This was interesting. I didn't know about the MP9. I currently have an HP ProDesk 600 G3 Mini that I upgraded from the i5-7500T to an i7-7700T. My friend is suppose to be getting a whole bunch of HP EliteDesk 800 G4 Mini from a business that is getting rid of them. Not sure what CPU those units have but someone said they think i7's. So would be really nice if they at least came with an i7-8700T. I wouldn't need to upgrade those units unless its actually possible to install an i7-8700 or i7-8700k. I was planning to take 3 of them off my friend. Two for me and one for my brother. Then I plan to sell the G3.
Boy, I need to live near these places giving away G4s 😉. You can go with non T CPUs but you'll need copper heatsinks and more powerful power adapters. Check out my videos on the K processor and PSUs. Sounds fun.
Was looking at getting one of the G4 Elitie desks but i came across a z440 workstation for cheaper then the G4 so i got that instead. But i still want one of these little guys.
Thanks for the video. Looking at over at ebay for one. Still waiting for it to show up. I've got a i5 going into mine with 64 gb, I'm going to install proxmox on mine.
Interesting. For reference, have you ever seen the USB3 flex-io PD connector cable for sale? I saw one card on Ali that appeared to include the cable but none of the others do and a search produces nothing sensible. If it isn't available the presence of the motherboard connector makes no difference. Similarly, is the G4 motherboard mounting post actually in the MP case? If it is the G4 board should fit fine.
The one I bought for my G4 Mini 35W is www.ebay.com/itm/324737974450 - looks like it is still available. This has a part number of 3TK79AA - the non PD one that works with more units is 3TK78AA. Check the picture to insure the cable comes with it - even from this seller I've seen different listings - with and without.
Looking at the MP9 and Elitedesk side by side. The USB power connector and the GPU MXM connector is missing. Which is consistent with a Prodesk 600. My Prodesk 600 G3 does not have them either. Apart from those connectors, its an Elitedesk 800 G3, including full vPro functionality.
@@handmedowntech whilst I have neither an MP or G4 Prodesk 600. I would presume so. The two missing connectors are the only differences between my 800 G3 and 600 G3. Both do vpro by with a supported cpu. Both have the same Q270 chipset. Both have the same Intel Nic and RAM support etc. Identical ports front and back. Like you, scrub the names and they could not be told apart. The MPs likely have a different warranty and support framework. That is likely it. As they are marketed as POS style machines. As opposed to general purpose desktops like the Pro and Elites. Just market segmentation to rake in more money with artificial barriers.
Does Windows 11 work well for you on these mini PCs? I have HP Elitedesk 705 G4 with 16GB RAM and I'm wondering whether to install it when support for Windows 10 ends... from what I read, it's apparently not compatible with Ryzen 2400G

But be forewarned, they are addicting and you'll want more 😆
put a bunch of these in a cluster
I've been thinking these SFF computers would kick ass as a cluster.
Work well as proxmox cluster

Getting the G4 or MP9?

Would you consider it more of a Prodesk 600 G4 (vs G3)

I can run windows 11 on all of them. Starting with the G1. My day to day computer is a G3.
