I totally agree! I have Crohn’s and some doctors used to suggest using FODMAP… not that I ever followed it, thank goodness. Now they’re advising against it…go figure! Hey, they used to also suggest a low fibre diet… now they recommend fibre. I go by personal experience… some fibre actually helps my symptoms and eating keto has really helped me.

Thomas, I love your channel! I’m a chef for 35 yrs. And a farmer for 10 years. Thomas something to consider: The worst gift England ever gave the United States after world war two were Holstein cows. The black and white dairy cows. And a cow you have 158 chain of amino acids. The problem is they do not possess a protein all non-amino acid chain called A2. The African buffalo or better known as water buffalo, American buffalo or bison and best of all a jersey cows possess this protein called A2. I guarantee you if you give a kid who is lactose intolerant a glass of milk from a jersey cow, he would be fine.

Potatoes are high in solanins, they are "nightshades" and they are known for contributing to joint pains and other arthritic symptoms. Other "low fodmap" foods have lectins, phytates, and oxalates, so there's more to look out for than the fodmaps.
Totally agree on breaking a fast with high-electrolyte bone broth before eating then lean meat, then resume normal eating at least an hour or two later. I like to end my meals with sauerkraut or kimchi. PS: An avocado a day for potassium.
4 weeks elimination with reintroduction it's a simple process. If you don't strictly adhere and reintroduce you won't get the full benefits of the Monash protocol which is very specific.
I think the 'dairy is good' counter point is interesting because many of us grew on milk products, and dairy has most nutrients missing from meat. I haven't yet tried reintroducing dairy now that my GI seems to be healing (thanks to sulfur sups) maybe the lactase gets better too.

No, milk doesn't provide you with assimilable Ca. It does have calcium, but that doesn't mean that your body can absorb it.
Thomas has plenty of videos on intermittent fasting. You shouldn't get acid reflux if you do intermittent fasting and eat a low carb diet followed by fodmap foods. If you are suffering from acid reflux, 15ml Apple cider vinegar aka ACV diluted in roughly 300ml of water should help you.

I'm so confused about what to eat. Until all vitals can be measured in real time including inflammation markers I think everyone will be guessing about what the superior diet is. I just watched a video yesterday about how ones guy never gets sick because he eats garlic daily. Garlic is a high FODMAP food like mentioned in this video. Also onions are high FODMAP. First off I have been saying I’m allergic to milk my entire life. I wouldn’t say it’s an allergy it’s an intolerance. I get mouth sores very bad canker sores to be exact I’ve had them so bad that they were down my throat and I’ve had to have them burned off. That was when I was more in my teenage years and now that I am over 60 I still get them but not that bad because I do avoid things chocolate for instance really really reeks havoc in my mouth. And I have a lot of stomach acid I have so much acid that after my gallbladder surgery I was still having a lot of pain and had an upper G.I.. They kept questioning me about drinking coffee or rinsing my mouth out when I brushed my teeth that I swallow and I kept saying no no and they said you have a lot of acid in your stomach. Well I already knew this it’s hereditary and I told them tell me something I don’t know. I have great digestion I have no issues. Other than the fact that nothing stays in my colon for very long I eliminate a lot. I always have. I’ve heard of FODMAPS. very interesting

I wish people would stop featuring Stan Effording until he addresses/changes the glaring inconsistencies within the vertical diet book and between the vertical diet book and the vertical diet cookbook. For example, In the "we prep / you prep" section, the vertical diet book gives different caloric values for the same food in several places. It looks a lot like he's modifying the information so the foods will fit the calorie targets he's trying to reach- instead of modifying the recipe or the amount of each food. And I don't want to mention all of the inconsistencies in the information between the vertical diet book and the vertical diet cookbook. To be sure, there is valuable information in the vertical diet book, but until those mistakes are corrected, it's unworthy of the praise and recognition that it has been receiving lately- and that makes me doubt anything that the author has to say.
@@AggBaddie the issue is that I paid $100 for an ebook and it can't tell me reliably how many calories are in rice. The calorie totals of the meals do not include the butter used to cook the meal. There are many small issues like that- that in themselves aren't a problem, but they add up. And for a $100 EBOOK, it should give the most accurate information possible. And it's certainly shouldn't contradict itself.

