I think Pearl is the key, that's why we still know nothing about her past. If she was as close to Rose as she says, then getting her to talk is important.

Ross obviously would not admit that because Crystal Gems could consider it as treason especially after it flopped. Also if CG Pearl is White Diamond Pearl she know even more then people expect her to know.
I understand that Rose is a liar but hey, all is fair in love and war. I admire Rose's fearlessness and ruthlessness even though she's also a kind and gentle soul. The Diamonds could have compromised with her and the other Gems who have been oppressed under their system, but instead they decided to keep ruling with an iron... er diamond... fist. So sure she did scummy things but under a dictatorship with oppressed classes of people who yearn for freedom the ends justify the means

About the line “we can never go home” Rose said to Pearl, I don’t think you should automatically say that Homeworld is the home of all the gems, or even just Rose. I think you should at it like “home is what you’re used to” or a place that you are comfortable at. So it makes sense that “we can never go home” was said, because what the meaning of that is “we can never go back to our old lives”
Whilst that would make sense in a way, wouldn't it have been phrased differently then? Like, we will never be able to return to our old lives? Or things will never be the same? Or we'll have to give up everything we know or something?

When I think of it, Bismuth talked about how RQ lied to everybody. So this actually makes sense to bring up because as you can see Bismuth was shut up and kept away.
to be fair bismuth was a bit irrational... wanting to shatter all of the diamond and topple the gem empire entire economy. think about it this way Roses rebellion made it off earth shattered yellow blue and white diamond.. what then? someone has to replace the government right? power corrupts. look at the french revolution they overthrew a corrupted king only to put an even more corrupted guy in power. Rose cared about all life and like Slice said the entire gem empire as we know it needs to planets with life on it to make more gems and continue their empire. if Roses ideology became the the ruling party how would the gem empire expand without hurting living creatures in the process? the diamonds may seem like the bad guys here and yes they don’t give their gems freedom and it is a dictatorship but can you blame them? a gem who promised freedom to other gems shatters one of them and starts a war. makes freedom look like a bad thing in the eyes of the diamonds. the only logical thing i see here as to why the audience is so team Crystal Gens is the location of the series. the earth:as humans we sympathise with the whole ideology of Protecting the earth and its inhabitants. take the setting put it on mars. most of the audience would then be #ScrewMars and be on team Homeworld but the very fact that the main setting is the planet we live on is why so many of us think The Crystal Gems are the good guys here.
Garnet seemed to genuinely believe the story so it isn't exactly lying. It seems as if she is just repeating a story told to her by someone else (rose, pearl, bismuth, etc) This does seem to fall in line with the here say of what the Rubies, off colours, etc say about Rose. No-one seems to have the facts straight, not even the crystal gems. Though I suspect Pearl knows more than what she's letting on.

Jasper viewed earth as a prison and she most likely spent a lot of time on Homeworld after the war, so it makes sense for her to think Homeworld is her home even though she came from earth.
Wait...what? I missing some critical information. How do we know it's Pink Diamond's abandoned Kindergarten on Homeworld? And how do we know "The Answer" took place BEFORE Pink was shattered? And how do we know what Rose meant by "Home?" I thought "We can never go home" could be short for "home as we knew it." Pearl can't go back to Homeworld, Rose can't go back to her Earth quartz family. Neither can go back to any Gem society they once knew because they are outcasts and exiles. Help from anyone would be appreciated, because I'm confused. :/
I only have an answer for one lol. It’s fairly reasonable to say that The Answer took place before Pink’s shattering for 3 reasons: 1) Garnet herself stated that Blue Diamond came to Earth to get rid of a “small persistent group of rebels”. The Crystal Gems were not a large and formidable force yet. 2) Garnet is considered one of the original Crystal Gems; if she didn’t come into the picture until after Pink was shattered, why do we have that flashback image of Garnet and the others facing off against Pink in Gemcation? 3) Garnet’s form had changed drastically between her first appearance and the Diamond attack, which happened almost immediately after Pink was shattered, as we saw in Your Mother and Mine.
longtail4711 to answer some questions we know the kindergarten was pinks because there are lines next to or under the diamond and the ones the off colors are in indicates it was pinks. And we know the answer took place before pinks shattering because in a flashback we never got to fully see described by garnet she was with other crystal gems fighting pink diamond.

The Rubies, whom one would expect to belong to Pink Diamond, have no diamond insignia at all (unlike Sapphire, through the arrangement of her costume). 2. Although Earth was described by both Eyeball and Blue Diamond as belonging to Pink Diamond, the last is nowhere to be seen. Why is Blue Diamond alone conducting the primary effort to suppress the rebellion, unless Pink was no longer in the picture and Blue had "inherited" Earth? Not merely what Rose said in the Rose's Scabbard hologram, but what she said to Greg in We Need to Talk. Rose must have previously told Greg that she was from another world (as Pearl wouldn't talk to Greg at all, Amethyst would have said that she was made on Earth, and Garnet wouldn't have said anything unless Rose gave her permission, and if that's the case Rose is far more likely the one to tell Greg), so he could ask the question "do you ever miss your home planet?" Unlike the possible cases of Garnet and Bismuth, Rose would not have a compelling reason to curry favor, and in consequence embellish or falsify her origin. Finally, if Rose was made on Earth, why would Amethyst be ashamed of her Earth emergence? How could Pearl voice disgust and horror over the Prime Kindergarten if her beloved Rose Quartz came from there or another place on Earth like it?
Zephaniah Wimberly she was a threat before Pink's shattering because she was talking about leaving the colony for the benefit of those who lived on it and not of her own kind. Its the radical thinking that started making her a threat
I think maybe Garnett is thinking of a timeline when things happened in the way she told the off colors, as in pool hoping she pointed out that onion was in space and not Lars. Being that Rose doesn't care to correct others on mistakes of the story, she just let Garnett think how she wanted to not upset the balance of her upcoming army.
Only problem is that she doesn't see the past as far as we know and that stuff is and for her was always the past. I suppose Sapphire could have seen it, but she was only brought in after the fact.

