Throughout three movies, Captain Spaulding only kills two people. And even then, they were trying to rob his gas station. So yeah, Least evil character by far.

James I know he’d probably be difficult to get, but I wanna see you and rob zombie in a room just talking straight horror. When it comes to horror the guy seems to really know his stuff almost as much as you do.

All co-hosted movie reviews should be done with Kieran. He says interesting shit and actually lets James talk. I feel like this is an actual conversation. Great vid.
I thought Sheriff Wydell in the devil's rejects was the perfect opponent for the fireflies. I was hoping 3 From Hell would elaborate more on maybe why they are how they are and expand more on Baby's character. I guess it did enough but not as much as I wanted.
The weirdest thing is I love Wydell torturing them and I have come across more people that hated him for that and I'm like "We just saw two movies where they did worse to other people, but THIS is what you have a problem with?" I bet if Wydell was a supporting character in The Punisher, people would be all over him.
"I just wanted them to die. Horrible horrible people" You have to argue against serial killers when watching a rob zombie film. Like that's going against the grain lol
@GamebroTV I believe what he was trying to say is that the movie makes you think in a way that: If you "enjoy" watching the serial killers getting what's coming to them in this brutal manner; then doesn't that mean that you might be just as bad (if not: worse) than the supposed criminals? (at least, that's what I think the film's trying to say). A lot of people nowadays in the real-world even "justify killing" for reasons like "justice" or believe that they're completely in their right to "enact revenge" on those who "wronged them". In a way, that's what makes this film brilliant for me.
I actually didnt think about that, despite watching both movies back to back - it makes So much more sense now, and shows how well you can tell a story without blatant exposition.
I gotta say, I appreciate you adding on the 3 From Hell review on this. Crazy to think what can happen with the passage of time, Sid was easily a standout of the previous two films. Always cool hearing the team talk movies, both from a standpoint of what you liked/didn't like and from a more technical POV. Thanks!
Devil's Rejects is one of my favorites, and I also really like House of 1000 Corpses. 3 From Hell was a decent low budget send off, and I picked it up on UHD. I love these characters.
This was a good discussion... I loved The Devil's Rejects and I am in the same boat as James. But it was interesting to hear someone who had a different reaction/view of this movie.
I liked house of a thousand corpses and devil's rejects even though they were completely different. I was just disappointed with the fact they didn't explain what happened to doctor Satan because that was the most crazy part of both movies for me.
They shot scenes with Dr. Satan for Rejects, but felt such an over the top character did not mesh well with the more serious, grim atmosphere of the film. You can see the cut scenes on the dvd and might be here on youtube.
@Wermhats Wormhat Rob knew Sid's health was too bad to do the whole movie but he wanted get him in the movie just in case it was his last movie (which it was) the film company wouldn't even clear him for what they shot Rob had to sneak him in to the studio
This is a great review because of James and Kieran's different outlooks on it. That's why I want to see a Joker review this year from these guys, maybe even each rental review guy on their own, compiled into one video
I love devils rejects but I do prefer house of 1000 corpses as well, I just love the theatrical elements to it. Devils rejects is really grounded. But corpses I feel like there’s a supernatural element to the family, like doctor satan and his henchmen, it’s like there’s actually demonic beings in the film, not psychopaths, actual demons lol. Devils rejects was great though imo I loved it
House of 1000 corpses is a grindhouse rollercoaster ride, I kind of prefer it too. Rob Zombie should have done a spin-off film about Dr Satan, such a cool monster with so much potential. The Devil's Rejects is one of the most disturbing and disgusting films I've ever watched and I mean that as a compliment, it's pure, unfiltered grindhouse.
Great movie. I was lucky enough to meet Bill Moseley, aka Otis, a few days ago. Really normal down to earth guy, such a far cry from his character on these movies.

I prefer corpses. It’s more of a funhouse ride or extended music video and I enjoy that. I think it fits the almost cartoonish nature of the characters better.
The way I've always reconciled the radically different tones between the two movies is like this: Corpses shows everything through the Firefly family lens - how they see themselves and the world - while Rejects shows how they actually appear. But overall I still kind of prefer the craziness of Corpses.
The most disturbing and horrifying thing about them (at least to me), is that they CANNOT be reasoned with at all. You truly even as a viewer feel helpless for the victims. You can't persuade, bargain, or even escape for that matter. They always catch you also. Terrifying.

I was lucky to see 3 From Hell in the theater. It was worth it and it was gruesome... Though sadly without Haig, it just didn't feel the same. Rip sir.
Sid did have health issues during the filming. Zombie said he had to rewrite the film because of it which is why Sid filmed everything in one day and Zombie stated after the passing that he knew it would be Sid’s last film.
I wish he had just included his thoughts on 1000 Corpses, I love that movie and clearly he doesn't but I would like to hear what he thinks of it & why.
I mean, not really, it's just why it's a murder road trip instead of another murder house movie, they killed and tortured just to kill and torture, that's just who they are.
Sid Haig was going to be in more of 3 from Hell but his poor health fucked everything up. Rob Zombie no joke had to rewrite the whole movie and invent the character Foxy Coltrane. They actually had to sneak Sid in to film his scene and Sid himself said that 3 from Hell will be his final movie.
Sid Haig only having a shortened presence in 3 From Hell really crippled it. Zombie should have made it five years ago instead of sitting on it so long
"The Guy" with Baby is Geoffrey Lewis. Famous character actor with probably more credits to his name than most in this movies cast. He worked with Clint Eastwood and Robert Redford on multiple occasions. I'm surprised there is no mention of that at all.
If you guys want another disturbing movie centered around a serial killer, give The House That Jack Built a shot. It's the type of film that will leave you feeling shaken to your core for days, and it sticks. It's quite fascinating, at least to me, because it's one of the rare movies I've seen that got better-and-better the more I thought about it.

I hope you remember us when you're getting your nobel peace prize for having the greatest idea on the planet.
Yeah, devils rejects is an awesome movie. Also RIP Sid Haig, you will be missed.
No one ever really mentions how good Rob Zombie's writing is.
Because it's not, that's why.
Personally, I don't think Zombie is that good of a writer at all. He has a certain visual style for sure.
To me what makes this the best of its genre is that it’s completely feasible.
House of a 1000 Corpses is a horror masterpiece. Easily Zombie’s best film
Literally just watched Three From Hell yesterday so this is perfect.
Same
They are on the run, because the house of 1000 house has been found out :P so there is a reason they're killing in devil's rejects
The shoot locations like the gas station, motel and the climax ending, are all real sets used for other movies. I really wanna go check it out
Tiny is the least evil character in the movies,he never kills and only does the handy work because he's helping his family
perfect timing. just went on lunch break.
One of Rob Zombie's best original quotes also is from 31. Where Doomhead says "You know what they say kemosabi, in Hell.. everybody loves popcorn."
Of the three movies, _Devil's Rejects_ is my favourite. _House of 1,000 Corpses_ is a close second. _3 From Hell_ I just found to be okay.
I just put in my pre-order. Can't pass up an opportunity like this
Yo@@steffanburer3867, that's his

Dude they clearly said that captain spaulding was gonna cook the chicken
If you guys want another disturbing movie centered around a serial killer, give The House That Jack Built a shot. It's the type of film that will leave you feeling shaken to your core for days, and it sticks. It's quite fascinating, at least to me, because it's one of the rare movies I've seen that got better-and-better the more I thought about it.
I didn't realize that was the guy from Batman begins who shot Bruce's parents till you said it.
I love Rob Zombie movies. I know people don't like his movies but I think he is a really good filmmaker
