      Yeah, though I love Pearl Jam's first few albums more than STP, I have to say STP take them in terms of consistency of songwriting throughout their careers.

      Cody Wilson I love almost all of Pearl Jam, some albums grew on me, but I think they're One of those bands with amazing bonus material, the lost dogs album Is great, Some of their best tracks like wash, alone, I think Pearl Jam had a Solid 5 albums in a row to start, then binaural riot act and avocado were good but not on par with others, I actually quite like a good amount of the recent Stuff as well

    • @KickflipGnasty
      @KickflipGnasty 7 лет назад +28

      Chalk it up to taste. Pearl Jam has always been solid, but I feel like after their third album they kinda forfeited their "it" factor. Their songs became less memorable(imo), Vedder started to really subdue the primal side of his voice that a lot of people really dug, and their writing and production got a little...dryer and less energetic as well. Nothing is wrong with that for a lot of their fans. Pearl Jam set the bar so high in their early days I'm not surprised they didn't maintain it for more than a few albums. I still like stuff from all those albums you mentioned, but imo the deeper STP got into their career the more eccentric and unique a lot of their ideas became. The melodies, the chord progressions, Scott's lyrics and vocal tone, the production, etc.

    Always loved STP, and this album and song are real masterpieces. Terribly underrated. This was me and my ex husbands song. My god, the times we had to this album, and in particular this song. When we were first together, when we were first falling in love. He once sang it to me, under the stars. Now, all these years later, Scott is gone, and so is my marriage. There were two days in my life where I literally played this song all day long. Over and over. The day I got divorced. And the day Scott passed away. And both days I cried almost the whole time. I still love them both, even though neither of them are still here. And when I die, I will have this song played at my funeral. My ex will know it was my way of saying good bye to him one last time. And maybe Scott will know I’m coming to say hello. 💔

    I listen to this, where did you sleep last night, and nutshell for hours to remind myself of good times that resulted in failure. Some people are not cut out for relationships due to immense unexplainable pain. Sadness and drugs help bite back for awhile. The best thing that helps me cope now that i left drugs and alcohol behind is realising that some people are just too aware of reality. Those people take on the bulk of suffering so the rest of us don't have to. This is because they are strong enough to bare it and speak about it. Sometimes though, it gets too hard holding that weight for everyone else. R.I.P. Scott, Chris, Kurt, and Layne. The last voices of a genuine generation.

    When I found out about Scott's death the first thing I did was listen to this song, I want to remember him like this, at his best, I felt such great pain that I felt like a brother had died, thank you Scott for your beautiful music and your magical voice, you will live forever through your art, may your demons never find you again, I know your struggle because it is also mine, opiate addiction for the addict means the destruction of all that is good and beautiful in the world, consume and disintegrate your soul, scott rest in peace brother and we will see each other in the afterlife.

    I love the way that Scott could change up his voice, depending on the song. It could go from gritty for the hard rock stuff to old school kinda crooning and soft for a song like this. Love the versatility not only of his voice but STP's music in general. That's one of the biggest things that made me start loving them only a few months ago!