Remember Sapphire was the main "tell all" for blue diamond specifically at one point, so it wouldn't be off to think that is what she predicted as well as pieced together from the rumors and her actually meeting rose quartz. Herr predictions only are valid when she can calculate how a person feels about something and i think she is going from that.
Peridot's comment that Pearl was "fancy" was a reaction to her appearance, but we already know at that point in the show that that is not Pearl's original form. If her original form was more humble, once she joined the rebellion she easily could have changed her form to look more fancy or high class
I think the reason for pink diamonds being so cold is because she wasn't given command of any colonies before and because she was depicted as a child the first time we saw her so maybe she is attempting to be more like the other diamonds. Resulting in her being cruel

Y'know, I kinda feel bad for Pink Diamond.... Like, it's her first colony, everything's going great, and of course the newbie gets the biggest problem to deal with. Like... It figures, you know?
I'm spreading this around because I want to know what people think and I'm hoping someone might make a theory video, animatic, etc on it. So here's my version of Rose's path: I wanted Rose to have been made on Homeworld, maybe the first gem that Pink Diamond ever made. But unlike normal Quartzes that are made for fighting, Rose Quartz gems were more defensive, partly due to Pinks desire to be protected. Think about it; Pink Diamond is the youngest gem. She is seen as a child in the eyes of her diamonds and when she created her first gem, the gem came out with maternal instinct. The ability to heal Pink Diamond’s gem if it was to ever get cracked, enhanced reflexes and speed to rush to Pink Diamonds aid if she needed her, a shield and a bubble to protect Pink Diamond from being harmed, and the ability to float and reach things that Pink Diamond couldn’t because of her short stature. But Rose Quartzes were not actually made for fighting. What active fighting abilities do Rose Quartzes have other than their strength? Rose has her sword but that was given to her by Bismuth. Rose was originally Pink’s bodyguard/friend/maternal figure and she was the first Rose Quartz to be made. Rose kept Pink safe and out of trouble on Homeworld. Keeping her entertained while Blue and Yellow were busy building colonies. While the other diamonds had Pearls, Pink Diamond only had a Rose Quartz. Rose bonded with White Diamond’s Pearl (our Pearl) who eventually fell in love with her. Rose was there when Pink asked for her own colony and she was the one to heal Pink’s arm, which Yellow Diamond injured after Pink broke the glass. And something inside Pink broke too. Tired of not being taken seriously, Pink tried to prove to Yellow that she could handle her own colony with Rose by her side, watching her struggle. The only person that she could trust, who actually saw her potential. The only gem to call her “My Diamond,” Then Pink was given her own planet and her own colony. She and Rose went to earth together. She created Jaspers and Amethysts to help with the colonization, but Rose was still the only Rose Quartz. Pink Diamond was worried that her gems would not respect her, when they saw how small she was, so she stayed in her Palanquin at all times, using Rose as her mouthpiece. Rose grew fond of the humans on the planet and expressed her concerns to Pink Diamond about the effects the colonizes were having on the planet and the people who lived there. So, Pink invented the human zoo as a place for them to go. But who would take care of the humans on the zoo? So, Pink made more Rose Quartzes for the task but kept her Rose separated because she was special. But Rose wasn’t just concerned about the humans there. She fell in love with the rain, the flowers, and the animals. She fell in love with the way things changed on the planet and the earth adjusted. And the more she spoke out to Pink Diamond, the more the distance grew between them. Then Rose started giving different orders. Ordering gems to help humans, to build, lies that she said came from Pink Diamond. And when Pink Diamond found out…the betrayal changed something inside of her. She banished Rose back to Homeworld, where she was to work in the zoo with the humans she loved so much. But without Rose, Pink was afraid to show herself. When she confessed her fears to the other Diamonds, Yellow made her limb enhancers to give her the height of the other Diamonds, and a spikey helmet similar to the one Yellow’s so that she would look more frightening. She vowed never to get close to a gem she created again. And then she went back to earth, a colder, crueler gem, leaving Rose on Homeworld. There Rose reconnected with Pearl and after telling her of her desire to go back, Pearl agreed to help. Pearl helped Rose still a ship, having the knowledge of how to fly one and the two landed on the spot from the Sword and the scabbard. The two had the conversation that Pearl showed Steven. They started the rebellion, Rose recruiting gems with similar feelings on the planet as her. The rest of the story; the part with Pink Diamond being shattered should have been left out. I wanted to hear that part from Pearl. But I believe that if Pink and Rose were close, she might have believed Rose was coming to surrender. It would explain why Pink stepped out of the Palanquin, she never believed that her Rose would really hurt her. Sorry, that was long :)
Everybody seems to be forgetting. Holly Blue Agate _specifically_ states that the Human Zoo was originally like a prison. The reason it is the way it is now is because in this state, the humans don't fight back. It's a simple case of A happy animal is easyer to take care of then a trapped animal
In fairness to the CG, Steven is like 14; I'd be careful with my words too. Probably the same mindset the other Diamonds had towards Pink Diamond; she's just a kid. PD's first colony was Earth she still needed time to grow and learn to be leader. THE SAME AS STEVEN. Stevonie had an entire dream sequence empathizing PD's situation. The other Diamonds didn't tell PD the full truth about free will or organic life because they didn't feel like she could handle that information on top of her development. THE SAME AS STEVEN. PD, not being equipped to deal with Rose Quarts, allowed a rebellion to occur which ultimately lead to her death. Ramble ramble ramble/ the CG need to stop keeping Steven in the dark; it's unprofessional.
Pink Diamond revived by Steven ÷ the crystal gems blowing up for TRUSTING a DIAMOND × Garnet losing the remaining marbles + comedy gold Rush + Amethyst being WTF is going on - a good day = a recipe for a Steven Universe episode and not to mention, sanity loss.
the only reason Pearl and Rose had that conversation is because Pearl was the only one from Homeworld, and I believe that was the reasoning that and other events as you supposed made her believe Rose told her everything apart from others. SU will end with both positive and negative from both gem sides, with a further explanation of what truly happened and it's future, if CN let it flow.
That's the thing, when you've hit rock bottom...any light you see is a saving grace. It reminds me of what Jasper says to Steven. Something like: I see what you do, Rose, you go for gems when they're at their lowest. And then you give them hope. To the off colors, Garnet's story gave them a sense of belonging. Like even if they were different and were shunned by society, they had a place to belong among the Crystal Gems. When you're given something like that, you'd believe anything. People are social creatures, gems included, who want to belong.
that is true, they really were alone into that pit, and I guess the crew wanted to pass that sense of "politically owning people together to a cause", so Garnet was pretty much giving a propaganda - if that's the right term.
Every revolution in history has a lot of dark secrets no one wants to talk about or even knows for generations. Such as the American Revolution, they don't talk about how close it was to failing in history, few people even know the original white house was burned or that the first place for it wasn't even Washington D.C. Let alone that George Washington for actions done before the American Revolution could easily be labeled as a war criminal for what he did.

