- This video teaches you everything that you need to know about building Cinewhoop FPV drones in 2020. The Shendrones "Squirt" is the perfect drone for getting those low, slow, proximity FPV shots that directors love to see, and this video will show you from start to finish how to build one with the DJI digital FPV system. I've just finished up a separate video that will teach you how to build larger, FPV Freestyle drones, which you can check out over here: • How to Build a Cinemat...
Here are all the details for this build: paulnurkkala.co...

I watched it all. I LEARNED a lot. Thank you! Those DJI kits are a bit expensive for my budget. Can anyone suggest an alternative? I've got about $400 bucks. I don't mind building it so long as everything is in the kit that will eliminate guesswork.
Anyone have any answers to this?
Babyhawk 2 seems good, but goggles will always set you back.
If you want the HD dji system you have to get a air unit or vista.
If you want to run analog this is the wrong video for you.
Main thing that's gonna rack up the bill quick is the goggles.
Analog
The only drone building channel that shares real information. N yet has very little thumbs up... mind blowing. 👍👍 well done with clearly explaining and showing everything. Wish you still did these.
Paul I think a lot of viewers need to see a Hybrid build. So many of us have a Taranis 9xd and Crossfire. I have my Squirt V2 setup with Crossfire and DJI Air and it is absolutely outstanding! Thanks to you, this is my #1 passion! With that said, I'm not worthy of a decent tut on the setup. You asked...., so for all of us trying to get it right. A much needed vid from the Master would help so many. I can up load pics of wiring to FC on my Squirt if anyone needs,
This is an Awesome Hobby! It Can be frustrating at times when thing don't go right. We need people that We trust to guide us thru. Paul YOU are the CineWoop Man! I trust no other! Guide us O master!
Excellent point! All of my cinewhoops are hybrid Xfire/DJI.
Finalllly! Someone does a clear and easy to follow build! The rotor riot one was wayy to hard to follow with all the shaky camera angles and frankly poor editing. This so much easier to watch! Nice one Nurk!
I'm glad I could be of assistance!
Don't be deterred if you've never soldered before! I learned on RUclips in about a week I went from never having done it to making a custom LED shelf. It won't be pretty at first. Don't go dirt cheap on your iron get something with temp controls and make sure to use flux! It's so rewarding taking on a project you've never done and turning around to make something yourself!
great watch! you explained everything perfectly for me not knowing much at all. Much more inspired to build my own soon!
okay I'm actually building this today and got it connected to betaflight but all of the motors wont spin. any idea? bought all of the same parts.
I'm buying one of these tommorow and was dreading the build but man.....you explained everything in detail I appreciate your time bro you really helped me out. 👊🏿
This was perfect timing! I literally just lost my first build (Donut Cinewhoop) in a lake yesterday and was debating on building a squirt or just buy a bnf like the Taycan for my next cinewhoop. But now it’s clear, the squirt for the win. Thanks NURK, you were also the one who originally got me into Cinewhoops!!
ey! Glad you're choosing to build! Consider using the affiliate links if possible! ;-)
What an amazing video. Wish I could give you multiple likes for this.
I didn't even want to think about building a drone but this video has changed my mind! Thanks again Nurk 👍🏽
LOL Nice switch at 17:06 as you were putting speed controller upside down again lmao. Thanks for the vid, you've taught me a lot
There are very good tips in the many spots of this video so I recommend you not to skip. Just go through it throughly if your are a beginner!
Love that your a corridor crew fan. Also love your work, great tutorial. I’ve got my first drone a few months ago, mini 2 but I’m really wanting to get into FPV and your vids are an awesome way to start.
Great video and thanks for taking the time. I loved when you went through the gate that you had hit after it fell epic. Keep up the good work.
The bridge check on the esc is so easy and awesome!! Never have seen or known this before, thank you! :)
Loving the channel and quality of content. Thanks.
I was working on my other kwad while watching this. Thanks for keeping me company lol
WOO! I love that! Glad to have you here!
Hey Paul, thank you for another great video. this is very helpful as I am building a Geyser frame. Keep up the great work
Really enjoyed that. Thank you. Simple enough when you know what you need.
