I met Robert Englund at Flash Back Weekend this year. After all these years, and telling all the fans the same story his charisma is still there. He's still so passionate about his work its incredible. He's also a super nice guy. We talked about how he ruined sausage pizza for me when I was younger and he ended up telling me the whole story about filming that day.
So, Johnny Depp got his start in Nightmare on Elm Street? AND he went on to later play as Edward Scissor-hands? Whoa, role-ception... Guess he was the anti-Freddy in that one.
The part of Freddy Vs Jason where he cuts of the girls nose and it doesn't translate into reality can probably be explained by Freddy's weakened power.
Except the difference is that when Freddy is weak and shown as much in the film, he can't hurt anyone - even in their dreams. By the time the nose thing happens, its quite clear Freddy is not weak anymore.
Kind of a random fun fact; the girl who gets her nose ripped off is Kelly Rowland of Destiny's Child. This was apparently during the period when she was trying to branch out into movies like Beyonce did. It didn't work out quite as well for her.
The second one had such an impact on me when I was younger, I actually got in trouble when the substitute bus driver missed a turn & I started screaming "OH SHIT! FREDDY'S DRIVING THE BUS! IT'S FREDDY KRUEGER!"
John Saxon is a very underrated actor. Whenever I see him as Nancy's dad I forget that i'm watching the same actor who played a martial artist in Enter The Dragon with Bruce Lee.
My mom met Robert Englund and only remembered him for his role in Phantom of the Opera. Which I think is hilarious cause he even said himself he was never remembered for that role before.
Robert Englund was his in his late 30s when he started to become Freddy.Age 37 then 47 on new nightmare then 56 on freddy vs jason and he turned 70 in june.Started acting at a good age of 25.

James Lott they said that several scenes before. Two scenes after the nose bit Freddy gets mad because he wanted to kill the girl that Jason killed. So it’s a screw up either way.
I remember John Saxon being my SECOND favorite character in Bruce Lee's "Enter The Dragon" (1973)... He played "Roper", a degenerate gambler that entered the martial arts tournament on Han's island. His wisecracks and sarcasm was appealing to me even in my childhood years. And the irony of HIM being the one to beat "Bolo" (Han's right-hand bodyguard), really solidified HIM as being my next to favorite guy in that whole movie!!😁👍

I can just imagine them in a dark room with the chains hanging down from the ceiling & Doug Bradley coming out saying “What seems to be the problem?” Then maybe a little smirk or something & then it ends. But that kind of cliff hanger demands a sequel that just couldn’t be done
It sounds like an interesting idea, I suppose, but only if Warwick Davis is the Leprechaun. We already know Brad Dourif is good with continuing his role as Chucky, so that probably wouldn't be an issue.
Fun Fact: There actually was a playable demo game of sorts called Nightmare on Elm St. 4: The Dream Master released by a company called the Unicorn Corporation based in the Netherlands. They sold magazines from 1989-1993 and in those magazines were floppy demo disks of upcoming games. In the July 1990 edition they had a floppy disk that had: graphic scenes, a playable demo of "zapping" Freddy with a beam of light, and music all from the movie. Although not really a full game, it's still pretty interesting. The company also did one for Total Recall and Terminator 2: Judgement Day in 1992.
There's an interesting small detail in the third movie. The bar in which Nancy finds her father is called "Little Nemo's." It's a reference to the old comic strip "Little Nemo in Slumberland."
By the time he started playing in "Nightmare on Elm Street" Johnny Depp had already dropped out of school, left his home and had to work to support himself at 15. One tough cookie, though I don't condone dropping out of school of course.

