Pushing the hobby forward and expanding into areas that 12 months ago seemed impossible, u pal are an inspiration 👌
You just gained a sub. Your story for how you got to the top of racing is an inspiration to alot of us. #FPVLIFE
I'll be building one this month.
Thanks for the info and the links sir
Paul,Your indepth knowledge and ability to pass this information onto the rest of us is so awesome. Even an old prick like myself that loves your videos and blogs learns something every time I watch. You inspire me to always keep learning and to strive to show the world in a different eye. Keep up the great work. I am just waiting for some parts to complete my 6" long range quad....can't wait. Cheers
Thanks for the comment. Appreciate you taking the time. It's a blast to be able to share everything.
The dynamics in this group are hilarious to watch.
You guys are awesome!
Awesome video. I think that shooting with the Hero 7 using the camera stabilization is an awesome combination!
Thank you for introducing my video!
I wish I was as awesome as you. The squirt looks nice. Keep the hobby alive. You are pushing the boundaries, that's what the hobby needs. I lost my mojo, and this brings it back.
Just happy to be here man!
Going fast frantically flipping around are skills to be sure. Taking your high drone flying aptitude (rock solid smooth) and using it artfully, is such a great application pushing a cinematic "tool". Very very inspiring and will keep me learning FPV with a purpose.
Thanx Giz out
I love where this is ALL heading .
I love WHOOPS and everything associated with them...
What a great build.
😎👍
Wow the stabilization makes a huge difference, thx for including the unstabalised footage!!!
Indeed. That's a big part of the power for sure!
Great vid Nurk. Love the direction of the hobby. To have tools like these to implement into industry is amazing
Im getting this one to a friend thanks to all the info of this quad. And so excited about how this beast perform.
Get after it!
Man you are on to something awesome. I hope a lot more people support this. And hope GoPro brings something small like session. As I said like last time this art my friend. Good luck my friend.
Big thanks for sharing the info Nurk and the work you've put into this, i've been researching a small 2-3" cine set up for weeks now, this ticks all the boxes. Just recently move from the wide open spaces of Scotland to a congested European city where i can't easily just whip out the 5" quad. this could be the answer I need, big thumbs up!
holy smokes i'm replayed that intro 5 times, that was soo good!
Thanks for the info. We just built one last week and started flying it this week. Looking forward to the unique content we can create with this drone.
I saw your photo post before I saw the video if this craft.
I'm sure you read my comment, and in hindsight I probably had the typical reaction. With in 30 seconds if watching I totally got it.
I was amazed. I'm sure you know how to "fly around" the blowouts and know what causes them.
So it's a non issue really. Great video
You truly are a talented soul , creative too. Can't wait to see your creation on the screen. So cool !
thank you so much!
Such a honnest and on the ground person .
Thanks for the video! Been working in the sub 250g category but squirt is in my armada of tools. Most amazing machine
So it looks like the Onanoco video was done with a Blade Torrent & Runcam Split making it half the weight and size of thee Shendrones Squirt it says so on the Onanoco Facebook description. Also let's give credit to the creator of "Reel Steady" Robert McIntosh who won the award at the NY Drone Film Festival & the GoPro award for this and he did of with a small ",Butterfly" Style Frame. That was in 2017 I'm surprised this didn't blow up sooner.
thanks .. i believe its important to credit along the way ,, nothing advances without having a problem to solve .
Im curious about the flightime of this quad
With 850mAh around 5min
So cool man. This is a interesting new platform. I can’t wait to see where the community takes it!
this is awesome af
Once you go duct it's hard to go back. I'm in love... amazing.. may I simply ask in your testing would a HIGHER kv motor be better with for example possibly a 4 blade prop on the system? As I have the 2204 2800 kv cobras and wonder would I be better with 2205 2100 kv power house motors already on the 4 inch. Or do you think the lighter faster spinning 2800s would be better suited for 4 inch flight of course seeking the perfect shots.. ty soo much! And ty @nurk fpv u rock fam..
