For that price i'd at least want the spine to be functional. It was the perfect opportunity to have a fully adjustable chair where the sections could be individually adjusted using joints in the spine.
Whos to say that it doesn't, I mean the one guy complained about the upper pillow and they both mentioned the hole in the back. Soooo why not remove the upper pillow and put the cover back in the back? I need to see a real in depth review with someone who can put it together and try all the features. Just a thought.
Its surprising how not a single gaming chair out there has bothered to try and make the chair ergonomics or adjustable in any way. They're all just bucket seats with a different skin for outrageous prices. Dont bother with this and get an ergonomic chair instead. They may not look as gamer-y but you'll actually be comfortable in them.
Seriously... My refurbished Steelcase Leap is amazing and costs like $440 with tons of adjustability. Who would spend $800 for this junk that's uncomfortable for everyone but maybe the 1% of bodies who match the designers? You can easily get Aerons for less than $800. Other than rich teenage boys who find the spine thing cool and don't have aching joints yet, lol, who's their market?
Gamers Nexus did a nice video on the gaming chair market a while back. This chair and other just keep confirming that video xD Honestly, overpriced crap that won't even last that long when it's already broken when it arrives lol haha
They just slap racing seats on everything and the problem with racing seats is the have to properly conform to your body to be mildly comfortable but there designed to prevent injury Incase a car rolls over....not comfort
I spent $400 10 years ago on a la-z-boy executive chair from staples which has been the most comfortable chair I have ever had, and despite weighing over 250 myself I have never had issues with the piston going flat or the cushions wearing out. It's made of steel and wood, and will probably still be perfectly serviceable long after I am gone. I can't see paying $800 for this thing unless you are REALLY into the aesthetic.

If you're looking for a good "gaming" chair that's actually worth it and comfortable get an AndaSeat Kaiser 3. Usually on sale for $450 US. It has 4D armrests, magnetic cooling gel neck pillow, big cushion seat that is comfortable and slightly firm, and actual built in lumbar support. Two knobs for lumbar height and depth along with cloth or leather chair options. Also it's almost $300 dollars less than this cougar terminator. If you don't have the money for the $1200 office ergo chairs then the Kaiser 3 is the one to buy. It's got plenty of leg room for me to sit with my legs crossed on the seat or to lean and lounge in for comfort. I'm 6'0" tall 215 lbs and it's been great. If you're 5'10" or above then get the XL version of the chair. The only real difference is the gas cylinder height range. I've tried the secretlabs titan chair and while the lumbar support on that one is better the chair is an awful rock that made my butt go numb faster than a cement bench. Returned it in a week. The RS gaming devanti chair from office max is a close second for me but will need some kind of cushion for the back. Anyway I hope this helps someone so they don't mistakenly buy this $800 dollar piece of crap.
Any chair that looks like a car bucket seat will distort your back. You don't need support against G-forces. Your back needs to rest on a pole and have a great lumbar support, preferably build-in inflating cushion. Therapia and other manufacturers make chairs like that. Herman-Miller is another good brand to buy from.
I do love that spine design. Dope. That being said: 800 bucks is insane. And that chair is waaaaay to bulky. There's no way I'd sacrifice that much room space just for a chair. But I do like that spine. A lot.
It seems like they could have used that spine design to be able to adjust where the lower back, shoulders, and head rest sit in relation to the person sitting in it.
so i am a bigger guy (6'2 260) that has had cronic issues from a back injury when i was 16 and i bought a Hayworth Soji. Cost me about a thousand bucks because i did get all of the features and nicer material but i can sit comfortably for about 5 hours before i need to get up and stretch/move around. Just a heads up for those that are looking.
I have yet to find a single Cougar product worth spending any money on. This one being broken out of the box and truly form over function just cements my opinion.
Adding 10+ pounds of decorative vertebrae, while using cheap casters, flimsy covers on corners, and inadequate packaging, really shows their priorities: Plastic and pleather pillows.
"Raise the bar for ergonomic support", uhh, where are the adjustments? Seat depth? Backrest heigh adjustment? Lumbar depth and height adjustment? Headrest adjustment? it doesn't even flex, its as stiff as my morning wood.
For 800$ chair adjustable lumbar support should be a standard and the head pillow should be magnetic. Please don't waste your money on this chair, there are a lot of waay better and more ergonomic options for this price.
this chair looks so cool, I want to try it out before I buy it but from what I do see is that I wish the two segments could be independently adjusted like other ergonomic chairs
I share the short-guy gaming life as well ... I kinda like my chair, but the desk is actually too high for me to set my chair to a height where I can also put my feet on the ground properly ... and when I don't, my knees start to hurt. I might opt for a foot-rest under the desk but for now I put my subwoofer under the desk as a foot-rest.

