- I give a full hands on review of the Fujifilm X-E3. This mirrorless camera is a huge deal because of what features it offers for its price point of around $1,150 USD. For hundred of dollars more you can snag an Fuji X-T2 or X Pro 2. Personally I own the X Pro 2 and was very curious if I could save money and buy this Fujifilm X-E3. Even though I enjoyed all of the time I spent with this camera thanks to BHPhoto for sending it over, I still feel I'll keep the X Pro 2 and it mainly comes down to the screen softness flaw. That bothered me a little and a few friends who use and own the camera. But the savings may be super worth it to you. So check it out at the link below. If you want a compact, decentish, 4K camera and one that has outstanding image quality, check out this Fuji X-E3

When you said it gets jittery between shots. It’s just the power saving mode reducing frame rate. This can be toggled in the settings.
My power saving setting is off but it still does when viewing the shots.
I just bought the X E3, I own the X-T2 and X100F and I must say the XE3 is an auto focus beast. It’s faster than the X-T2. I played around for a couple hours with the touchscreen and then turned it off, it’s not for me. But the camera is awesome!
I had the X-Pro1 and an X-M1. I loved the X-pro1 shooting experience, but found it just too big to take in a jacket pocket, so i bought the X-E3 which by the time I got mine there must have been a few firmware upgrades to improve review, as I don't find the screen a problem. I just love Fuji cameras though. Thanks for a nice little review.
thanks for taking the time to watch!
If you are left eye dominant, never get a rangefinder style camera. It will only cause you heartache. Besides, it kinda defeats the purpose of the style (can't see anything coming into frame). Get an x-t20.
Being blind in the right eye ive learned to adapt. Also i hate using touch screens and avoid using them.
Eric Wilson I can definitely see that but I’m left eye dominant and have loved my XE1 for years. I’m sure that will lead to issues with my upgrade to an XE3 or newer, but I love that body style too much to go with an XT30
I have my XT2 and used only my tilt screen for less than 1% of the time for 2 years now. I have my eye on this.
Yes same here, tilt is useful but so infrequently used I wouldn't miss it!
Love "be careful where you point your beak". good review, thanks
I'm switching from the XT10. I'm still not sure if I want the XE3 or the XT20. I'm kinda leaning towards the XE3 over because it's lighter and smaller.
personally, i like the versatility of the x-e3. That being said, the xt 20 is a popular camera.
EVF is clear as crystal!
Love the XE series, great “walk-around’ rigs. I currently use my XE-2s as my “street shooter” and the X-Pro2 for more serious work in addition to my X-T2. While I would love to see a future XE- with dual card slots and weather resistance, I highly doubt that Fuji would produce such a camera that would no doubt cannibalize X-Pro sales
What lens do you use for street?
man you have big hands!! congrats :)
haha yeah, but this is why its more of a travel street type of camera in my eyes
I thought you can turn off the touch screen when in EVF mode. This way you can still use the touch screen functions.
Thanks for the screen resolution comment: you are the first one to mention it but could be a deal breaker.
hey it stuck out to me and bothered me so had to share
Like me, it looks like you are left eye dominant when looking through the EVF. In addition to inadvertently moving around the AF point, there is also the issue of smudging the screen and having to clean it constantly.
Exactly!
Thank you, Eric. This is informative.
anytime!
The nose to the screen is not a huge issue for right eye dominant people
true, but it can be for left eye dominate
@@Eric_Rossi Exactly, I debated between the X-T20 and X-E3 and knew that even though right eye dominant my nose would be on the screen of the X-T20 and be an issue. Finially decided on the X-E3 and love it.
I’ve got the XE3 but I’m on the verge of selling it and getting a xpro2... Somehow it feels I’m missing something...
yeah, I was actually pretty interested because its a bit smaller but the screen alone I wasnt sold on.
Eric, I put a screen protector on the screen, and it's even worse now with the screen being blurry! I can't tell if any shots are in focus. But the shots come out in focus when imported into the computer.
yeah I can imagine, I dont understand why the screen is so bad though. Doesnt make sense
Hey. Which camera would you recommend - Ricoh GR II or Fuji XE3. I care about good quality photos and not about making movies. Thanks.
Its a tough call, all depends on the features you want and your budget. But the gr ii is falling a bit behind now it needs an update. I'd go with the Xe3 at this point. You can change the lens and its much faster.
Hey. Thanks for the video. That is, these cameras are almost identical in photos. Is x-e3 too big in the video?
I notice you looked through the camera's viewfinder with your left eye that was why your nose would hit the screen in resault of changing the auto focus point by accident, because of that I guess you're left handed. People would touch their nose to the screen when it is a typical DSLR viewfinder position setup
Right handed, but left eye dominate when shooting.
Commenting on the lag if you put it in boost mode the lag goes away..
Thanks for the tip. How big is the impact on the battery life though?
