- It's been an even wetter and cooler Vancouver Autumn than usual this year, but finally, we have a nice sunny Sunday to get a bit of stick time! It's refreshing to fly in the sun after a few months of cold, overcast flying.

When flying a motor glider years ago, there was an airplane doing acrobatics straight up in the blue sky. I was flying towards it back and forth as a "target" just for something to do. At one point my friend mimicked a machine gun sound while I was "diving" at the actual airplane.
Instantly this airplane started spewing smoke! We both just stood their with our jaws dropped wide open then started laughing at the magical powers of my glider. I have no idea what the actual chances are of that happening but it made for a better joke.
Of course the real plane was fine - it was out testing smoke trails for the day :)

I strongly prefer left turns as well. No matter how much I practice right turns, I have to think my way through them, rather than feel my way.
Exactly... same here. If I focus on right turns for a few sessions it gets better, but I lose it again pretty quickly if I don't get to fly for a while. I'll let the wife know I need to go fly more.

Nice flying Thomas, I need to get my BAMF2 out more often, been flying my older beater more lately just to keep the BAMF safe when the conditions are less than ideal which is about all we've had for weather for a while here.
Don't worry, all my worst landings and flying with my prop planes also seem to be the ones I video. Even my DLG vids are way worse than the flights without the camera 😊
I'll need to get some videos of my harder launches during the winter break!

High-performance composite models do come with a price tag. If you're looking for a more economical but very competitive class of soaring, do consider F3L/F3-RES or its electric variant of F5L/F5-RES. The Medina is one option in this class, and the kits are $250.
I'm really liking your videos and also the direction armsoar is taking with the RXR kit options so please keep em both coming!! Anyway, is there a reason you don't use a vario on your birds? Competition rules or something else? I know it helps me a lot on identifying sink especially
Thank you for the kind words! We use a vario to check our launch height in practice, but I don't think many people use the vario for flying in practice as it's relatively easy to feel the air with a DLG due to their sensitivity and performance. In competition, no varios are allowed.
I figured that had to be the case but I've never been to a competition myself. I would love to check it out if they have any coming up in the New England (CT) area anytime soon.
