They made his toms, bass drum, and snare drum sound like cannons going off absolutely beautiful sounding! Also it is the sound I am going for! Thanks for the vid man drums sounds good. You could've put plastic wrap over those drums, and they would've sounded killer. And, those sound like the old-school recording customs, too. I still have mine from '92. And, even with the old style tom mounts they sound amazing. You did Aquarian a big favor with this demo. These sound amazing. Well done!

      @@javiapontenashville Yup…I finally broke down and picked up a set of the Absolute Hybrid Maple (just got them last week), which sound absolutely stunning, btw. But, I got them to compliment my Hot Red RC’s (they need the bearing edges re-cut, at this point). Call me crazy, but I just prefer the sound of the original RC’s. Yes, they are more subdued, but they sound warmer, as well, IMO. This video with that head combination really showed that off. Was fun to watch. Not many videos of original RC’s out there these days. I’m glad I found your channel.

    What a amazing sound does that studio x produce. I love the sound since first time i hear it on a PDP. Totally change the sound of that PDP. I immediately put on mime. It has a peculiar sound even mic and live. Awesome! The question is, I don't know if you had have the opportunity to listen the Evans genera dry for the snare, from Aquarian, which snare head do you recommend me to my snare? Something similar I mean, very dry and low pitch. Thanks! Great vid!

    • @javiapontenashville
      @javiapontenashville  7 лет назад

      Well, first of all, thank you for the kind words... glad you like Aquarian Drumheads, they are simply the best drumheads period! In regards the snare drum head, it all depends on the kind of snare drum you're talking about. Not all the drumheads react equally to a snare drum and less likely to be from another brand. A comparable snare drumhead for the one you just mentioned would be the Triple Thread, a very dense drumhead that projects very well in hi and low tuning as well. It also has a great feeling to it and is very versatile. Hope this helps...

    • @javiapontenashville
      @javiapontenashville  8 лет назад

      Wow Jordan!! That's pretty cool gear man! I think it just has to do with the mic placement, the type of snare drum and the tuning. Obviously the type of drumhead plays a big deal of matter too... The snare drum is a solid ply maple shell and it's tuned mid-high for a nice crack but keeping a nice amount of natural tone of the drum... THANK YOU JORDAN!!!

    • @javiapontenashville
      @javiapontenashville  7 лет назад

      The mics are Shure Beta series. As far as the mic placement there's not to much I can say other than the standard positioning. The mics looking towards the center of the drum where the stick makes contact with the head and in the case of the kick, the mic is placed in front of it...

    • @javiapontenashville
      @javiapontenashville  8 лет назад +3

      Hi Brenda!!! Thanks for your kind words! i'm using a Focux X Coated on the snare drum and a Classic Clear snare side on bottom. In terms of tuning, I do the following: I use the DrumDial for the bottom head and tune each tension rod to the same amount of tension with it... For the top head I tune all the rods as low as I can go without wrinkles showing in the head. Then I identify which one is the lowest with the DrumDial and start tuning the rest of the rods by that lowest pressure. Ussually ends up with the top head one to one and a half step lower than the bottom head. Hope this helps you! Good luck and happy drumming!!

    • @danlc95
      @danlc95 Год назад

      You could also check out the Clear Super 2 w/ X Ring (MSR2__). They're a two ply head (5mil top ply, 7mil bottom ply), and have the same Studio X ring featured on the single ply models on that two ply head.
      Roy Burns sent me out a set for my lesson kit way back in the mid 2000s, when they were released. I stopped teaching there in 2007 and they're STILL on that set and sound great!
      The Studio X is my favorite tom head, but I'll be experimenting more with the Super 2 w/ X Ring more in the future.
