Go figure!!!
I still wear Chanel no5. I use the body cream on my wrist as it is very strong, but softer than the spray. I use it sparingly, but it lasts. It is one of the first fragrances my husband (who doesn’t appreciate fragrance) liked. As OP said, go figure.
Whoa, I didn't know I wasn't supposed to like Chanel no.5. It's so timeless, I thought.
They changed the formulation, so it is not really the iconic perfume it was. The other Chanels are much better. No 5 is living of its previous fame.
Me too ❤
I love Chanel 5. It is my winter one
I've worn No.5 since my Mom passed and get compliments all the time- ❤
My mother as well. She passed in 2017 and I just recently started wearing it again.
Yes! L'Air du Temps is heavenly. The reformulated versions are not the same as the one I purchased in the 1970's/1980's. It was so gorgeous.
@@bonniel4325 I always get compliments when I wear L’air du Temps ☺️
I worn White Linen when my son was little. He used to tell me I smelled pretty. :D
Modern Chanel No. 5 does not smell the same as it did in the 50s and 60s. It's just not the same. They changed the formula and it lost the animalic edge.
I totally agree.
Did they? I couldn't understand why it wasn't that nice.
All of the Chanels smell terrible to me and I've wondered if they changed formulas.
Was so disappointed when I opened it. I loved the original fragrance.
I bought Chanel 5 for my wife and she never wears it. It’s too old fashioned
I agree. I love magno soap but it smells awful on my sister
Absolutely. I can smell a fragrance, love it, try it on, then end up smelling like old pennies. 😢
Love it! Good for you, Charlie Girl!
I know someone who lets Charlie wear her. She uses way too much.
Which one is the original Charlie, there seems to be a few now, Blue, silver, gold, I used to wear Charlie when I was a teenager I would love to get some for old times sake and memories ❤
@lindabown7810 Charlie Blue is closest to the original, which they stopped making.
I love chanel #5 brings back memories,,I use to wear a Gucci, always got compliments, can't get it anymore, it came out in the nineties
Chanel No. 19 is far nicer than No. 5 but smells awful on me 😟
@@noniousxltruffles7454the original No19 was glorious and lasted on the skin. A lot of years passed I rebought a bottle and was I disappointed. ! It smells completely different and lasts 10 minutes on me . 😢
Love chanel 19
I love Happy by Clinique. Once when .my Air Force son flew home for Christmas he wanted to buy me a gift. He couldn't remember the name of the cologne and went to the cologne counter at a department store. He went through there until the clerk sprayed the right one. Some smells from your childhood never fade, they stay in your memories forever.
department
I've worn that fragrance for over 20 years!
I adore Happy by Clinique as well ❤🥰
Happy is great! I also really like Estee Lauder Pleasures. I hate Chanel No 5 and Red Door, won't wear them.
I also like Happy. It has a very clean flowery sent.
Happy triggers my migraines. Cannot wear this one.
I stepped into Chanel 5. I wear it like armor when I want to be taken seriously and not ignored. It is my favorite fragrance for feeling powerful and not caring what others think. Really, it is genius.
I'm the same way with Gres Cabochard.
I love Red door!! But it's more for a party or nightclub than for the office! It's a bit loud
@staceykersting705 maybe try the body lotion
I don’t know how anybody could hate Chanel number five. It’s a lovely scent. It’s not overbearing. I’ve been wearing it for about three years now.
I think Chanel No. 5 is a strong scent. I use it often, but I usually spray it on a tissue first and then apply it to my skin.
It didn't work for me. Too overpowering.
It depends if the woman knows how to truly spray the perfume! Too many women don’t know how to spray from afar
Anyone remember a sudden popular Giorgio , it was the sudden rage in the 80’s. I was visiting Rodeo Drive as a tourist , and smelt it up and down the street.
I actually love Giorgio.. I used to wear it in the 80's 90's ...but just a dab here and a dab there.. that's all you need
@@alawillow It smelled great but all my friends wore it, so that made me not want to wear it.
My mother in law wore it. I still have a bottle that she gave me in 1990. I finally opened it - it doesn’t smell right. But the box and bottle make me smile.
Yep. It was big in the 80s.
I love Giorgio!
@@karendejong3473It's not an office scent but I think she could have handled the situation much better.
Smelling Red Door is pure nostalgia for me. Smelling it takes me right back to a certain place and time. My mom wore it in 1990, and it will always be the scent I attach to her. It is a beautiful scent.
That smells like rotten crotch to me. Crusty and musty. I'd never wear it...Yikes!
one of my favorites and i still wear it.
It doesn't take much
Beautiful perfume!!
Red Door reminds me of a fresh scent and I actually keep a bottle in my vehicle. It makes the scent so bath fresh. Crazy but I love it.
Chanel is sold in the drug store.
@ too cute by half! You know what I meant!
I have both Chanel No 5 and Youth Dew and also Opium, and I always get complimented on all three of those. I find them sopisticated and elegant, and will continue to wear them because they are me...

