How magical Toby!!. I just love watching you create your paintings, I will tell you that I have tried but…inevitably I end up with a spider web of sorts!!!.😂❤

Thank you for the example. I like this minimal watercolor. I'm always overdoing with watercolor. I don't know what to color and what not. 🙍‍♀️

The people in those houses must've been surprised to see you painting them and not the castle on the other side of the street!

Interesting to see how you chose your scene and the light and shade falling on it. I'm really getting into this negative space thing too after your ten days course! You've made the sketch far more interesting than the actual scene -;great work

Thank you Martin - the scene was actually very very pretty - I'm sure it would have worked very well in many styled

Hi Toby! Thank you very much for the advice on where to start a sketch. That's *exactly* the question I started asking myself recently 😅 (just two weeks into the sketching).
    Wish you a wonderful day!

Thanks so much Toby! Never ceases to amaze me how these little "scribbles" actually turn into something "AMAZING".. Working on doing something around my own hometown outside, doing pretty good w/ reference photos and following you.. going to check out your courses!! Happy sketching 😁😁

Thank you for your interesting videos talking through your thought process as you paint. i was just wondering why you did not put in the many shadows on the buildings in addition to the shadows on the chimney pots. I would have been tempted to put them in.

Great suggestion! I simply stopped because I felt there was enough. I like the really bold negative space and didn't feel a need to affect it any more. Your idea could have worked though too

Very much enjoyed this one. Couldn't help but wonder why no yellow on the side of the big house and rust colour on the roof of the small house. I keep coming back to your tutorials and enjoy watching. Just being inquisitive not critical.
I would love seeing an example of your commissioned work.
Self taught here and discovering watercolour at 74 years old. Thank you for what you do.

No specific reason really! I wanted them to be mostly negative space and stopped when I felt it was busy enough - your ideas could well have worked

Thank you, I really enjoy your videos, I learn a lot. It's also very interesting to see the environment where you live and sketch, a bit different from my surroundings in Sweden. I thought, if you'd like to know, the name of your case "måla" means "paint" in Swedish (the verb). Greetings from a fan in Sweden.

Thanks for watching! And thanks for the info 😀 I go to Sweden every year, lovely country, amazing landscapes, and even better berries and mushrooms 🍄

Great video Toby. I always forget to do splashes! Not art related, but why two sets of headphones?? 😊

    • @TobySketchLoose
      @TobySketchLoose  Год назад

Good question! I use the big over ear headphones for listening to audiobooks/music - they're noise cancelling :) The other headphones I actually use for running, but I've found their mic is surprisingly good for recording too

Makes sense. I thought the Beats might be the ‘visual cue’ so you don’t get disturbed by passers by who might chat with you! The bone conduction ones are brill for keeping aware of your surroundings whilst out and about sketching.

Bravo❤ Hmmm. I'm wondering if it might be interesting to do the exact same view starting with Watercolor first and then adding the lines?