That chair looks absolutely SICK. But, I think the search continues for what to replace my aging Steelcase Leap with. I've just gotten used to having way too many adjustability options that these "cooler" chairs just don't have. If you're going to be sitting in a chair for 8+ hours while gaming or working from home, it NEEDS to have adjustable seat tilt/depth, adjustable lumbar, etc. Your joints will thank you.
Been looking into the Leap and HM Sayl, what would you say is the drawback of the Leap? I kept seeing people complain about the seat not being very supportive around the back is this true?
@@AbiRizky It supports my back perfectly, but for reference, I'm 6'2 and sit pushed all the way back on the seat. The lumbar support and seat positioning is quite adjustable, but maybe if you need it to push out further it could be a problem? I spent some time adjusting it perfectly to fit me, and have no complaints. The only downside in my opinion is that it's not a tall chair, so no headrest. It's only rarely a problem for me, since I hardly ever lean all the way back in the chair, but if that's how you sit, it might be a problem. You can lock the reclining or just stiffen the resistance so you really have to push to lean it back, which is perfect for me. Also, my chair is around 12 years old now, and the cushion is still comfortable to my big fat butt, and the piston has only barely started to slowly leak (I have to raise the chair back up every month or so). I'm just looking for future replacement options if this thing ever breaks.
@@Brogboolius_Maximus thanks. You're quite a bit taller than me and from what I've read the problems seem to happen for people somewhat shorter than me (I'm around 5'9ish, most complaints I read are from 5'6-5'8 tall people). So I guess I'm somewhere around the middle in terms of whether I get good support from the chair or not. Also, what about the back rest? I know the stiffness is adjustable but do you have any problems with it being too stiff/not stiff enough? Say if you push hard when it's at the stiffest setting, does it move a lot? Sorry for the questions, the Leap costs a lot of money where I live
@@AbiRizky No worries, getting recommendations online about chairs is such a mess. There are so many factors to consider, and everyone seems to prefer different things. For the back rest, it's really quite adjustable. I have it at the stiffest setting which holds me upright even with moderate pressure, but if I push back, I can get it to hold stable at all sorts of angles. For someone lighter than me (I'm a pretty heavy guy), they can just keep it at a lower stiffness and it would do the same thing. You can also lock the recline entirely at 5 different angles if you never want to go past a certain point when leaning. Fully unlocked feels like about 45° of lean. It's worth checking whether the current Leap has these features listed too, since mine is old enough now that it might be a previous model. I doubt it, but you never know.
I'll be part of the crowd that thinks the spine is hideous. Get me a GOOD chain for a 5'6 - 5'8 people with decent padding all around (including arms), that has 10% more height adjustment in either direction than standard chais and that comes in a durable leatherette or just real leather. I don't want; RGB, screaming accent colors, plastic accent parts, built in USB or w/e crap. Bonus: add individually adjustable footrest and backrest so i have sit "up right" with feet up or go at close to horizontal.
Until gaming chair companies actually focus on ergonomics first. Just stay away from them completely. Get a good proper office chair. Also don't cheap out on a chair, get something you can see as an investment for your health. It's cheaper in the long run, over having spinal issues and back pain later in life.
Honestly , beside the price, I don't see a problem with this chair. Too bad, you can't feel the fabric through the monitor. Also I believe you guys (Colton) did not really adjust the lambert support for himself to test it.
Why can't some chair manufacturer just use car seats as a base (we already know that the seat pan for car seats are made for 8-12 hours of continuous sitting for years on end without losing cushion)? Of course it will need to be further engineering and tweaking (otherwise it'd be unbalanced and risk tipping over regularly) and redesigning the adjustments for office use, etc... But the base foundation of a front car seat would be ideal for a comfortable *and* durable gaming throne.
love watching Colton go full dad assembling furniture, reminds me that ltt people are not all perfectly handy and struggle with ikea furniture like the rest of us
Comfort in a chair literally is the single most important trait IMO. Most of these gaming chairs are made with moderate ergonomics and loads of aesthetic value but minimum comfort that is geared to a niece market. Don't think for a sec that the vast majority are not just a huge gimmick even the grossly overlooked Secret lab Omega fills like I'm setting on a rock. The Titan in the fabric version would probably be OK, given you have a sit-stand desk but will not work for long hours. The few that are really good will cost at least 700 to 800 like Herman Miller's Vantum or anything else and you will likely just get a moderate amount of comfort. Mavix might be OK, and of course, Herman millers Aeron is going to be really good.

Honestly , beside the price, I don't see a problem with this chair. Too bad, you can't feel the fabric through the monitor.
Also I believe you guys (Colton) did not really adjust the lambert support for himself to test it.
Finally a chair for tall people's
Colton been killing it in these assembly videos.
May I suggest testing chairs from car seat manufacturers who have been making some the past few years?
Bell kept correcting Colton to call him a co-worker, but he is also wrong since Colton was fired he is not his co-worker anymore
Ah the truth comes out! The real reason Linus never fired Colton; Colton is the only dude at LMG shorter than he is!

Very honest review. Planning to get one and this helps me decide. I’m also 5’5 and this isn’t for me :)
love watching Colton go full dad assembling furniture, reminds me that ltt people are not all perfectly handy and struggle with ikea furniture like the rest of us
Should water cool the spine area just for fun.
Oh yes my favorite person to see you sitting on his posterior speaking of chairs
4:52 Colton holding normal size newspaper
What a coincidence. I too am both a cougar chair and a cougar terminator. Wild
Yes but is it better than the thundercougarfalconbird?
I like the wide angle shots were Colton seems to be even smaller :D
as someone who love cyberpunk aesthetics....i love the look of this chair and I would buy one...if I could afford it
Comfort in a chair literally is the single most important trait IMO.
Welp,I'm sold 👌 just bought a cheap 2nd hand Jasmine for the sake of shenanigans. I think I've discovered some worthy shenaniganry here.
Wish me luck doing this with none of the tools in the video lol 💪