N I know I'm not the only one hopeful for either props meant to fit ducts perfectly possibly even moving threw (slit)? (protected of course) but somehow allowing the entire duct to be used maximize efficiency literally filling the tunnel with props.? without friction some how lol 🤔.. I know this is easier said than done, or simply larger ducts that can accommodate example 4 inch bn prop and duct.. on arm? Just spit balling ps. those new stan fpv ducts work very well I personally would LOVE to see a collaborative effort as both of your teams are rediscovering the true power of the duct! Can't wait for someone to try an x8 4inch in this style.. 😇 I would need some help but I got the ⚙ gear... could it possibly run lion 🤯👍 ••wow..
Forgive me that idea is either the best or worst ever.. lol 😆 👊❤❤❤❤ mad RESPEKT!
So every shot where you went through something and did a yaw turn. That could have been the transition point to turn around and fly backwards away from the subject. 2nd FPV cam on a switch. Do Pitch and Roll reversing on the Transmitter on the same switch that controlls the FPV switch. That means you are flying a new "forwards" off the 2nd cam but to the gopro's perspective you are flying backwards with all the control of flying forwards. RMRC is carrying a new 2 camera switch that is TINY and high voltage compared to the old 3 camera switches.
in my opinion one of the most useful aspect of the quadcopters is here. Combining HD with the power of the tinywhoop.
totally agreed
@@NURKFPV almost everytime i saw a really jaw dropping drone video it came from a micro quad. Being able to come in proximity of someone or even a crowd with no danger is sooo important today, and will surely be even more important in the future. I'm certain that more than half of the shots in future Hollywood will be made with exactly the kind of drone that you are describing in this video.
Hi Nurk, was just talking to Andy about this. I'm building one. I'm going to experiment with baro and GPS on it as well. While I'll likely run rate most of the time, I want to experiment with angle mode on a switch to also mimic a phantom with altitude hold and such. I might try 5s on it too. I have some 1507/2800kv motors that might do the trick.
My only worry would be about adding more weight to the whole situation.
@@NURKFPV I agree. I'm going to run racewire for the motors, so if it doesn't work, I'll put high-kv back on there. I'm likely going to start on 4s anyway. I have a set of those new EMAX 1606/3300kv that I was going to use for something else and changed my mind. If I love it, I'll just stick with that.
I ordered it yesterday from Andy. But just the carbon. He's backlogged on prints. I'm busy here trying to source the prints.
I am just abt to built two of these and I just can't really decide what props to use..
1) This kind of innovation is really exciting.
2) Ducts can be more efficient...check out studies on the Bernoulli Effect, specifically about propeller/thrust. Fascinating stuff.
I'm 60 years old, and besides The Lord, Drone's to me are the most exciting hobby ever. Never owned one, but I am learning and saving. Especially love the YT channel thingy, I used to identify anomalies in video under TheyMorph. Removed my content for editing. Drones is ehere my head be, will watch your vids. TY for doing this.
You got my creative juices flowing man!
Getting ready to squirt?
@@NURKFPVHAHA dead
Great concise and valuable infos nurk. thanks for the tips! going for a build now..
This was great! Thanks for sharing with the community and not keeping it top secret
What happens when there is a gentle breeze is blowing all day? Do you just have to wait for another day to film?
very cool! It's very interesting to me that, although RC drone tech is/has advanced exponentially, it's the action cam/Gopro/video technology that makes the CineWhoop a reality. Though I suppose it's really hard to say which is actually the more important component. A bit of chicken and egg thing.
I just popped a session5 on my custom 2" (video on my channel)... Not bad but think I'll extend it out to a 2.5" for a little better stabalization
The future of products like this, will be cameras like the split, but that's very good approach anyway.
Yes get it light and get the camera out front, oh and get the camera quality up
camera quality has to go waaaaaaay up.