I'm such a noob. I built this quad (it's my first build) and have been working through a laundry list of problems. Today I figured out, I put the ESC/PDB on upside down, so my motors are on the opposite side of the quad! At least I get to practice more soldering :)
That's super cool!! Won't be making one myself but love it
Good stuff Paul, keep it up. If I buy a shen squirt I will watch to the end. Keep up the great content!
I'm a beginner, practicing first on a small whoop + sim. Considering building this, seems pretty straight forward.
I would love to see an in depth how to tune a poorly flying squirt tutorial. I built mine on 6s . I’ve made progress but I’d love to hear your tips on those buttery cine pids haha
Did you find PIDs for a 6S squirt?
Recently found your channel Paul.
Love the style and what you cover.
Also, 10/10 for following Colin Furze!
Awesome, thank you!
Man this is SOO helpful Paul!! Thanks a ton man! Might be building this as my first build 😁
Thanks for an awesome tutorial! In 2022 now, would you recommend something different as an indoor cinewhoop carrying a protected (non-naked) gopro? I was considering a Pavo 25 or Cinelog 25 with beefed up FC/motors... just wondering your '2022-2023' opinion? Thanks!
Nice dude, I love the squirt.
Freestyle, freestyle, freestyle! (with the squirt you just built)
What a very detailed video, thank you!
Thanks for that motor drag trick 👊🏼
What’s the advantage of going ‘props out’ as opposed to ‘props in’?
What do you guys want to see built next? What sorts of tutorials and other content would you like to see? LEAVE A COMMENT!

I'd like to see huge DJI goggle giveaway :D
I would love to see a racing tutorial, even if it’s on the sim. Cheers!
Im about to start ordering parts to build a Geyser. My plan is to get the biggest baddest everything and be able to do a lil freestyle as well. Possible?
Subscribed! Thank you for sharing these!
Thanks for the sub!
Brilliant. Got to get into this. Just wish i could fly it
Hey Nurk FPV
2 questions:
1. Why do you choose to run props out as apposed to in ?
2. If I wanted to build this setup for analog I would just need to pick a different Receiver, Camera, and FC right ? ... since this is for dj HD setup only.
Still fairly new and learning so any info would be greatly appreciated ! Thanks
Very good video and explanations ! :)
can we fly smoothly indoor with 6s battery? do i need to use another motor for 6s batter?
I built this as my first quad! Thanks!
Good night and health to everyone. Woow thank you for all the good information. 👍🙏Good job 👏
Clean and easy, thank you
Man... I love this kind of stuff... Really...
Do you need to wire a capacitor with the power connector? I’m building my first one this coming week and I see some people do and some people don’t? How do you know whether or not it’s needed? Thanks!
You don't NEED a capacitor, but it can be helpful to decrease image noise. For this build, I personally used a Panasonic FM Series 35V 470uf capacitor. You can get them on amazon for pretty cheap. Since the ESC's on this stack are integrated, you can simply solder the cap to the area where the batt wires kiss the board. I hope this helps! 😊
You say sawder, I say solder. Good video
I bought the CLOUD 149 frame, looking forward to putting it all together.
You said you like to run your props running out instead of in. What is the difference and why do you choose that direction? Thanks.
I'm building in this frame now. One question what props used ? ( In the description no having ) Thank you for the video. !!
Would also love to know the props that were used. I just got everything in the mail and see the motors did not come with props :(
@@3dtourchicago366 Shendrone suggests the HQ 4x4.3x3 props, but you have to cut them down to fix. Here's a how to www.shendrones.com/squirt-build-tips
I have always wanted to build a drone. I will try this
been loving the channel i know its kinda late for this but you flipped the order of the wires for the rear right motor (1) lol keep up the awesome content though keeping me going until i can save up enough spare cash to get into the hobby
Thank you for this, been intimidated by FPV but want to get into it slowly
just do it bro fpv is the most fun ever
Why are the ducts made of TPU? I am woundering if good old PLA may be a better choise to keep the prop spinning in case of a kollision.
