Love the sketch. The colours are stunning. The only thing I struggle with is negative space. I tend to be maybe too literal, how do YOU decide which elements to leave paint free?
Loved watching this Toby We have had a house on this street in Robin Hoods Bay since 1977 It is on the left nearly opposite the Dolphin Inn and to see it coming to life in ink and watercolour was magical .Thank you .
A very useful tutorial. I have walked down this street in Robin Hood's Bay many times whilst on holiday.Have painted the view further down the hill. Will try this view in your in your style. It will be useful exercise in loosening up! There are lots of sketching opportunities in Robin Hood's Bay.
Hi Toby, Thanks for all your videos. I have learnt a lot from you. I like to have your opinions on this. I plan to get a set of watercolor from Daniel Smith 24 color palette. It comes with extra tin and the tin has middle small space for paint brush. Of course the paint quality is great. Is it a good set to start of? I have been practicing with watercolor pencils but now I think I can start watercolor palette. Would like to see what you think? Thanks again from Canada.
Daniel smith are fantastic - 24 colours is more than I would suggest starting with, if nothing else, because of expense :) I think a happy place to start is 12 colours, then you can build up as needed.
Sooooo helpful and what a delightful style! I loved watching this video and I have been watching several others today! Can you tell me which model of the Platinum Pen you use and what size nibs do you recommend?
This was great, Toby. I would encourage you to do more of these longer youtube videos. This was excellent. Love your vibrant colors and your linework and the framing.
As usual interesting new techniques & materials. I would like to know how you part the paper from the thumbnail if you are to frame your piece? Thanks.
Appreciate the longer video with increased detail as to your thought process. Hopefully you will do more of these!
More to come!

In this video it's the 3776 with UEF nib - I'd recommend the platinum preppy 0.2 or 0.3 as a starter pen though.
Thank you!@@TobySketchLoose

Thank you Toby, for showing that going wrong in the sketch isn't a death sentence. It's only some ink, paper, and time.

I have a guillotine I use to trim down most of my art
@@TobySketchLoose Thanks. Why did I think Aquarell paper should be roughly torn & not nicely cut straight ? I thought you had an ingenious method!
❤️👍🇨🇦

Great. Thx😊
No problem 👍
