    This grading video is EXACTLY what I needed! I have been wondering for months how to do grading, or if Sketchup even does grading. Now I know. You saved me so much time and energy. Thank you.

    I didn't know that you can use Create from contour on curved edges.

    I immediately wonder if there's a way to calculate volumes, say between existing and new surfaces.

      Aboulutely! Designers will use SketchUp to calculate things like earth removal or back fill. All you need to do is make the geometry into a solid, and SketchUp will tell you the volume!

    Can I use a topographic map to create a grading model?

      Yes. There are different ways to start...CAD contours, height map, hand draw, etc