Well, not sure of your source of and their process of producing the goat cheese in question, but if storebought it would not give the probiotic bennefits of yogurt...though I recomend you getting milk kefir grains to produce your own daily milk kefir instead of yogurt. Since you would then be providing your own fresh milk to produce kefir, you could then use goat milk instead of cows milk for an added level of easier digestion. I have made my own "farmer" cheese with the goat milk kefir

Never heard about this. I do min. 12 hrs but building up to 16 to 20 hrs on some days. I have burps that started when i had trouble with my now removed gallbladder. Still have burps. Not as much now.
@@markekar6021 the sugar is from lactose and the bacteria in kefir grains digest that..so you won’t find true kefir with out it unlesss it’s really fermented..but you want make your own that store bought stuff is usually less probiotic and more pasteurized for food regulation purposes..it’s fairly easy to make if you have the time in day 😊

I do not like this guy or this diet. It promotes eating high glycemic, starchy foods. Quitting sugar, starch, grains and most fruit eliminated all my issues. I use to have gas issues like crazy the main culprits are sugar, starch, grain and most fruit. Quit the bread and all forms of sugar Stan and your gut issues will be gone. I can even eat Brussel sprouts and broccoli now without issues. I tried going pure carnivore and couldnt get my fasting and basal glucose below 100 until i brought back low glycemic vegetables snd fruit. Now my fasting blood glucose is 70s-80s snd my basal largely stays in the 80s. I seldom see my blood glucose go above 110 even after eating. Only time it goes above 110 consistently is moderate circuit training. All these diet gurus are happy to had out advice but how many are talking about what their blood panel looks like. You can look fantastic on the outside be a train wreck on the inside.

Stupid Title. The problem is lack of diversity in the Microbiom, FODMAP and retrograde starches although can cause bloating at first (in a western diet), actually help to encourage healthy gut bacteria. I encourage people to follow a High Fodmap diet, as a way to increase serotonin.
I am not inclined to take nutritional advice from bodybuilders. Lean and muscular is healthy but this guy is a freak and looks very unhealthy to me. People chasing ballooned muscles don’t have the same incentives as normal people.

@@markekar6021 the sugar is from lactose and the bacteria in kefir grains digest that..so you won’t find true kefir with out it unlesss it’s really fermented..but you want make your own that store bought stuff is usually less probiotic and more pasteurized for food regulation purposes..it’s fairly easy to make if you have the time in day 😊

I do not like this guy or this diet. It promotes eating high glycemic, starchy foods. Quitting sugar, starch, grains and most fruit eliminated all my issues. I use to have gas issues like crazy the main culprits are sugar, starch, grain and most fruit. Quit the bread and all forms of sugar Stan and your gut issues will be gone. I can even eat Brussel sprouts and broccoli now without issues. I tried going pure carnivore and couldnt get my fasting and basal glucose below 100 until i brought back low glycemic vegetables snd fruit. Now my fasting blood glucose is 70s-80s snd my basal largely stays in the 80s. I seldom see my blood glucose go above 110 even after eating. Only time it goes above 110 consistently is moderate circuit training. All these diet gurus are happy to had out advice but how many are talking about what their blood panel looks like. You can look fantastic on the outside be a train wreck on the inside.
Stan's focus is more towards maximising bodybuilding and powerlifting performance and not optimal health.

Being 56 and active in competitive shooting, mountain biking, hiking, and trail running, I can't imagine being a giant Shrek looking dude who can't breathe. I wouldn't be able to do any of those things at the level I do. I mean, what the hell do you do for fun? Sit around and try to keep breathing? Haha. No thanks, brother. I'd rather model myself after someone like Mark Sisson. This guy probably won't even be alive at the age Sisson is now, much less be running around playing Ultimate Frisbee or riding "Fat Tire" bikes in the sand for a workout. Hell, this guy couldn't do those things now.

Stupid Title. The problem is lack of diversity in the Microbiom, FODMAP and retrograde starches although can cause bloating at first (in a western diet), actually help to encourage healthy gut bacteria. I encourage people to follow a High Fodmap diet, as a way to increase serotonin.
I think fodmap is a fad. Nobody understands anything about the microbiome.
I am not inclined to take nutritional advice from bodybuilders. Lean and muscular is healthy but this guy is a freak and looks very unhealthy to me. People chasing ballooned muscles don’t have the same incentives as normal people.
