  • Today I am helping a friend turn his Civic into a cooler rice burner by installing a short ram intake. In the video it may be a little hard to tell the difference between before and after, but the customization afterwards make it sound a lot louder in a good way. Please comment to ask any questions that may not have been answered in the video. Please consider subscribing and please like! Thanks for watching and have a great day.

    NOTE: If you are not on board with installing short ram intakes or cold air intakes into YOUR car then that is fine. I don't understand why people who don't like something watch a video on the topic and then continue to comment about how such a terrible idea it is.

      I’m new to this. Are short ram intakes just for sound?

    • @octaviusthecrafter
      @octaviusthecrafter  9 месяцев назад +1

      Well it not mainly for the sound. If you want different sound, you would want to do something with the exhaust, like a cherry bomb, or something similar. This just makes the air cooler for the intake, which will make the engine run better and more powerful, since it allows it to breath. I also have a cherry bomb video on my channel if you want to take a look.

    i think leaving that old piece of pipe from rest of stock intake is a good idea since when driving it will draw the fresh air towards your filter. nice vid

      I live in Texas & that's why I'm about to put a short ram on my Civic. Air intake is currently stock, but I run a Weapon R header with a cheap exhaust system from Car ID & a Flowmaster high flow muffler to not have that fart can look. It has some noise to it already but it needs a little more oomph to it.

    do a true cold air intake where you take out ALL that nasty stock crap from the front bumper and winding hose. its insane what type of power it gives the 1.8. it's like a whole new beast. i had a short ram for a while, even with a proper heatshield. just not the same.

    • @TheJedimaster6788
      @TheJedimaster6788 Год назад

      @@mistercrash2845 yes, there are some available. 1.8's are underrated in the modding world . people underestimate it just because it has a cvt and was "made for economy".
      if you put a TRUE cold air intake and put 3 inch tubing all the way down to the front bumper, get rid of the highly inefficient and disgusting stock intake tubing that severely limits the vtec and capability of these engines, get a throttle body spacer, get better spark plugs, wihch i already have. it's awesome. My next plans are to get a tune from hondata or something else that's cheaper, get a cat back with a header to make it even better. honestly? . even just with the bolt ons i did makes it MUCH better and more fun to drive. especially in "S" mode.
      they are fun cars and the 1.8's are great for modding.

      @@EhMaac if you watch the video, around the 12 min i literally show what lines I remove, and what I am replacing them with, and that metal ccv line you are talking about? Yes, that was replaced with rubber tubes in that kit I have due to the metal part being incompatable and hitting the new intake. I would assume that both lines need to be reconnected for it to function. The issue you are having with it shutting off after running for a few seconds I never had so it's kinda hard to help troubleshoot cause I wouldn't know how to fix it until I encountered it myself and fixed it too.

      It sounds like you installed it wrong. Double check you have everything put in correct. If its over heating something may be blocking something. If this fails put OE parts on and see if the issue is fixed. If it is well you figured out your problem. If not, you problem lies else where and is a coincidence. Hope this helps.

I did a little research and in my opinion (though possibly wrong) is that as long ast it's the 1.8l i4 and it's orientated the way the one in the video is, it should fit if it's the cold air counterpart to the short ram I have. Though just to be sure, if the site has a part compatability checker, put in all the information about the car it needs, year, trim and engine. Hopefully this is useful information!
