As a Muslim, I'm literally enjoying your vids so much!! I always knew the Book of Genesis and the Quran was similar but I never knew it had almost the same stories lol anyway, great job as always!!
It's not "almost" the same story, the start of all 3 main Monotheistic religions is the Old Testament, which is pretty much all of the Jewish book, then Christianity and Islam added their own stories based on who they believed was the Messiah. I think it's very neat how this video can make 3 different but similar religions grow closer :D
A fun fact about Jacob’s name (from a guy who’s native language is Hebrew). In Hebrew his name “Yaakov” (יעקוב) and that sounds like the Hebrew word for heel (akev - עקב). In the story, Jacob held Esau’s heel while they got born.
As an unwashed heathen I appreciate the abridged format for what was otherwise a very difficult book to just sit down and read. Excellent animation and voices as always.

7:35 the Isaac joke is in hebrew but basically in hebrew Isaac's name is יצחק(pronounced itshak) and in hebrew this word means "will laugh" (in hebrew adjectives are diffrent than in english) and it's supposed to be funny because Abraham and Sara laughed when god said they will have a child even though they are very old. also "he laughs" in hebrew is צוחק pronounced tsohek.
As a jewish person and native Hebrew speaker who took bible analysis classes on the book of Genesis, I think you portrayed it very well and also got some of the intricacies of the book that give it a lot more dimension and symbolism. Awesome video!
I am Catholic, he seems to be missing some important details, (for example Ishmal was heavily implied to being rough with Issac which is why they were sent away, God clearly told that the heirs were to come from Sarah, but she didn’t believe him and made Adam do it with Hagar etc) but anyone who comes here for details will surely be disappointed.
I wish this video existed back when I was a christian. My understanding of the book of Genesis was always to be very flawed because I didn't see it as an ancient book, but yes as accurate history that had to somehow fit modern christian dogmas. Now that I am an atheist and also an obsessed student of HIstory, I can say that this kind of videos are really helpful for me to understand these ancient writings. Thanks for your work mate.
I recommend ‘The bible project’ podcast to you. Especially the episodes ‘how to read the bible’ from 2017. They are super interesting on understanding how the bible was written. It blew my mind. I’m curious what you will think. Especially part 3-7

10:17 in the original text, Esau is actually a simpleton who speaks like a caveman, but the people who rewrote the Bible in English and other languages thought that it was too boorish, so they made him speak all sophisticated
So he’s like “GWAR GA BUNGA KOK!” “Why would you want feet Esau?” “GONG GAK LOO ME KOH” “Ohhh my bad food! Just surrender your birth right” “GEAH BAK FOU ME LOJK” “Ok I’ll take it as a yes”

9:18 That scream was so real and unexpected, I couldn't stop laughing for 5 minutes straight 🤣🤣🤣 Great video, I loved the attention to detail and the funny gags that came along with it. However, if I may, there were a couple of things I noticed that were missing. For one, I'm surprised you didn't mention Satan being the one controlling the snake (since he's the one who started all the madness) or the Nephilim being the main horrible humans during Noah's day. The Nephilim were giants who were fathered by traitor angels (so I guess hybrids and not full humans). Before that, the angels had created physical human bodies for themselves to inhabit in order to have relations with the humans. I just thought it'd be important to mention as, aside from Satan, they were the first demons (for those wondering, during the flood, the angels abandoned their human bodies to go back up to heaven but God told 'em to stay the frick out of his house). You also kind of forgot Lot, Abraham's nephew, and his story. I know it's not super big but I thought it was an interesting cautionary tale to include about the consequences of disobeying God. For those who know what happened to his wife, you're the real ones. And to those who don't, don't worry, it's nothing to get SALTY about. Overall, still a great video and very accurate for the most part. As a strong Christian, I can't wait to see you cover the next part.
I don't think there is any source confirming the snake in the garden of eden was controlled by satan The first source of that i know of that says that is the novel known as "Paradise Lost" and paralels have been made between them im sure

and that’s the book that’s manipulating billions of people…
As a Muslim, I'm literally enjoying your vids so much!!
I always knew the Book of Genesis and the Quran was similar but I never knew it had almost the same stories lol
anyway, great job as always!!
As a Muslim i confirm your emotions

