GRITTY in the CITY

- In complete contrast to my last video shooting in the beautiful city of Bath, here I'm getting down and dirty in nearby Bristol. Graffiti, back alleys, broken beer bottles and discarded cigarette butts. All key ingredients to beautiful urban images! This is gritty in the city!

The best city in UK hands down, love the place!!!!
I JUST LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT! ALL OF YOUR WORK!
Nothing wrong with the seedy side. As an Aussie I thoroughly enjoyed Bristol’s graffiti. Your video brought back many memories.
Fantastic. You have something more important than even the best gear. You have a superb eye.
Hi Craig! I am always amaze by the pictures that you have been taken.
They are sharp and so interesting. Keep going. I liked what you have been doing. I follow your channel.
I
Great. Your artistic eye is stunning!
Great vid Craig, the kids and I went to Bristol in Feb 2020 (before lockdown), loved it. will deffo be heading back.
I also went to Bristol in Feb 2020! Would love to go back when I can.
Such a cool guy, thank you for documenting the true side of bristol ❤️👑
You have very quick eye. Thanks for the inspirational video.
I find it interesting while watching the video and then seeing the shots that you take. I can always see why you have taken the shot but never would have seen the shot myself. You manage to get some great shots out of stuff that most people would just walk by everyday.
I have exactly the same thoughts when watching :)
Thats great Craig the best urban photographer bar none
My favourite city! You capture it in such a unique way. Fantastic 👌🏻 you e inspired me to go there again very soon! Awesome 😎
....So if I never say this again you should know that I truly appreciate the idea of seeing 50 shots in a 15min video because you continually and consistently demonstrate that finding images - anytime, anywhere - is what makes photography fun - not just finding 'masterpieces'. DO NOT become lax with the soundtrack selection. Thank you.
Simply Awesome
Great. Good to see down to earth photos with no pretentious. Good stuff
Best thing about your vlog is: you show a subject, and couple perspectives, compositions, angles. So everyone watching this film can make a choice ,,how I would make a composition". And that's great. That nice
Brilliant.
So nice to be able to wander safely on your own and focus fully on compositions without worrying about being attacked as I would be here in South Africa.
Excellent video!
Love this video, very inspiring and definitely makes me want to go out and think differently about my compositions. Thank you!
Really inspiring !
Great look at parts of the city people just pass by or ignore. Find interesting what other people notice & capture...The Art of Street!!
Loved it ... Thanks Craig
What a great way to start a day, watch one of Craigs vids and be inspired...love your shots and treatment of the Uni building.
Great to see you in my home city. Blimey, you did do some some walking, especially when you consider how steep the hills are! Enjoyed seeing Bristol through someone elses lens. Cheers.
I love it! Great shots in bad weather, it's the best motivation to go out and take photos.
Love the disclaimer at the end Craig - excellent video as usual!
Damn, Craig, you make it look so easy... 🙈
You are very talented and fun! Especially love the B&W images and the phone booth/church door. Thanks!
Another inspirational video. At 8:46, as soon as I saw those broken up cobble stones in the road, I thought that'll make a nice shot and sure enough you did 🙂
C’est incroyable cette ville. Merci pour la découverte
Definately my kind of photography. You are so keen to clearly define what you want the viewer to see and then let them interpret it for themselves. Gritty is best. Would love to know what lens you used on the 'girl with pearl (firestop) earring'.
Craig “The Eye” did it again: simply marvelous shots ! Kudos, nulli secundus ! 👏👏👏
I love your approach to photography, Craig, incredible inspiring!
The city I grew up in and a place I have photographed many times but I still come away from this vlog with some fresh perspectives. Nice one Craig! Truly inspirational! 👍
Thanks for doing this, brought back some great memories of the city I grew up in. I haven't been back for 15 years but might just have to go back and get some shots. Great video and some fantastic shots
You clearly have an eye for the city Craig, I wish I did... Some stunning images, great video.
Great images very distinct.
Craig, thank you for this, you were indeed in your photographic elements again. Love the video work showing your 'eye'.
Great video Craig, just goes to show that there are picture opportunities everywhere, you just make finding compositions look so easy...…… you've definitely inspired me to get out and give it a go!!
I’m continually impressed by your creative compositions and framing, Craig. It’s no small feat to come away with so many keepers on such a gloomy day traveling by foot in the city! Doing your research on locations definitely paid off.
very creative and inspirational work, thank you for sharing.
Some fantastic gritty shots Craig, well done sir!
I really enjoyed this walk about. You have a great eye.
Absolute quality my friend 👍
Some real nice compositions there, very inspiring to get me up and out shooting. Out of interest what of the above list of gear produced the majority of the keepers.
Craig this is one of your best. And your take on photographing the graffiti is inspiring. Thank you.
