I have the all black one. Took 6 months to arrive... but i want now the all blue one ... truth is if we could have the option to make Color selection of all parts like the guys in LTX i would pay for it sure.
I have the regular screwdriver and as a test engineer it is perfectly useable and has been absolutely wonderful to use. I only just lost my first bit recently, but it was one of the square bits so no lost sleep on that. I am going to be ordering a stubby because I've been in some tight spaces and the extra long shaft hasn't been super convenient.
Just ordered one. The other one has served well as an EDC. My only complaint is that they still haven't R&D a compact case for the screwdriver with a built-in holder for all the available bits you can purchase. That'd be sweet. Unlike the average who only uses a flathead or Phillips 99% of the time, I've had to break into all the boxes. Having a uniform case for the brand would be awesome. I'm excited about the stubby though. There have been a few times when I've needed to use a stubby because the regular one wouldn't fit and had to sideline my LTT screwdriver #sad. Not anymore baby. Anyone looking to make a purchase and can only buy one, buy the stubby for a multitude of reasons.
I wonder if the crew is up for making a recycled plastic driver? I think that would be awesome! I've always been a fan of the "speckled" recycled look on tech products and would easily be my preferred way to spend my money on a driver. Not that I wouldn't buy a regular one to begin with lol
their process involves maximum plastic recycling already, with overall minimal losses. aesthetics are not the issue with recycle plastic, physical properties are.

The LTT screwdriver’s biggest flaw as a PC builder is how thick the handle is, I feel it gets in the way inside tight spaces inside a case. ifixit’s tool kits make far more sense for the same price & sometimes less just as a toolkit. Sure not a ratchet mechanism but in terms of sheer productivity & practicality I’ll go with a toolkit over a single $70 screwdriver.
Disagree. I have bigger than average hands and after 5 years of building PCs on the daily I can not use thinner screwdrivers without hurting. ifixit is great tho, use their tools every day too.
I found that I still use my iFixit tools quite a bit, but anything that I need any kind of torque for, I grab my LTT driver. Not just pc building, but anything that requires a screwdriver. Done car work, audio work, furniture building, I've even repaired random lawn tools.
@@silaboop I’m talking about the size of the handle being too big for PC cases in general, not hands but I do get what you’re saying, I have large hands too so larger handles can feel more comfortable which is why I bought iFixits larger screwdriver handle. I love my full-sized one and have a stubby in the mail... my one major complaint is that the bit selector is way too hard to pull out (usually takes multiple attempts since your fingers just slide off the part of the cap without ridges), so I'm hoping the stubby requires less force to open...
Still needs slim angle adapters, ever try building in the WP200 (Pedestal on bottom) with a PSU in bottom most chamber AND tried to replace the fans located "just above it"... sometimes EVEN Smaller is better!
I'm pretty sure that the vast majority of the videos we're still seeing were completed (or at least filmed) prior to the break... That's already been confirmed on the short circuit ones.
Not gonna lie. Themed drivers would sell like crazy. Match the colors to pop culture references and people will snatch them up instantly. The biggest problem I would see would be stability of the shaft. The longer the shaft the more wobbly the endpoint. It is a screwdriver after all. However I wonder what that would look like?
@htr5372 thanks will look into that! I thought someone would have tried this by now.
I'd love this idea as a spring loaded option, the amount of fun it would be to play around with
Thank you for including a black shaft again! In my eyes, even a scratched up black shaft screwdriver looks wayyyy better than a pristine silver shaft
😉
You’ve got it so backwards
I have the all black one. Took 6 months to arrive... but i want now the all blue one ... truth is if we could have the option to make Color selection of all parts like the guys in LTX i would pay for it sure.
Same, I’d like black with pink accents, for now Ill hold off
can't wait for build your own backpack next LTX
Anyone notice that he called the yellow screw driver blue and the blue one yellow at 6:01. Classic Linus always throwing in a twist.
So funny to have a sponsor on a video that is basically just an ad
I have the regular screwdriver and as a test engineer it is perfectly useable and has been absolutely wonderful to use. I only just lost my first bit recently, but it was one of the square bits so no lost sleep on that. I am going to be ordering a stubby because I've been in some tight spaces and the extra long shaft hasn't been super convenient.
