Actually, he wasn't. That is just what the bad writers at Disney want everyone to believe. They couldn't come up with a decent storyline so episodes 7-9 are basic mirrors of episodes 4-6, but the characters are older.
If there's one thing everyone can agree on that the prequels did perfect it's definitely the score, each ending track for Episode 1, 2 and 3 gave me chills, Mr Williams is certainly the messiah of the Star Wars franchise.
After all the criticism and bashing the Phantom Menace has received over the years, I feel everyone now can agree that although not on par with the original trilogy, the film as well as episode 2 and 3 still feels like 'Star Wars' and this ending certainly encapsulates that feeling way more than any of the Sequel trilogy endings.
Compare the vocal part at the start of this one with the bit from episode 6 when Palpatine used force lightning on Luke. The rhythm and the keys are changed, but they are from the same root.
This film had many problems, but added a lot to the Star Wars mythos. Darth Maul, the performances by Liam Neeson and Ian McDiarmid, the lightsaber duel, the portrayal of Coruscant, and of course the music were all superb. The new films have also had their fair share of errors, but they have failed to add a single element of creativity or enjoyment to the saga.
Ewan McGregor was incredible as young Obi-Wan Kenobi, not just in this film but in all three of the prequels. I actually think his performance is better than Alec Guinness who was already great in the role. Of course he had more to do in this trilogy than Guinness did, but he had some big shoes to fill and filled them well, making the character his own.
@@finnmarr-heenan2397 thats not milking nostalgia. milking would just make the originals duller. it actively damages them. it ruins everything, while copying. if you want a successful attempt at milking nostalgia, try DmC 5. the Prequels were unique and an incredible cultural value in themselves, not recreating lightning in a bottle. its a different lightning but it struck even harder.
A bit late, but it’s purified Naboo plasma, which is what the Theed Palace generator complex refined. It’s one of the major exports of Naboo, since it didn’t have a molten core, just plasma and water.
"And so, Anakin Skywalker's descent to the Dark Side begins with the sinister Palpatine pulling the strings. But for now, a celebration takes place on the Naboo, with Queen Amidala, Padme, Jar Jar Binks and Obi-Wan Kenobi joining Palpatine and Boss Nass in the festivities, but the war is far from over, as the journey continues……"

i love this film. honestly. its become more of my favourite now ive found out this victory theme is just darth sidious theme but happier, implying it may have looked like a victory for naboo, but in reality its palpatines victory to come one step closer to wiping out the jedi and forming the empire. sadly the sequels just kinda ruin all that.

Well, the tune is Palpatine's theme sped down and more upbeat, so that might've something to do with it. Also, those weird horns or whatever sound pretty "alien" to me, at least.
The whole ending scene is kind of dark and creepy if you think about it. It's presented as this great victory, but in reality the emperor's plans have been set in motion and the galaxy is about to get screwed over.
OMFG MY FAVOURITE STAR WARS 1 SONG!!!! :D This is the best song in star wars apart from the part in the pod race where Anakin's pod racer gets f***ed up

That’s actually really creepy. Palpatine has been pulling the strings the whole time.