@@Geniusft lol
It's not "almost" the same story, the start of all 3 main Monotheistic religions is the Old Testament, which is pretty much all of the Jewish book, then Christianity and Islam added their own stories based on who they believed was the Messiah.
I think it's very neat how this video can make 3 different but similar religions grow closer :D
I love how you can visibly see the slow greying of the characters hair as time passes
As a Christian I love that you displayed the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil as an acid trip
A fun fact about Jacob’s name (from a guy who’s native language is Hebrew). In Hebrew his name “Yaakov” (יעקוב) and that sounds like the Hebrew word for heel (akev - עקב). In the story, Jacob held Esau’s heel while they got born.
If he'd try explaining every pun in the Bible...
Well, The sons of convenient were name, hot and pretty (or "will open")...
Well that and a “heel grabber” is another term for a trickster, which Jacob absolutely is.
Which only stands to illustrate what a dung load the entire book is!
As an unwashed heathen I appreciate the abridged format for what was otherwise a very difficult book to just sit down and read.
Excellent animation and voices as always.
My favorite part is when Abram looks at the stars in the night sky and is like "Whoa! There's gotta be at least...tweleve...".
Gotta love your biblically accurate Cherubim.
Evangelical/baptist Christian here! I’ve loved your work for the other mythologies, and I’m excited for your take on biblical stories ^^ Keep up the good work
7:35 the Isaac joke is in hebrew but basically in hebrew Isaac's name is יצחק(pronounced itshak) and in hebrew this word means "will laugh" (in hebrew adjectives are diffrent than in english) and it's supposed to be funny because Abraham and Sara laughed when god said they will have a child even though they are very old.
also "he laughs" in hebrew is צוחק pronounced tsohek.
As a jewish person and native Hebrew speaker who took bible analysis classes on the book of Genesis, I think you portrayed it very well and also got some of the intricacies of the book that give it a lot more dimension and symbolism. Awesome video!
As a catholic, this is very accurate
I am Catholic, he seems to be missing some important details, (for example Ishmal was heavily implied to being rough with Issac which is why they were sent away, God clearly told that the heirs were to come from Sarah, but she didn’t believe him and made Adam do it with Hagar etc) but anyone who comes here for details will surely be disappointed.

I gotta study Genesis for my Theology subject and I am so happy I remembered this video as a little reintroduction
@@nataltje Is it meant for Christians or it doesn't matter?
@@Dexuz Everyone can watch it
@@DexuzAnyone can watch it, but obviously it’ll mean more to you if you’re a Christian. But it actually explains what the passages mean and demonstrates why you don’t have to believe the Genesis passages as strictly literal to what happened.
Will you do Japanese or Aztec myths one day?
one year
I genuinely don't think it's possible to depict Aztec myths without either getting instantly demonetized or covering the entire screen with a censor bar. Maya myths, maybe! The ball game in hell would look pretty cool in Jake's style.

Mmmmm. Shouldn’t have said that.
History? Dont you mean like religion class or something?

It's always fun to see other mythologies covered!
Even though I don’t believe in the divinity of the Torah anymore, I still think the Joseph story is a ripping good yarn, especially in Hebrew. Intrigue, drama, character development, it’s actually fairly relatable.
It always gets me when Joseph keeps having to leave the room to cry while tricking his brothers.
@ Right? He’s obviously deeply conflicted. My favorite is Yehudah’s/Judah’s plea where he just lays it all on the line. Kind of an ancient Hail Mary, or Shma Yisrael, if you prefer.
When I saw you did this, I immediately cheered knowing how funny and accurate you are/try to be. I wasn’t disappointed in the slightest. As a Christian who has been told this story over 10 times in my life, it was pretty spot on and entertaining. I gasped and laughed and loved it. Hope you do more.
Even tho I’m sure it’s time consuming and hard/tedious, I really hope you continue the bible as a series. This is definitely one of your best videos!

The worst sin recorded in history
I love your take on explaining the Book of Genesis. Please continue the other books.
10:17 in the original text, Esau is actually a simpleton who speaks like a caveman, but the people who rewrote the Bible in English and other languages thought that it was too boorish, so they made him speak all sophisticated
I also saw that short
So he’s like “GWAR GA BUNGA KOK!”
“Why would you want feet Esau?”
“GONG GAK LOO ME KOH”
“Ohhh my bad food! Just surrender your birth right”
“GEAH BAK FOU ME LOJK”
“Ok I’ll take it as a yes”
I guess god made a mistake
As a Christian, you nailed the Book of Genesis (for the most part). It would be super cool if you did one of the Books of the Gospel(Matthew-John) or even The Book of Revelation which would be extremely trippy lol. Nice work brother!
I would love to see the Kings and Prophets of the old Testament.
@@Thespeedrapseeing Solomon completely lose his rules and religion for the world would genuinely be funny to see
Minus the jordans and the cellphones i feel like it’s absolutely a perfect retelling. 😂
I love that Cain, instead of throwing a rock or something, pulls out a GLOCK
"It's always funny" saud jake.
But also, he could have also used something more sophisticated than a boulder, humans had that kind of tech already at the time
3:43 I don’t know why but Cain pulling out a modern handgun to kill Abel rather than something more accurate like a club or something, made me laugh WAY harder than I probably should have.
Even tought cain was the first murderer but seeing that makes me laugh 😅
I just want to let you know I really adore all of your videos. There’s so well thought out and I love the animation. I’ve been watching you since the beginning of your channel you’re doing awesome. You should be very, very proud.

I think that's called apostasy-
Also, that would be a splendid idea!
@@glasscardproductions4736 Arguing about apostasy in the XXI century is dumb though. And I say that as a Roman Catholic.
@@FernandoSegovia701
Oh, sorry, I thought that was the correct term-
@@glasscardproductions4736 It would actually heresy, though both concepts are similar.
However, that wasn't my point. My point is that it doesn't matter what a person believes individually since I believe that we, as a society, should have already learned the lesson that it's something private and that judging others by calling them things like "heretic" or "apostate" is both outdated and really harmful.

That scream was so real and unexpected, I couldn't stop laughing for 5 minutes straight 🤣🤣🤣
Great video, I loved the attention to detail and the funny gags that came along with it.
I don't think there is any source confirming the snake in the garden of eden was controlled by satan
The first source of that i know of that says that is the novel known as "Paradise Lost" and paralels have been made between them im sure