If you asked me what colour I'd want I'd say all black, yet looking at them the black/orange with the regular shaft looks the best
Stubby already love it small and compact yet useful for small case builds
"Let's talk about the stubby shaft" - Linus 2023
I wonder if the crew is up for making a recycled plastic driver? I think that would be awesome! I've always been a fan of the "speckled" recycled look on tech products and would easily be my preferred way to spend my money on a driver. Not that I wouldn't buy a regular one to begin with lol
their process involves maximum plastic recycling already, with overall minimal losses. aesthetics are not the issue with recycle plastic, physical properties are.
The solid Orange Color screwdriver is a massive hit of nostalgia for us old viewers of the channel :)
Oh yeah, because LTT and orange is totally something that only keen-eyed viewers can notice 🙄🙄
@@BahhBahhBrownSheepor the fact the linus had an orange screwdriver that was pretty much the only screwdriver that he would ever use
@@BahhBahhBrownSheep Tell me you didn't get the reference without telling me you didn't get the reference
@@BahhBahhBrownSheep < How to spot a new viewer. In all seriousness though, Linus used to religiously use a solid orange screwdriver before the LTT screwdriver. He would often flip it out of his pocket and then catch it.
my old orange screwdriver is a classic lol. I so wanted to get the all-orange one to have a matching upgrade lol but got the stubby instead.
As someone who has had some things "borrowed" from me in my workplace, having a tool that doesn't look like anyone else's could be an easy way to identify the owner.
I would be interested getting both screwdrivers if they had a bundle deal, please deliver LTT! 👀
The fact that this video has a sponsor is hilarious 🤣
I genuinely hope the solid color options do well enough to have a build your own on ltt so some content creators can make their own with their colors in a mini almost collab with ltt. Plus the option for future colors is looking like a serious possibility if they do well enough since I'd do a dark blue and black combo myself. Can't wait to see the future of this screw driver
Can't believe you guys had pink and green parts and didnt realise a limited run lambo edition
transparent?
I'm going to have to think about the stubby, great idea but I'm not sure I'd use it enough.
However, I love my black and orange one with the black shaft, sure the black on the shaft has worn off in places, but it just shows it's a real tool that's being used regularly.
Awesome. Now do a precision driver edition. :)
Good News for you then they actually are working on a precision driver. You can check out the current prototype they have for it on their most recent WAN show 1:31:50 (Sept 1, 2023 for future readers of this) looks pretty nice so far.
The chocolate brown prototype version of the screwdriver looks amazing, please release it. Even if it’s limited edition. I will buy it!
My favorite part is how they had an ad in the video for their own products lol.
Lttstore.com
For me, is was a non LTT ad in the middle of the video. Not the normal opening and closing ads.
@@ShortCircuitwhen you where showing the build your own screwdriver event, i just looked at the purple one and it occurred to me the purple looked like Freeza.. if it had a white body with a purple head, it would really look like him.. if you put together the orange with blue, you would have the “kimono” color combination.. my point is.. a dragon ball edition would be fire!
Oh my god! Thank you for adding chapters for sponsors! THANK YOU
I wish it had a telescoping shaft/shank. I have a DeWalt screwdriver with that feature and it's amazing. It would be perfect for a stubby.
Ordering these from the EU is quite expensive. Is LTT planing on creating a EU hub for distribution?
Did the magnet bit come with the original screwdrivers too? Because I totally missed that one :D. I'll have to go and check mine.
The magnet tip was included with my full length fidget spinner... err screwdriver.
But I have find it to be pretty redundant as the magnet in the shaft has been powerful enough to pick up odds and ends with any bit.
Allow me to say as someone who is in marketing, I just love the entire marketing plan here. Truly spot on 😄👍 You guys know your base 😄😊
ive been waiting for the smaller one, i have two full size, but i keep running into situations where its too long to fit in certain spots.
I hope they will sell them as a sets (maybe even with the option to colour customize them; but i am happy if there are some presets) with a slight discount :D
As a Canadian from Toronto. I applaud the inclusion of the Robertson bit. Yes I understand it’s more of a Canadian but can you include a Robertson package or Canadian packaging lol!?!
