We are the ultimate reality, the source of all existence. We are not separate from the world, but the world itself. We are the happening that is happening now.

The guy answered a lot of questions I was asking myself... before I was even born.
It’s been awhile since Alan has made me breakdown into tears so fast, but damn I felt this one. I always get something from listening to him but this one was one of those moments where your heart is touched in a different way. Appreciate you posting this.
I've learned a lot from Alan Watts. He was my introduction to philosophical topics and helped me see life in a completely different way. I'm always grateful for all of this 💜

Collectively we are terrified of nature and for many now death is the last / only real connection with nature - reframing my relation to nature is what important because that actually brings connection/ reconnection to natural - that this is 50 years old shows how far beyond this we have gone ……and still not much ( less) connection …….🙏🌏✌️

The depth of A. Watts on reality, human psychology and life in itself are mind blowing! Furthermore, his verbal delivery is sophisticated and elegant with a slight edge making the listener “all ears” while remaining motionless for fear of interruption!

The audio quality is exceptional-one of the best of all the Watts snippets on RUclips. I, for one tho, find the AI-generated transcription distracting, especially when it doesn’t match well with the spoken word. And then I can’t fully appreciate the visuals created to go along with the spoken word. But that is just me.
It’s not you, you’ve identified deliberate intrusions upon one’s ability to properly digest the information at hand. Meanwhile, the ai is programmed to give false representations so that people miss key concepts that might otherwise help them on their path to enlightenment just as edited editions of books dissolve the original guidance that leads to successful implementation. “The Secret” is one such book where successive editions ruined the information that the first edition provided and therefore, only those who misinterpreted the writings of the successive editions ignorantly stumbled onto successfully implementing the correct actions, that is according to Kevin Trudeau if one chooses to believe him, which I do.
1971 was a dead end, 2023 is something else. What a crazy time to be alive.
2023 another dead end on along the trail of life. We're not quite awake yet because many are still dealing with pride as an individual who believes their a person. Being a person individualizes you, and disconnects you with Life itself. It's no wonder then that lots of Humans feel very lonely. You are the light of the world you are the world and the universe...
Long ago a freshman in high school..not knowing where to go..stumbling through the day..doing what I was told..so blind and deaf..

If we are not experiencing it all first hand, there is a window or a middle-man inbetween us and it.
Either we are following teachers or scriptures, we are following just another feeling towards the same thing that we are experiencing ourselves right here in this now, in our slightly different but still same imperfect now.
And when learning any kind of passed down information no matter where on the spectrum of truth it is ranging, we are by doing so un-learning ourselves to put ourselves under & add on someone else's innerstanding, which with time are going to make us, our inner being, into more of a copy than an actual self.
Life is live, feel, learn and re-remember and the life that we live is the teacher itself, where by living it we should be growing into living books of knowledge, if we actually live it for ourselves. We are both the teacher and the student, as we are both the observer and the one who project the whole moving picture that we see infront of us and dive into each new day when we open our eyes and the camera is again for us, rolling. On top of this, we are each others mirrors as well, reflecting all that greatness but also all that inner work that we should be doing. So really, we should be grateful for all interaction with life as there is a teacher in absolutely everything.
When breaking it down, all we truly have is our energy and together with our energy all we truly need in this life is good health, good morals and a fine-tuned instrument, as in us, to express ourselves properly with, in order to free our minds.
Let the caged bird fly.
Follow no one who wishes followers but the one's who encourage you to live your life for you and to walk your own path.
Only by doing so we'll truly know who we are and what we are truly here for.
We have it all, need only ourselves and we need no middle-men to stay connected to source. We are all born out of it and were given a slightly different perspective to take in the experience with for a reason.
So not to fall for false light.
Saying that though, one can not escape what one are not first aware of.
We are all god's until it finds a way to change the mind. 💜

As I wake I remember that today is different. I watch as the sheep scream and the ostriches bury their heads while the hawks peck at their behinds...yet as I sip my coffee and spread the butter on my toast, I remember too how they all lived beyond their means while looking down at those without the latest new piece of gleaming vulgarity...which they had to have to be better than me, and scoffed at my frugality and simple values. Yet now it is with contentment that I have at last been rewarded with the satisfaction of watching them claw at each other in desparation and wonder what went wrong.
But I smile, and admire the beauty of the clouds as I take another sip of my much appreciated coffee.

As always, whenever I hear this kind of philosophical monologue - questions cascade from my mind - seeking clarification, counter ideas challenging Alan's. Much of this seems like a series of concepts and proclamations with little explanation and without foundation. I'm sure Alan has carefully thought it through but, alas, we don't have access to the reasoning behind his conclusions. Yes, very thought provoking.
Yes, for example, he says you are what "just happens". And it just so happens that we all creates egos for ourselves. What then?

Im glad he mentioned the truth is shocking to the human races' pride. Youre only making a mess trying to put things straight. That sums up the mentality I had in highschool, I went with the flow but still creating my imagine. I saw us all experiencing the same things at that time with me witout pride just material laid in front of us. They just called me the quiet kid

There is no such thing as "the world itself" which is separate from what we think it is. Whatever is is the world itself. Ordinary everyday reality is your Buddha nature.
Yes this is a good criticism on Watts's philosophy from a Japanese Buddhist perspective. However, as a zenmaster once said, Watts was a great Boddhisatva nonetheless. He got many people on the the path and inspired many more.
Important note: None of us is getting out of this alive. Don't waste too much time and energy on money and power you wont be taking with you.

Of course ego exists, think of ego like a reflection in a mirror. The reflection that makes it possible to view the color of ones own eyes. Your ego is that part of God, that makes it possible for God to observe itself.
There are a lot of truths to his words but those truths are not absolute to who we are as beings. Therefore following his wisdom absolutely would be a waste of ones life.

The video presentation is the same sort of useless distraction talked about by Alan Watts. But the talk itself was magnificent.
I'm going to add to what Alan said, far less important but for me it was a unique thought I came up with myself. Government doesn't exist. Companies don't exist. Laws don't exist. Etc, etc. They are ALL just figments of our collective imagination. People who know me for an intelligent IT person think I'm revving them up when I say this. In particular about government not existing. "Go point at it" I say. There is no "Government" with a big G. There is just a bunch of people doing things.
Right now, people are saying Israel is attaching Palestine, I gently say 'No'. There is no Israel OR Palestine. There are just people. Some people killing other people. All the religion, all the ideals... it's all just in their heads. They invade and kill, them, the people... because there is no government. No mental shield to hide behind, no name, or 'cause'. If you are a soldier and you kill, you are a cold blooded murderer. Many people have a hard time with this because they are religious and believe that they will be judged, they need a way to reconcile those two concepts... because they can't be reconciled.
