  • Apply Highly Realistic Paints and Texture to Portraits in Photoshop! Learn how to manually mold the texture according to the shape of the portrait and use advanced blend modes and blend-if to blend in the colors in the most natural fashion. In this tutorial, we will also learn how to dodge and burn to add more dimension and make your creative portrait really pop.
We will start off by preparing the texture for the application. Then we will use Liquify to manually mold the texture around the skin. During this time, we will learn several techniques to set the color or the texture to match with the bumps of the portrait.
Then, using multiple different blend modes, we will not only apply it realistically but also additionally dodge and burn to add depth and dimension. At the end, we will also learn how to sharpen the texture and a cool little trick to make the iris of the eye pop!
Hope this tutorial helps. Thank you for watching!

Bur everytime i try to import a jpeg or a png as a overlay it keeps saying its a different resolution and stuff like that! And i can not turn it in to a smart filter of make the overlay bigger/smaller

I've been using photoshop self-taught since photoshop 2.0 .... but I have always had issues with the pen tool. I have to say, you are an INCREDIBLE teacher! I wish I had the patience to teach, but you are so thorough and I like how you got results without talking down to or demeaning anyone. Also, I appreciate a teacher who isn't afraid to say it when they make a mistake. RUclips had this on autoplay while I was in the kitchen making supper, and I couldn't stop watching when I came back. Big thumbs up.

For bringing in the other picture, you can also open it, and then right click the layer -> duplicate and choose the other file, then press OK. Also works if you have several layers to move over at once. I find that easier than the copy paste job

Great tutorial! Though... I always find the pen tool takes much more time than the magnetic lasso. One major reason that I didn't spend much time to learn the pen tool. Well, perhaps the pen tool does more than the magnetic lasso tool. But for a quick selection I find the magnetic lasso tool to be quicker and save me time.
