A legend.... he was at an interesting phase during this time. In 1999 the album No. 4 was released, some of his best work is on that album, from hard rock to some of his deepest songs like Atlanta and Sour Girl. If youre just discovering this amazing artist, i recommend you give that album a few listens.
the video to "Sour Girl" made such a big impact on me that it might have probably changed my life forever... 6:17 AM getting ready to school (it's fucking brutal that kids are sent to school this early by the way)
Weiland is my son's namesake. I found it so poetic that he fell asleep to this song tonight, but it's also so damn sad... I can't stand how insanely beautiful Scott's voice is and how I'll never be able to get that high feeling of hearing him live again. Such a shame in so many ways. All the best to his family and fans. Much love...
This is just brilliance at an all time finest. Scott was a true Rock Star in every aspect. The man had range that was limitless. 12 Bar Blues is so underrated.
That was Scott's divine order. You take away anything that founded him then you get a different Scott. I wish he could have had his cake and ate it too but that is not how the universe works unfortunately.
His toxicology report came back clean. He was drinking heavily supposedly and he was taking his meds that interferes with the liver and intensifies the blood alcohol level. I believe his autopsy reported his cause of death as cardiac arrest. His band mates were on drugs but they weren’t around Scott often around this time. Scott would normally be by himself or on the phone with his family during the tour.
The medicine was a type of mood stabilizer for bi-polar disorder. I had an older friend who passed away from a drug interaction in a similar way but she wasn’t drinking as far as I know. Her doctor prescribed her hydromorphone, gabapentin, and something else. It was just a cocktail of disaster waiting to happen.
It wasn't his meds of choice but the meds of society's choice that did him in tho, if only people minded their business! Ultimately he fulfilled his fate, like we all do!
amazing, gives me the shivers... makes you think about what Dean said recently in an interview, that at those times there was really no one, but no one better out there.
Hey, I’m with you. And it seems almost ridiculous to miss this guy so much….yet I really do, too. I listen to 12 bar blues as if it’s a Beatles album. Always on repeat alongside Tiny Music. I read your comment and I smiled. There’s a few of us diehards out here yet. Be good to yourself. 👊
Ok.. Gotta clear this up. Victor Indrizzo wrote this song about his own son. I was there when it was written and I recorded quite a bit of it. I actually lived in the studio, at the time. I'm not sure anybody realized it. But, I was there so much that a moved out of my little bungalow in Glendale and into Scott's Burbank studio. A few people commented on the new couch in the "office area". It was actually my futon that doubled as a bed and couch in the early days of Filthy Audio in Seattle... In the 4 or 5 years before my move to L.A. to start working at Royal Tone... Where that Divider bootleg video was shot ... By Danny Carbone's brother.. whatever his name is. The pretentious, ambiguous fella, that we had to ask to leave alot. His big brother, Daniel is cool as shit though. Anyway.. We got a great deal at Royal Tone because I was a previous employee and we agreed that Don Henley could bump us any time he wanted the Neve room. There. no more guessing. =) Jason Tootles.
I remember hearing “Lady…” on the Great Expectations soundtrack, played it constantly and couldn’t wait for 12 Bar Blues to drop. Was amazed with that album and is an all time favourite. Love how every song is so different from the next. “Son and Divider” are my favourites on the album. Glad it got a remastered release on vinyl! I remember this time period so well and Scott’s cool new look after his departure with STP
At least, every 2 months, I watch this.... I saw him 2x. Once w/ VR and STP, and, WE LOST 1 OF THE GREATEST EVER ON 12.3.2015. DAMMIT, he was ONLY 48.... Scott, I miss you dearly.... Hard drugs just suck ASS man!!!! Addiction TOO!!!!
Brings tears to my eyes I have 2 sons and love them to death just wish I could see them more than I'm able to since I work all the time and live over a thousand miles from them
+stella georgian He didn't have kids at the time, though. The line "Time and time again I'm not the man" refers to him still not having a kid at that point of life and how that most be beautiful to have one.
It's about him wanting to be a dad, but he wasn't yet. "Time & time again I'm not the man" is about him not being a dad yet though how much he wanted to be
I wonder about that though. He does look really good, but he did have an eating disorder. I really love his voice and his looks, but it reminds me of how many people thought Jim Morrison was so sexy in that famous picture of him in the jesus pose, but little do they realize he was so skinny because he had been homeless up until that point. Regardless I still love his art and wish his family well. All the best to you as well :)
What happened inside of STP that pissed him off to the point of trying to make a hit in a solo career? There must have been a reason for him to attempt stealing the band's name on court all these years later? Or was the guy a treacherous snake all along? Anyone with insider info?

