As a norwegian and a "bergenser", I'm actually really impressed by your pronunciation, especially the western and northern pronunciation! I find it so cool listening to Americans talk Norwegian bc I know that the english language doesn't have the rolling 'r' or scarring 'r'. Keep up the good work, bc your norwegian is really good, mate!
I´m from Ålesund in Norway, and i have to say i am really impressed by your accent! I mean u almost speak native norwegian, it´s almost freaking me out!
How cute you are! I love your smile when you talk about Norway.that shows your respect and love for the country and I love it couse it's the same that I have. I love your videos, keep on!
Very impressed by your pronunciation skills. Most immigrants in Norway are planets away, hard to understand mostly any of them if they try to speak Norwegian. All Americans I`ve met and heard in Norway has this typical American accent. You did not, which I find very impressive. There`s one thing I would like to add when it comes to dialects, Norway has one of the shortest distance per dialects in the world. That basically just means dialects in Norway varies very quickly. A short ride and you can hear clear differences. One good example would be, but far from unique, from Kristiansand (where I am from) to Vennesla, a 12 minute drive and you actually need to listen closely to understand what`s being said. The difference could be compared to Norwegian/Swedish, with many different words and a clear difference in accent. But you actually don`t need to drive 12 minutes, 5-15 minutes in whatever direction you drive out from Kristiansand and it`s already accepted as a different dialect, and in some cases the accent is noticeable different too. This is more or less common throughout most of Norway, with the Greater Oslo Region being the only exception, even though there are differences there as well.
+Maryam ' Northern Norwegian sounds a bit like Swedish I guess. I am from the north and I am surprised how many Swedes understand me, compared to the Norwegians that do. But this really shouldn't be true. I want to try something. See if you can translate this please? (It's northern dialect) "Katti fær du avgåre?"
I am from Norway, and you did those dialects perfectly!! By FAR the best english representation of norwegian i've ever seen! FYI 27 grader is like 80 degrees so there wouldn't have been 20 feet of snow :P
Being norwegian and all, I have to admit that's just the tip of the iceberg. There's a lot more dialects. You didn't say anything about the southern dialects...
Trying to learn Norwegian after about two years of learning Swedish, it's challenging not to speak in the Swedish accent so this was really helpful, thank you!!
I'm from North-Norway and i can aproove your way of speaking our Dialect ;) You only missed when you said: Æ kom fra Bergen! It's Æ kjæm fra Bergen, wich means i come from Bergen ! But if you suddenly took a flight from West Norway (Bergen) to North-Norway and a guy asks you where you came from? Then you will say: Æ kom fra Bergen ;) I came from Bergen :D
I come from the mid part of Norway (Trøndelag) and we can have a really broad dialect if you know what i mean. Some people can have a broader dialect than other for example. English: My name is Leif. Eeastern norwegian: Jeg heter Leif. Not so broad trøndersk: Æ heite Leif. More broad trøndersk: Æ hæte Læf. That didn't have so much to do with the video but i thought it would be fun to tell you a little about from where i come from:)
E tru'kke han ha hatt da heilt ænkelt hær heller, om an sku ha rækt ut hær.. Mæ tanke på at østlænningan slit mæ å førstå ka vi sei te tider xD knotått mæ dialækta XD
If you have to generalize it then there are 4 main groups, North Norwegian (nordnorsk), Trøndelag Norwegian (trøndersk), West Norwegian (vestnorsk), and East Norwegian (østnorsk). Sometimes. But still inside those 4 are 50+. there is so much variation it's ridiculous.
Brilliant, I'm Swedish and I couldn't hear any American accent in your three versions of "I am from Bergen" that you spoke. All sounded very authentic Norwegian dialect/language.
You got REALLY nice ear for accents, I'm impressed. Of course dialects and me haven't really gotten along....I'm from Aalesund, never visited Bergen but that's where everyone thing I'm from.
You have, dare I say, surprisingly good pronunciation. Wasn't expecting much from someone across the sea :P Ooo, dare you to try southern - Slow, laidback, danish-like, Northwestern (Møre/Sogn) With strong rolling R and a "downhill/negative" tone, and also Trøndersk - i can't descibe it.. seemingly random long vowels and heavely nasal?
The only difference I heard from meeting Norwegians here in Miami was the Northerners (from Troms and Nordland ) said "Æ Kjem" where the 'Kj' had a shh sound to it , lot of Norwegian words have the K consonant sounding like Shh Unnsdkyld , Kylling etc
They say it's easier for an American to learn Chinese than Norwegian xD but the pronunciation we have in the north is probably easier to learn than the eastern, tho the words may be harder xD
+Anne Lise I agree.. I don't speak NyNorsk.. But i understand them, cause im from norway of course.. And when learning nynorsk, you'll pronounce them just as how it is written!
Impressive work on the dialects, esp. the Bergen one. I was not expecting that - actually on the same level as the eastern kids trying to bring da Bergen-style
Well that northern dialect was one of the more "outwashed" types. I would say "E kjæm fra" but then I'm from a really small place... XD I have to say, your imitation of the dialects wasn't too bad tho, better than a lot of Norwegians xD I guess that old man was from either Finnmark or Lofoten tho, if you imitated correctly :p
Northern you don't use "kommer" we say "kjæm" in most of the parts. Like "æ kjæm fra Bergen", or some would say "kommer", but not chop it in half and say "kom", "kom" means come, not been or coming from.
You know alot about norwegian, but that northern dialects cut words had a bad example. Æ kom fra Bergen means I was coming from Bergen, which is a little out of context. They would rather say æ kjæm fra Bergen or just æ kommer fra Bergen, because then it's in present tense, like I come from. 😉
His teeth are brighter than my future
As a norwegian I just have to say that your pronunciation and knowledge of the norwegian language is extremely good. This was really impressing!
***** Thanks!
I agree! impressing
Agree. Far better than most I've heard :) (americans speaking norwegian)
*Impressive.
This guy looks pretty Norwegian himself.
Guy: Your way?
Guy: My Way?
Australian: Nor way
what the heck you sound like a native norwegian
Those teeth are amazing. Just wanted to share this.

