While my deputy chief's truck was in the shop getting upfitted he ended up getting the demo as a loaner. Talk about craziness! Got to use it on a couple of calls and it was awesome. He particularly liked the steady flash and the ability to dim at night, though he still found it a bit to bright lol. We all loved it as well and found an excuse to "move it"
Didn't have any of these fancy lights during my police years. My slick top had a red/Blue rotator on the dash and wig wag headlights. Our jeep had the Vector warning lights and that was it.
I never understood crossovers until a cop explained it to me: "A crossover is a wagon that looks like an SUV and is therefore cooler." Considering how heavily wagons are used overseas for police work the PIU's sales numbers made a lot more sense once I was told that. Great job from whelen and pro-gard (I do like pro-gard's slick shield setup a lot), look forward to more demonstrator vehicles being paraded around the sirennet facility :)
Fairhaven City Police Department have same cars but it uses an Whelen Legacy Duo 2 Lightbar and also an Federal Signal Unitrol Smart Siren SSP3000 siren and also uses all these parts on the brand new Taurus Interceptors and the Interceptor Utility SUV's
Do you think a used AWD Ford Explore interceptor is good vehicle to get for personal vehicle for volunteer fire fighter or a used AWD Ford Taurus Police interceptor?
Our police chief in Goreville ILL is wanting to get a new 4by4 for the winter and he's thinking either a pickup truck or one of these explorers (depending on which he can afford and such) so I am wondering in your opinion which is better for a unmarked patrol unit (especially for the winter when it snows a lot) the Ford F-150 pickup or the explorer? And for the pickup which is a better design for unmarked, one with the camper and lights in the camper or one with a bed cover or just have the bed open?
Hi Brandon... Our preference would be the F-150 with a camper. Solid 4x4 capability and room to carry a lot of gear safely and most importantly- dry and out of the snow and ice.
SIRENNET ok thanks any setup ideas for it? also i was wondering does the federal signal smart siren have an option where you can have hi-lo and hyperyelp or is it just a hyperyelp siren? also i was wondering if there was away to add the untra hi-lo from the touchmaster delta or the thunder siren to the smart siren sense its programable?
Hi Brandon... The Federal Signal SSP2000 and SSP3000 offer the standard hi/low tone as well as the Unitrol tones such as: Futura, Hi/Low, Ultra Hi/Low and Hetro. If you'd like to take a look over everything these Controllers offer and can be set-up to do, please read through the full Data Sheet here: www.fedsig.com/sites/default/files/resource_documents/M2052%20SmartSiren%20Platinum%20LR_0.pdf
What lighting spots should be key when for a public works 2013 ford interceptor utility. I do emergency communications for my county, but since it's not through the PD or FD I am restricted to Amber/White lighting. Also, due to recent times, I would find it more advantageous to have hideaway lights to look less like law enforcement. Any recommendations, tips, or tricks?
Key locations for adding Lighting; front grille, front side fenders, rearview mirrors, side third window, rear upper hatch, mid-hatch/license plate area. In our opinion an overhead lighting bar helps provide the most lighting but if you'd like to stay with a discrete look, you'll definitely want to go with a 2-piece interior bar and something about the width of the rear hatch for brighter warning and traffic directing (if there's the need).
Damn, what Police Department is going to buy that beauty? and how much battery does those lights consume? I mean look at how bright they are! they have to have an effect on the battery!
When the Utility is On and idling, the Electrical System can support the Lighting, Control and Radios/ MDT without an issue. If the Rig were shut-off, the Radios and Computer will drawn more then the LED Warning System. It is a lot of Lighting, so the battery won't last hours without a restart. To get around this and keep from having a completely dead battery, a Module like the Havis Charge Guard is idea to use.
The Wig-Wag function is running through this module from Whelen Engineering. sirennet.com/store/product/whelen-2016-ford-interceptor-utility-headlight-flasher
Those ions on the pushbumper are impressive output

BEAUTIFUL AS ALWAYS!!
So clean and neat! No wires no mess
I'll take it!
Thank You :)
Amazing car, I love the lights on the bumper for illumination, but next time, could you guys include outer edge lighting on the rear of the vehicle
The next time one visits with an Outer Edge, we'll try and put together an overview.
That’s some nice flash patterns and lights! Nice job!
Take it away Chris!
Chris: ok. (Gets in and drives away)
...uh...
Excellent demonstration Chris!
Thank You... That's great to hear :)
This demo SUV is WAY nicer then your last one!!!!
Thanks for watching.

Does anyone know how companies go about naming product models? All the letters and numbers seem nonsensical

SIRENNET That makes total sense! Thanks for informing me!
I ordered from your website
How much Whelen led red and blue small bar
SIRENNET, which controller did that vehicle use? How did they flash the m2's and then run them on steady burn?
It's using Whelen Engineering's Cantrol system. The lighting wires directly to the main control unit and the settings are programmed from there.
anybody having issues with fleet utility with exhaust manifold getting damaged with dips and pot holes?
Just "wow" like Chris said! Lol
Hi, is setina partitions also fit FORD EXPLORER? or should I change some parts to fit partitions?
The Explorer and Utility differ on the partitions. You'll need to use the correct version otherwise the fit will be off.
is the when ion in the push bumper the same as the ones in the rear windows. the front ones look like TIR and the rear looks like linear?
The single color ION's use the TIR lens while the DUO and TRIO use a linear diffuser over the diodes with a non-optic lens.
Curious, do you "upgrade" the alternators on the cars that you upfit?
Not very often. So long as power managements done correctly, everything should work safely.
Hi, how to make the front halogen headlight to wigwag?
The Wig-Wag function is running through this module from Whelen Engineering.

Do they make them for 2006 Ford Mustang ?
Not out of the package. You'd need to get the Dremel out and do some trimming and shaving of the wedges.

We're glad you liked it :)
Where Cani buy one
These do cycle through for new Demo platforms every few years :)
Why Do Police Cars Have Firearm Mounts
They commonly carry either an AR and/or shotgun. These keep them secured.
Too many lights but still a very nice car
Demonstrators Vehicles are often set up with a lot of options/Products :)
The FedSig demo Interceptor is nicer.
Very god
