    The question people don't seem to ask when MJ moved to point guard is why did his rebound numbers go up? You expect his assist numbers to increase but not rebounds. According to MJ, he said he tried to get more rebounds so he could start the fast break (as he knew that's what guys like Magic would do). And he had to do this against taller players. That lets me know that MJ could have averaged more rbds & asts throughout his career but he let other guys play their roles instead.

      I think the better question is, if his rebounds and assists went up so much, why did his points not decrease ? They remained relatively the same in the switch from shooting guard to point guard that season. Proof that stats aren't everything.

      Also, point guards are in better position to grab rebounds due to their central placement on the court vs a 2 guard that plays on one side.

    You broke this down perfectly bro! They’re also selective about stats. Rarely discussed is FG% or turnovers. They act like it’s all about points, assists, and rebounds. Defense has been a non factor for years as it is.

    The numbers are 7 consecutive triple doubles, 10 triple doubles in 11 games and 15 triple doubles in the season. That was done in a months time, since Doug Collins moved him to point in March and the regular season ends in April!!!

    Skills and winning, or "Winning skills" is what matters. And no one did it better or more spectacular than Michael Jordan on both sides of the ball. There is no Excel Spreadsheet needed to tell me what my eyes already know. "BU but bu butt...those aren't facts bluh bluh". If paperwork was all you needed, talent scouts wouldn't even exist.

  • @semajgnik
    @semajgnik 3 года назад +24

    Yup. LeBron, Harden or Westbrook wouldn't be getting so many triple doubles in the triangle offense. That stretch where MJ played point proves he would've averaged a triple double while still winning the scoring the title, easily. I honestly think the triangle offense robbed us of seeing MJs true potential.
    People think he's not an all around player like Pippen or LeBron, but he obviously was, he just didn't have to be.

    • @zionlxzarus

      I would say it robbed us of seeing Jordan's peak individual stats. But if he continued playing like that, he wouldn't have won 6 rings.

      The way MJ would drive to the paint, get in the air, hang there for a minute sensing the open man, and serve those no looks to Grant, Pippen or Cartwright was magical.
      The come from behind blocks, the pickpockets, The insane speed he would close off a passing lane leading to a fast break, his putbacks, his palm fakes, his line drive quarterback passes. And don't get me started on everything he could do on offense, like his insane layup package, hang time, triple / quadruple clutch in the air, quickest first step, incredible posters, getting in the air absorbing contact and finishing the and 1, low post footwork, one dribble pull up, fade away in the post, and overall mid-range game. Everything I mentioned, he did as well as anybody ever! And most of it, he did better than anybody ever 🐐
      He was the best all-around player in the history of the NBA and it's not even close!

    I really appreciate your insight, thoughtfulness, and logic when it comes to matters of Michael Jordan. I watched his entire career from college freshman at UNC to his final time with the Wizards. During his stint at the point, he was simply amazing!! I used to tell my brother that the Bulls should move him to the one because his numbers would increase immediately. Jordan was not just good but great at every facet of basketball! His game quite literally had no weaknesses! I'm a soon to be 65 year old black man who has played, watched, and studied basketball for over four decades. I've witnessed all of the greats starting in the late 1960s to present day, and I have NEVER seen anyone as great or better than Jordan! PERIOD!!!!!❤😊

    My opinion on why they don’t release his games or at least all of them is because they know the truth will come out about who the hell the GOAT is and has been. They can’t sell this lebron crap anymore. At the end of the day the NBA is a business. They’re not gonna screw up their bottom line for anything.

  • @bpmachete

    Yeah Mike was an offense initiator when they ran the offense that basically has no point guard, the triangle. If he played the way they play now he would play like Lukka etc he would have been insane, especially in the modern nba. Mike the best man, he averaged a triple double senior year highschool, he can do the PG really well and SG also so, for winning they went the triangle and they won. Mike could be coached and played chess out there.

    As what Isiah said during that time, he's gonna go over Magic as the best pg ever. Then other players said, Doc Rivers was one of them, that it would seem unfair because of the numbers he could put up without him running the offense and not holding the ball all the time, how much more if he played pg. Doc Rivers and co were right. The numbers MJ had was record breaking to say the least.
    LBJ's minions? Let them be. They don't know better but veterans of the game even chose Kobe over that stat padding crybaby.

    MJ is the GOAT, your video is absolutely correct! Lebron James is not even close to MJ. The NBA try’s to pump up Lebrons image to keep the league popular but he’s not even in the top 5 in my opinion. The NBA game today is soft because of the rule changes . My point is if Lebron played in the 80’s and 90’s he would of been a good player but no where near being considered close to MJ and his stats would of been much lower.

    Jordan averaged a triple double during his time at the point while still averaging 32 a game. I believe he was at point the last 25 or 26 games of the season which is 1/3 of the season which is a good sample size.

    As a fan of both mj and bron(I’m assuming that’s who your talking about yes it’s possible to like both) I think you made a great point about a players role. Another great point that stats don’t tell a players whole story, if you really know the game you have to watch the whole games to understand it not highlights and not just box score. I do think it’s tough to compare an entire season to a stretch of 11 games. Lebron was put as the designated PG for the lakers three years ago and didn’t have the scoring numbers but averaged the same numbers of assists and led the team to a title in his 17th season. This 11 game stretch the bulls had a losing record and lost to several teams with losing records.

    • @essentialjordan23
      @essentialjordan23  2 года назад

      Great points, and you are correct in pointing out that playing this role was not conducive to WINNING for Mike and those Bulls, which is why it didn’t last and Doug Collins was let go soon thereafter.