Saddest part is he did have the beauty inside he just didn't realize it.
yes he did....
12 bar blues is a masterpiece!
Such a briliant singer... for me one of the best singers in the world. For sure the best in whole grunge scene...
1000%
What a rock star
This is just brilliance at an all time finest. Scott was a true Rock Star in every aspect. The man had range that was limitless. 12 Bar Blues is so underrated.
being a stepdad "time and time again im not the man" gets me everytime thank you for this his music will live on forever
I know what you mean, pal... peace friend.
How I wish him alive right now with us...😭
Wish he could've stayed clean. Addiction is such a terrible thing that so many suffer with. but what a great and honest song. RIP Scott

such a better version of this lovely song!
and you did a pretty sweet job playing this song man!
Oo the king was here :)
This trumps the album version for sure.
miss you scott
can you all think how his only son will be when he hears this? fucking spectacular. Scott I will always love you.
amazing, gives me the shivers... makes you think about what Dean said recently in an interview, that at those times there was really no one, but no one better out there.
Absolutely amazing. Scott lives on, this is one of the best sad songs I’ve ever heard. If not the best.
Scott I will always love you and remember your spirit. RIP majestic soul ♥️🙏👼

I wish I was alive in the 90s and able to see Scott live

MISS YOU SCOTT :(
A Beautiful Song !!
Beautiful🖤🌹🖤🌹❣
I love you SCOTT ❤
Love you Scott
Dammit Scott !
This is so beautiful
Brings tears to my eyes I have 2 sons and love them to death just wish I could see them more than I'm able to since I work all the time and live over a thousand miles from them
Sapevo da anni che sarebbe successo ma non pensavo che ci sarei rimasto così male. Ero geloso di questo pezzo...
LOVE!!
RIP Scott
perfect! rip scott
This song reminds me of the song "beautiful boy" by John Lennon 🥺
Sweet one;)
nice to see/hear a softer side!!
Missshoooo brother!
Shit, i'm crying now...
It’s really hard to sing well while sitting down. Scott of course pulls it off.
Give him a rocking chair.
@@AudioGardenSlave123
He already sang in one on MTV Unplugged. And sang beautifully.
Love this stripped down version.
BEST AND ONLY FRONTMAN SINCE THE NINTEES...
SpezlvomAnneNr1 Since the 80s
Miss this dude
thanks scott. say hello to Chris for me.
no one can take this from his kids....I hope they know that......
+stella georgian He didn't have kids at the time, though. The line "Time and time again I'm not the man" refers to him still not having a kid at that point of life and how that most be beautiful to have one.
Maybe it was for his child that was aborted kitchenware and candy bars
Coolness is Scott Weiland.
I miss him too.
this is definitely about his son. He almost always wrote autobiographically
His son is born in 2000. This is 1998. He was with his first wife at the time...
you are absolutely right. He says he writes autobiographically so i assumed it was.
LJA Photography old comment, but I think it's autobiographical in that he's the "son" in question.
It's actually about one of his bandmates sons he wrote it for him
It's about him wanting to be a dad, but he wasn't yet. "Time & time again I'm not the man" is about him not being a dad yet though how much he wanted to be
we miss you a lot Scott...
Really pretty
This is my son....Miguel Antonio Call....He is perfect...😂💓
Master!!! 👍
Tortured soul, RIP Scott
He really looked like IT the devil clown. The dope made him a superman but also end up destroying his face in less than a decade
Roy Devine True To That And His Body To But He Always Looked Different But His Face Always The Stayed The Same Well The Features Before He Died To
Descansa en paz leyenda...
IMO Scott wrote this under his own perspective as a step son of David Weiland, 'cause Noah was only born in 2000.
he had a son to live for :(
is the guy doing back up vox daniel lanois? he sounds just like scott here
what you left? why?
+Roberto Lazaro because the truly sensitive souls leave us early and with a legacy..
❤️💥👌🌹👏
💫✨🕯️💜🕯️✨💫
He looked so healthy...
I wonder about that though. He does look really good, but he did have an eating disorder. Are you kidding?
!
The guy was a full blown junkie at this point...
Healthy? He looks like a freakin' zombie in this video. He looked healthy in 1993-1994 when he used to eat.
who's doing the chorus? It's awesome!
Lol pearl jam has daughter Alice in chains has brother Scott has son .. and then there's Soundgarden with full on Kevin's mom
Anyone able to tell me the guitar chords for this? 🙂
Verse goes C - G then Chorus is C G Bm7 Em-Em7 I'm recording a cover of it soon as well
@@livingmodern it the same for 3:08 ? that progression I mean 🥹 Thanks so much!

Great version, but I wish that the backup singer was more on point like Scott. (Just IMO though) :)
Was Noah already been born?