Because Garnet was trying to get the Off Colors to join them and show them what the Crystal Gems were all about. If Steven did what you suggested, it would complicate things and throw a wrench in that plan.

He had his problem with Connie to deal with. Plus, he probably doesn't trust what they have to say at this point. They have been lying to him and keeping secrets from him and Steven even blew up at them about it. That's what I think anyway.

Exactly. That's why I can't blame Steven for not asking them things. He can't trust them. Especially when it comes to information that's probably sensitive to them. Like anything pertaining to Rose (who the Crystal Gems actually didn't know too much about since they aren't privy to certain things Rose kept secret).
But Rose was the anti-gem! It has been repeatedly stated that rose put earth over everything and everyone. She stopped the progress of her diamonds first colony and misinformed gems as soon as they were made.
Has anyone noticed in the recent episode how Garnet said, Rose fell in love but in “We need to Talk” Rose didn’t fully understand love or her feelings toward Greg. So I was little confused on how she could fall in love if she didn’t fully understand feelings. I feel that Garnet story isn’t ALL the way accurate. Tell if anyone else noticed that or feel the same way.
Good point. I wonder if Garnet assumed Rose fell in love, based off Ruby and Sapphire's experience. Or maybe Rose said she fell in love without getting what that meant. Maybe Rose thought affection or friendship=human love.

Yess! I thought this too when I heard Garnet, that just made me believe even more that either Pink staged her shattering or white diamond did it to stop wasting resources on a war for a single planet.
If Rose Quartz lied to the other gems I don’t think she meant to do it to be hurtful or harmful but to help them or to spare them the pain. I remember an interview with someone who worked on the show who sayid that Rose tried her best to not tell or interest Amethyst about Homeworld culture because she wanted her to be able to grow as a person without a role but wasn’t aware and never suspected she might have made Amethyst have a confidence issue about herself from not knowing about her home culture. Plus there was that Bismuth matter where she hid her for a thousand years without telling anyone even after the war. It’s like Shakespeare said, “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.” And obviously who or whatever Rose’s real backstory is, it’s clear with her actions throughout the show.

Milan Ceschia I just assumed it was because Sapphire is a rare and important gem, and as such is held at a higher regard than a common ruby. It’s like if a peasant “fused” with a duchess- the queen wouldn’t be impressed.
Megan Purdy makes sense but the reason I made that comment is cause the diamonds probably helped in exchange for trading gems with pink diamond and since White diamond was the most powerful she didn't need to trade for pinks silly earth gems
Or perhaps ruby is seen as a solider or lower ranking gem whilst Sapphire is a higher ranking gem for her ability to see into the future. Sapphire is apart of her court due to her useful ability whilst Ruby is apart of her army or guard or labour force due to having brute strength and durability.
Rose was probably created to help Pink Diamond to terraform the Earth. Her plant control powers would have been very useful. Maybe other Rose Quartzes controlled diiferent lifeforms.
Fungi, single celled oranisms. bacteria and viruses.. They could not only heal but possibly create diseases against competing lifeforms and definitely alter them.
Man all these theories seem to be pointing to Rose being evil or having some form of sinister motive. I am certain if secrets were kept even from her most trusted allies, they were kept for good reason, not out of some sinister plot she likely never got to finish. Her giving herself up so Steven could exist, proves she is not some monster. I definitely feel there is more to Rose, but I don't feel it is of something evil or heinous, I feel there may have been something between Rose and Pink Diamond, there has to be some deeper connection between the two, as I feel Pink Diamond is the only gem that could have allowed Rose to even gain the power she did. I just don't see a regular Quartz solider, rallying against a diamond, without ever loyal gem to the diamond, rallying up to have her taken to be shattered. And I don't feel any diamond would have been forgiving enough to allow a gem under their command, to run around riling up other gems with attempts to overthrow their hierarchy. I mean, had Rose been a part of Yellow Diamonds court, she would have been shattered the second Yellow Diamond found out she was defying her orders. And I still believe, that there is no way Rose was strong enough to shatter Pink Diamonds physical form, let alone her gemstone, despite how much tinier she was compared to the other diamonds. I feel that whatever happened, it was orchestrated by Pink Diamond and Rose. Their had to have been some form of partnership between the two, its the only way, that Rose could have even taken out Pink Diamond with little to no witnesses.
Thing is though I don't believe she shattered Pink Diamond, either meaning Steven was right and she is still out there, or as many has theorized, Rose is Pink Diamond. I believe Pink Diamond grew to love the life on earth and could not bare to ruin it, and maybe she inspired Rose to rebel, and told Rose of her plan and faked her death to shirk her responsibility as a diamond, in the hopes it would scare her sisters away.