For cinematic shots the best gopro settings are still not even on par for big screen video. Splits are not even close to getting to the required quality. Not to mention the lack of quality glass.
@@kyleantonowich4335 We know :(
Or an SLR style lens setup and just piggyback an analog micro camera sensor. The HD camera isn't going to get lighter just because of the optics, the only way to really improve the net weight proposition is to integrate the analog FPV camera (and maybe VTX/antenna) into the HD camera and make that lighter overall.
I'm very interested in what you're going for the fpv community. I think you're the first to do this, a sub 5" frame with ducts pulling video gear that heavy shooting high Def....who would have thought?
I love it. This unit could be the to a lot of smaller jobs I’ve previously said couldn’t done, done well anyway. Thanks for sharing this. Now I’m waiting for when you and Andy build a tiny ducted rig rocking a Red haha!
Love your content.
get in there and get it done!
As silly as my comment was, it made me think and realize just how far GoPro has come over the last half a decade.
And try to image what they will create in the next half a decade. When I started working with drones or multirotors as I prefer. A stripped red weighed about 16lb with light glass.
Now that’s what a red ghost weighs kitted out. Redlly amazes me to think what GoPro has up its sleeves for the next couple of years.
I wish i was rich enough to be able to buy a Gopro 7 black, especially for putting it on a quad LOL
Amazing little machine though! You are flying it like a real champ!
Have a great week and keep on flying :)
Love it. This is a beautiful drone that is very purposeful built. Love the idea, Ill be doing something with one of these in the future for sure.
I loooove having around some of these just purpose-built rigs sitting around. Makes for some unique opportunities.
@@NURKFPV Absolutely. I mean you can nail a piece of base board with a sledge hammer if you are very careful but why not use a bradnail gun and keep it simple. Same idea.
Can you buy one of these or do you have to build it yourself?
That's so interesting that the ducts actually increase thrust.
First drone footage is a sort of David Fincher FX generated sequence.
Brilliant.
aw yis. That's what we're going for for sure
Hi, .
Any classes for understand to use drones for beginners ?
Is this quad powerful enough to injure you if you stick a finger into the props? How likely is it to get caught in hair?
You should try and reduce the duct diameter towards the bottom, that should increase the thrust.
I was just thinking that.
As a total "noob" could someone learn to fly quads just using the squirt or similar cinewhoop, or should I say just havng read your blog, What should a noob learn on before progressing to the squirt please?
What a great tool for getting those impossible shots! The ductwork on the Squirt is a rather crude 3D print. Wouldn't smooth, injection molded ducts be more efficient and offer more predictable flight? If someone with your flying skills is challenged to manage this in the air, it certainly wouldn't be the machine for me and a lot of other less talented pilots.... Thanks for the review and for detailing your efforts to get the Squirt flying.
Honestly as much as the FPV angle is what makes these shots unique, I don't think you'll see widespread usage until you correct for horizon, it's a production standard for a very good reason.
i understand that issue, and it's something that I'm trying to figure out... can there either be a way to get it stable or sell it as purposefully unstable.. etc.
Just curious to run time with the 850mAh ?
Great job!
Thanks for explaing the machine that was used to film the awesome footage i've watched on your channel. Loved your Iceland trip. :)
Awesome! Thank you so much for leaving this comment!
This is gonna be huge Paul
I hope so!
Lots of potential here, Film and advertising, will be champing at the bit for your services. Nice one!!! :)
Awesome! Thanks for the "not for beginners" comment!! I was thinking of which kind of fpv drone i want to build and this was up there cuz of the ducts for safety but you helped me lol so cool i wont be making a cine whoop or my 1st or 2nd drone! Im still on drl sim lol thanks
does using a lighter battery make the drone more stable? I'm using a 1300 mah 4s and I get jello
Didn't find this information on the website or here : what's the flight time with the 850 Lipo?
