I'm personally looking to pivot my career so I can be on the train rather than in front of it. I already work in tech and it isn't a matter of if but when. That is not hyperbole, but more so a recognition of just how that tech works. AI is powerful because it can harness the iterative power of computers to fail and correct significantly faster than a human ever could. So it starts slow and becomes exponentially better at reasoning desired outcomes. It by definition will get better faster. It's a brave new world and a whole new paradigm for computing going forward. It's the very definition of a "With great power comes great responsibility" moment in human history.

The labor cost could be extremely low, however, corporations will not lower prices. This has proven time and time. Perhaps it's better to look at it as enlarging the financial gap (grossly) between the owners and the workers. Just a thought.

I didn’t do that and have been slumming it out with part time work and the occasional commission and it seems I’ve made the right choice, as it’s looking like personal style and taste may be the last thing to withstand the ai art apocalypse. I’m very scared and demoralized by the takeover of seemingly all human tasks by machines, but I hope at least that it will give us an opportunity to live ways that are meaningful to us, as I don’t think human utilitarianism can withstand what’s coming.
