    Hey Jonas,
    It’s Carl. I’m Emmet’s partner in the plane. Thank you for the coolest video. I have to apologize for the drone footage, I totally suck at that. There were some super cool shots of Emmet blasting out of that strip that I was trying to not run his drone into the trees. That hill is about 50 degrees up and down in a canyon. Thats the first place Emmet trained me to fly close to the trees and not freak out. We had to run a couple of deer out of the middle. He’s right, this plane is a beast. We will see everyone at High Sierra this year. Thank you again, it’s been a long time building and well worth the wait. Thanks for letting us put her in your hanger for a short time. You’re the best.
    Carl

      I’m glad you liked it! Ha yeah no worries on the drone shots you got a couple decent seconds! That looked like a super fun spot though. Hopefully I can come out and fly with you guys one day.
      Congratulations on your plane!

    Awsome video! Love the S7. I don't understand people spending upwards of a quarter million on a carbon cub when u can have so much more for a lot less money. I like the Norden Cub much better than the Carbon cub anyway. Better performance for about the same money. think it's just a fad more than anything. They are nice and all but way overpriced for the performance they offer. I noticed Todd from "Gravity Knight Flying " is getting close to finishing his new creation. Maybe you could get an interview with him on the unveiling of his new beast.

      You can always choose to build light. A friends recent Kitfox 7 STi w/ 915 with bushwheels and all glass came in at 925+. Again, likely there are choices there but seems that S-7s are "generally" lighter when similarly outfitted/equipped

    I believe the round tail feathers are a stock RANS supplied option for the 7, or did Joel make those special? The last time I saw Emmett was at Johnson Creek, he was waiting for his oil temp to rise, I had a cockpit controlled shutter on mine, and was outa there sooner! He's going to love the ability to control it, too much cooling can be almost as bad as not enough.

    • @JonasMarcinko

      Hi Paul - yes RANS did/does offer round tail feathers. Our door/fairing controls flow to the coolant rad, but similar purpose. We thought oil temp may be the harder thing to keep cool - but so far running great. Likely we may just tape part of it off in winters.

      its definitely a possibility Jeff but it is essentially at the same location as, and between the main wheels so it doesn't get rocks from them. I don't understand where you guys find money to throw at those kind of boys' toys. ??? That kind of money aught to be in business investments or retirement accounts. It's fun to see people making the fantastic m achibes. The financial irresponsibility is hard to fathom

    • @emflys
      @emflys 4 дня назад

      How is this "financially irresponsible"? You don't know what I do, what my financial situation is, or how long I put money away to make such investments. We could sell this plane after flying 500+ hrs for more than it cost to build it, and return > 12-15%. Not a bad investment by most measures. I also have disability from a spinal injury when I was younger, and I will have a shorter window to pursue this passion than most - e.g. I cannot "afford" to wait for retirement to pursue my passion - and what is retirement investing for in the first place?. I own a home, a car, have children I love and support, and support others. I have been continuously employed since I was 10 (family ranch), even while going to college for a biochemistry degree, and have spent the last 20yrs as global director of R&D for a multinational life science technology company. I have a retirement portfolio built all on my own sufficient to retire, but I am not retired. So, the real question is, "how can such a sweeping generalization/assumption be made without knowing anything about the person"? I do agree with your opening statement however - you don't understand. And how would you - you just assumed. All that said, if you ever are in N. CA and want a ride, I am happy to take you. You might then understand in a small way why I am so "financially irresponsible".
