    Its always nice to make memories with family like this that will last a lifetime! While I never really played Baseball in my life, I did play lots of backyard football with my brother, father and some old irl friends of mine from years ago. Definitely memories worth cherishing all throughout life! Thanks for sharing this beaut of a vid man!

      Hey Jim! I wish I could remember the last time I played catch with my dad. Probably sometime in college. Can’t get those days back. Thanks for watching and hope you’re doing well after that Celtics celebration!

    Sheer poetry, my friend. The imagery painted by your words tells the story about how baseball is about relationships. For you, it was cornfields. For me, it’s was the backyard. For others it may have been the park, the street or a playground. The game is the connective tissue between generations. I love when you said baseball is a game that is taught, not caught. That is often the case. I wish it were caught, then taught. What I mean by that is the game first captures your heart and you go from there. When I coached, I wanted kids to catch what was called “Baseball Fever.” That was an old MLB ad campaign from the late 70s early 80s. I remember it well growing up.
    To me, that is not just what baseball is about but also part of why I collect. It’s about the memories and how the cards and memorabilia serve as reminders of the things that matter the most to me.
    This was an outstanding video. I enjoyed every minute.
    I hope you had a nice Father’s Day .

      Hi Terry! Thank you so much for this fantastic comment. Made my day. I wish the game could be caught then taught as well. I do my best to try to have the kids catch “baseball fever” I’m not going to be 100% successful though this year. Great addition that it could be caught at the playground or the streets as well. You can tell I’m not from “the city” haha.
      I agree with you on collecting and baseball. I like having the cards as just another reminder of memories I made.
      Father’s Day was a good day. Hope yours was too and you enjoyed your kiss’s baseball tournaments.
      Thanks for the kind words and compliment Terry! Much appreciated . Hope you’re doing well.

    Way to get me all choked up! Seriously, what a beautiful reminder of passing the torch that is baseball. Both my girls gravitated to basketball, but thank God one of them plays softball. Nice touch with Human Wheels at the end!

      I apologize for the late response. Thank you very much for taking time to comment and watch. Nothing wrong at all with basketball. Probably my favorite overall sport. But agreed that it’s great that one plays softball so you can enjoy catch. It just doesn’t get better than catch.

    Outstanding video Andy. The thought about the popping of the glove is a specific sounds that is never forgotten. Playing catch with Dad is definitely a core memory. Baseball definitely can bring parents closer to their children. Really enjoyed. Talk with you soon!

    Great share and video Andy. absolutely love this video. Has to be one of my favorites i have seen in a very long time. I remember when i was a kid and i would always look forward to playing catch with my Dad or friends. Just like you my backyard was a cornfield and we would try and hit the baseballs into the field. Man I miss my youth. Always enjoy and thanks for sharing with us my friend. Mellencamp is fantastic.

    Fantastic video and message Andy. I could not wait for my dad to get home to play catch or hit me grounders when
    I was a kid.
    As a father of three girls I coached their basketball teams for years and loved every minute of it. Now that they are all grown basketball has become 9 holes of golf and I cherish every round.

    I’m sorry I’m only watching this now, Andy. What a great video and message. I really wish every dad with children could watch this and feel what you said. It could be life changing for them and their families. I never had the pleasure of playing catch with my dad. I did however have a couple of mentors that I did play catch with that were very important in my life. Those were special times and conversations that I treasure to this day. I’m fortunate to be able to do it now with not only my son but with children I get the responsibility to mentor. Thank you for sharing your story and thoughts my friend.

    • @Dcollection
      @Dcollection  6 месяцев назад

      Hey Hugo! No need to apologize. I’m just appreciative that anyone takes time out of their day to view watch something I did. So, thank you very much for doing that.
      I’m glad you got to experience playing catch with your mentors. You can say nothing in the game of catch and yet understand everything. It’s so important. And good for you to do that with your kids and equally good for you that you take time to mentor others. I know we only know each other through RUclips and the comments. But you’re a great guy and someone I respect and glad I’ve gotten to know you through this platform.
      Thanks again for taking the time to watch. Hope all is going well.