I am a girl from Norway - eg kommer fra Bergen faktisk! You are describing our country and us as a people perfectly! From me you`ll get an A!
Everyone's talking about dialect and I'm here like 'he's SO attractive' ...I'm here because of a Wattpad story tho
He's such a sweetheart!
Very impressed by your pronunciation skills. Most immigrants in Norway are planets away, hard to understand mostly any of them if they try to speak Norwegian. All Americans I`ve met and heard in Norway has this typical American accent. You did not, which I find very impressive.

When you imitated the old man, it was extremely easy for me as a swede to understand!
I understand norweigian OF COURSE but What I mean is that the pronounciation and everything is much more similar
+Maryam ' Northern Norwegian sounds a bit like Swedish I guess. I am from the north and I am surprised how many Swedes understand me, compared to the Norwegians that do. But this really shouldn't be true.
I want to try something. See if you can translate this please? (It's northern dialect)
"Katti fær du avgåre?"
Most wholesome dude I've ever seen
I love Norwegian accent

I found tord

i`m from germany and we also speak a hard "r" but i can´t speak this beautiful norwegian "r". I´m going crazy ^^
Impressing. Your western (Bergen) and northern dialects are way better than mine, an eastern norwegian (Oslo) :D
I'm impressed by your pronunciation! I'm from a Norwegian town called Harstad and it's a little north from Bodø and I think you sound almost Norwegian
I must say that this guy is of extraordinary beauty, his eyes are not of this world.
I'm English and learning Norwegian and I found this video really interesting. You're really good at explaining this, thanks! 👍
As a Bergenser I would say that your Bergen dialect is quite good.
In Northern Swedish they chop their words in half too.
Omg you melted my heart when you said " Eg kommer fra Bergen"
Being norwegian and all, I have to admit that's just the tip of the iceberg. There's a lot more dialects. You didn't say anything about the southern dialects...
GakkGakk United good point!
+GakkGakk United De e faan mæ sikkert ja.
+Prepare to Serve! You are norwegian? Great vid. Props if you are american :))
+GakkGakk United Og Møre-Sogn og Fjordane, Trøndersk :P Dei e unik
Of course they are American. Who would ever watch videos about Norway made by Norwegians? And how often do you see christian scandinavians anyway? ;)
Trying to learn Norwegian after about two years of learning Swedish, it's challenging not to speak in the Swedish accent so this was really helpful, thank you!!
At the beginning I was thinking the guy is Norwegian!
No reason to be ashamed of your dialects, you probably pronounce the way better than most Norwegians. :)
Wow. For being an american, your norwegian is fantastic! Im impressed!
Then you will say: Æ kom fra Bergen ;) I came from Bergen :D
æ hadde sagt at æ kommer fra Bodø istedet før kjæm men det kommer ann på dialekta
Awesome job with this. Love the respect for native speakers.
I come from the mid part of Norway (Trøndelag) and we can have a really broad dialect if you know what i mean. Some people can have a broader dialect than other for example.
English: My name is Leif.
Eeastern norwegian: Jeg heter Leif.

That didn't have so much to do with the video but i thought it would be fun to tell you a little about from where i come from:)
Vel, siden du først er inne på det med å skrive ord som man uttaler det, er det jo like greit å skrive "Jæi heter læif" på øst-norsk dialekt! :)
My name jeff
Linda Kjellman Super broad trøndersk: æ hæhææ læææ ææ sjø
I wasn't expecting that when he started speaking Norwegian. Could have fooled me! Hørtes ut som en nordmann for meg! =D
That was really good dialect impression.
You are actually pretty good in speaking norwegian! :)
Im native norwegian, and your norwegian is very good.
han skulle kommet te finnmark så skulle han fått sæ en smakebit

