can you tell me how to use another partition besides the main partition, namely C. I'm having a really hard time because my main partition is very small compared to the other partitions. Thank you
Yes, if you are using flatpak then you can grab a app called flatseal, then select the flatpak you want to edit, scroll down to the file system, then select add other which then you type the directory you want that flatpak to see So for me my drives are mounted in /games so i type /games, restart the flatpak app then when you open the wine selection for installing the game it should be able to see that path Also your drives shouldnt be mounted in mnt, if they are please remount them with a app like kde partiton manager or gnomes disk manager and use uuid for the mount also You can also watch my latest video for zenless where i talk about mounting and letting flatpak access the drives properly

can you tell me how to use another partition besides the main partition, namely C. I'm having a really hard time because my main partition is very small compared to the other partitions. Thank you
Yes, if you are using flatpak then you can grab a app called flatseal, then select the flatpak you want to edit, scroll down to the file system, then select add other which then you type the directory you want that flatpak to see
So for me my drives are mounted in /games so i type /games, restart the flatpak app then when you open the wine selection for installing the game it should be able to see that path
Also your drives shouldnt be mounted in mnt, if they are please remount them with a app like kde partiton manager or gnomes disk manager and use uuid for the mount also
You can also watch my latest video for zenless where i talk about mounting and letting flatpak access the drives properly

Your laptop is very old and can not run the game.
Your channel is a blessing. I was thinking of moving back to Debian, as I used to have such a lovely experience on vanilla GNOME. But I got invested on Genshin and it was dragging me back to Windows. I'll comment here again when I finally set Debian up again.
Finally ended up running Nobara, the quality of life fixes are too god to forgo. Also, great channel. I'll check more of your videos
Im using Nix, and after doing everything, i started the game and just a moment after it stopped. I guess its time for a quick reboot, that might solve the problem.
id suggest using an anime game launcher instead ngl, probs the best to play genshin these days

they also have a nix os package :)
How do you update the game when new patches come out? Just go back to heroic and will it update from there??
Yes heroic is able to do that, genshin would also have its own update in the launcher itself, heroic and epic games are just the frontend for the actual launcher
Can you help. I installed genshin downloader from its website then used heroic launcher to run the installer. Then to run the game i searched it's executable file from the which is in heroic folder and it runs but will it lead to ban??

I've had genshin installed on windows already but I put linux on dual boot with windows... I use linux more often and I want to run genshin on it.. could I use the file/data of genshin from windows which already exists , it s like moving the folder to linux.. is it possible to do so? Bc it takes too long for me to redownload it ,my internet is kinda terrible with downloading big sized datas
Yes you can move it across, you should be able to start the download and then find the directory of where it created the genshin folder and then just replace it. If you use heroic flatpak it will be in hidden files, .var/app
worked for me without moving any files from old location by just selecting initial installation path of game within genshin launcher. keep in mind that first launch can take a while with occasional freezes (minutes long even). but after getting into game everything works as intended so, godspeed

Do you know if there is a way to play valorant? on mine its popping on a message that I have unsupported system or something like that.
Valorant is not supported because of the anticheat they use. I don't think it will ever get supported until Linux has a high enough market share but until then it just won't work sadly

I would try using an anime game launcher if you still have those issues

For me I think I had those issues but I was able to circumvent the issue by signing in differently
But an anime game launcher is an amazing launcher for playing genshin and they also have a honkai launch called honkers launcher lol
For installing an anime game launcher through flatpak
flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo

@@linuxnext well the think idk why it doesn't want to work. I get so many errors, like when I click the download wine button I get: "fail to list downloaded wine versions"