Dude pls, you are one of the best out there but your soldering on the battery leads, damn thats far away to be good. ^^
yea it looks like the blob on the pad didn't flow he needs to use some flux and let it heat up more
The esc thinks, that my right motors are the ones in the back... How can I fix this??!
So I run the esc and fc sideways like you and every time I give some throttle, the esc gives the wrong motors the throttle. For example, I roll to the right and the drone gives the motors in the back power.
you have to remap the motors in blheli32, its beacuse the esc is sideways and therefore resulting in the motor outputs being different
@@charlie-sm4es Thank you really much. Saves my Ass
@@carbonbird2880 very welcome!
Hi Paul, Thank you for this build video! I already have an Infinity FC/ESC 305 and Air Unit I purchased last year for a build that never happened. I purchased the Squirt and Brother Hobby 1507/3100 KV from Rotor Riot. Do you see any problem with the stack or motors for the Squirt? I believe the motors are the same RR uses in their Squirt build but not sure. Thank you!!!
Howmany pack's in a row can the squirt ( V2) handle? 850 mah pack 4S- Brother Hobby 1407 3600kv with iFlight SucceX-E Mini 35A stack.
I understand as long the motors or stack is not emitting to much heat i can keep going. But at what point I'm overflying and should give the machine a break?
Hi. Thanks for you job! This blue motors are 3s as i know. Did they work ok on 4s lipo?
What kind of different lenght and size is it on the Screws and Standoff ?
Cinewhoops are the BEST! Thanks for showing how to do it!
They do some amazing shit!
Thanks for your passion bro!
Would love to build this sucker but with all the supply chain issues right now it'll be very difficult to get one's hands on all the parts.
What is the total weight of the drone including the battery?
Can I put any heavier cameras on it? What would be the "load" capacity? Can you test it please
Hi Nurk! This video is great.
I’m having trouble getting the squirt to respond to the throttle. Not sure what I missed. Could it be one of the settings in beta flight.
What are some trouble shoot options besides tearing it down and starting over?
kan you use the dji fpv system with for example the tbs tango 2 ?
My understanding, very likely incorrect, is that there is a receiver for the flight control and a transmitter for the video system. I think you have the same link to the receiver and the video xmitter. Cheers, and thanks for consuming my Sunday and Monday. lol
The dji air unit contains both the receiver and the transmitter
If I would switch to 1606 motors, do I retain the 3750 kv, or go a bit lower rather?
Thanks for that man - very informative!
My pleasure!
Can I use an fpv without the air unit
So, what's is the main differences between this and the larger one you build?
Can i install a tbs unify pro 32 hv in a bumblebee v2 frame? Just thinking because it’s a close frame and maybe the vtx will get to hot. Thanks
Hey nurk, thanks for the vid. Can you comment on running a 6s for this build? since the components are all rated up to 6s I imagine it would be fine, but I am also a newb.
Interesting build. First, do you sell the kit completed? Second, does a written construction manual come with the kit? Third, what is the cost of the kit? I would guess the programming app comes online? Are larger complete kits sold? Thanks for the video. Very informative.
Nice video but this quad is way to whinny for me to fly at the BMX park without annoying everybody. Is it just these props or are all cinewhoops this loud?
Hi @NURK FPV! I want to jump into making indoor-house video tours so I bought a Cinelog 25. Did I buy a wrong whoop?
Thoughts about 4S vs 6S on this Cinewhoop?
I am about to go for this, ordered a tinywhoop, next step is dji digital system and a cine whoop
Hello friend, all right, I want to buy a Happymodel Larva X drone and it has these three versions, Frsky D8 BNF , FLYSKY BNF , DS M2X BNF , can you tell me if possible the difference between them and if the Betafpv Literary 2 SE control works in this drone, thank you.
Great video like always my friend. No capacitor?
Much preferred this build, than the RR one, no JB talking over your shoulder;-)
I installed my nbd fc upside down I didn’t know I could change it in bf. I got that working but no osd I made sure port 6 was open and telemetry was on . I’m also using the air unit with same stack . My first nbd fc had osd not sure why this doesn’t ?
