Hey, Linus. At 19:00 you mention all the issues you've had with manufacturers. I work in Regulatory at a US based company. We deal with issues like this using a legally binding Manufacturer Disclosure Form. If they don't send what we have agreed upon them sending, we can take them to court. Maybe something along these lines might help with the headache.
@@TheRedek18 Well the point is companies would be too afraid to go to court so they would send what is agreed upon in the first place so they can't be sued.
I've just done a 250 dollar order to the UK, that included shipping, it was only about 55 quid in customs charges which was a lot lower than I expected. I think if you keep the price below a certain point (think it's like 170ish dollars, but don't quote me on that, think I read it somewhere) you have a lot less chance of customs flagging it

This video just made me appreciate LTT as a company a lot more. Seeing how they actually put in effort to make their product the best it can be. I wish more companies cared as much as they do.
My conclusion after watching this, is that I'm deeply impressed by the restraint on the quantity of mid-video shilling the merchadise gets, specially considering all the sheer investment and commitment to quality.
the no compromises on quality and design are insane considering this started off, and still ostensibly is....a tech channel. you guys put more care than a lot of actual fashion brands lol. kick ass
Linus's Passion for his Company, the videos released on Floatplane or RUclips, the products LTT produce on LTTStore , and the relationship he has with his staff is something special. I feel as a member of the audience honored hes happy to take the time to show us into his life with his family and staff and hot just release repetitive or drawn out content. Long may it continue and I wish him the best and everyone else that helps make such a great channel of content!
I’m glad you are being understanding with your engineers Linus. I’m a mechanical designer and I’ve been working on a product for 4 years now and we are just starting to roll them out to market. It’s been a long road and engineer is hard. It’s probably even harder for consumer products. I’m really excited to see the no compromises stuff.
Yeah, having a boss who knows how hard engineering can be is liberating. My best friend's boss is one, and that hugely changes things... when they're understanding.
The good thing here is that they already have ways of income, when you're just starting out and the product you're building is going to be the primary source of income there's more pressure involved of course. Still, I absolutely agree; the banter he shares with the engineers can come across as crass and fearmongering to an outsider, but it's clearly coming from a place of understanding and respect. Which is only made even more clear in all the videos (even the product teaser videos) where they're going into all the small gripes they're looking to fix - it's really something they want to nail the first time no matter how long it takes. A lot of companies, big or small, don't do this enough.
@@elightning He just means your comment reads like a generic "positive" review from some shady seller on amazon with obviously fake comments. But the only reason yours looks like this is because they design those fake comments to look like real people, which you are, Eric Son of John.
Not saying Linus is a perfect employer but.. Linus has so much pride in his staff. It's honestly really amazing to see how much he credits everyone here and in other videos. If many other employers did the same, the world would be a better place.
As someone who graduated uni doing Product Design, this is an amazing look into the kind of place I one day wish to work at. Attention to detail is paramount and I'm glad you're putting so much effort into it!
I remember watching Linus when his server was in the bath tub, and they had to move because it was a commercial operation in a residential space. It’s incredible to see how far you’ve come. I never thought I’d live in Vancouver too, but that happened.
I love seeing more behind-the-scenes videos like this one. Seeing how you guys do QC and product validation testing really shows how you're able to ship consistently high-quality products.
Especially depending on which employees are comfortable on camera or not. If they are, he lets them do the talking. If they’re not, he takes the lead but lets them jump in.
Linus is by far the only RUclipsr that I’ve come across with that showed the intricate details for their merch. Really goes to show how his team have a keen attention to detail to ensure that their fans could get their money’s worth. Can’t wait to order some merch if I have the money to do so 😅
Yeah man. A lot of YouTUbers, even huge ones, just get a designer to make a design for tem and then just slap it on a premade line of clothing. What LTT are doing is really cool.
working for LTT seems like a genuinely enjoyable job. I'm sure theres a lot of pressure working on smaller teams, but honestly all of their projects seem really awesome to work on.
I love the LTT Store products, both incredible design and outstanding quality. But I’d love it see a Europe Warehouse. I had it may times that I thought about buying something, but the sadly high cost of shipping in addition to taxes just stopped me from actually going through with the purchase. Regardless of that just a great projects
Linus has said they aren't gonna put a warehouse in the us for tax reasons (and converting valuta multiple times) on the wan show So I imagine doing it in Europe would be an even bigger headache especially if they wanna keep high quality
@@rowan-paul It also might not make sense having a warehouse in the US since it's physically close to the current one. A warehouse within the EU for bulk imports means they'd have a much easier time selling to the ~450 million people within the EU single market.
Man whenever I see these videos I imagine that boss at NCIX telling Linus, "tell me when that turns into 2 dollars", and Linus now has a whole empire, and the love of the whole tech community under his name. Simply, amazing, and even when you have it all at your side, you still care about your people and the quality of the products you want to sell. Breathtaking.
@@milky1234123 No kidding. This is what true reinvestment looks like. They could have so easily said the store will be a side thing, tossed some logos on whatever, and pulled as much money out as they could get at the time. Instead they're constantly building up cool new stuff.
@@Staren01 Considering how massively they are scaling up, I'd be very surprised if they don't offer their experience "as a service" to other creators on Floatplane at some point. And "custom made, quality merch" from someone with that much experience as an Influencer is probably appealing to a lot of other RUclips/Floatplane creators. And it would be another leg for Linus to stand on outside of the LTT RUclips channel (which is very important to Linus from what I heard)

