In esoteric teachings, the statement "In silence and self-confidence, you will find salvation" holds deep significance and can be explored from a spiritual perspective. Let's delve into an esoteric expansion of this statement: Silence as Inner Stillness: Silence is not merely the absence of external noise but also a state of inner stillness. It represents the quieting of the mind, the cessation of incessant mental chatter, and the cultivation of a serene and receptive inner space. Through silence, one can connect with the deeper aspects of oneself and attune to the subtle realms of consciousness. Salvation as Liberation and Wholeness: In esoteric philosophy, salvation encompasses the liberation of the soul from the limitations of the egoic self and the realization of its true nature. It is the journey towards wholeness, inner harmony, and alignment with higher spiritual truths. Salvation is not external deliverance but an internal process of awakening and self-realization. So, what to do when you’re in a limbo state then? Where’s the courage to choose, knowing that you might end up regretting your choice? Where’s the ability to stay calm in the middle of a panic attack? Where’s one to go when in total confusion? - What about all the practicalities? There’s no getting around the practicalities, right? Suppose I’m just rambling on here, but while videos like these used to calm me, sometimes give me a sense of clarity, now it’s just one big word salad to my ears.
I take Alan with a grain of salt. He had some amazing insights on some things, others, not so much. He himself said he was an entertainer. Albeit an educated entertainer with some profound insights, but an entertainer nonetheless. It sounds like your anxious mind is trying to protect you from making a bad decision, as well as catastrophizing about any decision you may make. Any decision can be potentially "regrettable." If all you are doing is playing scenarios over and over in your mind, you may well become paralyzed. Perhaps you might write down the pros and the cons or talk to someone about it. Staying calm in the middle of a panic attack? I've had my share and even had someone drive me to the ER. Other times I rode them out. I use the past tense because I haven't had one in a while. Meditation, journaling, exercise, (for some people yoga) and other therapies have helped them to diminish over time. Seeing a therapist has been helpful as well. Most of our confusion is of our own making. Talking to someone about our confusion (and the reasons behind it) might give us a helpful perspective. Practicing meditation, which is where Alan Watts had some wonderful insights, may bring clarity. It also helps us to come into touch with reality (the world as it is and not as we think about it). The philosopher, Seneca, said, "We suffer more in imagination than in reality." Not that we don't suffer in reality, but we suffer more in our minds. It appears that is what you are dealing with. Cheers!
There is good reason to be concerned about events that can be prevented, but have not yet happened. If you didn't worry about them at all, then they are certain to occur.
We r all given a gift, to make a choice. Not only who we deal with things, but how we deal with life. Physical crap may happen alot, but its how we mentally take the challenge that counts. Like moves in chess, we all have a way of dealing with such things that accour in front of us...
The wisdom of this man was unbelievable... but I listen to him... and take stock in what he says, and follow it. And the wealth I have built... could buy and put in your back pocket even Elon. Niiiccce. 🙂🥰
Trying to live now without thinking about tasks boss asked me to deliver first thing in the Monday morning. News was delivered around 4pm Friday which didn’t have much time. So time to practice living now. No past no future
So, I'm going to admit that I do not know much about who Alan watts is. I assumed he was just a author but he seems to be so much more. Anyone know his story of where the wisdom came from?
Family shapes environment. If family focus on hardship and bussiness, their children will inherit their attitudes, as family focus on travelling and enjoying, their children focus on their attitudes.
I laughed at 1:24 not because I’m ignorant. But because I understand nobody else will understand But seee. That makes you not humble . Because no matter what there is somebody out there that feels like you I love this video by the way I had to listen 4 times after I heard it once
What I know is that we all need money in this world in order to survive. And money is one of our problems mostly cos it doesn't just come to you,you work for it. So what is the real meaning behind a statement that says we worry about problems that we don't have? Whether we like it or not in reality we do have problems that's why most of us wants a better life or even wishing to become millionaires. Someone without a problem wouldn't even comment in this video and wouldn't even have time to watch a video on RUclips telling them that they don't have problems while they are sinking deep into their problems. I'm learning so I'll disagree or question things that I don't know and believe into them. Questioning is the way into acquirering knowledge. Another thing that I've learnt is that we do not come from the same source and so are our beliefs.
I like coming here, not just to listen to Alan, though that would be more than enough reason. The reason I seek out Alan's channel is that I have yet to see a "thumbs down" icon
You know in the moment of failing that that moment isn't second to second but, lasting. Why, because we aren't stupid but knowledgable. The truth is, don't apply yourself to things that please others and find joy in poverty first.
Mark, can you please re-post this without the background music I have a hearing problem and there’s so much Soundclash I can’t understand what he saying
In a way many of the things he said are true, and in a way, many of the things said are not. If there is too much to handle, it is very likely that being in the moment when nothing bad is happening to you can help. But if bad things are currently happening to you, perhaps it is better to cast your mind somewhere else. Or yet, another ideology which believes in strength may say that is when you should most be in the moment to withstand the suffering, but I am not strong.
You are stronger than you know. The coal has the innate ability to become the diamond but a coal does not become a diamond without tremendous pressure and time, in this process, it has no support. Support would only hinder the process. The same goes for a caterpillar as it begins the slow and painful process of becoming a butterfly. We may not see it but the system works perfectly, everything is in the right place for growth, for the evolution of consciousness 🙏
I have listened to Alan Watts recordings for eight years and nothing he teaches actually works for me. For example: I have work on Monday. It's Saturday. If I don't prepare for the week now, I will be miserable Sunday night because I know how things will unravel on Monday due to a lack of preparation. If I prepare today, I can relax Sunday night knowing I'm prepared for the work week. That's reality. Allan Watts lived in a fantasy realm of ideas.
I tend to agree, how can one truly just live in the moment without jeopardising our other responsibilities or goals? I guess we just need to TRY to enjoy the moment when we can and not worry and stress all the time.
It is a misconception that cultivating the Tao means that you do nothing at all except sit around and contemplate the universe and everything will be fine and dandy. I do not believe that Alan was saying that. The reality is that we all have our responsibilities in life - you can't get around that. If your job means nothing but stress even on your days off maybe this is telling you that your job is not what you want to be doing since you are fighting against it. I once had a stressful job where I had to drive 2 hours each way in Los Angeles traffic. I hated Sunday because the next day was Monday. I spent Saturday recovering from the work week. One day I simply quit and went with a dream to work at home doing something I loved doing. It wasn't always easy but everything about it seemed to fall into place and now, 45 years later, I am still doing it and the other interesting things that have come along because when I had an instinct to try something it was usually the right thing to do. If you love your job, then preparing for it on the weekend should also be something you love doing. If it isn't then you are spending your time doing something you hate and probably isn't right for you. Alan Watts can't fix that.
@@karinchristensen220 I hear you. I think you did a better job laying out Alan Watt's message than Alan Watts. For the record, I love my job. But there is work and preparation involved and if I don't do that, then my job will compromised and I can't live with that. So, my conscience bothers me until I do my prep for the week.
you have options. hire or have an assistant hired for you. do the Monday prep on Friday (that's what I do). or your current system. but you see, all 3 are flow. and you chose 1. best of luck.
What I wonder is why neither the Western, nor the Eastern societies were build around such principles like the Tao. Why did we choose to turn to egoism and straining for goals that might not even truly be our own? I feel like these philosophies were thousands of years ahead of their time and perhaps in some future century humanity will strive for simplicity, rather than complicating things further. That doesn't mean we'll become lazy, we'll just stop working towards goals that didn't solve our issues in the past.