After all there is a theory that somehow the diamonds grow bigger for each colony they get which would explain why in stevonnie flashback pink diamond was their size but in garnets flashback pink was much bigger

Rose made pearl unable to speak or one of the diamonds put pearl as a spy and rose kept her extremely close so she couldn't betray them, but she wasn't a spy and now rose feels bad for doing all that to poor pearl. That's the nature of their relationship we can't see yet
Alright, why would Rose Quartz lie about her history to Garnet? Possible reasons: Garnet, unlike Pearl, Bismuth and perhaps others of her command group, may actually be the least dedicated to Rose Quartz personally, and perhaps to the secondary goals of the Crystal Gem movement (i.e. the political side rather than the eco-protective side, which Garnet believes in according to the Answer's flashback). Garnet's first loyalty will always be to Ruby's and Sapphire's opposite partner, and indeed was willing to ally herself with Rose primarily because of her stated tolerance for fusion. Rose knew Pearl and Bismuth before the rebellion, but not Sapphire nor Ruby. It could be that Rose, a short time after getting to know Garnet, learned of Ruby's and Sapphire's preferred ideal of a leader--or at least as important, what kind of background they didn't want in their leader--and Rose, recognizing the great value in having a Sapphire on her team to counter the efforts of the others serving the Diamonds, invented a personal history that would best please Garnet's components. Call me biased, but if this turned out to be the case I'd expect that the false story was intended mostly to placate Ruby rather than Sapphire, because while Sapphire has the capacity to make value judgments and to compromise, Ruby is far-too easily triggered about relatively minor things and doesn't think strategically. This could have been the case with Bismuth as well, assuming that she also believes that Rose was made on Earth and not merely made a clumsy metaphor. Bismuth is unfortunately just as class-conscious and bigoted as the Diamonds, and might have made clear her disgust at serving "uppercrusts from Homeworld". If Rose was actually one of those "uppercrusts" she might have provided herself with a plebian Earth origin to gain Bismuth's favor.
I completely agree with this, and I think if Rose lied about being made on Earth then it was to win the favor of gems disgusted by the Homeworld hierarchy, as you inferred. Another thing I've noticed is that Rose would have referred to Earth more as home in her flashback sequences (not left it ambiguous as it now may seem), like how Amethyst says she will fight for Earth because it's where she was made. Amethyst also has said Earth is her home. I know this could just be how Amethyst feels instead of it being a widespread concept for Gems to consider a planet they were made on as home. It's too bad Steven can't meet gems made on another planet that's not Homeworld. Although, if it's in the makeup of a Gem to call Homeworld home, then it doesn't explain why Amethyst hasn't done that, unless her isolation in the Prime Kindergarten interfered with that process. I also don't think we ( general we) should discount the conversation between Rose and Pearl in Rose's Scabbard as being a mistake. It was intimate, and Rose let down her guard a little, showing Pearl her emotions of not being able to return to Homeworld. I don't think her saying, "We can never go home." meant Earth in this light. She wouldn't be leaving the planet, and I highly doubt she meant a specific spot that they could no longer visit. If they won, then they could go anywhere on Earth anytime they wanted. And also, if Rose does mean a Homeworld she wasn't made on, then why would she look as sad as she did when saying they wouldn't be able to go home? Rose could've visited Homeworld, but based off of Amethyst's and the other Amethyst's reactions, they don't seem to be missing Homeworld anytime soon. Lapis visited Earth but didn't have an attachment to it; I would assume Rose visiting Homeworld would place her in awe and reverie but what more connection could she feel beyond this? I wish we had other Gem reactions to their Kindergartens to see if a place of origin holds special meaning to all Gems or if it's just our Amethyst.
And now that we know the truth, we know that gems who are different would much rather follow a rose quartz Who is also different yet found the strength and power within herself to rise up and free a home that is also different and that welcomes those like them then they would a pink diamond who “ got overly attached to her colony” who was clearly born with her strength and power and pretty much ( in the eyes of most) started a civil war to protect it instead of a rebellion and just drafted a bunch of oblivious soldiers under the guise they were rebels fighting against the whole diamond tyrannical force...

My two cents and a theory. Theory- Pearl was shapeshifted into a sword and was used to shatter Pink D, Eyeball has been proven to be fooled by color discrepancies, so her account and Bismuth's statement can be both valid. Garnet would have no way of knowing that unless Rose or Pearl told her. Rose saying they couldn't go home could mean they couldn't come back to Homeworld society. Like home means the structured, rubber stamp-ish lifestyle of following orders and knowing your stake in the universe as a soldier, well... something to that regards. On Rose's sword vs The Shattering of Pink Diamond. it would be terrible/poor execution to have Bismuth's line about having to make Rose's sword to never shatter a Gem be just a phrase, a motto for the Rebels.
Well, the CG's think they _won_ the war and that Rose was some kind of saint. That alone is enough to raise a few red flags. Neither side seems to have the full set of facts and are acting on here say at best. Pearl is the only one who was there the longest with Rose during the rebellion and may be the only one who knows more about what actually happened, which is most likely why Sugar is gagging her. I would also venture the suggestion that Rose probably was a homeworld gem and that she merely oversaw Earth's kindergarden. It just doesn't make sense for her to be an Earth world gem because then it would mean that she lost nothing by rebelling.