That was my mom. And she wore Shalimar. Love and miss you mom, but geez.
ah... the marinated types.
He is the only one allowed to get that close to my neck. laughing...
Know just what you. mean .Less is more. ...
Holy cow why would anyone hate Channel no 5? It's wonderful
It’s way too heavy. You spray it on and you could choke on the thickness of that smell. Sorry, I’ve never liked that stuff and never understood why it was so popular other than the brand.
Too too heavy
@Aoife24601 I do understand that some perfumes can be over powering . Sorry to hear this . Anyway Have a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year

It’s smells heavenly on me.
When I need a memory of my late hubby, I spray a little Chanel No 5. The first perfume he bought me on Valentine's Day 1970!

Beautiful has a nice soft smell
Beautiful has a wonderful scent, not at all for just elder or old women. If you've got the personality or mood for this perfume it suits any women.
Ignore him. He probably likes the teeny bopper scents that smell like bubble gum.
If it's a guy who said it, tell him whatever he wears is only worn by gay men. If it's a woman, tell her her perfume always makes you think of strippers.

I always hated Poison, which was really popular in the 80s with girls who were trying to be edgy but no matter who wore it, there was an ingredient in it that had that sickening sweet smell of decaying flesh. That name was perfect for it.
Very true.
God I hate Poison too. It reminded me of artificial flavour grape Kool aid.
Poison reeked! What an obnoxious scent. It used to take over any elevator the user entered and hand in the air after they exited. Makes me gag a little just thinking about it.
I loved poison in the 80s, we all wore it. Now one sniff would give me a migraine.
My friend loved Poison and I always hated it. I wore Opium, together we must have been so overpowering lol.
Evening in Paris, always bought this for my mom when I was child. Saved up for it. I don't think she ever wore it, loved the bottle. 😅
I don't think any mother ever wore Evening in Paris! I remember Christmas shopping as a kid at T.G.&Y. I always wanted to buy some for my mother, but my dad wouldn't let me.😂

