    Dude, one of your videos popped up in my feed the other day, I am a huge fan man! You are doing things that the average joe can do. Your kits are absolutely beautiful. You play very well. And you’re just a normal dude.

    Appreciate the review! Now that so much time has passed, and these are $90, have you found any other relatively affordable brands you’d rec? I have a couple cheap LP’s that are fine, save for the pickups, and I was wondering if I could save some $, since Lollar’s, Bare Knuckle’s, etc sound great but are rather pricey even used…
    Thx for your time, man, not sure why these don’t have any other reviews since they seem somewhat popular

      I have had success with Guitar fetish pickups which are reasonably priced and pretty nice quality. I like the Earl Slick line of pickups best. However, that being said in recent years I have really found you get what you pay for with pickups. While yes, you can go the more affordable route and get pretty good stuff if you're willing to spend a few bucks more you almost always get a better sounding/quality pickup.

    would you recommend these pickups? im considering buying an epiphone sg special and putting in a set of these or the byo eruption humbuckers.

      Venancio Portalatin, based on the name, I'd think they could, but can you get that old van Halen, like best of both worlds album sound from these? If you've ever heard eruption or ain't talking bout love you know what I'm talking about, and sorry for asking questions I just don't want to buy and install these without knowing what I'm getting into 😅

      Oh sorry these aren't the byo eruption pickups, im on the wrong video, sorry, still love the sound though

    Anyone know how these pickups would compare to gfs fat Pat's or vintage 59

    • @VenancioPortalatin
      @VenancioPortalatin  5 лет назад +3

      Not sure but I will say they have a great vintage PAF type of vibe. I love them.

  • @tinomendoza9372

    Do you recommend this better than the P90s ? For an Epiphone Sg?

    • @VenancioPortalatin
      @VenancioPortalatin  5 лет назад +1

      P-90’s are a completely different pickup to these. I love both Humbuckers & P-90’s so for me I’d say it depends on the sound you’re looking for? If you’re looking for a good lower output vintage style humbucker then these are a great choice. If you want more output and growl and don’t mind the noise then go P-90.

    • @tinomendoza9372
      @tinomendoza9372 5 лет назад

      Yeah but theres a P90s that are wax potted and ceramic they are not that noisy but I’m really considering this pickups for my SG since I play from Blues rock Psychedelic to Black sabbath ,, do you think will do for my purposes ?

    • @VenancioPortalatin
      @VenancioPortalatin  5 лет назад +2

      Yeah, they’ll get you there for sure. If you dig that classic PAF type humbucker sound you’ll dig these. I use this guitar for everything from Harder rock to classic rock, blues and even jazz. Very versatile pickup. They’re not to hot which is what I like about them because I find hot humbucker a to be muddy in the mids at times. For $70
      -ish they’re totally worth trying. I think they sound just as good as brands twice the price.

    Yo V! Sound Great again! Any idea what the impedance/output is on the pickups?

    • @VenancioPortalatin
      @VenancioPortalatin  7 лет назад

      Greg Schmit I haven't put my meter to them but according to the website it's 7.3k neck & 8.1k bridge. They're not supper hot but the original PAF's really aren't meant to be. - www.byoguitar.com/Guitars/Blizzard-of-59----Vintage-Humbucker-Set__BYO-BLIZZARD-SET.aspx

      Thats why they are nice and bright! I like a lower wind. Doesn't get muddy. I kind of figured as much....Thanks man!

    • @VenancioPortalatin
      @VenancioPortalatin  7 лет назад +1

      Greg Schmit yeah, they're great pickups. Fat bottom
      end, crisp mids & clear top end. I was very impressed with them when I first plugged this guitar in.

      Just a suggestion but you need to make it in such a way that we can't hear the guitar because that is definitely adding a certain treble factor to the sound. Keep up the good work

  • @FHC2002
    @FHC2002 Год назад

    you need to do this in some way that the strings are not so prevalent in the sound.

    too much talk and not enough play. Your amp isn't up lough enough to really hear what the pickups can do.