I wonder if Rose just let the myth of her grow and never corrected people, because myths are powerful as evidenced by the terrified off colours, and inspiring by the retelling by Garnet. You could imagine this as like an extreme adherence to her doctrine of freedom; freedom for others to believe their own ideas/facts (especially since it didn't hurt her cause).
Soooooo glad there are other people who share my opinion about this. This episode made me feel uneasy in certain parts of Garnet's narration. Felt like the off colors were getting Crystal Gem propoganda compared to the original Diamond propoganda,
Man you want Rose to be perfect. She’s doing her best to protect doesn’t mean she has to protect the whole universe. Also did we open zoos so we could protect animals. No we did it to make cash. Just cause Pink diamond had a zoo doesn’t mean she had compassion. It could be she made the zoo to show the type creatures off. The ones that used to be on the planet. I still trust Rose.
If all Pink cared about was preserving humans as trophies, she wouldn't have gone through the lengths that she did go through to make sure that they're this happy and comfortable and that everything is perfect to make them _happy._ I personally still... kind of trust Rose. I do believe she did questionable things at that not every part of her story may be pretty, like that we haven't seen yet. But that doesn't mean I think she was a thoroughly terrible person.
I think we're supposed to believe that Rose was ultimately a good person who just did shady things to protect what she cared about. That's how she is to me at least which is why I can't really gel with people thinking she's some kind of heinous monster.
Watching this after everything is funny cause your suspicions couldn't be more correct even with some things that didn't line up here and there. This also highlights and explains Perl's anger about Lion when she was trusted with the most important secret of secrets before. 👍 People need to rewatch this video after seeing the newer ones. 😂 Perhaps folks wouldn't be as salty.

King Millo hello! At 4:18 in the video, you can see the Diamond insignia over the entrance to the Kindergarten. There is a line under the lowest diamond. In the insignia, you can see that Pink Diamond's diamond is also the lowest. Since the line is under this diamond, it means that this kindergarten indeed belonged to Pink Diamond. Hope this helped!
Wait, do you guys remember all of those other rose quartz's that were bubbled in the zoo? Well I been thinkin, what if one of those quarts shattered pink diamond and the other Diamonds automatically thought it was our rose quartz because she is the one who started the Rebellion against pink? What if eyeball just saw one of those Roses? What if our Rose quartz wasn't even around pink during the shattering and she was actually in Beach City instead of the palenquen? I thought something was up too cause in the flash back it shows rose killing pink with her sword. BUT, Bismuth THE CREATOR of her sword said that it couldn't shatter gems.
Most likely scenario, Pink Diamond WANTED TO LOSE. Everything about her cruelty was a facade to make her appear as a typical tyrant/model Diamond in Garnets story. In reality, she probably loved organic life as much as Rose. Pink devised a plan to remove herself from her position and either partnered with or used Rose as a means to an end. After being defeated, Rose cries on Pink, who shape-shifts into Lion. The Earth and it’s organic lives are saved “thanks” to Rose, Pink is no longer a Diamond, but it’s a very ugly story. Rose & Pearl sacrificed the Crystal Gems, apart from Garnet, to save Earth from the Diamonds. That’s what I think, anyway.

I believe that Pink Diamond didn’t want the humans to suffer but did her duties to impress and prove that she be a great ruler. This is her first time ruling so she didn’t want to mess up her chance to prove that she can manage a colony on her own

I try to write books too, but you also need to realize that creators are human and that they make mistakes. It's perfectly understandable to be critical of something if there are mistakes being made. If you say that something is perfect without analyzing what the show presents, then honestly, I feel that your version of like is shallow. I think you should at it like “home is what you’re used to” or a place that you are comfortable at. So it makes sense that “we can never go home” was said, because what the meaning of that is “we can never go back to our old lives”

Wait...what? I missing some critical information. How do we know it's Pink Diamond's abandoned Kindergarten on Homeworld? And how do we know "The Answer" took place BEFORE Pink was shattered? And how do we know what Rose meant by "Home?" I thought "We can never go home" could be short for "home as we knew it." Pearl can't go back to Homeworld, Rose can't go back to her Earth quartz family. Neither can go back to any Gem society they once knew because they are outcasts and exiles.

I only have an answer for one lol. It’s fairly reasonable to say that The Answer took place before Pink’s shattering for 3 reasons: 1) Garnet herself stated that Blue Diamond came to Earth to get rid of a “small persistent group of rebels”. The Crystal Gems were not a large and formidable force yet. 2) Garnet is considered one of the original Crystal Gems; if she didn’t come into the picture until after Pink was shattered, why do we have that flashback image of Garnet and the others facing off against Pink in Gemcation? 3) Garnet’s form had changed drastically between her first appearance and the Diamond attack, which happened almost immediately after Pink was shattered, as we saw in Your Mother and Mine.
longtail4711 to answer some questions we know the kindergarten was pinks because there are lines next to or under the diamond and the ones the off colors are in indicates it was pinks. And we know the answer took place before pinks shattering because in a flashback we never got to fully see described by garnet she was with other crystal gems fighting pink diamond.