Loved Evening in Paris.
I loved Evening In Paris. Shalimar as well.
Black Opium is my favourite
Black Opium is my favourite as well I have tryed many but I always come back to black opium
I am 70. Loved Opium, still do but I switched to Shalimar 40 y ago. And still use it.
They changed the formulation on the original scent, I don’t like the new version. Sad but true.
I too love the original opium.
Love it.
My Auntie Margaret loved Red door. So do I. xxxxx
Surprised that Taboo wasn't on this list.
I luv eternity and CK1! I still save it for special occasions
I like Shalimar but not Tabu or My Sin. My Mum was into the hose Orientals .
Sorry I can't get my head around the same person wearing Youth Dew & Anais Anais. 🤔
@@MissJensk1 LOL -- I get that. But the truth is I have worn them both and still do. It depends on the outfit, the occasion, the mood -- all that stuff.
My grandma wore anais anais and magie noire. I don't like either but she's much older now she doesn't wear perfume anymore
I will always love Chanel #5, it is classic and most of all it does not kill you with the smell, like most perfumes.😊❤❤❤!!
This make me go down memory lane. From the 1980s I remember Änais Änais by Cacharel, Le Rive Gauche by YSL, Loulou by Cacharel, Opium by YSL and Colour de Benetton ❤
Also wore and loved '80s version of Anais.
lol, we are from the same era!! I remember all of those.
I used Cabochard by GRES ( original) for many years but I can't find it anymore. My friends love it as well ! 🎉
So many of the scents we grew up with are no longer produced. Why!
OMG. I forgot about Opium! I wore that back in the day.
I still love red door
I’ve worn Red Door forever and it’s clean fragrance suits me perfectly. Maybe old fashioned but so am I…….
I just picked up a bottle of Red Door to wear around the house...it was so cheap and I can spray liberally and enjoy a nice fragrance without using my more expensive ones...I like the scent
Same here I love my Red Door ❣️

Red Door…still a favourite..great in winter
Chanel No. 5 has a very nice dry down... it's just the opening that's very hard on the soapy aldehyde, once it settles down it's quite pretty.
I so agree w/your comment. :)
Very true ;)
It's the one fragrance I've usually always had in my stable of fragrances, ever since I was a little girl in the 1960s. It's a classic!
I have Chanel No.5 Eau Premiere and No.5 L'Eau, L'Eau is the lightest. Both offer the beauty of No.5 without the crazy beast mode of the original.
@@mizzLopez Ok, I'll try to remember those as an alternative.
Oh wow! Thank you so much for sharing this experience!
No5, my all time favourite perfume ❤If it was good enough for Monroe it’s good enough for me 🎉

Mine too. Love it.
White shoulders was always my favorite since high school in the 70,s. I still keep a bottle on hand.
Me too!
White Shoulders was one of my favorites in high school.
White Shoulders is another example of how body chemistries differ. A friend wears it, and she smells heavenly, so I tried it. When my husband came home he asked me if the toilet was broken because of what he smelled. It was the perfume on me!
My grandma wore White Shoulders. Reminds me of her.
my boyfriend gave me a bottle for my 21st bday. It gave me headaches, whenever I smell it I hate it.
Oh blimey I remember Tabu, ahh the 70s, remember Coty L'amont too? Oh, the nostalgia!
I love Red Door.
I'm 50 and U love it too 😊

When I was 17 I lied and said I was 18, I became the fragrance girl at Macys in NYC, this brings back many memories and flashbacks of fragrances.this was in the 80’s. Anyone remember Yendi?
Yendi, I had forgotten that fragrance, so alluring!
@ i miss it!
I do remember it my mom used to wear it
I remember Fendi.
@ fendi was good too!
Cinnabar was my 'fav' of the Lauder colognes/perfums. Felt Cinnabar was an improvement over Opium.
The original Opium was divine.
My aunty bought me cinnabar as a kid I loved it
Can't stand any Estee Lauder perfumes....WHITE LINEN BEING THE VERY WORST!😢
My fav’s too!
Ysatis was the finishing touch before going out for a night of fun. My one friend swore it attracted men. 😅
Ysatis is gorgeous 😍
Be well!
@@B.Mega.D Thank you, you be well too!
I got a migraine from New West from Aramis. Now, I can't bear it.
Each perfume may smell good on its own, but in a department store with all the smells co-mingling is another store. I used to get sick and get headaches just passing through.
NEVER reapply ( aromatics) that's called : overkill !!
Some perfumes remind me of very bad times in my life. I wonder how many other people feel this way.
Could be a problem if some nasty guy insisted on giving you beautiful perfume which you loved, and couldn't find anything you liked more!

