Hi ,I’m a Bristolian and all my family were born there,but it’s changed so much over the last 30 years and I don’t personally think for the better 😢but saying that I still love it. The famous actor Cary grant was also born in Bristol. Maybe you should visit Blaze castle it’s another famous grounds and house in Bristol it’s very pretty.. thanks boys.

we live in Cardiff, but visit Bristol for a day/night/weekend out every 6 to 8 weeks. Christmas Steps is so quirky. (It was the Easter Steps in one episode of Casualty). The Clifton Suspension Bridge visitors centre is well worth a look. Clifton is a great area to stroll around and love the M-Shed and the cargo container pop-ups.
Love being a true Bristolian, lived here all my life, now in Ashton vale 15 minutes walk to Ashton court were I can play my favourite sport, disc golf on the amazing 24 basket course 🥏👍
Oh we’ve never played disc gold but it looks a lot of fun. We would need to be somewhere remote though otherwise people and property could be in danger 😂

You can stop in the Harbourside information Centre & grab maps of the Banksy artworks around the city. The one you liked with the man hanging out the window is a cheeky nod to the health clinic that lives/lived in that building.
We didn’t…. This time but we will definitely be back as we already have a whole other itinerary of things to do! The tower of course being one of them!
Bristol is great if visiting for the landmarks but not necessarily to live. It’s overpopulated (I think it’s the highest percentage growth city over the last decade) and it’s super expensive to live. To rent somewhere under 1k might you might get a flat, and a couple on a combined salary of 100k plus might get you a mortgage on a 2 bed house away the away from the central areas. Traffic is real bad a peak times and theres now a clean air zone with poor signage so any slip ups in your Diesel car will get you a fine. For every nice bakery or cafe there is 4 kebab shops. I’ve been here a long time so naturally my opinion will be different to others.
Thank you for sharing. Obviously we can only comment on the city from a visitors perspective so it's good to get some local perspectives for anyone who may be considering making it their home.
I visit someone who is a Bristol resident and I must agree that visiting Bristol is different from living there. Property prices are well up to expensive areas in other towns and of low quality generally. A lot of rents are expensive and for the space offered as you say and damp is a real health problem in a lot of properties. Buying food and drinks out is prohibitively expensive in places and there doesn't seem to be any cheap alternatives just mostly tourist rip-off prices. car ownership in the centre is difficult because of ULEZ and the mysterious "Bus Gates" where you can be fined without realising it. Also easy to stray into a bus lane where there are cameras to catch you unawares. Best to use a Park and Ride and just use the buses in the city centre. Bristol is showing it's age as far as shops is concerned. Debenhams still stands empty and The Galleries has not much going on. Not much for a city of its size so best to give it a miss and shop out of town or elsewhere until the council gets its act together and decides what it wants Bristol to be for it's residents.
I'm off to Stresa next month. It's a small town on lake Maggiore, in northern Italy. One of the most beautiful places on earth. I find these videos funny. Aww... 'bristol' 😂😂

Lived there for 38 years and most people from there think its shit. The only people who think its cool and edgy are those not from Bristol. It's over priced and over rated. It's been ruined and gentrified by hipsters from London/South East. Had a vibrant music seen 15-20 years ago and the centre had some interesting shops but now it's over priced shit.

You cannot walk anywhere now without being approached by people who are looking for "spare change"Crime rate is high and every night ambulances tearing through the streets. M Shed on a weekend is crawling with drunks who end up fighting and to combat this the police arrive on horseback. Am I biased? you bet I am. I have travelled the world for more than 30 years and had never been bothered. I come to Bristol to visit my daughters I get accosted by people lookimg for money for drugs and when I say that I do not have any money on me they insist on walking me to an ATM.