Just have pity for all those people who will never know the glory of the Robertson head screw, especially those stuck with the devil incarnate that is the Phillips head.
It is the superior screw for trades haha
Still not sure why you would want a magnet bit on a short screwdriver, but included bits are appreciated.
Linus knows I ❤ black shafts
Got the stubby and made a custom full size driver at LTX this year and thus far both have been great! Stubby fits in my purse super easy and is so handy but the long boi is for sure more useful in most cases. :)
They have a set that has 2 different sized handles.
I feel like I’m advertising just for ifixit, that is not the case I promise lol
@@RobertOfHill oh yeah for sure, outside of PC building for other general use I agree, I think the LTT product would be tough to beat.
The stubby handle with the longer shaft would be a welcome option that would still be TSA compliant.
The tolerance on the manufacturing of these screwdrivers is impressive, worth the extra money to some. Great Product! Now a cool multitool!?😎
Ok I finally broke down and bought a Mystery Driver ! I have been putting off buying a LTT screwdriver but I truly do use a screwdriver every workday and I lost my Favorite 10.00 PEPBOYS magnetic phillips one. I am glad you guys are back and TYVM
I missed this maybe, but are the mystery colors sold at a discount? i mean it's nice those won't go to landfill, but you should also incentivise the customer to make that decision... i mean, it's not uncommon in the industry, ie. older models of smartphones of unpopular colors get a small but noticeable discount.
It's $10 less than a solid color, but that's still $10 more than normal
I ordered the Stubby Screwdriver in Black and Orange with a Silver shaft yesterday.
I love my full-sized one and have a stubby in the mail... my one major complaint is that the bit selector is way too hard to pull out (usually takes multiple attempts since your fingers just slide off the part of the cap without ridges), so I'm hoping the stubby requires less force to open...
When do we get the quad shaft driver with the three T66 turbos, with NOS, and a MoTeC system exhaust.
Still needs slim angle adapters, ever try building in the WP200 (Pedestal on bottom) with a PSU in bottom most chamber AND tried to replace the fans located "just above it"... sometimes EVEN Smaller is better!
The vibe changed, not saying it's bad. I like this more calm Linus.
Green body with matching top and bottom in red, blue, purple, or orange for a TMNT theme.
White handle with a blue and purple top and bottom for the old 90s water cup.
The possibilities are quite literally endless.
Adding a sponsor segment for a video that is essentially an advertisement for your own product seems... odd.
@ShortCircuit it doesn't matter about size
if it does the job it's perfect
Stubby
Ahh, the Linus Driver.
I will be picking one up to compliment the regular sized one; I frequently find confined spaces I need one for. All I need next is a long and thin bit set for the inevitable recessed screws that seem to be buried deeper than the Balrog in Khazad-dûm.
it's funny AF so many haters have notifications on for your videos 😂🤣😂
Maybe they are hardcore fans who want better.
@@simonk.2969that's just as weird tho. Either way people are way too emotionally invested in the hardware tech community
Well you know what Taylor Swift says about haters...
@@alexdavis9324 Yeah! Definitely too emotionally invested. However, that is the most valuable demographic to LTT. They are the buyers of their "overpriced" merch. And as you said, they have their notifications active and diligently watch everything.
@@JohnSmith-xq1pz I don't.. enlighten me
Would've killed for a complete purple one.
Nice way to make sure you don't have any waste as a company tho. Happy to see a creative solution. And they are pretty much all unique
Now we want colourful clear plastic with rechargeable RGB handle with silver or gold or black finish!! Make that ill buy 2
I thought this was a joke 😂
I bought it early at LTX, been needing a good stubby screwdriver for so long and I couldn't resist.
Lol about a week after scandal resolved back to self selling again 😂
Dropping the Robertson bit? Why you gotta throw down on us fellow Canadians 😂 I actually use it all the time but can see why others woodn’t
So many dislikes still... Get over it folks
the anger wont stop until the team says something else about That One Woman Who Used To Work At LMG
Nice - but I want a dang noctua screwdriver. I need it to install noctua fans... Which isn't possible without a proper screwdriver.