"Don't force it. Always go with the stream. You may need to use a rudder (LOVE this concept), but don't go against the stream." Beautiful
Love listening to this wonderful man, thank you for posting.
Glad you enjoyed it! 🙏🔥
Allan Watts is a hidden gem 💎, I wish he was alive to see his prophecy manifested in this modern world.
In esoteric teachings, the statement "In silence and self-confidence, you will find salvation" holds deep significance and can be explored from a spiritual perspective. Let's delve into an esoteric expansion of this statement:
Silence as Inner Stillness: Silence is not merely the absence of external noise but also a state of inner stillness. It represents the quieting of the mind, the cessation of incessant mental chatter, and the cultivation of a serene and receptive inner space. Through silence, one can connect with the deeper aspects of oneself and attune to the subtle realms of consciousness.
Self-Confidence as Spiritual Trust: Self-confidence in this context refers to a profound trust in one's own inherent divinity and spiritual nature. It is a recognition of the infinite potential and wisdom that resides within. This self-confidence arises from a deep knowing that one is connected to a greater spiritual reality and possesses the inner resources to navigate life's challenges and seek spiritual growth.
The Power of Silence: Silence has the ability to quiet the noise of the external world and the distractions of the egoic mind. In the stillness of silence, one can access deeper levels of consciousness, intuition, and spiritual insight. It is within this sacred space that profound wisdom, guidance, and inner transformation can unfold.
Self-Confidence as Inner Knowing: Self-confidence, rooted in spiritual trust, allows one to tap into their intuition and inner knowing. It enables the recognition of one's unique path and purpose, empowering them to make aligned choices and take courageous steps towards spiritual growth and self-realization.
In summary, the esoteric expansion of the statement suggests that through the cultivation of inner silence and self-confidence, one can find salvation-a deep spiritual liberation and wholeness. By embracing silence, stillness, and self-trust, individuals can access their inner wisdom, connect with higher spiritual truths, and embark on a transformative journey towards self-realization and spiritual awakening.🤔🤔
Man I so grateful for bumping into alan watts.
Realizing that there is no such thing as time is life changing. There is only duration.
I work, I eat, and I rest. It is good. I am at peace. 🙏
No. There is no you doing any of that. It just happens. For no one. For no reason.
Thank you for posting this. I always find these videos at the exact right time.
It always allows me to find my sleep in the most peaceful of ways because I'm often troubled..lost in a malaise of nothingness. I don't understand me or what I'm doing here 😔

