    Still amazed at how different this and the Remo video sound in comparison to The Evans. Classic Coated and Ambassador are really close, but the G1 sounds muted! I did the test for myself swapping out all three on the same snare and sure enough the G1 was muted by comparison. Good to know.

    Does anyone have an opinion on why the deep vintage ii has more overtones than the force ten, when it's basically meant to be a force ten with a thick coating on it?

    • @Timpanopercussion
      @Timpanopercussion  4 года назад +1

      Hi Jase, every "Modern Vintage" has more ring than the "regular" coated heads. That's how they made them! The thicker/darker coating is used on the Jack DeJohnette and the Reflector model. Hope this helps!

    • @oblivionwalker8613
      @oblivionwalker8613 4 года назад

      Classic Clear are your traditional tom reso heads. If you play lightly, or just like a lot of overtones, you can also use a High Frequency (7mil) or if you like beefy sound with more tone control you can use a Studio X.

    Ok, so thanks for this video I really watched already 50 times...
    As a drum-beginner (been guitarist and keyboardist for 20 years, but... got bored :) ) I'm searching for "a sound". Until now I had a 13x5 wood Pearl Rythm traveller snare, I tried Aquarian Triple threat & Remo Emperor X on it, and now switched to a 14x8,5 stainless steel LP Banda with 42 wires.
    Question now : the Aquarian felt better to me than the Empo X, and when I watch this video, I feel like I could really be interested in this heavy mid-low-resonant-body-thickness in pretty much all of the Aquarians... Could someone confirm this??? Otherwise I'd go for Remo Ambassador Fiberskyn or X/X14, for the "breathe".
    Second question: I tried very heavy heads as you can see, but I want more stick rebound. Is it a good choice to think thick one-ply heads (10>14 mil). I want a deep fat sound, not realy detuned, still lively and a bit agressive... (so yep strange I did go for a steel snare, but I thought with the 8,5 depth, and the 42 wires snare, with the right heads, it could work... otherwise, I'll have to switch to this cool duo-birch tama snom...??)
    Thanx beforehand, everyone!

    what is the differences between vitage coating and "normal" coating ?

    • @Timpanopercussion
      @Timpanopercussion  5 лет назад +5

      Hi David, the difference is in the constancy of the thickness of the coating. Vintage coating is meant to imitate calfskin. Those little irregularities gives you more warmth and ring compared to "normal" coating. Hope this helps!