How about Michael Myers vs. the Silver Shamrock robots? (Seriously, what's the problem? BOTH sets of characters were created by the same people). We could even have a plot where both the Silver Shamrock company and Myers's cult are trying to sacrifice millions of children---but for entirely different reasons. And the only way to stop them is to get the cult--with Michael--and the company--with the robots--to fight each other. And the only way to do THAT is by having Dr. Loomis and Dr. Challis join forces!
Well the comic is based from the script they had written from it so if you own the comic you pretty much know what would have been. The reason it diddnt get mad was because Sam Rami diddnt want to allow them to use the character because they diddnt want any of the main 3 to die but Rami wanted Ash to kill both Freddy an Jason.
I enjoyed the later films as single entries. I'm not sure any of them were originally intended to be Hellrasier films, just scripts laying around where they threw Pinhead and his gash in. I can see why fans dislike them though.
The original ending for Freddy Vs Jason with pinhead sounds actually amazing to me, and Although I think the Ending we have now is pretty good and In character for both Freddy and Jason in my opinion, The originally planned ending sounds much better.
Josh is quoting the AVGN episode where he reviewed the Nightmare on Elm Street game and he was trying to explain why Freddy had knives coming out of his fingers on the title screen
I love Freddy's Dead. I think it's the continuation of 2 where he is still in control at the end. It was all a dream and then he slowly killed off all the children in the town which is where 5 kicks off.
Certainly the most consistently scary of the Slasher filers. Nightmare on Elm Street probably has the record for most GOOD sequels in it's library. Part 1, 3, 4, New Nightmare and possibly Part 2 if you ignore certain things, makes a solid 5. Most other slasher films don't have that Halloween: 3, maybe 4 Friday the 13th: 3 Texas Chainsaw: 2
Aside from some problems, 5 wasn't actually bad, and 6 despite its confused Curse of Thorn storyline still dripped with atmosphere throughout in both the theatrical version and producer's cut.
Thinking back it really is amazing how much all the kids I knew talked about R-rated movies at school. My parents never let me watch Freddy or Jason movies but I saw Robocop and Terminator.. etc. We all talked about these movies on the bus or on the playground where the teachers weren't around.
In the Freddy VS Jason movie the reason why people weren't getting hurt in real life when in dream was because Freddy was weak like you had mentioned. He couldn't really hurt people for real anymore and only make them scared. By they way that little kid that was in New Nightmare and Pet Semetry was also in The Shinning remake. He is what makes that one good to watch to me. He is a great child actor.
The original plan for Freddy was for him to be a child molester. Apparently in the early 80's when it was being made it was considered too creepy for an R rating and would've resulted in adults only, they wanted to keep it to R so they changed him to a child murderer. This is where the child molester angle came from in the remake - it's what was originally intended for the character. The remake Freddy was originally supposed to look like a realistic burn victim. They really did their research. Unfortunately, they found it was TOO realistic, and actually grossed test audiences out to the point where it was a distraction. So they toned it down and made it a little bit cartoony, which resulted in the CG mess it became.
In the German version, it's actually made clear from the beginning that he was a kiddie-fiddler, which obviously makes the character even creepier. Liked the idea, that the remake picked up the idea but hated that the screen-writers essentially wasted it in the end. And almost an irony that I just watched a video on former vice-president Joe Biden...
The no company would take the film until the molester aspect was removed because they thought it seemed to much of an attack on Hollywood films corporation owners. If that doesn't say something, idk what would. For me the molester angle is still very prevalent in all the films.
Rarely do i agree with someone so completely. #1, #3, and New Nightmare is the complete story for me as well. I always felt like "New Nightmare" was the "serious art" version of the Nightmare series. I remember watching it at the age of around 12 and not really getting it but watching it later on in my 20s and thinking it was amazing stuff. Haven't seen it since and probably won't since I've found my favorite movies from back in the day don't age well.

The nose thing and a lot of other dream injuries was explained in the movie... The attacks weren't carrying over because Freddy wasn't strong enough yet, so his powers weren't working.
I met Robert Englund at Flash Back Weekend this year. After all these years, and telling all the fans the same story his charisma is still there. I just assume at this point his power is still very inconsistent and unreliable. Been a while since I seen the movie though.
Yeah he tries to stab the one kid in the beginning and nothing even happens in the dream because he's too weak. That's the whole premise of the movie.

