I'm so glad they're finally developing GARNET. Fusions are their own beings, and for the longest time she never felt like her own character. It was honestly a waste of Etelle's talent.

Eh, Garnet always been different from Rube and Saph enough for me to consider her a seperate character.
Almond Joy She's her own character, she just hasn't had character development because in every major event she almost always unfuses. And whenever there's a "Garnet episode" its always about ruby and sapphires relationship within garnet.

I’ve loved all the Garnet development, I felt she has been a bit neglected too. There was a joke at the end of Pool Hopping I think most people missed, when she named her new one eyed kitty. She named it Cat Steven. There used to be a folk singer in the 70s named Cat Stevens. I wonder if Rebecca Sugar is a fan.

I think that to fuse with Steven the gems may have to see him as an equal. Amethyst has always been more on Steven's level, and now that Garnet has acknowledged that he has grown up it may be possible. Pearl probably still sees him as a child so I don't see that fusion being possible for a while.

I definitely agree with this! Until Pearl is able to open up to him and treat him as an equal, they're unlikely to fuse.
I think it's also an aspect of loving and understanding or wanting to love and understand each other better in an intense way too, like the accidental fusion of Ruby and Sapphire.

Yep, this is what all of those Garnet centered episodes are all about.
A possible Garnet/Steven fusion is exactly the reason I don't consider these episodes to be "filler". By the same logic, these episodes also open the possibility for a Sadie/Steven fusion. Never count a Steven Universe episode as "just filler"- they usually form reference points for later, more plot heavy, episodes.

I'd love a Steven and garnet fusion. Should gauntlets. Like blades on the side of garnets gauntlets made of Stevens shield would be awesome. Daniël van Es Single gems can be made as fusions though. Garnet is a fusion, Hessonite is a singular Garnet. I don't think a Gems individual rank has to do with the possibility of them being made as a fusion between 2 or more gems but I still doubt Emerald is what Garnet + Steven make tbh

In that sentence he was referring to when Rebecca Sugar accidentally said that there would be a new version of Rainbow Quartz, so it wouldn't really make a lot of sense to have him refer to the fusion between Steven (A rose Quartz) and pearl as smokey quartz 2.0, though I can see how that could make sense. It's just that given the context makes it more likely that he ment Rainbow Quartz 2.0

I think they have already fused once as Stevonnie and Garnet. In mindful education there is a clear spot where you can hear Steven, Connie, Garnet and Stevonnie all sing together with a fifth voice that's very quiet. I think that episode was a fusion episode but hidden from the fans. Because that fusion can't be revealed yet because it's very powerful. Maybe if all the crystal gems fuse with Stevonnie it could possibility equel the power of one of the diamonds

Rose Quartz strung Pearl along. Fooling around with human men while returning to Pearl regularly when she was done. This would screw up anybody's mindset and it would take a long time to recover from such manipulation.
I think Pearl didn't have an actual romantic relationship with Rose. She just couldn't own up and admit to her feelings, and Rose just didn't reciprocate anyway. So Rose seeing human men isn't bad or manipulative. She didn't owe Pearl anything just because Pearl liked her. It's like in real life. If someone has a crush on you, do you feel like you have an obligation to date them, even if you don't like them that way? Of course not.

C'mon drop Rose would have to be an idiot and callous not to notice Pearl's feelings. Pearl is a very useful Gem. By manipulating Pearl's feelings Rose is assuring Pearl's loyalty for centuries.
Claire Mercer To be fair, Rose didn't really understand the difference between "loving someone/having love for someone" and being "*in* love with someone". Sure, she loved Pearl like a comrade and a friend, they were close- but only until she met Greg over 5000 years later did she develop feelings for true love and actually learn of it through Greg. When it came to Pearl, to her it was just nature to express her love for her. Rose loved to play and she loved to have fun, so she probably just assumed it was something along that nature.
Rose probably did take notice of her feelings, but either didnt reciprocate them the way Pearl wanted or she just didnt understand enough of their true meanings. She spent many of her years fighting and trying to understand many feelings and emotions other people go through and experience.
Cherry quartz?
I love the bit in Pool Hopping where Steven raises his shield above Garnet and the kittens, directly mirroring Rose at the end of the flashback in Your Mother And Mine. It feels to me like that was the point when Garnet realised that Steven was ready to assume Rose's mantle. It wasn't just his decisive action, but his compassion and sense of responsibility to others that the shield represented, that convinced her it was time to step back and let him take the lead.
I can't wait for the new episode of steven universe and I'm psyched about it

I loved seeing Garnet's vulnerability at the end of "Pool Hopping." You could say they were letting their Ruby show.
I just noticed that on rainbow quartz's belly button there is a half star, half diamond. I theorize that this means the star represents rose, and the diamond represents the fact that Pearl is still connected to Homeworld in some way.

Tbh, I'm waiting for that Lapis/Peridot fusion!! Or Peridot fusing at all! Especially after that "attempted" fusion with Garnet. It's probably going to take some time for her warm up to the idea, but I'm excited for the payoff. I'd be just as thrilled for a Steven/Garnet fusion too, though. I wonder what gem they'd become.
she didnt unfuse in a long time cause baby steven cried when she did that or lets say she never did that around the others :D now she knows that its no problem anymore, so no wonder why it happens more often :) i mean we saw how she tried to get away from pearl when she was furious with her, she knew that her fusion wouldnt be stable enough, i bet she did that more often in the past xD i really really hope that garnet is next up, we already know that pearl and steven will equal rainbow quartz, even tho the fusion will look a bit different xD
If you also think of this episode and the previous one, what if Steven and Garnet's fusion causes a sort of spark between Rose's memories and Garnet's memories of the war and it clashes with Garnet's future vision? (Just speculating)

i can see it now i can see garnet and Steven fighting something and Garnet almost losing a fight and then thinking to herself because she seems to do that and will make her start to unfusion and steven like running up to her given her a big hug saying i look up to you and we can do this ! and a huge like light appear and they become a fusion to beat something idk i can feel it because there was a lot of times were Garnet almost unfuse because she was not sure about something
this is a very interesting idea! it'd make sense for Garnet to fuse with Steven first. and given past instances of peridot being refered to as not wanting to fuse, that would put her off the list. Lapis would be cool, but she has had issues with fusion for a long time, so Garnet seems like a good idea