1. The Rubies, whom one would expect to belong to Pink Diamond, have no diamond insignia at all (unlike Sapphire, through the arrangement of her costume).
2. Although Earth was described by both Eyeball and Blue Diamond as belonging to Pink Diamond, the last is nowhere to be seen. Why is Blue Diamond alone conducting the primary effort to suppress the rebellion, unless Pink was no longer in the picture and Blue had "inherited" Earth?
Not merely what Rose said in the Rose's Scabbard hologram, but what she said to Greg in We Need to Talk. Rose must have previously told Greg that she was from another world (as Pearl wouldn't talk to Greg at all, Amethyst would have said that she was made on Earth, and Garnet wouldn't have said anything unless Rose gave her permission, and if that's the case Rose is far more likely the one to tell Greg), so he could ask the question "do you ever miss your home planet?" Unlike the possible cases of Garnet and Bismuth, Rose would not have a compelling reason to curry favor, and in consequence embellish or falsify her origin.
Finally, if Rose was made on Earth, why would Amethyst be ashamed of her Earth emergence? How could Pearl voice disgust and horror over the Prime Kindergarten if her beloved Rose Quartz came from there or another place on Earth like it?

I think maybe Garnett is thinking of a timeline when things happened in the way she told the off colors, as in pool hoping she pointed out that onion was in space and not Lars. Being that Rose doesn't care to correct others on mistakes of the story, she just let Garnett think how she wanted to not upset the balance of her upcoming army.
Only problem is that she doesn't see the past as far as we know and that stuff is and for her was always the past. I suppose Sapphire could have seen it, but she was only brought in after the fact.

Remember Sapphire was the main "tell all" for blue diamond specifically at one point, so it wouldn't be off to think that is what she predicted as well as pieced together from the rumors and her actually meeting rose quartz. Herr predictions only are valid when she can calculate how a person feels about something and i think she is going from that.
Peridot's comment that Pearl was "fancy" was a reaction to her appearance, but we already know at that point in the show that that is not Pearl's original form. If her original form was more humble, once she joined the rebellion she easily could have changed her form to look more fancy or high class
I think the reason for pink diamonds being so cold is because she wasn't given command of any colonies before and because she was depicted as a child the first time we saw her so maybe she is attempting to be more like the other diamonds. Resulting in her being cruel

I'm spreading this around because I want to know what people think and I'm hoping someone might make a theory video, animatic, etc on it. So here's my version of Rose's path:
I wanted Rose to have been made on Homeworld, maybe the first gem that Pink Diamond ever made. But unlike normal Quartzes that are made for fighting, Rose Quartz gems were more defensive, partly due to Pinks desire to be protected.
Think about it; Pink Diamond is the youngest gem. She is seen as a child in the eyes of her diamonds and when she created her first gem, the gem came out with maternal instinct. The ability to heal Pink Diamond’s gem if it was to ever get cracked, enhanced reflexes and speed to rush to Pink Diamonds aid if she needed her, a shield and a bubble to protect Pink Diamond from being harmed, and the ability to float and reach things that Pink Diamond couldn’t because of her short stature.
But Rose Quartzes were not actually made for fighting. What active fighting abilities do Rose Quartzes have other than their strength? Rose has her sword but that was given to her by Bismuth.
Rose was originally Pink’s bodyguard/friend/maternal figure and she was the first Rose Quartz to be made. Rose kept Pink safe and out of trouble on Homeworld. Keeping her entertained while Blue and Yellow were busy building colonies. While the other diamonds had Pearls, Pink Diamond only had a Rose Quartz. Rose bonded with White Diamond’s Pearl (our Pearl) who eventually fell in love with her.
Rose was there when Pink asked for her own colony and she was the one to heal Pink’s arm, which Yellow Diamond injured after Pink broke the glass.
And something inside Pink broke too.
Tired of not being taken seriously, Pink tried to prove to Yellow that she could handle her own colony with Rose by her side, watching her struggle. The only person that she could trust, who actually saw her potential.
The only gem to call her “My Diamond,”
Then Pink was given her own planet and her own colony. She and Rose went to earth together. She created Jaspers and Amethysts to help with the colonization, but Rose was still the only Rose Quartz. Pink Diamond was worried that her gems would not respect her, when they saw how small she was, so she stayed in her Palanquin at all times, using Rose as her mouthpiece.
Rose grew fond of the humans on the planet and expressed her concerns to Pink Diamond about the effects the colonizes were having on the planet and the people who lived there. So, Pink invented the human zoo as a place for them to go.
But who would take care of the humans on the zoo?
So, Pink made more Rose Quartzes for the task but kept her Rose separated because she was special.
But Rose wasn’t just concerned about the humans there. She fell in love with the rain, the flowers, and the animals. She fell in love with the way things changed on the planet and the earth adjusted. And the more she spoke out to Pink Diamond, the more the distance grew between them. Then Rose started giving different orders. Ordering gems to help humans, to build, lies that she said came from Pink Diamond.
And when Pink Diamond found out…the betrayal changed something inside of her. She banished Rose back to Homeworld, where she was to work in the zoo with the humans she loved so much. But without Rose, Pink was afraid to show herself. When she confessed her fears to the other Diamonds, Yellow made her limb enhancers to give her the height of the other Diamonds, and a spikey helmet similar to the one Yellow’s so that she would look more frightening. She vowed never to get close to a gem she created again.
And then she went back to earth, a colder, crueler gem, leaving Rose on Homeworld. There Rose reconnected with Pearl and after telling her of her desire to go back, Pearl agreed to help. Pearl helped Rose still a ship, having the knowledge of how to fly one and the two landed on the spot from the Sword and the scabbard. The two had the conversation that Pearl showed Steven. They started the rebellion, Rose recruiting gems with similar feelings on the planet as her.
The rest of the story; the part with Pink Diamond being shattered should have been left out. I wanted to hear that part from Pearl.
But I believe that if Pink and Rose were close, she might have believed Rose was coming to surrender. It would explain why Pink stepped out of the Palanquin, she never believed that her Rose would really hurt her.