Excellent!!!
Another inspirational Vlog, well done!
seem like a cool guy man, nice video, hope ur doin good thru this pandemic
Truly epic.
love, great video. very cool images.👌😍 Thank! sir.
Another great video Craig. Some of your photos are on a wall in a pub near Blackpool that I visit occasionally. Good Stuff. Incidentally, in the interests of accuracy they're setts not cobbles!
Your ability to find the composition and understanding of lighting is outstanding and truly inspiring, your gift. For us mere mortals, particularly myself, although looking for that composition, finding it is challenging if not impossible.
This church red door 😍😍😍 Brilliant !!! I’ve discovered your channel pretty recently and I absolutely love it ! Will definitely do a workshop with you when I come to the U.K.
There's always a small rubbing of hands when a new E6 vlog pops up. Excellent as always, shame the weather was dull as ditchwater but I guess that's part and parcel of outdoor photography.
Looked at this for the third time and decided I needed to comment. You really do some interesting and nice to view work. Thanks!!!
Great Vid thanks for posting !
What a good job you done here on such a horrible day, most of the pictures would not have worked but for the added foreground interest, every picture was well composed....after seeing your pictures it looks like I will have to reshoot some of mine which I have taken in Birmingham....thanks for sharing and giving me some great ideas for a later shoot....
Brilliant compositions. Love the way you manage to find the angle and perspective away from the obvious. Interested to know how you managed to find such interesting locations. You'd obviously done some homework online ahead of the trip. For these type of handheld street shots would be interesting to know what camera settings you used (ISO, lens, speed etc).
Cool images, damn i just like the 4/3 format so much more than aps c or full frame, but cant seem to find the ideal camera.
Great set of shot!!!
Keep snapping!
I think places like you visited in this video tell a much stronger story of a city than more historical buildings. You captured some brilliant very strong images, every composition was fantastic. I’d love to know how Banksey does those massive images without being seen, if he watches your videos he might tell me.
A great video as always, offering something different and fantastic.
Another very inspiring video.
Thank you and keep up the good work.
Regards Ulf
Wow, a very good video. Also the photo you take is incredible. The different perspective you showed in the video is very good for the viewer. It's show more of the process than just the end result.
Super helpful. Do you mind sharing what lens focal length you prefer for this type of work?
Excellent images as always, Craig. You should check out the street art in Glasgow and get shots there sometime too.
The shot at 8:13 was my favourite. Such contrast it almost looks like two separate photos side by side.
Lots of inspiration there 👍
Look forward to the next instalment
This video should be sponsored by the Bristol tourist board. And by the institute of composition inside viewfinder (if there is no such institute, we must invent one). It is fantastic to behold how you declutter reality, sir. Even when gritting scenes up.
The church doorway through the phone box window at 9:25 is particularly good!
Really awesome and inspiring work, as usual. How much do you shoot handheld vs on a tripod when you do a walk like this?
You smashed it. Love this video really really cool I am 100% going in a couple weeks can I pm you get some ideas of where to walk as I do not know the area. But me and the wife need some of this. Wicked
Excellent. You know what ? 2 days ago, I was about to ask you for this exact type of video as I'm going to walk in the 13th district of Paris ( near La Butte aux Cailles if you've been there) in a couple of weeks where there are very nice graffitis . I was asking myself how I could handle that. Now thanks to this video I've got some keys. Which camera did you mainly use that time, Pen F ?
Love the punchline 👍😂👍
True grit.
Fantastic, as always!
What I don't understand, is how come you have 27K subscribers, and not 270K....
I know, damn that '0'. My 27k are the best though...well, most of them!
Some absolutely amazing photographs in some dubious areas. Did you at any time feel apprehensive especially carrying around expensive photography gear?
You have a very powerful eye
Composition at 3:25 was so unexpected but I really dig it
10:08 big ups paro boyyy
Inspiring. But not all that gritty compared to the "less desirable" parts of Vancouver. No panhandlers, nobody sleeping (or passed out) on the sidewalks (pavements). Or did you avoid that kind of area?
BAD BWOY SHOTS. BRAP BRAP.
Great video and awesome graffiti. Makes me miss the UK for the grittiness of the street shots you can get. It’s all a bit more layer back here in Calgary. Yes we have graffiti but the building back home in the UK add that extra dimension. Thanks for sharing. Instagram @followcsp
As always very interesting, just missing a intro of a youth rapping to "Its gritty not pretty in the city", thanks for sharing.
All the best........Peter.
Ahem, I believe it's youT :) ;D
Not a fan of graffiti, artistic or otherwise. That said, your composition of the church door is impeccable.
The place looks a real mess, but great video and interesting shots as always!
too many composition "rules"