I think around 5min
In the vídeo looks like you are using gopro hero 7 hardmount. How do you make good stabilization with gopro hero 7 on hardmount ?
If this isn’t a good beginner FPV, what would you suggest is?
Que bateria recomiendas para este tipo de drone? buen video (Puedo utilizar Baterias de 1300mah?)
Enjoyed the video. Do you know about the iflight Megabee? If you have flown it, I would be interested in your opinion. I am not a builder, so it is a possible choice for me. Also, what are your recommended PIDS and rates for a 75-85mm cinewhoop and a larger cine drone like the squirt? Thank you.
Great video man! I run the same motors and they get pretty hot, do you experience that too?
Awesome coffe cup Nurk!
I know you said something about tweeking your PIDs in this video and how your I term is cranked high, Is that something that would help ground effect? my squirt flies very well (for what it is, haha) but if I get too close to the ground it gets some pretty aggressive shakes, I wouldn't even call them oscillations, but you can tell its from the air bouncing off the ground and hitting the outside of the ducts... could higher I terms help with that issue?
This is simply the next great thing...
I hope so!
So any thoughts on utilizing the DJI FPV in a cinewhoop build? It’s been awhile since this was made and the current progression of newer tech unveiling the FPV world
great video. I bought a Cinewhoop from iFlight thanks to your videos and appart having to modify the PWN and Motor Timing to Auto on my so called DJI IFLIGHT MEGABEE RTF, I have challenges on prop wash as an example. I don't know in fact if the behavior is normal for a cinewhoop due to its ducts or just a bad PID settings. Can you share your configuration of your ESC and also a dump of your Betaflight or Emu Flight Conf on PIDS ???? Cheers man !
Great vid ! What is the range if you do not have the crossfire? Is that a must on this?
What’s a beginner drone for cinewhoop with a GoPro
That intro flight tho... very nicely done!
I just ordered a SquirtV2 and your recommended parts!
Dude I have a BetaFPV Pavo30 and I'm meant to fly it inside a gym. Still practicing into the simulator, but how can you cut down the overall speed to have more control in tight spaces?
Actually, the ducts are also part of its "smoothness". The 'lips' of the ducts (which create the 'extra' thrust due to the Bernoulli effect) refuse to tilt because when they do, the Beroulli effect that was present on all the duct is only present on the lower part of it, which tilts it in the opposite direction. This results in a more 'stable' (and less responsive) behaviour.
You had set a goal to be part of big video like movie or something. How's it going? Surely this tool you showed (thanks!) to us today is part of that.
Not there yet and I don't see it on the horizon but we are still cranking
How do you for a good GoPro stabilisation ? This is the GoPro stabilisation of the Hero 7 or a stabilisation in post production?
Thanks you very much.
I love your Cinewhoop project, its so awesome!!!!!!!
I get washouts when diving...any thoughts. Using the hq cinewhoop made props.
Why not make the quad super light and adding a bigger battery to achieve the same weight with the added power/flight time. Even if it’s just an extra 30 seconds??
I'm looking into purchasing your build list. I'm worried about range though. I don't want to purchase the wrong items. How far would you think it would go?
Great video Nurk!
Dude, that's pretty awesome!
But one tip: try some SunnySky 1408 3600kv in it. But you're going to need at least 28A escs. It's another category.
The 3BH are in the same boat - I can burn down my 850mAh batteries in under two minutes easily, but it's genuinely on pace with my 5" setups. (on GF 3052's)
@@tehllama42 Awesome! Great to know! 😃
I've seen EngineerX tests of the SunnySkys, the 3BH I don't think so... Yet! 😃
Great video! Have you heard about the brand new DJI Osmo Pocket? It’s uncanny that it weighs exactly the same amount as the GoPro Hero7 Black at 116g
finally what I've been waiting for!!