Speaking of Sarah Butt... I think we need at least occasional regular art streams. Missed opportunity if you don't call it "Butt Stuff." All due respect to Sarah, of course.
@iamaduckquack Yeah, I get that. Not that the series is even likely, but in all seriousness, this shouldn't be the title unless Sarah is completely on-board and in on the joke.
@@iamaduckquack ...and that's regardless of any allegations against them or their history or culture.
I just bought both! I've Heard good things about the feel and quality. I work in the automotive industry and I'm curious how they're going to hold up to abuse in the long term. Don't expect to get a warranty if they brake. but will try
You wont regret. They indeed are very good, even used it to work on my own car already. It can take a beating, was not dissapointed
was this reposted?
idk
it was released a day ago on floatplane thats why im confused that they post this later?@@kazi1
déjà vu
He talked about it on WAN, that might be where you got it from.
I DID order a matching black shaft, so thanks for that! I have a feeling I think I'd want a SLIGHTLY longer shaft, but we shall see!
You are insane to buy this for this price
I just built a new rig with the Z790 Mag Tomohawk mobo and I freaking love it!
A randomize should come with the discount 🤔
Look into Tenifer coating. Firearms manufacturing has been using it to coat gun barrels for decades and it really holds up well
Damn Im early. Hello World o/
hi
we should get a work harassment discount code
Easiest thumbs down ever
So now that cold pressing is ok are they gonna skimp on the mainline ones?
dummy's at LTX argued with me that this wouldnt happen... i said "obviously they arent going to waste the leftovers, from a business decision and environmental backlash". silly keyboard warriors in real life...
But the mix and match option is gone
@FirstLast-fg2ll and? Also he said that may come In the future. Which I would bet money on. Bc you know, money.
@@mz1929 yeah, he has a lot of ideas for the future, some take a long time and not everyone wants to wait. I got mine at LTX.
With his focus on the lab and the workers dispute I don't see him hiring new devs or taking away resources from float plain.
If you want to wait like 1-5 years for like the exact one of your choosing that's fine. It all depends how much a uniquely ish coloured screw driver matters. For me it was enough for a ticket and 40 minutes of public transit 🚇
Thank god i watched this video. I love my LTT screw driver, but my favorite color has always been purple. Im so happy theres a purple solid color driver. Ive already ordered mine.
oh look more merc!!!
It's near to see what actually goes into a product from design, r&d and production. Most people don't even think about where the things they buy come from or the actual cost to make something
Talk about some ridiculous prices dude, are you serious with those margins dawg? What did this cost to manufacture per unit? $3-5?. Insufferable greed.
Well, there is 1-2 videos + wan shows explaining whole manufacturing and designing process, you can watch and see the reasons. For one, these are relatively small batches, manually assembled.
I am sure there will be 5 more videos about it as well, just to make sure they are squeezing out every ounce of money from it.
They are competing with snap on's stubby driver which is 82 dollars and has no bit storage. LTT's is better or on par at basically every test (Watch project farms video on it) while being 20 dollars cheaper. Its objectively a good product. The fact you think it costs 3-5 dollars a unit is proof enough you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.
And Before you call me a fanboy I have not nor do I plan to buy a screw driver. Im just stating objective facts
@htr5372 Okay so all but 2 of those points you made are explainable with simple human error, People make mistakes. There isn't a person who reviews and tests products who hasn't made mistakes doing so. It happens. Problem is in video format you cant just edit the video after its uploaded.
So you're only real bit of criticism for project farms is Flawed tests? Okay. Which test is flawed and How is it flawed? And how does he cherry pick models, Explain that too
I have the fullsize one, and have no need to change to the stubby. I no longer need it for work - I'm too senior for that, so it's going to be used for my motorbike.
Yeay more advertising.... 🎉
You're watching a channel that does product unboxing... what did you expect to see?
Maybe this a bit of a controversial take but I don't like the packaging material. Don't get me wrong I think it looks and feels really nice but it opens up very easily in the package and everything gets thrown around. Is a little sticker to hold it closed aesthetically really so unpleasing that the core functionality should be jeopardized?