I also wore Red Door in the 90s and I was only in my 20's. Never thought of it as a perfume for older ladies. Chanel Number 5 is amazing.
Me also
I hate Youth Dew.
You made me laugh. From the sublime to the ridiculous, huh?
Youth Dew is disgusting. Smells like old lady and even the color is weird.
My mother passed many years ago. I would love to "clean" a bathtub with the residual of her bath oil. I have never complained about anything she did, laughed about a lot of things, but not complain. I hope you mother is still with you.
@@dianagalloway9389 I'm sorry you lost your mom. You're lucky to have wonderful memories of her.

I have always worn Red Door and been told it is beautiful. Maybe it is the body chemicals that can change the smell of perfumes.

Ha
Kai is great! Doesn’t last long!
Why no more NEW WEST? My favorite! 500 a bottle? Stop!

Youth Dew is in that category. It just isn't the same without the civet.
How very true!
So true. Shocking changes. I don't even bother with former favorites. Annick Goutal Hadrian is my new favorite.
Yes ..I had the old formulation of opium. Then much later I bought one and I was surprised at the change. It's recognisable but not as deep and rich as it once was. It's now also more linear
Red Door was my mother’s favourite perfume, so I love it…

Men ask you? That is a come on.....
Angel smells amazing, but not on me. It is nuts how body chemistry changes things. Angel smells like burnt rubber on me. It is awful on me. So sad.
Spray it on your clothes instead of skin.

Yes. Some scents smell lovely on my mom but don't resolve (dry down?) well on me.

I LOVE Je Reviens! I have for almost 50 years! There are 2 new bottles sitting on my dresser now and I'm never without it. It's such a warm, feminine, sweet smelling fragrance that is not cloying and long lasting. ❤
@TheRapnep
It is - and though we both wear it, I think we would still be unique, as so many go for modern fragrances, especially younger ones.
My mom wore Je Reviens, a nice smell memory fur me, I still have a bottle of it. ❤
Farthead pitbull! 😂😂😂 That was a great story. I saw it all in my head. 🥰
love Chanel No 5 a classic perfume as compared to some of the new fragrances which are rubbish.
I wear Givenchy Amarige. Been wearing it for decades. I have Channel no5, but it doesn’t flatter me like it does other people.
Fab perfume
Amarige is my fav.
I'm also a red head i find a lot of fragrances smell soapy on me but smell amazing on other people.
My mother wore Joy on special occasions back in the sixties. It was a trousseau gift from her mother. She kept the empty bottle for years.
Get random compliments too! Yay for Youth Dew@
My mother loved Red Door. She would be 102 years old now, Lord rest her soul.
I wear this and have for ever!
My favourite perfume I have worn it for over 20 years
Angel is my signature scent, you’ll either love it or hate it, I love it. I think some of these perfumes had their place in time.
Ombre Rose did that to me.
Maybe her body odor had something to do with it?
I tested expensive parfume on me before and one was real bad. First it was fine and after 30 minutes I smelled like ammonia. My friend had tried it to, and on her is was fine. 🤔
Oh dear, I wear all of these😂😮😮
@@rosem7485 🤣
@@pippavombr5856 It was the perfume - I always recognized it when I smelled it. Haven't for years but I'll never forget! Grateful that it seems to have faded from popularity. I used to encounter it quite a lot in Los Angeles some... 30 years ago? 40? LOOOONG time ago.
...I'm getting old.
:: shuffles off, muttering pitifully to self ::
Imo, the older we get the older the sent we like. Not because our taste has drastically changed, but that we indulge in our past nostalgias more and more. It gives a sense of “home” and tends to makes us feel comfortable by also giving us the sense of being “safe.”
I’m 42, and I’ve worn the same perfume since 16.
A present, or an apparition? I LOVE Shalimar.
My mom loved Shalimar, but when my dad bought her a bottle she couldn't wear it. It gave her terrible headache and nausea. She loved it on both people
I wonder if she had an allergic reaction to something in the perfume cause to me it’s such a soft smell.
