One of the favorite memories of group on the farm in the 50's was the thunderstorms and electricity being off. I'm happy to say I did inherit one of mom's lamps. We played marbles, Sorry, many different card games, and gathered around the piano for music and singing. Sometimes the neighbors would come and it was a fun time. We had a wood stove in the kitchen so cooking up somsoup and biscuits was often done.
So glad for your oil lamp fuel recommendation! I've been looking locally and have not been able to find anything.

Hi, thanks for this video! I have hand-me-down oil lamps, too. The most surprising ones are miniatures that I thought were just meant to be decorative but were actually made as 30 minute night lights for children. Please stay safe!😁

Red kerosene has odor and burns longer than the oil.

Hurricane hit Michigan with a vengeance. I can’t believe that rain we got slammed with. I mean Michigan? Really? That was a vicious, long, lasting storm.

@@cswan153 Yes it was. My county was hit by 7 confirmed tornadoes from Beryl remnants. Scary stuff!

I use red kerosene in all my lamps. Lamp oil is too expensive.