    Loved the video Andy! Kind of brought a tear to my eyes at the end. I have a great picture of my dad playing catch and a bat he made in his college days with his name on it. Mellancamps Small Town pretty much describes my little old hometown.

      Thanks, Scott! I wish I could remember the last time my dad and I played catch. Definitely something I keep in mind when I’m throwing the ball to my son. That’s great you have a bat that your dad made. Thanks for watching and the comment! Hope you’re having a nice week.

    Fantastic video and messages here, Andy! Like so many have said, Baseball is America. Just one of those classic institutions. I know the movie said maybe Iowa was Heaven, but wherever we were when our Dad said “ you wanna go throw” or like you having a catch with your son, that sounds like heaven to me. Well done my friend!

    • @Dcollection
      @Dcollection  7 месяцев назад

      Thanks, Joe! Well said about heaven is wherever our dad asked us to go throw or play catch. No matter the phrase, the result was the same and it was the best. Thanks for all the support, Joe! Hope you’re having a great week!

    Well done Andy. My boy and I don’t have a catch but Dad is learning some soccer during these warm nights. Baseball was my passion and getting to play softball with my oldest son years ago maybe one of the best experiences I had on the field.

    Getting caught up on some video after being away few a few days and being unplugged from everything and like always Andy this was amazing. Couldn’t not have said it any better. Definitely close to my heart. I still have my late grandfather glove sitting right on my desk and every time I look at it I think of all the time we played catch together and what I would do to be able to do that again. Enjoyed my friend.

    Howdy Andy ! Great Show ! Baseball does need to be taught. Football & basketball, not so much. Real nice your friend John Cougar Melonbreath stopped by the Show to inspire you. He does have some great writings. Some people know if they tell their stories in a book, nobody will see it, but if you put it to a tune, you can share it more easily to more people, over & over again. Books are out of date. My brother wants me to turn Held by Legends, Signed by Heroes into a book. I'm not interested, I'm already losing interest in now. Back to you my friend. Your stories are always really good, & only getting better. You have great tye-ins to each of the Shows. Andy, Your ending line was Awesome.
    Just Awesome. T

      @Dcollection  7 месяцев назад

      Hey Tom! The budget for my show has really grown and that’s how I was able to get Mellencamp make a cameo.
      I never thought about you turning held by legends into a book but that’s a great idea. I do understand how difficult that would be though. It would be cool to have that book on a bookshelf though.
      Thanks for the kind words, Tom. I’ve put more time into the last couple of videos. I’m glad it’s showing. Thanks again for watching and all your support. Hope you and Otis are well.

    • @SouvenirProgramsHere
      @SouvenirProgramsHere 7 месяцев назад

      @Dcollection Thanks for the laugh about your budget & Mellencamp. As for a book, they are easy to produce, you spend your own money to put your book on your shelf. I guess the process would be exciting & its something you can hold. That would be funny for my videos, half way thru the Show stop & say "make sure to buy my book & use the Taco Bell promo code for 10 % off & I'd like to thank my sponsor Tucks medicated pads". Glad you can find the time for your stories. It really makes a difference. Especially with researching stories. Interruptions ruin a good train of thought. I could not imagine trying to write with a family & a job. Wow. Tip my hat to you and the others in that situation. It's an easy video to flash a few cards & spit out stats. But taking somebody's life and trying to sum it up without skipping vital details is not easy to do & can take days & weeks. I take my time & work my story until it meets my standard of "Excellence" Ha !!
      You got some Great comments D, alot of best stories ever. High praise coming from some of these collectors/well educated people. I will say it again Andy, Great job with this heartfelt & somewhat poetic episode. Now if you could just monetize those comments, you could get John "Don't Call Me Cougar" Mellencamp to do Promos for your Show ! C ya !
