It is a huge time saver to be able to push/pull with modifiers and using the push/pull function instead of move function to keep the extrusion perpendicular to the face without a reference. Thanks for detailing a tool i thought i knew backwards and forwards. How about a video strictly on modifiers for default tools. You're explanations and examples are so much better than the brief and vague modifier menu describes. As always, thanks for your time and tips, always worth the watch, always learn something new even when i don't expect to. You guys are awesome!!
If you check out our Square One series you will see that Aaron dives deep into each and every tool, including every modifier! ruclips.net/video/kPuAmFkRzms/видео.html
hi sir, I'm just asking if maybe you have sometimes encounter that when double-clicking the surface (push command) it goes the opposite direction? it's like I'm expecting the other way around, imagine a 2-window opening, the first opening I push it to create a hole, then for the second window I use the double-click shortcut to repeat the process but instead it goes to make a extruded window opening and not a cut opening. thanks in advance.
SketchUp is a surface modeler: all the geometry is made of edges and faces. A SketchUp Solid is hollow. When you send the STL to a slicing software, that takes care of the infill for 3D printing.
I'm used to work with move + inferences locking, so I don't really use the stretch method. But I almost expected to find the double click tip to pushpull by increments. Guess it'll come back around in another video 😇
It always happens when I used Toggle Create New Starting Face and I want to go up, the new face goes down. What am I doing wrong? Does it have to do with camera position?
Really useful. I been using sketchup for a while but still having trouble with exporting the model to layout. Normally I would export them to Autocad which I think much easier to prepare for printing. If you could, please make a guide on that matter with sketchup layout. 🙏🤧
Do you mean pulling perpendicular to the ground, rather than the face? Push/pull will always pull normal to the existing face. If you want to pul parallel to an axis, you would have to use an extension.
This is perfect you mentioned exactly what I needed, but left out the MOST IMPORTANT PART. What IS the modifier KEY??????? To create new face? You say to press it, but what do you press??????????????????? I'm using an online version of sketchup, and it has no info at the bottom.....
Modifier keys are different depending on your operating system. The status bar is at the bottom of every version of SketchUp (Desktop or Web). That will display which keys do what. If you are not seeing this bar, it is likely that your window is off the edge of your monitor, you may try maximizing to see if that helps.
Excellent presentation. Knowing what can’t be done or unexpected behavior for a tool is just as important as what can be done with a tool.
Thx that was very helpful to learn.
Especially the last example and solution (where the sides of the wall are not parallel) is good to know. Thanks again Aaron for this video!
Its possible in Sketchup web to use push/pull with modifier when inside square we have circle?
You tutorials are so awesome! I appreciate you non intimidating, easy to understand approach.

@SketchUp Fantastic, i will go back over that list again. Thank you for letting me know.
Can you recommend something to clear unconected lines? I have mass model to do and is look loke I can not close boundary
Check out the extension CleanUp3 on Extension Warehouse!

Nice video, I can't remember ever using the stratch modifier but there have definitely been occasions where I probably should have.
I have a problem making 3d models for printing using push/pull.. Even if I make it look solid its still hollow 😒 you didnt tell us a way to fix this ?

Hi. How are you orbiting and panning without mouse moving? Do you use left hand on a second mouse or something?
Yes, that's right! Aaron uses a 3D mouse. Check out this video with more detail: ruclips.net/video/p2yvhY3JULw/видео.html
the fifth example was super revealing for me. Thank you
All the problems described are quite familiar, and sometimes I couldn't understand the issue that caused them. Thanks, Aaron.

Can’t imagine trying to figure this stuff out on my own. Good instructional videos.
#6 double click, It will move same amount as last time used. Sometimes you don't know what direction it will go though.
When I draw a rectangle the back or grey face is on the top .how can I change this to get the front or white face is on top by DEFAULT?
Newer versions of SketchUp do this by default. it's possible an upgrade will solve this issue for you.
12:20 Styles - edit - collor - by axis
thanks man, well done. That helps me out.

What issue are you facing with layout??
Good stuff. Thnx
I really would like to be able to push/pull not perpendicular to the face, like pulling a chimney out of a pitched roof.... That possible?

Add double click effect... it push or pull a surface with the last measure used
Thank you