Wow, what a beautiful speech by Alan Watts! His insights into the human tendency to worry about nonexistent problems really resonated with me. It's so true, we often waste our energy and happiness by fretting over things that may never happen. This video has reminded me to focus on the present moment and appreciate the joy that is right in front of me. Thank you for sharing this profound wisdom!
He makes me understand, that's it simple, just listen and understand, thank you even though your not here anymore, you are to me

Must thank allan watts I recieve his words as soothing relief from the many confusions of existence. The man was exceptionally gifted.
This man is beautiful
So, what to do when you’re in a limbo state then? Where’s the courage to choose, knowing that you might end up regretting your choice? Where’s the ability to stay calm in the middle of a panic attack? Where’s one to go when in total confusion?
- What about all the practicalities? There’s no getting around the practicalities, right?
Suppose I’m just rambling on here, but while videos like these used to calm me, sometimes give me a sense of clarity, now it’s just one big word salad to my ears.
Meditate ❤
There's nowhere to go and no one to go there.
From the "Book of Changes" over 4000 years ago - anxiety and remorse are punishments that we inflict on ourselves.
What a truly wonderful journey this is. Thank you.
Watching the rageing river flowing in tumbling torrents to the great ocean, sitting quietly, doing nothing, nothing is left undone.
I feel the presence of greatness. Very wise.
Peace to you all
We r all given a gift, to make a choice.
Not only who we deal with things, but how we deal with life.
Physical crap may happen alot, but its how we mentally take the challenge that counts.
Like moves in chess, we all have a way of dealing with such things that accour in front of us...
I feel the presence of his unique vibe, movement, joy, understanding and love virtues...❤☯️🌊🦋🌞
This man was Amazing
The wisdom of this man was unbelievable... but I listen to him... and take stock in what he says, and follow it. And the wealth I have built... could buy and put in your back pocket even Elon. Niiiccce. 🙂🥰
I needed this today, wise words
I'm saving all of the Alan Watts videos to a playlist. Good for reference and revisiting. Thanks, T&H, for these videos.

So, I'm going to admit that I do not know much about who Alan watts is. I assumed he was just a author but he seems to be so much more. Anyone know his story of where the wisdom came from?

There are nowadays many 'motivational videos', but little that have taken the attention and effort that has been put into this video. Thank you
This is just soooo good
What I know is that we all need money in this world in order to survive.
Thank you
Interesting to say. Some things that can be applied to most.
Everyone needs to read "The Kid Gallagher Story " just once in their lives. He entertained all! He was a friend to all. He had a cool bear.
Alan is fascinating.
Excellent video
Thank you very much! 🔥🙏
Thank you for this video!
Glad it was helpful! 🙏🔥
Mark, can you please re-post this without the background music I have a hearing problem and there’s so much Soundclash I can’t understand what he saying

Good show Alan!
Never take your eyes off your opponent, even when you bow.~Bruce Lee
Worrying about problems you don’t have is preventing problems before they arrive.
You exist for one purpose. To Be. In the moment.
I hope to achieve this experience of life.
The coal has the innate ability to become the diamond but a coal does not become a diamond without
tremendous pressure and time, in this
process, it has no support. Support would
only hinder the process. The same goes for a caterpillar as it begins the slow and painful process of becoming a butterfly. We may not see it but the system works perfectly, everything is in the right place for growth, for the evolution of consciousness 🙏
Thumbs down because not every thing needs to be a bloody music video or montage. Thumbs up to everything Alan Watts had to say.
Thank you x
@@Juniar101 Right. Living in the moment is the way to go--once tomorrow is given it's proper due.
When the student is ready the teacher will present ones self .. hi alan
That`s only the life, not the life situation.
Genius
I love how purposely contradictory Alan watts is. He does it to get you to think for yourself or know for yourself.
