    Hi Josh, thanks and while i also like the Gamut LUT (skintone) i also recommend the leeming LUTs for best noise and Dynamic range possible with the S Cameras. So in the end i use the leeming Luts with a naturalfilm 101 quickie on top and change the tint of the skintones a bit toward yellow. And another thing, it is also a nice thing that you can use the IRE meter in the S5, this way i expose to 65 for my skintones.

    • @JoshCameron
      @JoshCameron  2 года назад

      Hey Artur, I've heard a lot of good things about the Leeming LUT's so I may have to check them out myself.
      Wahey - another IRE user! Haha thanks for the input and for watching :)

    “I eye-ball it” love it, great to come across someone else that isn’t afraid to Chuck the RUclips how to out the window. Great job mate, do you find the S5 V-log under exposed? I always find shooting +2 gives you the right information to play with in post, typically at least.

      Hi Jack, that's weird... are you running the latest firmware? If you are, then are you outputting a signal video HDMI at the same time?

  • @colhutchins

    Thanks Josh, so just to double check, when you switch to v-log for example and the waveform is more compressed, you are just changing exposure etc to centre the waveform across the scale? Cheers

    • @JoshCameron
      @JoshCameron  2 года назад

      Hi Colin, that's correct. I'm essentially exposing the exact same as I would any other picture profile, but a log profile always starts off quite low in exposure since it's designed to maximise dynamic range and protect highlights. So, all you have to do is essentially 'stretch' the exposure out again :)

    Hello Josh,
    Thanks for this insight 🙂
    Have you tried using any Godox trigger/flash unit with any of the Lumix S series?
    I was trying to find if TTL is calibrated for M43 sensor or if it recognises full frame sensor...
    The products by Godox particularly, the on camera triggers, flash seem to be designed for M43 but I'm not certain if it works well with full frame sensor...
    If you have any insights on using it with S series, kindly share your feedback...
    Cheers from Bangalore, India 🙂✨

      Does the waveform only show vlog exposure and never rec709 if using a monitor LUT? When I switch to monitor LUT, waveform looks the same so I’m assuming it just shows VLOG exposure and nothing for any monitor LUTs

    Good video Josh! I have a reaaly good question about the V-Log View Assist, it's normal that sometimes the Lut in the screen shows some colors a little bit posterized? This show me more with the highlights like candles and sometimes with the midtones
    Idk if is some limitation of the S5 screen of showing a normalized image of V-Log with the Lut or just I need like an external monitor capable of display HDR like the Atomos Ninja V or BMD Video Assist

    • @JoshCameron
      @JoshCameron  2 года назад

      Hey José, I have actually noticed this a little bit myself. It depends on how well you have exposed the image I think since that effect disappears for me once I reach optimum exposure :)

    • @JonackFilm

      Try to use a external Monitor. Since I use the Atomos Shinobi my exposure is waaaay better and easier. I should do a video about it

    Hello Josh! Thanks for great content. I wonder if I need to lower the exposure in the post before applying the LUT, if V-log profile is exposed to 90 or 100 percent according to the wave form? (I mean the LUT you mentioned in your How to Grade V-log video.)

    • @JoshCameron

    Hi Josh,
    I use to record with a 4K 25P profile on my S5, do you know any possibility to block the shutter speed to 50 just to be 100% sure that it won't be accidentally moved by a miss click on the camera?
    Thanks for your some helpful work

    • @sutv6754

      Yes there is and I just figured it out after a year of it moving and ruining my shots with messed up SS. GO to operation and there is a tab that works with the lock bar near the play button on the left. I have GH6. There you can choose to unlock everything except the Shutter Speed. Leave the lock on and all is nomal except shutter speed is locked. IT is gold for me.

    Hi Josh, is it possible on the Panasonic to pin the lightmeter on the screen while shooting just like for Nikon cameras? I find it hard to properly expose an image with my S5. All my pics were way underexposed, however on the screen with constant preview ON it looked ok, even when I reviewed the picture on the screen but in Photoshot and on the computer when opening they were absolutely dark.
    I could in post get back the shadows etc, but I don"t think that is the proper way of exposing... I know you are not a photographer rather video guy, but maybe you can help? I had constant lights on the scene well lit place, and I use ISO 100 not auto ISO.

    • @JoshCameron
      @JoshCameron  Год назад

      Hey!
      Okay, you'd need to hit the disp button to show the other screen (Not the live view screen) and there is where you can find your light meter. It's weird that even with Constant Preview on you're seeing a big difference in your exposure after the fact... Is it definitely configured that way?

    • @JoshCameron
      @JoshCameron  2 года назад

      Do you have the camera in full manual mode? If you're shooting in a priority mode then it will always stay at zero as the camera will be compensating for whatever the scene is doing :)

    • @AerialAndre
      @AerialAndre 2 года назад

      Hi, thanks for the reply. I found out that you have to be in full manual mode for it to work. Even the ISO must be manual for the light meter to work. Thanks