Everybody seems to be forgetting. Holly Blue Agate _specifically_ states that the Human Zoo was originally like a prison. The reason it is the way it is now is because in this state, the humans don't fight back. It's a simple case of A happy animal is easyer to take care of then a trapped animal
In fairness to the CG, Steven is like 14; I'd be careful with my words too. Probably the same mindset the other Diamonds had towards Pink Diamond; she's just a kid. PD's first colony was Earth she still needed time to grow and learn to be leader. THE SAME AS STEVEN. Stevonie had an entire dream sequence empathizing PD's situation. The other Diamonds didn't tell PD the full truth about free will or organic life because they didn't feel like she could handle that information on top of her development. THE SAME AS STEVEN. PD, not being equipped to deal with Rose Quarts, allowed a rebellion to occur which ultimately lead to her death. Ramble ramble ramble/ the CG need to stop keeping Steven in the dark; it's unprofessional.
I always figured that Pink Diamond is meant to be a tragic parallel to Steven.
Pink Diamond revived by Steven ÷ the crystal gems blowing up for TRUSTING a DIAMOND × Garnet losing the remaining marbles + comedy gold Rush + Amethyst being WTF is going on - a good day = a recipe for a Steven Universe episode and not to mention, sanity loss.

After watching "A Single Pale Rose," it's crazy to see how everything falls into place.
the only reason Pearl and Rose had that conversation is because Pearl was the only one from Homeworld, and I believe that was the reasoning that and other events as you supposed made her believe Rose told her everything apart from others. SU will end with both positive and negative from both gem sides, with a further explanation of what truly happened and it's future, if CN let it flow.
what bugged me is how the off colors believed so quickly in Garnet, SU so far is really one sided.
That's the thing, when you've hit rock bottom...any light you see is a saving grace. It reminds me of what Jasper says to Steven. Something like: I see what you do, Rose, you go for gems when they're at their lowest. And then you give them hope.
To the off colors, Garnet's story gave them a sense of belonging. Like even if they were different and were shunned by society, they had a place to belong among the Crystal Gems. When you're given something like that, you'd believe anything.
People are social creatures, gems included, who want to belong.
that is true, they really were alone into that pit, and I guess the crew wanted to pass that sense of "politically owning people together to a cause", so Garnet was pretty much giving a propaganda - if that's the right term.

Such as the American Revolution, they don't talk about how close it was to failing in history, few people even know the original white house was burned or that the first place for it wasn't even Washington D.C. So I was little confused on how she could fall in love if she didn’t fully understand feelings. I feel that Garnet story isn’t ALL the way accurate. If Rose Quartz lied to the other gems I don’t think she meant to do it to be hurtful or harmful but to help them or to spare them the pain.
I remember an interview with someone who worked on the show who sayid that Rose tried her best to not tell or interest Amethyst about Homeworld culture because she wanted her to be able to grow as a person without a role but wasn’t aware and never suspected she might have made Amethyst have a confidence issue about herself from not knowing about her home culture. Plus there was that Bismuth matter where she hid her for a thousand years without telling anyone even after the war.
It’s like Shakespeare said, “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.” And obviously who or whatever Rose’s real backstory is, it’s clear with her actions throughout the show.
Could it be perhaps the show writers stepped on there own toes and dug themselves into a huge plot hole(s)?

My theory is that ruby was part of pink or yellow diamonds court because blue diamond said "how dare you fuse with a member of my court"

Or perhaps ruby is seen as a solider or lower ranking gem whilst Sapphire is a higher ranking gem for her ability to see into the future. Sapphire is apart of her court due to her useful ability whilst Ruby is apart of her army or guard or labour force due to having brute strength and durability.
Rose was probably created to help Pink Diamond to terraform the Earth. Her plant control powers would have been very useful. Maybe other Rose Quartzes controlled diiferent lifeforms.

Man all these theories seem to be pointing to Rose being evil or having some form of sinister motive. I am certain if secrets were kept even from her most trusted allies, they were kept for good reason, not out of some sinister plot she likely never got to finish. Her giving herself up so Steven could exist, proves she is not some monster.
I definitely feel there is more to Rose, but I don't feel it is of something evil or heinous, I feel there may have been something between Rose and Pink Diamond, there has to be some deeper connection between the two, as I feel Pink Diamond is the only gem that could have allowed Rose to even gain the power she did. I just don't see a regular Quartz solider, rallying against a diamond, without ever loyal gem to the diamond, rallying up to have her taken to be shattered. And I don't feel any diamond would have been forgiving enough to allow a gem under their command, to run around riling up other gems with attempts to overthrow their hierarchy. I mean, had Rose been a part of Yellow Diamonds court, she would have been shattered the second Yellow Diamond found out she was defying her orders. And I still believe, that there is no way Rose was strong enough to shatter Pink Diamonds physical form, let alone her gemstone, despite how much tinier she was compared to the other diamonds. I feel that whatever happened, it was orchestrated by Pink Diamond and Rose. Their had to have been some form of partnership between the two, its the only way, that Rose could have even taken out Pink Diamond with little to no witnesses.