A great setup for that "less throttle more roll/yaw/pitch " style flying - ! Would love to hear your thoughts about cam mounting point (front/center) and Lipo top vs. bottom... But I read your stuff first 😅. BTW My setup will get a cage/protector thingy in a different and less safe way - did you try other options for prop/world protection ? Thanks for sharing !
Hey on these cinewhoop drones do I need to mount a different can to it to record my vids or does these drones have that capability? Like with my mavic mini I can record videos on my phone I know cinewhoop drones don't run off cell phones so that's y I'm asking
Do you believe that there is a market for more products such as this in film production? (Movies you would see in theaters) I do very well done
i really want to believe so, but it's been a hard journey to get it in front of directors that's for sure.
NURK FPV I believe that is because in order to operate a system like that a lot of human capital is required (mis conception many skilled pilots out there )
I should fly one for the local news channel. This is a perfect tool for ringing more richness to the news being covered. Then maybe I could have a job flying a drone. Great video. It’s on the list of next builds for me.
Cory Gross good luck man, but the mainstream seems to be set in their ways :( drone oooo you mean that white thi... yeah not a phantom
Very informative video. Which props did you use and trimmed? Plus, have you tried the nutmeg?
Awesome man. Read your blog with interest and ordering the parts to give this a go. I think Hyper Smooth on Hero7 has made this type of video a lot more attainable.
i'm gonna be playing around with that i'll let you know what I learn.
I ordered down the list =] Which are the preferred props?
In your video and when you were showing the shot that you showed at the start of your video that looks like Red River gorge was that by chance Red River gorge
What are you thoughts on rocking some brat 1407 motors on the squirt?
Always loved this concept ever since I saw the same video. Really like your approach! Would love to see you work with Droneworks :P
dude working with droneworks would be hilariously fun. Especially if I could go chase around their new car..
do you think 1408 motors would work ok on a squirt? i'm trying to decide what parts to buy and hyperlite has some new 1408 motors that look nice. but i just worry that extra 1mm of height may not be optimal
Yes
Thanks for the quick reply! And for the informative video!
what about using the 4100kv motors? TOO much? I have some left over Brat motors....they need the protection of the ducts
Saw your earlier post of these shots and was wondering how you got in those gaps and that close in proximity... That is a brilliant solution. Any plans to mount a 360° camera on that platform?
;-) All about them gaps. And yes, I plan to do some 360 camera testing for sure
Awesome tool. I'm wondering if it's possible to mount the GoPro on a 180deg or 360deg yaw swivel, so you could fly through something like the legs of people, running in a soccer game or race, as the camera pans around from looking forward with the travel of the shot, to looking backward along the path you flew. That way the pilot can maneuver around at knee level, in tight spots, keeping their eyes forward, while the gopro has the ability to switch the shot from looking forward with the direction of travel, to looking backward, without cutting in reversed footage or physically piloting into something while trying to fly in reverse.
FPV would be used by pilot as usual with an extra switch on the remote set up to flip the (still in need of inventing) gopro mechanism around 180 like a yaw spin, without having to yaw and fly in reverse.
Playing the footage in reverse could be really awesome. At some point the camera will be moving into the shot while action is reversed.
There are some things tinkering around with that idea.
Can already be done and purchased commercially, basically a gimble on a servo. The problem is the size of the mechanism and weight which means going to a heavier and bigger 5" frame (much bigger actually). Could probably be done lighter with 3d printing and a small servo with only X axis (otherwise you're looking at a second receiver on board, a second pilot to control the Camera and more added weight.)
Best way to fly this acro or angle?
watched it all , I was asking myself when I saw your island video about what was the drone used . now I know ^^
This is the one!!
Can i use this cli dump but than on betaflight 3.5.7? I have exacly the same build only different props the hq ones
Totally get what your doing, love it thanks for sharing!
yea dude! stoked for this one... 1min in... pre-emptive comment ;)
hope you enjoyed the whole thing