I love the growth of this company. I live close to them and I've taken a keen interest in fashion and R&D within the textile industry. So it's cool to see this LTT expand the "cheap RUclips merch" to their "it's our own developed and tested merch." I'd like to see a separate channel for this venture. Might inspire someone like me who's interested in this to potentially getting into a school or industry.
I love how Linus and LMG are in no way settling with the large amounts of success they have found on RUclips, with Labs, merch, and I imagine many other things I can't remember/haven't been announced, they are doing so much work to expand.
All of this stuff looks so cool but shipping to the EU is just a solid no. Would love to see it, but I can't even imagine the extra effort it would take to get that going
At least he treats his workers well unlike wherever else you order stuff from and get "free" shipping. (It's not free by the way, the shipping cost is always baked into the regular purchase price of anywhere that claims free shipping or exceedingly low cost shipping)
@@roji556 You never have free shipping if you order something from America in the EU. Usually companys even small ones have like a partnership with a distributor like in Ireland or Netherlands that will send out stuff for the EU. It can be done. I wouldnt even care if the prices are just 1to1 transferred into Euros. But I imagine the fees are stopping alot of eu citizens to purchase stuff. I mean I was in the market for a good insulated water bottle looked up on LTT put it in the basket and saw the shipping fee + the other rest and ordered one from amazon instead... Depending on where the actual supplier is located they could order stuff to the eu warehouse too instead of only to Canada which will reduces shipping fees for them and for their customers
I think this is a great video, shows off the merch but also shows off a lot of what they talk into depth on on the wan show. So now normal content only viewers get to see a bit more of the process and what these peoples work is like.
I think that it makes sense that they pay so much attention to quality. Linus is very well known for his reviewing of products. It only makes sense that he ensures that his products keep to the most upmost quality, and a quality that he knows he'll enjoy and his viewers will enjoy.
Having an alternate colored neck binding in the back is the BEST way to tell which side is the back. I had some black undershirts that had a light gray neck binding in the back only, and I would always know what side was the back when putting it on. It was awesome.
The most amazing thing about all this to me is the teams commitment to making products RIGHT. They don’t cheap out, they don’t skimp, the check and recheck and verify everything to make sure every product is perfect. Sadly uncommon these days
Yeah, a small detail that made me really impressed is name dropping darn tough as a benchmark. That's a good sign that as a group they've put real effort into figuring out what's good.
The problem i saw was they are not specialized in specific products category, with so many products in different category, the R&D cost gonna rake up really fast, which means the end product gonna be really expensive.

Having worked as a production artist for a print & fabrication shop, it's fascinating how big a difference lighting can make for colours. The cost of those Pantone guide sets and the lighting box really starts to make sense when you're working at a place where the printers cost at least $100k a pop, the materials themselves aren't cheap, and worst of all the time wasted on tests and mistakes if you don't get the right colour is worth a *lot* of money.
I suppose, but they are the ones picking the colors so I don't personally see how any of that is worth doing in their case, they'd most likely be fine without that expense.
@@xxportalxx. If anything they need it more because they don't print it themselves but rather have to verify and assess samples from other places that cost a ton of money and time!

