Hats off to the entire SketchUp team for ambient occlusion.....it goes where diffusion cannot. And, a big thank you to you, Aaron....for always enlightening us with what's new and much more.
Ambient Occlusion, I have been waiting 10 years for this...
Great update guys. Look forward to getting into it.
this new version of SketchUp is the best update ever
True
Loving 2024, great new features and performance improvements
Ambient Occlusion does look sharp!!!!
Amazing update. The ability to auto render terrain heights and snap multiple locations together helps me a ton for my project im working on. Ambient occlusion looks great as well.
SketchUp is probably gonna get better and better every year.
Great job Aaron, really good explaining 2024 so far. Have a great day.
Excellent review - thank you🙏
Disappointed two years in a row. Performance improvements are great, but bug fixes and feature additions are what excites me. I can’t believe I still need to move tool palettes between monitors every time I start. And how frustrating that after all this time I still need to reinstall all my extensions.
"I can’t believe I still need to move tool palettes between monitors every time I start. And how frustrating that after all this time I still need to reinstall all my extensions." YES & YES!
...another great video thanks!
Looks like a good update. Thanks.
Thanks for walking us through. I am always frustrated Mac and Microsoft don't have the same display format. I had to find ambient inclusion.
Can we round off edges yet without paying a third party another 100 bucks?
Great Update Features
Is ambient occlusion going to make its way to the iPad version and/or the paid web version?
It's already available on iPad. : )
just for fun downloaded new 2024. after choosing options looks like its not responding and not doing simple tasks. Is 2023 version more better or same ?
Hi there sketchup! I recieved de 2024 version fore ipad (pro 2022 M1)
And i must say!: The ipad has some serious trouble running this great program right now!... its "lagging" and the lines are not "crisp" anymore.
Hope sketchup comes with a fix fore this.. Or, it has somthing too do with the settings i run.
Thx you guys!
Thank you sketchup!
Wow, Ambient Occulsion ... been waiting for something like this since V2 ;O)
2024 looks great, however, when will tool bars and extensions transfer between versions?
Please improve interval auto save feature. its always so long to wait the autosave if the files/3d getting bigger
Is the enhanced graphics for Sketchup something which has to be enabled (like in Layout) or is it on by default?
Unlike LayOut, SketchUp's new graphic engine isn't 'experimental', so it's on by default.
Got to hand it to them, the Devs nailed it with this one.
Thankyou
Indeed it s a great version. But do you know why the problem with trimming objects that changed starting from 2023 version persists? In 2022 version if you want to trim an object with multiple other objects that intersect it, you launch the command, choose the first object and than if you click the others one by one trimming is done . In 2023 and 2024 you have to press trim solids command after every trim. Also in past versions when trimming, if you press escape that means it let you choose the first object (the trimming one) and you don t have to exit the command. In 2024 you have to exit command every time to choose another first trimming object. It is a mess when you have a lot to trim. Can you pass this problem please , maybe a solution could be applied? Thank you
YEs!! new sketchup is much faster than version 2023!!
I love sketchup 2024 :)
How do I get the SketchUp logo T-shirt please.
Lots of cool architectural features. Looks like Sketchup is no longer competing in the maker space since complex milled and printed shapes are still a problem.
All these great improvements yet still no Radius /Diameter Dimension tool in Layout 🤷♀
The location maps are out of date. If you use Google Earth, they are more current. That is disappointing. Is there a way to get these views updated?
The nicest thing so far is simply the program Launching well! Was so clunky would start, crash , restart, crash and after 3 to 5 times would finally stick. The second best thing is not wasting half a day trying to get my 3D Connexion mouse to working again after the upgrade! Just install the latest Mac driver and Wow, everything's working?! No Way, impossible! (I can't imagine how anyone can work without this device) So kudos there!
How many months do we have to wait for the second release of 2024? I don't do first releases.
Been using Sketchup since 2012, always love it and promote others to use it. AO and speed improvements look great. Teddy, that seems like a poor choice.
Maa Shaa Allah Sketchup is best 3D software
How do I get the people you have in that model?
You can find many 2D people on the 3D Warehouse: 3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/search/models?q=2d+people
*happy sounds* lol
4:10 I just love how u use mouse cruiser movments to act like u making points, lol
I bought the new Sketchup 2024 and it is very good! . BUT! - if someone had any plugins on earlier versions of SU, these plugins will usually no longer work in the new version of SU 2024 and you have to pay (if you have paid plugins) and install them again. The new version of SU 2024 is very sensitive to old plugins and rejects them. you only need to install plugins that are adapted to SU 2024, otherwise they will not work. (there are some plugins that still work with SU 2024, but there are very few of them, such as 1001bit) which is a pity.
Some of the more complex (usually paid) extensions may need to be updated by the developer - which I assume most will. Skatter for example didn't work right away on v2024, then released an update. Check back soon for updates or post a question to our forum for more detailed support. There's no reason to pay more than once for an extension and I have yet to come across any of extension that doens't work in v2024
I ❤ SketchUp
layout lagging is not 1 of my favorite
I'm still using SketchUp Pro 2015 because it isn't subscription.
Goat
2021 here, for the same reason.
2019 here. They took the whole subscription thing too far. . .
still using make 2017 because it does everything I need. Parts store opens with plugin. Would buy 2024 if they cared to sell it.
The new Share Link feature is so outdated. It should display social media icons to choose from where to share, including email and text message options. Not just copy link.
como tradusco al español.
Hos can i get free plugin??
No plugins here... this is all native in SketchUp for Desktop 2024!
Toolbar Editor doesn't work in 2024.
We use SketchUp for Concept Design why on earth can't we export RVT file from it? importing Revit to SketchUp we is useful but exporting skp to rvt will be way way way usefull.
Revit has the ability to import a .SKP file as a family. You should be able to do that, right now!
@@SketchUp Yawn old news. What is needed is SketchUp exporting to Revit as native. Concept Design (skp) and SD stage (Revit) that's is the missing link and the most important part and you guys decided to do the Revit to SketchUp import.
Sorry you are feeling tired... Unfortunately, The creators of Revit do not allow third parties to create RVT files. If you can get them on the phone and talk them into allowing third parties to create their proprietary file format, we might be able to make that happen...
@@SketchUp We found several ways on our own. a work around. not 100% but 98% ok with a dynamo script and a massing technique. damn it. you guys should talk.
wake me up when they bring back sketchup Make and one time buy pro version
Cue the complaints ... 😂
Again, another lacklustre update! Adding features/tools natively would be a better update, in my opinion. Also, updateing Layout UI to streamline creating 2d plans/drawings would be better. Don't get me wrong, performance updates are always appreciated, but a change in Layout UI is long overdue.
I am a skp user, since version 5.
To date it saddens me to see that it has fallen into a comfort, a maintenance business model.
The real improvements of the program come from others such as VB and its development with 5d, for Bim work in the same direction as Revit.
Remaining only a program of first analysis is limiting when the program has all the potential to be much more robust.
This policy of ´´maintenance´´ and cosmetic updates discourages wanting to renew, frankly I would like to see a much more substantial skp, much more avant-garde, not just one that enjoys the top without maintenance, nor ambition to surpass itself.
So far the new version has been unusable. Constant bug splats for me.