You should buy a thumb rest for your x-e3! it looks great and gives you better grip for less than 15usd
that would help totally! I'm glad my x pro 2 is built with a better grip though but yes those thumb grips are awesome
I know this is an old video lol but I think that lag is the same thing my XT2 does when not in boost mode. I think it saves battery life until you half press the shutter
yeah its kind of a lame feature imo
Hey Eric Xpro2 has highest res rear screen of all fuji cameras xe3 same as the rest. Xe3 is a great backup body for xpro2 as same form factor works great with Fuji efx 20 flash just like xpro2😁
Do you own or have you used the xe3?
Yep I have both have used fuji for years xpro2 my favourite I've been enjoying your videos over hear in the uk
The lensmate thumb grip for xpro2 is awesome by the way it's hinged so you can get to dials easier
Hello Eric... I'm from India and love streetphotography and planning for XE3 which lens would be ideal for me ? Need your advice.
I am struggling to the the X-E3's images onto lightroom. It says they are not supported. Are you having any problems like that?
Are you up to date for lightroom, I would check for an update. I havent heard any issues
That's all it was! Thanks!
awesome!
So if I sail the 7 seas with an eye patch, I might have problems with the files support?
Joe East hi Joe, I’m super late to the game but in case you’re still struggling with the de files you can always use Adobe dng converter and it will convert your Fuji files into a dang format which Lightroom will accept if you’re using an older version of Lightroom. I’m using Lightroom 4 so this the extra step I take when using more modern cameras.
waiting for the Fujifilm X-H1 to come out in a couple weeks
we all are!
Hey Eric, great review. I already have nikon 5300 and planning to buy another one for traveling. I can’t decide between sony a6300 and fuji xe3. I also shoot them in raw and I’ve been watching many reviews but I stillI dont really know which camera has overall better image quality. Need help!!!
thank you. Do you care mainly about stills or do you want something more video focused?
Mainly stills, occationally video but not majorly concern. I'm starting to do street and food photography.
Id probably go the a6300 for that matter but both are very similar. You will like the feel of one over the other and the menu system etc.
I think personally i would consider a used X-Pro 2 body, right now they are about 1200 euros: do you think the extra money is worth it? (i think in the review you said "yes" but i didn't understand if you were talking about selling yours or buying one, sorry if i misunderstood)
Yeah so I think its worth the extra money for the X Pro 2. The screen is an issue for me, but I know that may not matter to others. Personally, I'd take the x pro 2.
Fabrizio Fornasiero personally I love the color rendering from xpro2 more then xe3
Not a fan of the swiping. Thanks for the review!
I'm not sold on it either, its not horrible, but ehh it still works
Can you turn off the LCD screen when using the EVF to prevent changing auto focus points or other settings?
yes, you can set it to have both on with the sensor, just the evf or just the lcd
Or even better: disable touch screen or touchscreen input (you can chose what does what).
thank youuu 🤗
anytime!
are you surviving the weather? great sample shots
I am..for now lol. Thank you!
Hey,
Currently I'm using xt1 so is it good move to xe3 please suggest
youd def see a leap so yes!
@@Eric_Rossi Thank u broi
Great video! I was wondering can’t we just turn off the screen like on the x-t1 & 2? I only like to use the screen when checking out my photos later own. So I slays had my evf come on whenever I put my eye to it and never the screen. This would be a major issue with my if it doesn’t have that option.
oh you totally can, personally I use live view mainly but just wanted to point out the annoyance for people who like to have both that you can switch between
Surprised the xt20 didn't come up in this conversation...
Like price wise? To me it was between these two. That doesn't compare to the xe3 imo
Eric Rossi yea just in terms of price and size. Joystick vs Flippy Screen etc. IMO they're both great. XE3 is the looker but the XT20 functions marginally better...
Why has no one made a complete tutorial for this camera? I'd love a video, but would be happy with a book. But it seems that it's being ignored by the tutorial writers. How come??
Not sure man, I'd ask those channels who make them why or request one. I'd venture a guess to say it wasnt getting the views they think they'd get. So "why waste time on a tutorial" Just a guess though
Is it a good idea to sell xt2 and go for xe3?
the xe3 was a good camera, I didnt like the back screen though.
Biggest disappointment is the swipe commands on the screen, a royal pain not reliable, I disabled this all together.....also I think display show whether pictures are sharp or not Just fine and my eyes are 61 years old....Really should have a flip screen also.
yeah the screen is the biggest issue for me, but besides that the image quality is worth it.
make sure your swipes start off the screen :)
Cool
I really dislike the idea swiping every time just to change something, imagine how dirty that screen will get after some time.
exactly, its nice to have, but I would prefer it more external. Like I said though, you can assign and customize things to other buttons
You can use function buttons and program them accordingly, so that you dont have to touch the LCD at all. I also like the screen clean and its easy to work around it without touching it
Can you tell me is it smart to sell x-t2 for x-e3? I dont shoot professionally and no video either.
Not sure you're really gaining anything, I'd just keep it. What would be your reason to want the xe3?
Eric Rossi thank you! Smaller, lighter, perhaps? But i have x70 for that. Guess ill keep it. :)

Yes Screen is bullshit - Shame on Fuji from all his fans!
