To me the steelies are the biggest giveaway. Put some of the ford interceptor hubcaps and it'll be a bit harder to spot from a distance, but for anyone good at spotting unmarked cars it won't be hard to spot once you get closer.
Not at all a "undercover" vehicle but rather a unmarked more like a detective vehicle or specialty unit such as narc or gang squad . The wheels and the side mount cannons and mini antennae scream 5-0 lol, great build though!! 👊🏼
mtr71875 actually the antenna would do fine on a explorer sense it's so high up now a Taurus would have a problem hiding the antennas, now if anything I would have stuck the cannons where the ions are and the ions in the side hatch windows for more side coverage. It's actually a pretty good set up.
cannons on the side are usually done to Tauruses cause there's a spot specifically for them normally people just stick dash lights in the side hatch windows and hideaways in the headlight area where Ford cut a spot for them. Wigwags would have help also.
Back in the late 80's and early 90's, I use to wire police vehicles and did a lot of FD-volly vehicles, too. Lately, I have been missing that and considering getting back into it; maybe more for service than new installs. How far from Lancaster County are you guys? We come down there once or twice a year and I would love to check out your place.
I know someone who actually went the other way, from column back to floor, he said it wasn't any great challenge. I imagine it would be the same for you.
That would be one heck of a job. If are Dead set on a column shifter then you need to buy a police package explorer. There is really no way to go the other way without changing most of the vehicle.

If the US PDs were smart they would have gone with a Motorola APX P25 radio with the 03 control head allowing the main radio unit to be mounted under the seat or in the rear of the vehicle. It would have kept the center console operational. Also being a digital radio it would be secure and provide better coverage.
No wig wags? Those babies move traffic like nothing else.
that side cannon... huge give away. could of probably done something inside the vehicle.

Those silver wheel covers are just as easy to spot, since the base-model Explorer steel wheels w/ wheel covers are quite rare around my area.

mtr71875 check my channel to see a real undercover
3:16 that voice crack 😂
Would've set it off to have a couple grille lights with yall's tint set deep in the grille
bprice1892 eh, a headlight flasher and some 200 sticks in the cargo compartment windows instead of the side cannon and it'd be perfect.
The tires give away the look for a undercover police unit so it's easy to notice
Tires? I doubt people would notice the common-police Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires first, but rather those black steel wheels.
And I doubt you'd notice either the wheels or tires when you're on the road, in front or behind the vehicle.
AWDfreak 100%
I do love the brown color of the vehicle definatly something different.
What a beautiful color!!!!! Omg!

Needs grill lighting. Heinously protruding Cannon throws UC out the window too.

Found my answer, about an hour; I'll have to see if I can convince my wife of the drive. Or, maybe just end up there "on accident."
Umm you got that backwards - the 40degree punches through tint better....the 120 is for better off axis
Cordell is adorable!
@911apidresponse do you have a link to that cancel? Our police chief is getting a new explorer next month and I'd love to show it to him.
hi, do you know how to change floor shifter to column shifter for a 2012-2018 civilien ford explorer? and is it very complicated? thanks.

NICE!
Thats bad ass
I dont really like the "cannon" on the sides of the vehicle.

if you have ever seen a police intercepted utility before this you will spot immediately that its a cop car😂
Cordell is that a gun? you naughty boy!
osnapitzjamie yep for the life of me I don't get the open carry thing ... Why ?
wouldn't consider that open carry
it depends on the laws where they are tho
Kallus Rourke Well they are on private property so they can holster their weapons however they want.
Kallus Rourke maybe there shop is located in the hood , lol they are in PA right ?? Maybe some Amish thugs have tried to rob the shop before ?? Idk 😐
if i see interceptor wheels and the cannon ill know instantly its a cop
Your shirt is to tight bud.
Man fuck this bullshit ass suv they should of never stopped making the crown Vic
That's just not a stealth car easy to spot