Rose made pearl unable to speak or one of the diamonds put pearl as a spy and rose kept her extremely close so she couldn't betray them, but she wasn't a spy and now rose feels bad for doing all that to poor pearl. That's the nature of their relationship we can't see yet

Alright, why would Rose Quartz lie about her history to Garnet?
Possible reasons: Garnet, unlike Pearl, Bismuth and perhaps others of her command group, may actually be the least dedicated to Rose Quartz personally, and perhaps to the secondary goals of the Crystal Gem movement (i.e. the political side rather than the eco-protective side, which Garnet believes in according to the Answer's flashback). Garnet's first loyalty will always be to Ruby's and Sapphire's opposite partner, and indeed was willing to ally herself with Rose primarily because of her stated tolerance for fusion. Rose knew Pearl and Bismuth before the rebellion, but not Sapphire nor Ruby. It could be that Rose, a short time after getting to know Garnet, learned of Ruby's and Sapphire's preferred ideal of a leader--or at least as important, what kind of background they didn't want in their leader--and Rose, recognizing the great value in having a Sapphire on her team to counter the efforts of the others serving the Diamonds, invented a personal history that would best please Garnet's components. Call me biased, but if this turned out to be the case I'd expect that the false story was intended mostly to placate Ruby rather than Sapphire, because while Sapphire has the capacity to make value judgments and to compromise, Ruby is far-too easily triggered about relatively minor things and doesn't think strategically.
This could have been the case with Bismuth as well, assuming that she also believes that Rose was made on Earth and not merely made a clumsy metaphor. Bismuth is unfortunately just as class-conscious and bigoted as the Diamonds, and might have made clear her disgust at serving "uppercrusts from Homeworld". If Rose was actually one of those "uppercrusts" she might have provided herself with a plebian Earth origin to gain Bismuth's favor.
I completely agree with this, and I think if Rose lied about being made on Earth then it was to win the favor of gems disgusted by the Homeworld hierarchy, as you inferred.
Another thing I've noticed is that Rose would have referred to Earth more as home in her flashback sequences (not left it ambiguous as it now may seem), like how Amethyst says she will fight for Earth because it's where she was made. Amethyst also has said Earth is her home. I know this could just be how Amethyst feels instead of it being a widespread concept for Gems to consider a planet they were made on as home. It's too bad Steven can't meet gems made on another planet that's not Homeworld. Although, if it's in the makeup of a Gem to call Homeworld home, then it doesn't explain why Amethyst hasn't done that, unless her isolation in the Prime Kindergarten interfered with that process.
I also don't think we ( general we) should discount the conversation between Rose and Pearl in Rose's Scabbard as being a mistake. It was intimate, and Rose let down her guard a little, showing Pearl her emotions of not being able to return to Homeworld. I don't think her saying, "We can never go home." meant Earth in this light. She wouldn't be leaving the planet, and I highly doubt she meant a specific spot that they could no longer visit. If they won, then they could go anywhere on Earth anytime they wanted. And also, if Rose does mean a Homeworld she wasn't made on, then why would she look as sad as she did when saying they wouldn't be able to go home? Rose could've visited Homeworld, but based off of Amethyst's and the other Amethyst's reactions, they don't seem to be missing Homeworld anytime soon. Lapis visited Earth but didn't have an attachment to it; I would assume Rose visiting Homeworld would place her in awe and reverie but what more connection could she feel beyond this?
I wish we had other Gem reactions to their Kindergartens to see if a place of origin holds special meaning to all Gems or if it's just our Amethyst.
And now that we know the truth, we know that gems who are different would much rather follow a rose quartz Who is also different yet found the strength and power within herself to rise up and free a home that is also different and that welcomes those like them then they would a pink diamond who “ got overly attached to her colony” who was clearly born with her strength and power and pretty much ( in the eyes of most) started a civil war to protect it instead of a rebellion and just drafted a bunch of oblivious soldiers under the guise they were rebels fighting against the whole diamond tyrannical force...

Theory- Pearl was shapeshifted into a sword and was used to shatter Pink D, Eyeball has been proven to be fooled by color discrepancies, so her account and Bismuth's statement can be both valid.
Garnet would have no way of knowing that unless Rose or Pearl told her.
Rose saying they couldn't go home could mean they couldn't come back to Homeworld society. Like home means the structured, rubber stamp-ish lifestyle of following orders and knowing your stake in the universe as a soldier, well... something to that regards.

Well, the CG's think they _won_ the war and that Rose was some kind of saint. That alone is enough to raise a few red flags. Neither side seems to have the full set of facts and are acting on here say at best.
Pearl is the only one who was there the longest with Rose during the rebellion and may be the only one who knows more about what actually happened, which is most likely why Sugar is gagging her.
I would also venture the suggestion that Rose probably was a homeworld gem and that she merely oversaw Earth's kindergarden. It just doesn't make sense for her to be an Earth world gem because then it would mean that she lost nothing by rebelling.

If all Pink cared about was preserving humans as trophies, she wouldn't have gone through the lengths that she did go through to make sure that they're this happy and comfortable and that everything is perfect to make them _happy._ I personally still... kind of trust Rose. I do believe she did questionable things at that not every part of her story may be pretty, like that we haven't seen yet. But that doesn't mean I think she was a thoroughly terrible person.

In the insignia, you can see that Pink Diamond's diamond is also the lowest. Since the line is under this diamond, it means that this kindergarten indeed belonged to Pink Diamond. Hope this helped!

Most likely scenario, Pink Diamond WANTED TO LOSE. Everything about her cruelty was a facade to make her appear as a typical tyrant/model Diamond in Garnets story. In reality, she probably loved organic life as much as Rose. Pink devised a plan to remove herself from her position and either partnered with or used Rose as a means to an end. After being defeated, Rose cries on Pink, who shape-shifts into Lion. The Earth and it’s organic lives are saved “thanks” to Rose, Pink is no longer a Diamond, but it’s a very ugly story. Rose & Pearl sacrificed the Crystal Gems, apart from Garnet, to save Earth from the Diamonds. That’s what I think, anyway.
