So I dont know if anyone from Warp actually reads these comments, but a long time ago i purchased "Big Loada" completely new from Virgin Records, the packaging, even the cd cover said and was Big Loada, but when i put the disc in it was Budakhan Mindphone. While not displeased, ive always been baffled at how this could have happened, and if I have the only Big Loada disc that is actually Budakhan
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that is a special disc and if it were mine i would definitely take it to a show with me and ask him to autograph it.
My theory is that they were printing/burning off batches for several different releases one after the other in alphabetical order and the count/disc was off i.e. they load up all the CDs with the artwork done and everything for each album and burn to them several releases in a row, but an extra CD or two made it in, so when it queued up the next album to burn, it was still burning onto CDs for the previous album
It's one of the most beautiful songs of all time, I've listened to it more times then I can even fathom since it came out. Much love , be well, lost mine last year in December.
remember hearing John peel play this so many years ago. rushed out the next day to buy it. great track for closing drum and bass parties back in the day.
Don't recall John Peel ever playing this track, If I'm not mistaken Mary Anne Hobbs played this tune. John Peel Is Not Enough #KeepingItPeel lifehassurfacenoise.blogspot.co.uk @Interactions247
@@esotericspaces She definitely did. It was the first track she played after the liam howlett breezeblock mix. remember it distinctly. Im sure John Peel would have also played it. He loved his warp artists.
The entire 90's idm era was really special, the likes of which we haven't really seen since. For me this is one of tom's crown jewels in his massive discography and sadly he hasn't made tracks this deep or heartfelt since ultravisitor, damm that was 20 years ago......
I still think 'Hello Everything' was somewhat decent of an album. But I have to agree on the 90's era up until ultravisitor being breathtaking and unique (still to this day imho). There is no music that has had such an effect on me since then...
2:02 That is the start of something beautiful. Amazing composition. Just press on that and you can play it over and over :) PS. Listen to this while a bit high on the beach at sunset during summer. Amazing
where in the goddamn world have i heard this melody before? i havent started listening to squarepusher and all that sort of music until recently but i swear i have this exact melody engraved into my memory from years and years ago
no ive definitely heard it. i remember being able to predict the melody in my head when i listened to this upload for what i thought was the first time, and theres a part in my memory that isnt in this which leads me to believe i listened to some cover of it at some point in my childhood
I decided to look up Squarepusher due to recommendations and some stuff I heard about him. This happens to be the first song of his that I heard (kind of choose it because of the title). I think that I'm already in love.
Walt Kovacs I do not doubt that at all, especially after songs such as this one! By the way, do you have some small recommendations regarding his songs? I have listened to some more of his stuff, but I'm still kind of new and not really sure where to actually 'start', so to speak, just randomly picking songs I find and the like. Hope I'm not bothering you with this comment or anything!
you're definitely not bothering me man. i freaking love music, and Squarepusher is one of my favorite artists. My fave from him are : Theme from Ernest Borgnine, Beep Street, this one, Iambic 9 poetry, Tundra (lush, lush, lush)... there are a lot of amazing tracks but these are my personal faves. pure bliss. you could also check my channel, there are quite similar artists. i don't know what you're listening to though
Walt Kovacs I'm glad to know that I'm not a bother haha! Thank you for the recommendations (and fast reply!), I'm definitely going to check these out (and also gonna take a look around your channel). As for what I usually listen to: I don't have a specific taste, I listen to pretty much anything I find - partially due to the fact that that I research music for some personal work, partially because I'd easily get somewhat bored If I would listen to the same stuff all the time, and also because I simply enjoy doing that (finding new stuff and all that). In other words: I listen to anything, really, as cliche as it may sound. Also, sorry for turning this into a wall of text, it's kind of a unfortunate habit of mine.
no worries mate, the comment section is here for that. music is my absolute passion. im unfortunately not able to produce music but i really need to listen to it everytime haha i think its the most beautiful human art.. i could recommend you a lot of artists if you want. ;)
I think it must have been at least 20 years ago when I first heard this song, on the verge of adulthood. It meant a lot to me then and said a lot. It still does.
But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unrulely evil, full of deadly poison. James 3:8 (NKJV) This is literally why i stopped listening to a lot of music with vocals.
It pulses like the tide at first, the waves getting more daring as the sounds build up to fall away, lapping at your ears and shrinking back into the sonic sea. Then it finally comes flooding in to carry you off, adrift upon the bassline as the rays of a xylophone sun warm your mind. Man I love this track.
Ive always felt the exact way, its musically the perfect expression of self to me, though ill never know and barely a handfull might notice. They matter.
It's a glockenspiel that comes in after 2 mins. Similar to a xylophone but made out of metal as opposed to wood. You can hear that metallic ring to it.
Best random CD I ever bought. I know that sounds like lame complement, but back in the 90s I bought this on a whim and have not forgotten it since.
Haha, same here...was prolly my first cd I bought...either this or arcon 2 which was (and still is) incredible too.
the bass playing on this is gorgeous.
Agreeing, in 2024.
Makes me want to stay alive to feel music as perfect as this.

Hands down the best work by one great person.

This is up there with his best work.
the drums are the most moving part of the song, that's rare
