vPro is a pretty useful feature so thanks for putting this video out there, I'm sure a lot of people will find it useful. Here are some additional tips:
    1. If you're running your system "headless" (without a screen), the remote desktop function won't work. You have to get a ghost "dummy" HDMI/DP plug to fake a screen.
    2. For some reason with the EliteDesk 800 (maybe other models), using remote desktop features while booting (w/ BIOS), the connection will be then limited to 10Mbps, even after fully POSTing.

Thanks for watching and also for the info. I'll have to check out the headless. May have to pick up a dongle too

I believe the 10Mbs is due to it being a serial connection. Ethernet will say its 10Mbs as that's the minimum speed it clocks down too.

I'm hoping to learn more about this. I bought my first NAS yesterday and made sure it was one where it has a full system in it. This and things like wakeup on lan are things I need to get familiar with quickly.

NAS are great. Which brand and model did you get?

@@handmedowntech It's some old 4 bay datto thing with a full I/O panel in case I feel like replacing it. It has some old i5 4440 in it with 16 gb of ddr3 ram or something like that and a 250watt power supply in case whatever I get takes too much juice.
I figured, if anything, it can be used as an emergency computer too. It was 113 dollars. Which is a lot less than what I've seen similar solutions go for with no upgrade path aside from storage.
I don't know why NAS solutions cost as much as they do, but I hope to find out soon. I also hope that what I have can do the job.

@@Xedhadeaus that sounds like it has potential. I also use my NAS to run a small virtual machine that allows for some network wide type of apps like traefik.

@@handmedowntech I hope it can hold up. I've seen some of the ugreen nas options and I genuinely wonder why it needs that much under the hood to store and send data... I got a separate router as well so hopefully something like bufferbloat doesn't ruin my connection.
Again, I don't have a great idea of what I'll be doing, but It'll be trial by combat when it gets here.

Watching other videos about the hp mini's it has been stated that NOT ALL 800 series are vpro capable. It needs to have the vpro sticker on the cover to e sure it is vpro capable.
I have an idea for another video for you. HP makes amd variants for at least the g4, g5 and g6. If you compare specs of the amd and intel in the same generation the amd is far superior. In the g6 for example the 10500t vs the 4650ge the amd chips are about 30% faster in cpu benchmarks and up to 50% faster in graphics benchmarks. Might be worth exploring that on a video at some point. Just be aware there are more challenges with the amd system, like vendor locked cpu's If your interested we can talk more about them the differences and challenges. I think it would make a great video.
Keep up the great work these mini pc's are great but not many know about them.

Thanks. I've been peeking at some of the older 705s. I just need to get a better idea of the mapping of AMD to Intel.

@@handmedowntech Best place to start is with passmark website. Under benchmarks for both cpu and gpu, you can compare up to 5 chips at once. Granted that's only benchmark scores but if you use it as "trending" it will give you a rough idea as to how they stack up to one another.
The real difference is the graphics, intel has used the uhd 630 graphics from the 7th gen all the way through the 10th gen with almost no changes at all. The ryzen chip that comes in the 705 g4 (2200ge I believe) substantially beats out the the 800 g6 (10900t), yes that's G6 as in 2 generations newer, IN GRAPHICS ONLY.
In the 805 g6 series I own, the graphics of the 4650ge are about 50% better then the old uhd 630 graphics. Which makes sense as the uhd 630 launched in 2017.
Mind you this is still not a great graphics setup the 4650ge is about 15% less powerful then a gt1030. But its a very good system for things like a plex server, home server or a retro emulation pc.
The ONLY situation I have found the intel to be better is if you are running a plex server, have a plex pass and want to HARDWARE transcode.
If you do start looking into these just beware that for example an 800 g4 and 805 g4 use different heatsinks and different i/o addon cards at least for the hdmi one. Also some amd chips for these came out of lenovo systems and they are vendor locked and unusable in a non lenovo system. Most ebay vendors are not aware of this and there is no way to visually tell if a chip is vendor locked or not.
All that said if I was sot get another g4 I would go intel. They are easy to find in abundance and cheap. Also the 705 g4 is NOT compatible with windows 11, so in a year or so will either be garbage or need to run linux.
However once you start to look at the g6 level everything is harder to find and the amd systems are just superior in every way and in my opinion worth all the extra effort.
I look forward to seeing your take on all this.

Wow - I love the attention to detail. The great thing with these units is that for a very cheap price you get a great computer. Would be a good comparison of the units - like for instance the G3 705 looks like a G2 800 - it's also comical.

@@handmedowntech 705 g4 is the oldest I would go and its not compatible with windows 11. Also beware a few caveats like the heatsink for the 400/600/800 g4 is not the same is for the 705 g4, they are different, same with the hdmi i/o board. Incompatible, said another way there are amd versions and intel versions and you cant swap them. Also the whole vendor locked mess with processors. Any lenovo systems chip in an amd 2000, 3000, 4000 and I a guessing 5000 series will be vendor locked to only be used in lenovo systems. Problem is ebay vendors dont know this and will sell you these "locked"" chips, and there is no way to visually know if a chip is vendor locked. The vendor either has to know what system it was pulled from or you just have to try it on blind luck and hope its not locked and return it if it is. There is no way I know of to unlock a vendor locked chip. Its a permanent thing.
Personally I am a HUGE fan of the 805 g6 units and put a 4650ge in them. Same warnings about vendor locked chips. The 4650ge is comparable to the intel 10900t even though the 4650ge is the middle of the line amd processor and the 10900t is the high end for intel. There is also a 4750ge thats quite a bit more powerful. As stated before the graphics performance of the amd chips is tremendously better then the intel equivalent
To compare them you can use the passmark website for both graphical and cpu power comparisons and then of course if you buy some compare them head to head.
I have only come up with a single instance where the g6 intel system would be a better choice then the amd system. This is if you are running a plex server, with a plex pass and use hardware encoding. I dont believe plex utilizes the amd gpu for hardware encoding while it does utilize the intel onboard graphics.

Those kind of warnings and insight are what I like to collect and pass on to viewers so they don't make the same mistakes. With so many sellers out there you really have to know what to look for.