Right? Generally I associate "merch" with "low quality garbage that lasts about 5 minutes, but it makes a neat knick nack." The attention to detail and VERY high quality control makes it seem more like a brand new brand producing quality products, not just some shitty merch from a popular personality.
@@Oboreru493 well no... the way people use the word merch is more like how sports teams and events used merchandise to promote their thing. With big logos, it's a free form of advertisement for them. Even after the product has been bought. Problem is not many people will walk around with their favourite youtuber's logo on their chest aside from children. So moving away from traditional merch to products with reduced branding potentially increases the reach to consumers. If they can stock their actual products like the screwdriver (and it's actually good) in retail stores that would be huge for them too.
And given his connection to Framework and their upgradeability and repairability on their laptops they could make the exterior pieces or panels for Framework laptops so you can customize it to have your very own LTT laptop if you wanted, similar to the products DBrand makes, the skins and plates for phones laptops and consoles.

I'm sure all his manufacturers on alibaba are shaking right now.

Yeah going to court really helps with headache 😂

Love seeing all the innovation! LTT store is the 1 brand I absolutely want to purchase but shipping to the UK is just insane :(
I've just done a 250 dollar order to the UK, that included shipping, it was only about 55 quid in customs charges which was a lot lower than I expected.

Congratulations 🎊 hope you don't overlooked a major problem that your customers suddenly see.
Every item I have ordered from LTT has exceeded expectations. Great products, fantastic customer service 10/10!

Not saying Linus is a perfect employer but.. Linus has so much pride in his staff. It's honestly really amazing to see how much he credits everyone here and in other videos. If many other employers did the same, the world would be a better place.
If more companies treated their employees right like this they wouldn't wine about loyalty and pretend it is the employees fault they found better.

Well maybe if you had world class employees you would too
As someone who graduated uni doing Product Design, this is an amazing look into the kind of place I one day wish to work at.
The way Linus changes his tone and language depending on the employees he is adressing is facinating from a leadership/management perspective.

Can’t wait to order some merch if I have the money to do so 😅
Gamers Nexus has to up their game
They have the view stats. I wonder where on that mousepad it falls haha
@Nutsack yeah same, but even for the Bottle or other gear it’s still at least half the price for shipping wich sucks
Same. I'd love to get something, and at one point I probably will, but the accesability is a problem in Europe. It's gonna be costly.
Linus has said they aren't gonna put a warehouse in the us for tax reasons (and converting valuta multiple times) on the wan show
So I imagine doing it in Europe would be an even bigger headache especially if they wanna keep high quality

Honestly, this video has made me infinitely more likely to order from the LTT store. Seeing all the care and attention to detail you guys put into your products is great

Would love to see it, but I can't even imagine the extra effort it would take to get that going
yeah... it really sucks... something like a EU warehouse partnership would be so nice but the 30€ shipping fee is just so ugh.
At least he treats his workers well unlike wherever else you order stuff from and get "free" shipping. (It's not free by the way, the shipping cost is always baked into the regular purchase price of anywhere that claims free shipping or exceedingly low cost shipping)
@@AngryApple + import fees and another round of VAT which for some reason includes shipping T_T

I imagine Linus would be a really great boss to work for, I imagine he's pretty challenging but I think he'd be pretty fair and genuinely supportive.
This new host is pretty good, you should let them on more. Such a young cool guy haircut.
The most amazing thing about all this to me is the teams commitment to making products RIGHT. They don’t cheap out, they don’t skimp, the check and recheck and verify everything to make sure every product is perfect. Sadly uncommon these days
Because it’s impossible when you have to hit certain price points or deliver dates. Most companies simply cannot afford it.

I suppose, but they are the ones picking the colors so I don't personally see how any of that is worth doing in their case, they'd most likely be fine without that expense.

well no cause its still merch... anything that is bought and sold is merch

Whatever you’re paying Sarah, is not enough, she super talented, and any video is improved 100% just from her presence. She could could present a video about paint drying and I would lap it up
This level of banter with the boss is a very nice thing to see! haha
Kind of disrespectful in my book to be honest and especially after Linus reply abouth the 18 months to launch a product.
props to the editor, that echo effect + caption at 18:32 was top notch comedy
Seriously, Linus has got to be paying his editors well! The edits/green screens/memes get me every video 😂
12:20 I love how Linus always treats Sarah like a child, he even changes his voice 🥹
