My favorite movie when i turn 14 my brother got me the sound track for valentines day now i at 67 i still have it in my heart today 2018 julie andrews my favorite nanny too
What a wonderful way to close the curtain on an enjoyable evening of Mary Poppins and Mr. Banks entertainment. Thank you. Also, today is Walt's birthday. Happy Birthday, Walt.
Agreed! I saw Mary Poppins Returns and unfortunately, I didn’t care for it. Emily Blunt was good but she’s no Julie Andrews (not that she was trying to be, in respect to her). It just wasn’t the same to me.
One of my three all-time favorite movies,(the others The Sound of Music, and. The Wizard of Oz). I grew up singing and play acting parts of the movie. Don't remember the year, but I got an LP soundtrack of the movie, a 45 of 2 songs(memory fails me!) and a Mary Poppins doll w/wardrobe(doll and clothes are gone now, I only have a picture of me holding it at Christmas). I love all the characters, Jane and Michael were kids like me, only a little older. I think I even memorized their ad for " perfect nanny". I have the VHS of the movie, and call me crazy , but I sometimes use it to help me get to sleep( pop it in, and set my timer on my tv to shut it off after an hour or so). It's nearly 12:30 am and time for "Mary Poppins" sing me to sleep with ' stay awake' :-)
Lynn Kanerva first movie we saw when we were engaged in 65. I bought the album and remember playing it when our daughter was small. Then it was re released I think in 73 and was the first movie I took her to see. Love that excerpts are on YT. I have the DVD and still watch it a few times a year, and also downloaded the songs to my now ancient IPOD.
1:_01 JANE DARWELL , also that was the name of this actress. I just remember her face from my MARY POPPINS youthbook I still have. Did not have known she was THAT well known.

Yeah...it's sad; the doctor who performed her operation messed up somewhere ...and Julie can't sing at all now...but it really is a miracle she's still with us :-)
I love the "biography" of the variety of stars, shows from all the eras and how based on the subject matter, other related subjects will be offered. Extremely, entertaining.
Ed Wynn also played the mad hatter in Disney's Alice in Wonderland. There is a lot of important info missing and a lot of filler info instead. Still very interesting though.
Dick Van Dyke recently ran a bank with his geriatric progeny. An esteemed employee brought his kid to work. Things went poorly. The employee tried to bring levity to the situation by talking about his wood. Dick Van Dyke just laughed and laughed. We'll miss him.
We had an Arthur Treacher's Fish and Chips in the city where I grew up. Don't remember seeing too many cars there but they were in business for a long time.
So sad to list the ailments that killed some of these legends. Makes you think. We all gonna die. Better start living TODAY and no mishtake Murry Poppins
Julie was Eliza on Broadway and was replaced by Audrey Hepburn when the movie came out. Although she could sing her voice was dubbed by another and it showed. Julie did "Mary Poppins", did her own singing and got the Oscar!!!!😎😀🙂🙂
Cassandra Morrison, Julie Andrews sold her home in California. She lived about 2 miles from me in Brentwood. She may have an LA apartment. But now she spends her time mostly on the East Coast, near her daughter Emma. I believe she lives in Sag Harbor.

Don't wish to speak ill of the dead and I'm a huge fan of Matthew but I'd always been led to believe he had a drug problem which played a factor in his untimely death. Anyway, a wonderful young actor who passed too soon.
Julie Andrews did My Fair Lady on stage and was overlooked for the part in the movie. it went to Audrey Hepburn. So she did Mary Poppins, she beat Audrey for the best actress Oscar
I know that Dick Van Dyke has filmed a cameo appearance in the new MARY POPPINS RETURNS movie, due out Christmas 2018, but I wonder if any others from the original will be appearing as well.

Violet Andonopoulou if this was 2 years ago, Julie has been back in the U.S. then. From her very well written memoir HOME , she did move with her husband Blake to their beautiful home in Switzerland to get away from the hustle & bustle of Hollywood. They each had children from their prior marriage & adopted 2 together, they wanted to work on their family unit together. Same here, the unfounded statements they made about Julie I find bothersome. She & her husband Blake decided to live in their beautiful home in Switzerland to get their family together since they each had children from their previous marriage & adopted 2 together! Read her memoir HOME , & I fell in love with Julie even more! Read excerpts of other celebs' memoir like Robert Wagner, Carol Burnette & Christopher Plummer to name a few, interviews with other stars they all speak highly of Julie.
Enjoy the original film. While cute, the new Marry Poppins was a complete disappointment. I just saw it. There is not one song that is catchy enough to be remembered five minutes after it’s sung. However, it is worth going to just to see the magnificent Dick Van Dyke dance like a teenager at the end of the film, as well as the outstanding actress, Angela Lansbury performing a sweet song, also at the end.
Whilst not realising it, you’ve now ruined the ending for those that haven’t seen it...(and to think it didn’t come up to your standards) I actually thought it was pretty good considering the original was such a masterpiece. One of the grandest most uplifting movies ever with such great talent.
Sad to read so many of the cast have passed on.

We're still alive
Love Mary popping. That's a great movie for all times. I Love Mary popping movie. It's a classic movie that everyone should see.
Some of us grew up knowing Arthur Treacher on the Merv Griffin Show in the mid to late 60's. He was on that show for years.
Only Julie Andrews recording should have been singing through this!!!
Elizabeth Wood I agree!
In an interview with...someone I can't remember right now, she revealed that she is no longer able to sing.
Yeah...it's sad; the doctor who performed her operation messed up somewhere ...and Julie can't sing at all now...but it really is a miracle she's still with us :-)
She can still sing. Don't know in what range, but she still can. Watch The Princess Diaries 2.
The follow up movie: saving Mr. Banks, is one of my favorite movies.
Stay alive a long time, Karen Dotrice. Me and Karen were born in the same year, except she is two months younger than me.

George Banks played the villan in the love bug Peter Thorndyke.

Disney's Alice in Wonderland. There is a lot of important info missing and a lot of filler info instead. Still very interesting though.
Elsa Lanchester was the Bride in the Bride of Frankenstien. as well as the Driver to Florida in I Love Lucy that Lucy and Ethel shared a ride with.

Not to mention the nurse to Charles Laughton's character in Agatha Christie's WITNESS FOR THE PROSECUTION
She was also in "Black Beard's Ghost", another Disney movie.

Oh! If ONLY I COULD have seen Julie Andrews play Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady!!! THAT would have made THAT movie FABULOUSER than it even WAS!!!
Julie Andrews went to Australia and directed a revival of My Fair Lady with the Sydney Opera Company.
Oh, how awesomely fabulous!!! Thank you so much for sharing that with me!!!
Julie was Eliza on Broadway and was replaced by Audrey Hepburn when the movie came out. Although she could sing her voice was dubbed by another and it showed. Julie did "Mary Poppins", did her own singing and got the Oscar!!!!😎😀🙂🙂
Oh, my! I'd never noticed (blush!) that Audrey Hepburn's singing had some dubbing!

Cassandra Morrison, Julie Andrews sold her home in California. She lived about 2 miles from me in Brentwood. She may have an LA apartment. But now she spends her time mostly on the East Coast, near her daughter Emma. I believe she lives in Sag Harbor.
Very interesting! Thanks!
I don't think that Matthew deserved die too soon
Ed Wynn also played in babes in toyland
Ed Wynn won an Oscar for best supporting actor in The Diary of Anne Frank.
Julie Andrews has 5 kids. 1 biological, 2 step and 2 adopted

Julie has three children? I know she has a daughter named Emma Walton.