the way he said that he comes from Bergen in the bergen- dialect was actually really good!
I found pewdiepie's long lost brother.
Aww what a Cutie! I like him!
Being a Norwegian person, this is amazing-
If you have to generalize it then there are 4 main groups, North Norwegian (nordnorsk), Trøndelag Norwegian (trøndersk), West Norwegian (vestnorsk), and East Norwegian (østnorsk). Sometimes.
But still inside those 4 are 50+. there is so much variation it's ridiculous.
I'd love to pet him - I'd bet he has really soft hair!
This is very informational. I'm developing an interest towards Norwegian language, so thanks!
WE'VE FOUND TORD MY BOYS
Brilliant, I'm Swedish and I couldn't hear any American accent in your three versions of "I am from Bergen" that you spoke. All sounded very authentic Norwegian dialect/language.
Idk why I love Norway and Norwegians so much. I barely know anything about the country.
pewdiepie but rich
so handsome!
You got REALLY nice ear for accents, I'm impressed.
Of course dialects and me haven't really gotten along....I'm from Aalesund, never visited Bergen but that's where everyone thing I'm from.

I think this was really impressive! :) Very good observational skills and good pronounciation :)
he's cute
He's actually vrey good in my opinion, in pronouncing the dialects :)
You nailed the dialects.
Dude, you`re good at norwegian dialects! Better than any american i`ve heard :)
wow, your northern-norwegian is really really good actually. close to fluent!
That was really good Bergen dialekt. I think you were very good! :)
Very impressed Norwegian here! All the best.
I love waching american's talk norwigen, kinda funny.
But he was good. :)
I come from America and I wish to learn Norwegian. If I were to speak slowly, trying to pronounce every word, I'd fit in the North of Norway xD
They say it's easier for an American to learn Chinese than Norwegian xD but the pronunciation we have in the north is probably easier to learn than the eastern, tho the words may be harder xD
Mariann Martinussen lol
+Mariann Martinussen yeah and for some phrases, our sentence structure changes completely:
Bokmål: Hva gjør du?
Finnmark: Ka du gjøør?
Hoo Dini yeah i would acctually say: ka du gjær? Or: ka du styra mæ?
Mariann Martinussen It's weird how we live so close but talk so different lol
I am from Bodø and only the elders say "kjæm", the rest says "kommer
and if i were to say "i come from" i would probably say "æ e i fra"
Dude! Your "Bergen" is spot on! :D "Eg kommer fra Bergen."
If you want to learn Norwegian, I would advise you to learn Nynorsk. That way, it will be easer for you to undertand the other dialects in Norway.
+Anne Lise I agree.. I don't speak NyNorsk.. But i understand them, cause im from norway of course.. And when learning nynorsk, you'll pronounce them just as how it is written!
honestly im in love with him--
The oslo dialect has a lot danish in it from when denamark kidnapped our country and forced us to read and write danish instead of norwegian :)
His accent is fantastic...
You speak norwegian better than most norwegians xD
as a Bergenser im proud of your attempt of bergensk
Impressive work on the dialects, esp. the Bergen one. I was not expecting that - actually on the same level as the eastern kids trying to bring da Bergen-style
you speak norwegian really well!
This is really fun to watch! Eg kommer fra Bergen btw ;)
you speak very good norwegian btw
Really good norwegian
Bodø is more in the middle of Norway, Finnmark is the North which speaks a dialect closer to what Oslo does.
I'm Norwegian, and darn you're quite good tbh ^-^
Oh wow!!!😲Your norwegian are so good!! Especially the northern!!😀
That’s super interesting. Thanks 🙏🏻
Northern sounds like the beginnings of English, sounds just like "I come from"
+Taylor Lynn as most children from North norway says; " We're lazy "
Northern you don't use "kommer" we say "kjæm" in most of the parts.
Like "æ kjæm fra Bergen", or some would say "kommer", but not chop it in half and say "kom", "kom" means come, not been or coming from.
Kristiansand NORWAY and die hard LEEDS UNITED supporter 😊🇬🇧🇧🇻
yes he looks Norwegian, but he looks and sounds mostly like a clean and wholesome Pentecostal young man. Am I right?
+Sandra Clark Close: Mormon.
Im learning norwegian on duolingo and i need the accent
wow! you are realy good! how long did you stay in Norway?
the old man dialect whas so good! :O
Just saying, Norwegian media, has to include so much of different Norwegian
I am 1/4 Norwegian. I also would love to learn the Norwegian language.
..ja det va vintern i nittini.. :-D Thumbs up!
I just searched "norwegian accents" and ironically I pulled up a mormons video. I am a mormon. Perfect irony.
Wow, you're good! 😃
Impressive pronunciation of different Norwegian dialects
You know alot about norwegian, but that northern dialects cut words had a bad example. Æ kom fra Bergen means I was coming from Bergen, which is a little out of context. They would rather say æ kjæm fra Bergen or just æ kommer fra Bergen, because then it's in present tense, like I come from. 😉
I am amazed by how similar the Northern Norwegian dialect can sound to English.
Just part of the Germanic dialect continuum I suppose
really good norwegian!
Eg komme fra Bææææærgen! Very nice!
Would totally belive you where from bergen ;P
You’re right