@@DavidOsbern either one will work, you can add it as a non steam and then use experimental, run the setup and then add the .exe for wuthering waves if it created another one which will be in the wine prefix that steam created in compatdata
Or you can use heroic or bottles or lutris any of them will work as they all use the same proton runner
in the description; do you mean, i could get banned from EPIC or from Genshin Impact?
It is possible to get banned from genshin but it's been over a year now since they allowed Linux players to enter the game without any workarounds, so play it at your own risk
@@linuxnext thank you.
I had some problems with Genshin Impact on the Steam deck. Anways, I tried to uninstall everything by running the uninstall.exe in one of the folders. After that I deleted the empty folders. Trough the search rn I just get the Genshin Impact files by Heroic and on my installation file. I also installed Genshin Impact on the same location as you did, because I got the same error code with the "not enough space. So my main question is, if it's pretty safe to say that I deleted every useless file/data from old paths?
I also deleted two empty ones in the heroic files, both called "Genshin Impact game" which prob. meant to be installed there (which won't work tho)
I would try an anime game launcher
github.com/an-anime-team/an-anime-game-launcher
For flatpak installation
flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists --system launcher.moe gol.launcher.moe/gol.launcher.moe.flatpakrepo
flatpak install launcher.moe moe.launcher.an-anime-game-launcher
This has successfully worked on desktop multiple times now for me
@@linuxnext Would be awesome if you would drop a tutorial for it. Btw how did you managed to get the correct controls with the heroic launcher? Everything beside keyboard controls won’t work for my Steam deck.
My guess would be to add league as a steam game from heroic then hop back into normal steam deck mode. That's usually how you get the controls to work for the steam deck but if it doesn't work then It doesn't work 🤷
is it safe to play i mean any ban issues ?
There have been no ban issued in over close to 2 years now, what server do you play on?
@ EU server
@okanakiii then you are all goods, Asia server is the only one you can't play on for some reason right now

does this work on honkai star rail?
There is a special launcher for honkai, if you search just honkers launcher you can find it, but warning you can get banned as the team uses workarounds to get past the anticheat so if you get banned it is not my fault lol
But i have tried it and it does work rlly well
how interesting, i am really thinking of switching to linux (once i can buy new, supported hardware), and if genshin impact was not playable on linux, that would've been a deal breaker for me

Im very sorry for replying so late holy, did you give it permission to see the drive? You can use flatseal to give the flatpak app the permission to see the mount of the drive, make sure its mounted also under a path like /name not /mnt
Does it come with the anticheat?
Yes
how the heck do you type in-game tho? can't login at all D:
Logging in would require the browser im pretty sure
Does it also work on ZorinOs?
Zorin uses flatpak so yes

Yeah that should work, its literally a windows prefix in wine so that stuff should work fine with proton
Just make sure your using ext4 and btrfs as your filesystem aswell
Bro how to resize the partition in this
if you want to resize paritions then either use gparted or gnome disks
I want to try this, but I have never used linux before, Should I use pop os or can I use regular ubuntu?
pop os because heroic games launcher is preferably best in flatpak, ubuntu uses snaps and thats a bad package manager lol.
you can easily get heroic from the pop shop where as with ubuntu you would need to add a repo to ubuntu and then do sudo apt install heroic games launcher while on pop os its one click install from the pop shop thanks to flatpak/flathub
if you dont know what flatpak or snaps is dont worry its pretty easy to understand
flatpak and snap are both containerized package managers meaning they have separate dependencies in them so they don't interfere with your main operating system. which also means the apps wont break at all, flatpak is the gold standard now for software managers while snaps is for one half proprietary and isn't rlly that popular vs flatpak.
if you wanna look at apps from your browser you can go here
flathub.org/
Thanks for replying, I almost installed ubuntu.. 😁👍

does it makes fps drop?
No? Wdym by this?
On my amd card I have the graphics pipeline enabled by default so I don't get any stutters and so my fps doesn't get lower or become jittery with the frame times.
On Nvidia tho this could be different, it doesn't have the graphics pipeline enabled on the stable drivers and I haven't done any testing on my Nvidia rtx 2060 machine.
In terms of translation layers well it's actually better to translate it through dxvk/vulkan as vulkan usually has lots of extensions for things that make the performance either a lot better or more stable then the native API that is used on windows
