Thank you. Great video. I was underwhelmed by my shots at 2000 and couldnt figure out where all the noise was coming from. I definitely will reshoot and compare the footage.
You've changed the way I use my GH5s with one of your videos about the ISO, now you're doing the same with the S5 series video. Great job. Thanks for the explanation.
I shoot with the S5 and have found everything in this video to be true. Really looking forward to a video about exposure methods from you in the future. Nice job 👌
You summed up all the good advice in the s series facebook group. I think with Vlog overexposing a little is fine because of the dynamic range allows you to bring the image down without losing quality. I shoot everything on my cooking channel over exposed by 2 stops using the spot meter and xrite passport. There’s no noise in my kitchen 😜
I see a lot of people saying most of this advice but I also see people making all these mistakes consistently too! Personally I expose juuuuust right or just a tad over but that’s personal preference
Wait okay 👀 does that mean I can get the 16-35 f4 and not worry if I use your tips? Cause I got the 18mm f1.8 but I’d rather have more flexibility for my first lens before I get specialty ones later! 😭 Ps. I’d be shooting cinematic music visualizers & backstage concert/studio vlogs
Would the picture profile ‘like709’ fall under Normal profile and have native ISO of 100/640? Also if I were to use live LUT and use Vlog709, does this mean the native ISO is now 640/4000? Thank you
I guess many of us have got to the point about worrying if we are going get noisy images. In so many cases we have so much of other stuff to worry about and have so little time to fiddle with settings. I would rather being able to capture (noisy) image than missing the shot.
That’s my number one tab for iso for a reason. Just don’t care. In most situations nobody will ever know or care and honestly not only do most plants not notice noise but most probably don’t even know what it is if you explained it and pointed it out to them right in front of their face
Hey I found your video on Reddit. Very good video everything is true. I have also a RUclips Channel about video making :) hey, where did you found the information on the base isos in the different color Profiles?
Hey, thanks for replying! I'm shooting a bunch at night, and I've heard shooting vlog isn't as good as shooting a "normal" color profile, so figured natural would be a good place to start....

Hey I just want to tell you great video, it helped me soo much! Ty and have a great day!
I didn’t see people talking about this stuff much before I made my video so I’m glad it helped
Excellent ISO explanation, thanks!
The S5 series does have a setting that allows you to have separate color profiles , among other settings, on photos and videos.
I made a video on this!
@@RhettThompsonFilm Found it

thank you very much for exposition tips.
Great great advice! The best is just to not give a crap! It's not as important as everyone makes it out to be!

What specifically do you mean? Sorry haha it’s been a minute since I made this video
So helpful!

@@TK-jf1xq yes to both as far as I know!

Interesting stuff. I’m about to buy a cheap used S5. 😀
That camera is a steal these days!
Nice video! Do you used a S5 + AF for this video?
Nice! Thanks

Did you use S5 to record that video ? 20-60 lens ? What is your AF settings ? ;)
I think this was GH5mkii and Leica 10-25 actually. Very similar performance using 1 area plus and human detection! Not bad but not perfect.
and... this video is shot with... which camera? s5? s5II? other?
Probably the GH5ii
Here I was shooting at ISO 50 all the time.
It’s usually not a huge deal and it does reduce the noise but I like my highlights too much aha, hope it helped!
@@RhettThompsonFilm definitely did help. Thank you.
Does anyone know what the base ISO's are for the natural color profile? Great video as usual Rhett!
I do talk about this in the video. It’s 100/640.
