a thousand thank yous! Just received my 996 engine back from the rebuild shop after almost a year. Now there is a bunch of components in boxes to be installed and I just need to do this video in reverse. This really helps.
Hello Tuscany Guy! That was exactly what I was hoping for 🙌. Before starting this project, "The Porsche 996" was like some kind of mythical beast. I just wanted to get some straight answers and put it out there for all to share. Everyone has been very supportive and helpful, I believe I would not have got this far without all the combined knowledge at work here. Thank you for watching 🤘😎
Good evening Nate, I’m afraid it may never end.... I still have to put it all back together 😱 Thank you for watching, enjoy your perfectly functional Porsche 😭
@@ManinaGarage Lol, I don’t know if a “perfectly functional Porsche” has ever been created in world history. These cars are less obstinate Alfa Romeo’s 🤣🤣 Which is a high compliment.
@@ManinaGarage I've found a new rebuilt M96 3.6 liter, with Nickies, JE pistons, balnced internals, triple row IMS, etc. How many hours would you guess for a somewhat competant Mechanic (myself) If I buy a 2 post lift, to remove an engine, switch all the parts over and clean the old parts, and install the engine? I love your show, and can't wait to keep watching. I was up late last night watching. Thanks again!!!
@@frankiolo Wow Frank! Sounds like a fun project 😉. I’m 32 weeks in. Some people could do what I have done in 1 week. The video editing takes longer than the car repair part, If you worked on it full time and had all your parts ready to go, I think a newbie could do it in 2-3 weeks. Good luck 🍀
Thanks for putting these videos together. I have to replace the Variocam pads here soon and these vids having given me the confidence to pull the engine myself. I have done quite a bit of repairs on my 996, including the AOS, and these are very helpful. Much appreicated!
Hello Scott, When I'm am putting this videos together, I am really hoping to be able to help people in a similar position to you and I by removing some of the terror and mystery 😅 . People have been so helpful in the comments that this really feels like a group effort, I hope these videos can help people enjoy these cars for years to come. Let me know if you have any questions regarding your Vario-cam Job. Thank you for watching 🤘😎
Now let's see you put it back together! 😅 When I did an engine swap (documented on my channel), I labelled all the wires and connectors but the best insurance is to take gazillions of photos from every possible angle! Nicely made video! And I am certain that your listing the major elements in your description will make this a valuable reference tool for many enthusiasts! Cheers, James
I really appreciate the feedback James 🤩 I am definitely concerned about putting it all back together and getting it to run, never mind pass California smog 👹. I hope it helps other people feel less intimidated, I’m committed now one way or the other....fingers 🤞 Thank you for watching 🙏
I plan on doing this to my 3.4L M96, first timer also, I've watched many tear down videos but they all seem to skip this part for some reason, mine was plagued with intermix
Hello Don, I really appreciate the feedback. I do fear that detail may bore people to tears 😭. My hope is to show people literally everything involved in getting the car back on the road. I am also interested in doing all the math at the end to see if it was worth it?.............Thank you for watching 🤘😎
@@ManinaGarage Looking forward to it! I feature my 996 C4S on my channel. I've just had a complete engine rebuild. Give me a sub my friend :) you've now joined an illustrious group of other Porsche loving channels in my featured channels pick!
Hello Andrew, it’s a funny thing you mention there, I find a lot of non English speakers are pretty good a swearing in English. The F word in English is particularly satisfying on the international stage.

What a great way to work on cars. Poker, beer, women in bikinis.
It certainly helps pass the time 🤩 Thank you for watching 🙏
Love the series. Though the slightly soft porn feel is a little odd lol. You need a stick on 70s moustache!