And the only way to stop them is to get the cult--with Michael--and the company--with the robots--to fight each other. And the only way to do THAT is by having Dr. Loomis and Dr. Challis join forces!
What? That pinhead ending sounds like it would've been amazing!
Dream Warriors is the best movie in the series. It perfectly mixes Gore, Horror, and Comedy.
Best line in the series: "Welcome to Primetime, bitch!"
1&3
nope 1 is the best film
Ahhh, back when Johnny Depp was in the opening credits as "Introducing"!
That power glove tho
Scary in the fear sense or scary in the "Oh dear lord, this series is dead"
Maybe but for Collectors it's a must have.
No, not really. Did I think it was stupid in the movie oh HELL yes, did it really bother me that much, not really. I usually skip that movie anyway.
“HEY! You forgot the power glove!!!”
Blaze Piffington NOW YOUR PLAYING WITH POWAAH
“Bon apetit, bitch!”
You should have mentioned Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash (from evil dead), it was supposed to be made, but they only made a comic book out of it :(
Well the comic is based from the script they had written from it so if you own the comic you pretty much know what would have been. The reason it diddnt get mad was because Sam Rami diddnt want to allow them to use the character because they diddnt want any of the main 3 to die but Rami wanted Ash to kill both Freddy an Jason.
BoomStick Critique Linkara actually did a review on it
@@boomstickcritique902 that's cool ash should have killed both of them it would have been a bold dicison
I really want a Chucky vs Leprechaun movie, that’d be amazing
Im a simple man, I see Freddy I upvote.
I definitely would go see Chucky versus Leprechaun
good stuff. You should do a review on the Hellraiser series, it went down hill fast
edit. And the Cube series
I enjoyed the later films as single entries. I'm not sure any of them were originally intended to be Hellrasier films, just scripts laying around where they threw Pinhead and his gash in. I can see why fans dislike them though.
Say it with me Nerd: Lang. En. Kamp! XD
Yee
The original ending for Freddy Vs Jason with pinhead sounds actually amazing to me, and Although I think the Ending we have now is pretty good and In character for both Freddy and Jason in my opinion, The originally planned ending sounds much better.
On the bright side we have a match made in heaven, Robert England played as Jonathan Crane aka The Scarecrow in injustice 2
In the movie Nightmare part 2...nah, they just fucked up.
Josh is quoting the AVGN episode where he reviewed the Nightmare on Elm Street game and he was trying to explain why Freddy had knives coming out of his fingers on the title screen
I also agree with the original, part 3, and New Nightmare being the best 3. No coincidence that the lovely Heather L. is in all 3.
The 3rd has always been my favorite too. It's fucking awesome
The kill where the girl is slashed while she’s on the ceiling and there’s crazy amounts of blood. It’s the coolest kill in horror movie history.
I wouldn't mind seeing a Chucky vs Demonic toys.
That would be pretty awesome, a lot better than that shitty ass Puppet Master vs Demonic Toys film they did before
Dream Master was my favourite, and had one of the best intros ever.
I love Freddy's Dead. I think it's the continuation of 2 where he is still in control at the end. It was all a dream and then he slowly killed off all the children in the town which is where 5 kicks off.
this A Nightmare on Elmstreet series review was a delight and informational.
Certainly the most consistently scary of the Slasher filers. Nightmare on Elm Street probably has the record for most GOOD sequels in it's library. Part 1, 3, 4, New Nightmare and possibly Part 2 if you ignore certain things, makes a solid 5.
Most other slasher films don't have that
Halloween: 3, maybe 4
Friday the 13th: 3
Texas Chainsaw: 2
The Fan Without a Face Halloween 3 I disagree because Michael Myers isn't in it. It really doesn't have anything to do with the series
Not what I mean I meant it has like 3 good movies in it besides the original 2, 4 and H20.
The Fan Without a Face Ahhh I got ya Lol I misread
Aside from some problems, 5 wasn't actually bad, and 6 despite its confused Curse of Thorn storyline still dripped with atmosphere throughout in both the theatrical version and producer's cut.
Brian Hutcherson the series is called Halloween not Michael Myers Halloween 3 has more to do with Halloween than any of the others
The character Kelly Leek from the old school bad news bears movie, (the kid who rode the motorcycle) was played by Jack Earle Haley
Decker Shado Summer of Freddy vs Jason
#3 was my favourite of the series. I remember begging my mom to take me to see it in theatre when I was 12 lol
I know something more terrorific than freddy: a game of LJN!!
briagaldabazzz stop ur scarying me.
Even SCARIER: Make the "LJN" movie a sequel to "Pixels."
🕹
Thinking back it really is amazing how much all the kids I knew talked about R-rated movies at school. My parents never let me watch Freddy or Jason movies but I saw Robocop and Terminator.. etc. We all talked about these movies on the bus or on the playground where the teachers weren't around.
For Freddy Vs Jason, I always thought a better plot would have revolved around Jason being one of the ElmStreet kids...
Great video guys. It's always good to find legitimate fans of the Franchise doing vids like this! 👍
Any MARVEL fan noticed that Mark's character drawing was mix of Ironfist and The Punisher??
Sammy Lane it's been a long while since I've seen Nightmare, so I'll have to rewatch it and see myself! Punisher is freaking awesome!
Looked like a mix of Deadshot and Deadpool to me.
@@cheaddos looked like optimus prime and scooby doo
Totally agree with your top 3. Spot on. This was a pleasure to watch and an awesome time through memory lane. Thanks man!
I liked the remake. It wasn't the best but I enjoyed seeing Freddy being more of a monster like the original.
R.I.P John Saxon
Always enjoy your horror series reviews and this video is no exception. Thanks James for sharing your knowledge with us.
Got the 8 film boxset for Xmas. Love these movies.
Never realized that was Johnny Depp until now! Wtf.
We love Johnny Depp
And Kevin Bacon was in the original Friday the 13th.
Im gonna say this now if you ever meet any of the lead nightmare chicks heather langenkamp (Nancy) in the nicest.
Lisa Wilcox is really nice too.
Oh, ok, I'll make sure to look out for her niceness next time I'm talking to her
I met her in 2018 at Days of the Dead. She was so nice to me!! I also met the actors from "Dream Warriors" and THEY were nice too!!! The next year, I met Amanda Wyss and Robert Englund, himself at DragonCon, and THEY were nice too!!
Please keep going, i love this series. I grew up with all these movies. Im 30 and i remember all these moments, kinda sad really, it was a happier time in my life and freddy made it better lol the pinhead ending in freddy vs jason would have been godlike!!!!
“Lanjencap?” I think it’s “Langenkamp.”
That alt ending on FVJ with Pinhead at the end would have been AWESOME
The nose thing and a lot of other dream injuries was explained in the movie... The attacks weren't carrying over because Freddy wasn't strong enough yet, so his powers weren't working.
I love in Nightmare 2 when he’s doing that dance with the cork gun hahaha