Are you getting voltage for the air unit in the OSD bottom right corner?
NURK FPV thanks for the reply yes sir I do get voltage in red (16v) . I opened my new nbd 30 stack and started building while watching last night and same thing red voltage bottom right no osd
@@NoiseBoysGarage go into your goggle settings while connected to the air unit and enable "Custom OSD" and you should get BF osd
svosprey I checked that like a few times and it’s on . Still no osd . I have a total of four air units and I’m only not seeing osd on my nbd stacks . The others works fine full osd .diatone and off brand stack both . I love how it flys though 30 stack on a5”
there is not a single video on how to assemble cinebot 30 using GEP F722 45A AIO and dji O3
on youtube.
thank you so much for putting this guide together. so helpful to have an end to end guide to follow. can you make a similar video on how to build an extreme budget drone (and include extreme budget goggle/transmitter recommendations) for people just starting out with FPV who don't have a lot of cash to invest?
flies awesome..updated the betaflight and all the ports were removed.t do you have a link for a firmware file?
The description does not mention props. Do we need to buy it separately? I saw on the ShenDrone's Squirt 2.1 page where it says the props is "HQ 4x4.3x3 props cut down to 3". What prop is that? and do we need to cut it? is there any prop does not need cutting?
Hi guys,
Im a bit of a conundrum.
I used this video to build my cinewhoop and after not using it for a year or two I couldn't fly it today. The dji control wouldn't arm the drone.
I updated Betaflight to 4.5 and update the firmware
How I'm still having the issue where the drone will not arm.
Does anyone know if there is a drone build using betaflight 4.5?
What charger goes with the (Thunder Power Adrenaline V3.0 1340mAh 4S 120C Lipo Battery)?
Shouldn't we run a capacitor on this? Or isn't really needed?
Hi Paul, I'm currently using your video to build my own squirt, it's great!
Just one question, I want to use a CRSF Nano RX, do you have a tutorial about the wiring for that part?
alo lindo video deseo que prosigan haciendo este contenido¡¡¡!!! Voy a continuar mirando sus creaciones. Les envio un abrazo nos vemos pronto 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Do you offer a local class in Indy/Carmel/Geist for building FPV’s?
I've been meaning to ask, how much is it affected by wind? I've been flying a GEPRC Rocket Plus recently and while it's much smaller than this, and therefore lighter, the wind just throws me around. Hypersmooth/reelsteady aside, I've been wondering how your footage even outside seems so rock steady.
It's pretty badly effected by the wind, yes. Sometimes I have to choose other drones when the wind is strong. I usually use this for indoors or really low, slow close proximity stuff.
Props out is best. Keeps grass clippings off the camera lenses. ;)
Would you still recommend the squirt for the hero9? If not, do you have any other recommendations for a good Cinewhoop to fly the 9? Thanks!
I do recommend it. It's all I use
@@NURKFPV You're the man. Thanks!
Have you done any naked gopro whoops? The Dison Mini is all the rage at the moment, I'm doing one with a geprc cinepro frame 248 grams in the air, taking it for a proper test flight Sunday!
I have nearly the same build. Do you also have small wobbles in slow forward flight. Or if you cruise very slow gentle. Any suggestion?
I was thinking to buy this one, but i went with Diatone Taycan. This one can do Mild Freestyle.
Hey, total newb question... Do you have to use the DJI system with this FC? A lot of FC advertise how easy they work with DJI, but have no mention of Runcam, etc.
Usually yes they work just fine with analog setups. What this usually means (easy connection to DJI) is that they have an extra voltage regulator to power the air unit since it can only handle 4S and a lot of us fly 6S. There are a few boards that leave out the OSD to save money or space, since the DJI system has its own OSD, but those usually clearly say they don’t have an OSD. I can only think of one or two iFlight boards that are this way (like the Succex-A 40A AIO).
Frank nailed it ^
hi there.
if I was to follow your build in Australia what would I need to change?
A beginner first build.
software???
thanks in advance
Thank you , this is so helpful
Does this build require the DJI goggle/radio?
Time to start buying things piece by piece to help my wish to be a drone cinematographer happen
